We stopped here for a quick coffee break after a long morning of walking. The location is okay but good for people watching. The coffee wasn't terrible but also not something to swoon over. Service was fine. Can't review any food as we only had a croissant and it was also fine but not very fluffy.

On a hot mid-afternoon in Paris I was looking for something fresh to eat and a comfortable place to sit. This is a fine Bistro tucked in behind another more famous restaurant. Don't listen to the negative reviews. The prices are the same as everywhere else. We had drinks, a Nicoise salad and two desserts. Everything was excellent. The terrace was full, but we sat just inside and could people watch easily. It was a bit warm though as there was no air conditioning, another typical Parisian characteristic. Waitstaff was gracious and didn't rush us at all. If you are rushed in Paris, don't go back to that place.

The food matches the space, as does the service. Enjoy by your self or, as we did, as a group.

It's alright..food was mediocre for the price. Service was adequate nothing special. There was a church across the street that you could go in if you wanted.

The place was empty yet we got no service and even had a waiter laugh at us.

Wow. I haven't had service this bad since I was a student in Paris in 1992! In short, bad food and horrible service- read on for more... Went for a simple café crème and croissant with a friend. There were 3 other tables with people: the place was empty. The waiter was gruff and unpleasant in taking our order. I barely had requested my coffee when he walked away before I was able to order my croissant. When it arrived, the crème was not great, too much milk, and the croissant was downright stale: they were definitely serving day old patisseries. Now, I decided to order an espresso and pour it into my crème to make it tastier. Well, the waiter did not come. I waited a hood 10 minutes then flagged him down from the table. He was standing at the bar chatting with that 2 other servers and totally ignoring me. Finally the bartender waved back with a rude laugh. But the server never came!!! I gave up. Not giving these jerks any more money! Finally when my friend and I stood to leave, a server came over and asked us to pay. "Oh really?" I said in French. "Now that we are leaving you are finally going to take care of us?" Never ever coming back here!!!

Stopped by for a very late dinner a few evenings ago. I love the location, it's on a quiet street but very close to a lot of action, great for people watching even at midnight on a Wednesday! The waiter was nice and everything came quickly, my salad was good - I didn't fancy the dressing for reasons I couldn't quite pinpoint, but that's just a matter of taste. My boyfriend loved his boeuf tartare. We would come here again!

The Croque Monsieur!!! Omg soooo good Great people watching and sometimes live music outside Close enough to St Germaine blvd but enough off the beaten path to get out of the hustle and bustle Nothing fancy but good food On a cold day be sure to bring a jacket and scarf, even inside isn't shielded from the cold and wind

Great Crème Brûlée and Hot Chocolate - best in the city (I think). Loses a star because the café is sub-par and the place is expensive. Too expensive.

Right around the corner from those two other places you would have found Hemingway a long time ago, but now might find aloof servers and a table in the back for your American heritage, the service at this Brasserie rocks. All the food we ordered was good and the staff kept my youngest daughter buried in french bread, since she seemed to just want to eat the insides. Cool place to watch the passersby, but not a busy as the ones right on the main thoroughfare through St. Germaine de les Pres. Surprise, it's smoky. Seems like you are in Paris, Right? Bathrooms downstairs are worth a trip. On your way to the Men's and Women's bathroom, are two urinals with no doors. Bonjour! Don't forget to tip the lady attending the bathrooms for the towel.

Bd Saint Germain is one of the most well-known streets in Paris for cafes. Cafes such as "Les Deux Magots," are legendary, but are well-known tourist traps designed to lure visitors who want to sip coffee at tables that were frequented by well-known artists. Having heard rumors of terrible food at such cafes, I was hoping to avoid such places. While I was strolling around the area on a Sunday morning for brunch, I found Le Bonaparte. While Le Bonaparte doesn't have anywhere near the historical significance as many of the surrounding cafes, it is a very pleasant and low-key cafe off the side street adjacent to the Boulevard. At Le Bonaparte, I ordered the French omelette. For those who don't know what a French omelette is, the primary difference between a French and a US omelette is that the center of the French omelette should be just barely cooked, and a little runny on the yolk. The outside should be cooked, but not browned. It also looks more like a hybrid of scrambled eggs and an omelette. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WhX_u6d2GY1xmWNPiTcYCA?select=QhsbPaJxTL8f08T7Di8-lw#QhsbPaJxTL8f08T7Di8-lw If I were to make an analogy, the French omelette is the medium rare steak while the US omelette is a well-done steak. It is incontrovertible as to which is the winner. It is a mesmerizing experiencing biting into the omelette and having the yolk ooze out from the center and running through your mouth. It brings out these animalistic urges of devouring the food in front of you similarly to when you bite into a medium rare steak. By far, this omelette at Le Bonaparte was the best omelette that I had in my life. There is no comparison and it completely shattered my long held conviction that there will never be a brunch menu item that will amaze me during my lifetime. While I cannot speak of the other items on the menu, I must say that Le Bonaparte gets a well-deserved 5* review for their omelette. Kudos and I hope others can have the experience of trying a wonderful French omelette sometime during their lifetimes.

Staff are decent, speaks decent English and has an English menu! I gave it 4 was because I didn't feel very welcomed when I went in, compared to the locals there. I've tried the Croquet Monsieur after reading the previous review. It was great especially with the environment. (To be honest, the rain helped to make the place that much more cozier) Ordered the Cappuccino as well, was not bad! (I'm not much of a coffee drinker, so I can't judge that perfectly) Also, the Onion Soup was perfect for the rainy weather! Only thing that shocked me was the charge of mineral water of 6 Euros.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

It was a cute little spot with plenty of seating and a small bar right up front. The problem was that it's so cramped in there. They fully pack that place pretty tight in there. While they take walk-ins, they were so busy that had we not had a reservations we likely wouldn't have gotten a table in a reasonable timeframe. I think we waited about 15-20 minutes outside until our table was ready. As for service, while they weren't exactly rude, they for sure weren't exactly friendly either. This was also a spot that didn't cater too much to tourists by having English on the menu. I don't fault them for that though, it's their country. I would recommend having a translator app at the ready though with French downloaded. As for the food it was a bit of a letdown for me. We had a number of items to share with each other. Without having reliable signal in Paris, it was hard to use the translator app so I'll do my best with the foods. We ordered a ratatouille (don't think it was a traditional one though), a shrimp dish, white sauce pasta, escargot, duck breast and the chocolate mousse. The ratatouille was OK but was just like a roughly chopped cooked vegetable dish. The shrimp dish was fine as well but nothing standoutish. Our favorite dish was my friend's white sauce pasta; it was flavorful, rich and decadent but somehow not overpowering. The escargot, as expected was not good for me, but "When in Rome" (or Paris haha). It was just a weird chewy Thing that just tasted like oil and garlic with whatever herbs they used. I especially was off put by the little grains of sand or broken shell that was a part of each bite. The duck breast was a little bland if not for the sauce and it was also a tad tough as well. I will say the chocolate mousse was super rich and sweet; I couldn't eat that whole order by myself but it's nice to share for a little end of meal treat.
