I went for a basic pedicure and full acrylic set and I loved it. The result looked fantastic and the artist paid extreme attention to detail. The only reason I'm not rating it better is the pricing didn't seem honest or straightforward. They charged $40 (listed on their menu and site) for a full acrylic set, but charged extra for choosing a design (even though it was just painted tips) and for cutting and shaping the nails? Not sure why that would be extra because the nails would have to be cut anyway... it didn't seem like $120 was a fair price for the two services I received, but maybe I just don't get my nails done enough to know the current price patterns. read more

I went in for a dip manicure, and left with six of 10 fingers bleeding! The technician used the wrong tip for the buffing tool and dug the drill into my nail beds. Instead of using a serum to stop the bleeding when he nicked me the first time, he just kept drilling. The wounds are so significant, it leaves my nail beds vulnerable to get infected. Tucked into a small downtown shopping court with Seaboard Wine and Taste, HighPark is an especially good option for Five Points residents, and met all my requirements for a relaxing experience: Good command of English: Alynna (pron. "ALEENAH"), the owner. I'm afraid I did not get the name of the pedicure tech but she and the other tech helping that day spoke and understood English at a high or even native level. No drama/gossiping, especially in another language: I was there at noon on a Tuesday and it was very quiet, spa music playing, and no televisions or crosstalk. Not sure how happy I would be if the place had been hosting a wine-drinking mani/pedi group party on a busy Saturday, but I still think the tone is that of a therapeutic spa and at least the techs wouldn't be adding to the noise level. Flexible/no rushing or pressure: very relaxed, flexible, so had time to choose right color and options Normal pricing: same range. They use square and respectfully request tips be in cash $. Nice atmosphere: a bit chilly but since they recline you during the pedicure massage, I'd honestly bring a throw and an eye mask next time. Go for the hot stone and paraffin wax if cold. Mud mask is blue liquid and may have some cooling properties, so perhaps more appropriate for the summer. The floor could have been a bit cleaner, and it may be time for a sprucing up of the interior. Good pedicure chairs: I had never experienced the fully-reclining chairs before but they are clearly superior and wonder why nail spas would buy anything else. The techs control the chairs; they move your chair toward the foot spa, and during the 10 minute calf and foot massage, recline the chair. It honestly did not feel like the lotion massage went the full 10 minutes, but I may have just been that relaxed. Between the scrub, lotion, and hot stone, I was feeling pretty good. Even put on my sunglasses to dampen the glare of the ceiling lights. Dip manicures: through word-of-mouth I was advised to go to Alynna and when I called to make an appointment, the tech answering the phones said they never really knew when she would be in - never before noon and one person in the background said she'd be there the following Tuesday. Funny enough though, when I arrived, it appeared they hadn't actually written down the appointment. Alynna was fortunately free, but evidently does not do pedicures and so she took a walk-in mani while mine was done and we were lucky the handoff worked out toward the end. The other technician was tasked with removing my existing dip manicure and did friction-burn the first 3 out of 3 nails by staying too long in one place with the sander and getting too close to my nails. Once Alynna took over, I emerged with a clean, nice-looking neutral color manicure that I expect will last about 5-6 weeks. read more

I will never come back to this salon again. I have been multiple times before and have had great pedicures. I decided since I was already there to get a dip manicure as well. They were lumpy, see through, and all different shapes (I asked for coffin shape and these were all over the place). I complained and she asked me if I wanted her to redo them and I said no because if you can't do it right the first time, I don't want to waste my time again. She gave me 10$ off. That was it. We came here at the holiday season to refreshen and connect with a ladies' day at the spa. As we walked in there was a bit of a wait. But as we sat down we were immediately offered a glass of wine or other beverage, complimentary. Everyone working there was very nice and accommodating. The three of us ladies got deluxe mani/pedis with gel. We are ecstatic about our experience. Our nails look great, and we are very relaxed. I highly recommend the deluxe, as they offer a scrub and then the option of two of these three: paraffin, hot stone, mud. Last minute, I decided that my hands and feet looked too pretty to not get some waxing done as well. Lily, my phenomenal esthetician specialist, worked my eyebrows to perfection! She spent time studiously contouring my brows, same as my nails. I highly recommend Lily; she is a great conversationalist, with good spirit. A nice person overall, and caring. To top it off, she has magical massage hands. Definitely get a massage from her with your mani/pedi. I look forward to coming back for another ladies' day out again soon. I'm on a quest to find a place for my pedicures, and decided to drive 30 minutes out of my way to try HighPark Nail Spa. Why? Because I wanted to try out their cool, lay-flat chairs, of course! The laying flat was a bonus. My technician also did a great job with the pedicure and massage! I docked some points because the place is small and smelled strongly of chemicals. I understand that is part of a nail salon, but the last few I've tried were bigger/must have had better ventilation because I didn't notice the smell. In addition, the salon was not "dirty" but needs some work. It's not as pristine as the pictures make them look. The pedicure tubs are loud when the bubbles are going, and the place is loud in general. I thought I was coming to relax, but the loud, smelly atmosphere was not relaxing. Lastly, I made an appointment, but they were really overbooked. Everyone had an appointment. They appeased people by letting them sit in the chairs with their feet in water until a technician became open. While I was satisfied with the pedicure results, I think I will continue on my quest for the perfect (for me) nail salon. read more

We don't want to get home that late" I went straight from work and arrived at 5, and of course I waited for 20 minutes when I got there. I had to tell them 3 times what I wanted, I told them I had gel on my nails already and they insisted it was either acrylic or dip. The place was filthy. They never once wiped anything down. They had tons of Lysol out but no one used it. The chairs looked as if they'd never been cleaned (nail polish stains, scuffs, dirty in general). They do use individual packs of nail files for each person so that's one positive. $65 for gel mani and regular pedi - kind of pricey imo. read more

Upon arrival we discovered that the technician that we had for over a year was no longer worker here.. but others in the spa seem to be ok so we all requested female technicians as sometimes the guys are to rough or in a rush. We informed the owner of our choice and opted to wait until another female became free.. instead the older male attempted to service one of our ladies..we respectfully declined his service and informed him of our request. But instead of understanding and walking away he stood there and starred at my aunt as if she had three heads. As if the stare wasn't enough... in true cowardly fashion, he began to speak in his native language in what appeared to insults towards my aunts as three technicians looked over at him and one laughed out loud... Of course all of this took place while two of us are receiving service.. so walking out was not that easy... the technician I had was young as very INEXPERIENCED. I sat in the seat waiting for it to be over as I did not want to hurt her feelings... but I can confidently say this was my last trip to (less service) high park nail. Used to love this place but it is not as good as I remember it being ~2 years ago. It seems dirty now (or did this afternoon), chairs are old and loud, and I can't count on getting a good pedicure anymore. Maybe I am unlucky and got someone who isn't good at painting nails. I believe it was the same person who did my nails last time I was there (Jan 2020) but she did a similarly bad job then and on the customer before me who was seated next to me. She paints around your nail and then uses her fingernail to wipe the edges around your nail, which makes a mess! I can understand some wiping but this was done on every nail. Worst nail salon experience I've ever had. And it's not the first time this has happened at Highpark Nail Salon. Let me just start by saying, if you're looking for a quick in and out nail trip, you're looking in the wrong spot. They take absolutely forever to complete your service and you'll likely wait about 30-45 minutes to even be seen. Appointments don't actually matter either as they take walk-ins that come in at the same time. I had an appointment this week at 6pm and by 6:45 my nails still did not have color on them. Speaking of their colors, they have a terrible and very limited selection of gel colors and when I finally found one I liked, I asked if it had a regular non-gel match for my toes and they told me they did. Come to find out later on when they were ready to paint my nails, they didn't have the match at all. Nothing even close. I'm pretty picky about my colors too so I would have just gone somewhere else that did have my color I wanted, so really I didn't appreciate the false information. The woman doing my nails constantly got up from the table to check out other customers, answer the phone, or pay attention/walk over to other customers at the pedicure station which made for an extremely distracting appointment. Long story short, the woman ended up spilling a nail polish bottle by accident - that's totally fine, I understand these things happened so that was actually the least of my concerns for the day but since she had to clean it up I was passed over to another nail technician. Checked my phone and as I mentioned previously, 6:45pm showed up and at that point I was just completely done with Highpark and asked for them to remove the base coat (pre-gel) they had done because I wanted to leave and forgo the rest of my appointment and my pedicure. Then I finally got some attention from my technicians once I tried to leave! They were very nice and apologetic and assured me they would be quick and luckily they followed through on that statement surprisingly enough. Another time I visited Highpark for a manicure and pedicure, I was given a manicure and placed at the drying table and just completely forgotten about for my second half of my services when I had spoken with the women multiple times about wanting a pedicure as well. Just not a good or relaxing experience for me which is unfortunate as I live within walking distance. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Highpark nails again. read more

Business is great and word is out that they're one of the better salons in the area in terms of product and cleanliness; however, you can make an appointment and still end up waiting 20 minutes. I usually leave by the 20 minute mark so don't know if it would be longer - I'm busy, but who isn't? Today was the straw though. This little North Hills shop would be my go to if I lived closer. The price is about average but as far as the ambience of the salon and quality of the work I think it's better than most. Staff is friendly but not super chatty which is sometimes nice when you are trying to relax. One of the nail techs let me use her personal cell phone charger when my battery was low! Thank you thank you. They also have a large gel selection and my gel mani took about 2 and half weeks before a nail chipped. Made an appointment for 3 people for pedis. Waited for 20 minutes for 3 chairs that worked, only to find out that one of the 3 chairs STILL didn't work. The pedicures and manicures were sub par. We all had deluxe pedicures-all of us left with rough cuticles, rough nails, and rough skin. I mean, seriously? Then they apologized for the chairs afterwards saying "sorry, half of our chairs aren't working." Really?! If half your chairs aren't working you should be telling your customers up front and offering discounts, not being sneaky and making us wait under the guise that we will all have working chairs. I tipped well, because it's not in my nature not to, and I know that's how these ladies make their money, but I will absolutely not be back and would never recommend it. As for the owner answering below saying "they can't all be that bad, not all three." Yes, yes they can. And they were. And no, no one told us your massage chairs were broken when we made the appointment. And no, my mom didn't want to move because we'd already waited over 20 minutes and it was getting ridiculous. Your excuses are as pathetic as your service, and I stand by my one star review. I guess other people are okay with sub par services, it's the only way to explain why you still have customers. Give you another chance? After not only giving me bad service, but insisting it wasn't that bad? Not a chance. You're rude and your nail salon is bad. Terrible service and even worse at doing nails. First things first, they're expensive. I can deal with expensive if they're at least great at what they do (spoiler alert: they're not.) They claim to be a wine bar but when they're busy, they will not even offer a drink. They will also upcharge you $10 for "designs" (use that term loosely) without telling you until you pay. They seem to be understaffed so they rush to get it done and then it looks like crap. Don't have basic colors in gel (like gold). They put so many layers of the gel polish on that your nail polish ends up thick and gooey. Honestly I could keep going. My advice: go somewhere else. read more

We got the time we wanted, and they started us earlier than our appointment time. This salon was much nicer than another we have been to. Nice open space and noticeably void of acetone and chemical smell. Clean, and the chairs tip all the way back for ultimate relaxation. Soothing music playing in background. Nice glass of wine too! :) not a huge pour, but tasty and lasted my entire treatment. Payment was a breeze with square. Brought cash for tips as a courtesy.
