I had to ask her to get the polish off of my skin. And I still left with the worst nails I've ever had. I now have to pay $ at another salon to have them fixed and I'm so upset. Raleigh Nails reminds me of a nail salon way back from the 70's. A time warp. Outdated. Not good! Time-consuming. Poor results. Stressful to go there. Never again! The technician couldn't even file the callouses or shape my toe nails, leaving them rough and uneven. I was nervous because she didn't seem to know what she was doing. For example. when asked several times, she could not explain different options such as gel nails, dip, color choice, nail shape, etc. Despite my repeated questions, she could not explain anything at all...the differences in the nail processes such as gel nails, dip, etc. I was astonished! It was a time consuming and stressful experience having to ask the same questions repeatedly with confusing non-answers and inevitably poor results. Frankly, it was all I could do to stay there and try to be patient. An ordeal. I will have to have my nails redone this week. $100 down the drain! I have had gel nails/dips for many years. The owner at Raleigh Nails poorly communicates with customers, does not listen, offers few options and cannot explain what she is doing - and it's an incredibly slow ordeal. If you have three hours to spend for thick, poor looking nails, this is your place! I highly recommend my technician Vivian at NAIL KITCHEN in Midtown, near Starbucks...but there are many other highly qualified technicians there as well. Make an appointment because they are very busy. A slight bit more expensive but the technicians there really know what they are doing, are extremely well trained and knowledgeable with excellent communication skills, offering the latest in techniques. I have enjoyed consistent service and top notch results there for many years. And the atmosphere is fun and relaxing with a wine and beverage bar. Free cold drinks and bottled water offered - or bring a coffee from Starbucks next door! A relaxing spa experience. Great customer service. A Gorgeous Salon! They offer reward points, too, and because they do such a great job, you don't need to go there as often. So you save money with outstanding results! I'm so disappointed to say that today I've experienced the worst pedicure of my life. I had a 4:00pm appointment that I booked online. The technician that I had was very young, kept calling me "bro", and was literally playing a video game on his phone while he was giving me a pedicure! I had yellow polish on my toes from the last pedicure I had here. The technician was scrubbing them with a tool and I told him that it was regular polish, not shellac. He said I know, and kept going over them with this metal tool, which was a little painful. Then he cut my toenails with the polish still on, removed the polish, and barely filed my toenails. He tried scrubbing my feet awkwardly, which was very ticklish so he just stopped. Then he took some water out of the foot bath and put it all over my legs and rubbed them down with a scrub and then removed it. I received no lotion, and then he placed hot towels on each of my feet. The technician said that something bit him and went into the back room for a while. When he returned he was playing the game on his phone. I felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode. There were no other customers or employees working when I received my pedicure which was strange because they are usually busy and it was only 4:00. When the nail tech painted my toenails it was very rushed, he barely let the base coat dry and he began applying the polish. I've included pictures so you can see the terrible paint job, my dry feet and yellow nail polish still visible from my last appointment. I also have a rash from the aggressive scrubbing. I let the polish dry under one of the dryers but it was hard to see the details due to dim lighting. When I got out to my car in the sun I was very disappointed. My feet were much better off BEFORE this pedicure.

I was greeted warmly, and seated to begin my manicure. While I was getting my nails prepped the older woman (Ava?) was cleaning all the foot basins on the pedicure chairs. Y Things were going along nicely when my phone rang. Awkward, as I usually silence it at a salon. But it was the ladies next door, apparently my child was wigging out and having a hard time calming down. I actually had to leave before my nails were done to get my child. I was expecting to have to come back later (at night) to get them finished (if possible) or redone. While I was discussing this, the older woman told me to just go get him and bring him in, they would finish my nails. I explained that he was just a little guy (2ish) and could not be relied upon for good behavior. She waved her hand and said nonsense - go get him. Two minutes (or less) later we entered the shop again. My boy was visibly upset, crying softly - being pretty pitiful. Ava had him sit in a chair right next to me, and began saying how cute he was. He gobbled that right up, and with technological intervention - he calmed down. My technician inspected my nails for any damage to the polish I already had done, then proceeded to finish my manicure. Ava never left my son's side. She wasn't supervising him (and I would never have expected her to) she was just there. Maybe incase he needed something? Or just to be nice to a little kid who was having a rough day. When my nails were done, I thanked both of the ladies profusely for their patience while I dealt with the problem. Ava said that next time just to bring him with me. I am touched that she offered. Though I'm not sure how other patrons might feel about that. I left a tip that showed my gratitude and they helped me get our bags picked up and situated. On to the details (you may not be interested in the story) Each time I have come the shellac has had to be removed from my nails. The first time my finger tips soaked in acetone with a towel covering the bowl. Some fumes were present, but I have smelt worse odors in a nail shop. The second time the acetone was applied to a small piece of cotton that was put one the nail, then wrapped up in a small foil tip. I much prefer the wrapping method over the soaking method, it seem to not dry my skin out as badly. Both of the removal methods had to use scrapers, but my nails looked better with the non soak method. Each time the nail tech worked on nail beds, cut down, and shaping with a boaard. Until it looked the way I wanted it to. The technicians did a great polish application that lasted forever with no chips missing. I will keep going to this place...... Of course I will always call ahead to be sure if I can bring my son.

Ended up paying $70 for what was basically an overly thick uneven gel polish that was not done neatly. Giving two stars because they were polite and friendly and the technician took care when removing my acrylic set. The search for a regular place continues.
