My fiancée treated me to a gel manicure appointment for my birthday and she booked it the night before for the only available spot at Nail Yeah! In the past, I've been loyal to one local chain boutique nail salon, but after a bad experience the last time, I was ready to branch out and try someplace new. Enter Nail Yeah! I had the best experience. I can truly say this is where I'll be coming now. I was impressed with not only the quality of the manicure and the cleanliness of the studio, but also the conversation with my nail tech Paulina and owner Crystal and the small, intimate feeling of the salon. I wasn't elbow to elbow with other clients or squeezing around work stations! Further, I felt super safe in regards to COVID precautions being taken by the salon with everybody wearing masks, receiving a temperature check at the door, being asked to wash my hands upon entrance, and Paulina wearing gloves and changing out paper towels and towels on her work station throughout my manicure. Finally, I'm really impressed with the social media presence of Nail Yeah!. I love that Crystal uses her business and her platform to amplify important causes. I finally got a chance to check out Nail Yeah! while they were vending at Arts on the block in Raleigh. The person vending was nice, pleasant and welcoming. I liked the short pinkish color I settled on. There want many options but I am very satisfied with this color. I purchased short press ons that included the entire kit. I followed the directions. I installed right before bed (so that my nails could set without any use after install). At least three didn't even hold up for a full 24 hours. The application process was a bit difficult compared to other press ons (like Kiss). read more

This was my first time at this nail salon so I didn't see it when I first drove past. It is a small shop located in the front of a building with other businesses. There isn't a parking lot so you will have to pay for parking or try to find free street parking. There is cool art and plants in the shop. Currently there one other person that provides services in the shop. Make sure that you remove gel polish from your nails prior to your appointment or you will get charged $10 for the salon to do it. I made an appointment online & was required to pay a 25% deposit towards my services. I received several email reminders about my appointments. Crystal was finishing another client when I arrived so I had to wait about ten minutes before we got started. While I waited, Crystal told me that I could chose my nail & toe color. They have a variety of colors to choose from. Crystal did a good job on my gel manicure and took her time applying my polish. I was happy with the end result. For the classic pedicure, they have a massage chair that you can use during the pedicure. A scrub was also applied to my feet and legs. Crystal utilized paper toe separators during the pedicure and disposable flip flops at the end. She left the paper in between my toes after the pedi and told me that she was done after polishing my toes and putting on the flip flops. I left after I paid and ten minutes after leaving, the polish on one of my toes smudged. read more

I am unsure why I hadn't started going to Crystal sooner but what I do know is that I will be going from this point forward. I originally met Crystal when she came to my husbands school and did the nails of the girls that attended. She left a lasting impression on them. I booked my appointment online and it was extremely easy. I had to pay a $20 deposit which I was okay with. I booked a couple of weeks in advance. When I arrived the first thing that I noticed was the parking! I parked on the street as I didn't see a designated parking space for the nail salon. Because it was the middle of the week during the day the parking wasn't bad. Crystal has her own personal suite and it the atmosphere was pretty dope. She had local paintings on the wall and some of her nail art displayed. My favorite was her dark walls that she painted. She was very personable and easy to talk to. She offers both pedicure and manicures. I told her to do a design for me that represented the Bahamas and she literally created a master piece. She took her time and made sure that it looked really nice. Which I loved. She had an amazing playlist as well. Overall I feel like she is the best in Raleigh and her service is impeccable and you are in there alone so you get that one on one vibe. Believe it or not, my first appointment with Crystal was two days before my wedding, and it was for the gel manicure w/ surprise art (talk about blindly trusting someone) but I felt confident with my decision. I like super simple nails but Crystals work is dope, and after seeing her art, I know she can do anything! I walked in and could immediately feel her personality throughout the place. It's a super cool spot, and Crystal is full of personality. I took to her immediately and she choose the perfect color/simple design for my wedding day manicure. I went back and got another manicure before going on vacation and this was when I was really impressed with how great her work is: my manicure lasted a full two weeks while in the water and sun everyday!! I finally had a good reason to book an appointment with Crystal after following her on Facebook and Instagram for the last 4 years. So worth the wait! Once we decided on a shape for my nails, she got started doing her thing. She shaped, she buffed, she pushed cuticles. But the best part? The conversation. When someone works for themselves, sometimes they can be very quiet or shy. Or you have to pull conversation out of them. I never know if they would rather not talk and focus or ? It was very easy to talk with Crystal...I felt like she was an old friend. We laughed and exchanged parenting challenges and laughed some more. My nails look fabulous. Even my husband was impressed with how they looked. They truly left me in a great mood for the rest of the day and weekend. But my favorite part was the polish I picked out which turns color depending on whether my hands are hot or cold. On the positives, Crystal is very technically proficient, meticulous and thorough. Her shop is artfully decorated and her branding is really great. I like that she uses somewhat non-toxic polishes, and I like that pedicures are set up as single use (for better sanitation) versus those pedicure chairs, which can harbor bacteria. I like that gel polish is offered and I like that she does nail art. My pedicure ended up looking very very nice. On to the not so great. When I arrived, loud electronica music was blaring. It was very draining on my sensitive nerves, and Crystal never asked me if I'd like the music turned down, or changed to a different genre of music. This was off-putting. In addition, the leg exfoliation was done so aggressively and without mindfulness that I got temporary rashes on my legs. It felt like she was rushing me along, instead of allowing me an opportunity to feel pampered. I also didn't click with her personality. I know a person's personality is subjective, but our energy just didn't mesh well. All in all, Nails Yeah didn't feel like "my" nail salon, and I will not be back. However, I do wish Crystal lots of luck in her endeavor. She's already a success. read more

This place is fantastic! I can't recommend it enough. I was interested in nail extensions but wasn't sure which ones to get. I booked a consultation with Crystal and she was so helpful. I got sculpted gel extensions and they look amazing. They also lasted several weeks without needing a fill. Crystal does an amazing job and she is wonderful to talk with. I have been to Crystal a few times. I have never received a manicure with nail art which seems to be her speciality, however, my usual appointment consists of a manicure and pedicure - I am a Plain Jane - I know :-). I can say, by far, Crystal is very good at what she does - very detailed and knowledgeable about her craft. She is also very professional and accommodating. My last appointment was last minute on the night before I went out of town. Although, she had a prior commitment and she wasn't feeling well, she fit me in late in the evening so that I could ride off with pretty nails and feet. I thought that was super nice of her and I appreciated the fact that she was so amenable when she really didn't have to be. Separate from that, she does great work. I got a gel manicure and Paulina was thorough, kind, clean, and super fun. I felt really comfortable, love the work and the location. I also met the owner (on accident) and she was super friendly and answered all my questions even though I didn't have an appointment! Crystal helped me determine the length and shape to start out with and I am pleased! The salon is small, but I love that about this place. You get the actual one on one attention.
