I came in yesterday for a pedicure and I am disappointed. My friend and I both agreed parts of the service were painful, and I even left with a pretty bad scratch on my heel. I called later in the day to let them know about this, as the raw skin began to start to feel like it may get infected. My call was answered by a nice lady, but she then handed the phone to the lady who did my pedicure. I wasn't even able to explain what had happened before she immediately started arguing with me about how there is no way she could have hurt me because the alcohol would have hurt it? She didn't put any alcohol on my heel. She put it on my toes before she did the nail polish. The fact that this woman did not even care to hear what I had to say and immediately started aggressively denying anything happening at all is incredibly frustrating and, if anything, just proves that she knows she messed up. At the end of our phone call, I let her know that I was trying to call so that the business had an opportunity to fix this accident, but that since she was not working with me in the slightest, I would be leaving had bad review online. I dropped by and they were able to see me immediately for a Classic pedicure, a basic treatment with a 5 minute massage. My pedicurist, Penny, despite her limited English, offered me water then gave me an excellent treatment. Let me just say I appreciate them working on all of us but not sure if we all got the same service and they don't have a color swatch for regular colors only gel so after selecting my color I had to get up from my spa chair to go select another color in regular. Service is always pretty good at village spa nails. My nail tech is sick so I went in for a quick fill in and polish change. They were accommodating which I appreciate as some nail salons won't work over others work. I like that they provide wine and they are pretty quick as well. The salon is really clean and everyone is always really attentive to the customers. They do a great job in helping you find colors or designs that work for you. I'd give their service a 4 star but the outcome of my nails, I'd give a 3 star. The polish was a bit clunky for my liking and thick around my cuticle. The nail tech was a bit heavy handed but overall it was okay. I wouldn't switch nail techs though. I think I'd like the nail service better if I was only doing my natural nails. I went here last week and had a good experience overall, other than the massage that was included in the pedicure I chose was barely provided. The guy who did my nails was GREAT, very meticulous and kind. But within 1 day my toe nail polish was chipping off (I saw them mix acetone and shake the polish) and after 3 days one of my acrylic nails had broken in half. Unfortunately this was while I was on vacation and had to deal with it for a few days until I could go back in to get it fixed. When I went back in, the front lady was rude and blamed me for the nail breaking. I explained that Idk what happened and I just noticed it broken when I woke up one morning. (I get my nails done regularly at a different salon, but am trying to find a new one and rarely have had this happen) The guy who did my nails previous took me back and was kind, but then tried to charge me for this "repair service". I didn't even bring my card in with me, due to never having to pay for a repair at any other salon I'd been to, whether it was "my fault" or not. He explained they have a 3 day grace period with repairs and it had been a week since I got my nails done. I told him this happened a few days ago, but I was unable to come in so he let me go. Unfortunately had to return bc i asked for almond nails and received an ugly oval shape with a French tip that was all uneven and poorly done. Left instead of requesting them to be fixed Because I was already running late. Was offered to come back to fix the next week. Came in and when I started discussing the design I had, I was told i would be charged $30 to have the design done again, for painted French after already spending $75...So I received a change in the shape and clear coat. Today was my first visit to Village Spa Nails. I found them here on Yelp. After a bad experience at a salon near my home I decided to try them out. Pros The nail spa is centrally located, clean, and has a number of competent techs. And, everyone that served me was friendly. I received a SNS w/ tips (ombré style) and a pedicure with regular polish. My, pedicure, nails and ombré were done very well. Cons No one greeted me or the other ladies that came in shortly after. I arrived 5 mins early and my service started 30 minutes after my arrival. I asked for almond shaped nails, but I have stiletto nails with a rounded tip. This is mostly due to the nail tech using tips that are pre-cut in the stiletto shape. Though, I loved the tech (Sarah) and the overall quality of her work, Village Spa won't be able to serve as a long term solution for me. My fiancé hates pointy nails and naturally his desires comes 1st. read more

I finally found a place that does great manicures and pedicures! I have only done the standard manicure/pedicure with lacquer. I love getting started with a leg and foot massage in a comfy chair under the cozy blanket. During my pedicure another staff member started prepping my fingernails for the manicure. While my nails were drying I accidentally messed up the polish on my pinky finger but they fixed it right up. Check-in and checkout is a pretty quick process. For parking, they have about 4 spaces reserved for customers in the garage under the apartments where the salon is located. Drive down either Clark or Stafford and turn into the garage. I tired so hard to love this place, the massages truly are out of this world...But nothing irritates me like overpriced mediocrity. This is the 4th time I've been here, and each time the polish job has ranged from ok to good enough. Today was below even the "ok" norm. Everything was out of order, the girl doing my pedi tried to paint my toes before I even had a massage, skipped my callous treatment and applied the exfoliator and mud mask AT THE SAME TIME rubbed me for no more than minute total and washed it directly off. Honestly it was a joke. I mentioned this to her (about the dual application and no callus treatment, she said nothing about the first and wasn't even able to confirm that I was supposed to receive one. M'am, I know I am, so she replied and said o maybe they do it during the massage. Nope. *For reference I always get the Lemon Quench, which comes with a 25 minute massage. The massage was so great that I was happy again by the time I walked back over to the pedi stations, but sadly that didn't last long. She put away the polish I selected and then proceeded to paint my nails. I will be very honest, I can't paint my own toes, so I get them done - even I could have done a better job. She tried, I think she really did (kind of) but she missed the corners, the line wasn't straight and overall it just didn't look good. Mediocrity at its finest, and this isn't a cheap pedicure. I even had to call attention to several things, some she fixed, some she didn't...probably because she couldn't. Everyone ain't able. I don't want her to get in trouble, but I definitely won't be back. Such a shame, the massages really had me driving 35 minutes from Durham. They alone will be missed. read more

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS: I'm not gonna lie, parking is rough if you've never been here. They act like we from NY. I'm not used to parking and walking lmbo. Hopefully the instructions save you the 15 min I wasted. Park in the 401 Oberlin Deck. Put 401 Oberlin Rd in the GPS. It's on the first floor and has signs (see attached pic). If the deck is full, there is street parking right outside of the deck. Sometimes when I come on weekends or after 5pm, I will park where Tupelo Honey customers are designated to park. Park at your own risk there. Once you get out of the parking deck, bust a right. It takes about 40 seconds to get to the Tupelo Honey, then another 60 sec to get to the nail shop. Once you get to Tupelo, make a right (Tupelo is now on your right) and then you pass Tmobile and then you will see Village Nail Spa. REVIEW: I like this place. I prefer Kwan because he is kind, gentle and pays attention to detail. Nails usually last about 3 weeks before I get I get a fill in, but if you really thuggin it, you can go about 4. I get acrylic with gel polish. A fill in takes about 1.5 hrs (no design or stones). I tried another lady who answers the phones a lot but sis was rushing and missing little things like painting all the way to the tip and she was being rough handed so yeah I'll pass on her. The ambiance is nice. They don't necessarily offer it up front each time, but ask for your wine, champagne or soda cause it's complimentary. They accept Apple Pay. P.S. Once you check in, someone may or may not greet you. If they don't after a few minutes, say something. I know, I know. They should do better. read more

I think the nails turned out great and am very pleased with that. However, the prices on the website are very deceiving. I was charged $5 for just shaping my nails, which I think is crazy! I came in here expecting to spend $41 plus tip, and left spending $63. Just know they charge you for things that are normally included at other salons. read more

I was looking for a Nail Salon open on a Sunday. Found this on Yelp and called prior to my arrival. Once I got there, they said they were booked. And I possibly called the wrong number and the was another nail salon in the area and there may be a mix up. I assured her that this was the location. She didn't believe me until I showed her the number and duration of the call in my call log. Once she noticed that there was an appointment set earlier that day she told me to come back. I asked the young lady prior to starting my nails if she was experienced in designs. She stated yes but that wasn't true. Every design I picked she was unable to do. Mind you I showed her prior to. Long story short I told her how to do the design and I only received my new set of Gel X! I also didn't get my pedicure and massage I will not be returning nor do I recommend. Holy ew. This place is dirty. I haven't been to a nail salon since the start of the pandemic who doesn't require hand washing prior to start of manicure. If germ sharing is your thing- this place is for you. There is nail dust e v e r y w h e r e, and visible too, so there certainly is 0% cleanup effort going on here. It's all over the stations, lights, walls, tools, etc. They have dried nail polish on the table tops- another easy clean if you wanted to. The inside of the gel drying machines feel covered in dust and former patrons nail smudges. This place is just top to bottom gross. GOOOOOOO HERE! This is literally a little slice of heaven on Earth. First they bring you into a dim lit portion of the spa with gorgeous leather chairs, spa music and sheep's fur. You're then reclined and a massage is given while you rest/lay down and use sheep's fur as your pillow. Once the massage is done, they complete a paraffin dip and let you chill in the dim lighting with soft music. Once that's done you move into the spa area and sit in your typical salon chair where they complete your service and also add a skin mask! This is literally the most relaxing pedicure I've ever had and it was affordable, too. In Denver this would cost you 60$. I think it was like 40$, incredible! read more

Okay... for the most part, my nails look amazing. but I can't recommend. I don't know how else to describe my experience other than extremely rushed and violent. Before I get into it, yes, I made an appointment, and told them exactly what I needed done AND asked if they had enough time to take their time. They said yes. Sarah did my nails. She told me the first color I picked didn't have enough left for a full set -- did not apologize or offer similar colors.. not a big deal! I picked a new color. When removing my previous SNS, she had me put my hands in straight acetone, not diluted at all like most places... dried my hands out like crazy. Again, not a huge deal. But then she began drilling the remaining previous SNS off at such a violent, fast pace, my hands were hurting so badly. She asked if it hurt and I said yes, and she continued without getting more gentle. Then, the manicure was rushed and incredibly painful, no massage. She did my nails, again, they look great for the most part. The whole process was so rushed I'm not surprised to find a few errors in my nails. And the worst is how badly my skin is burning and my nails hurt. :( If you're looking for super fast service at at the expense of a comfortable relaxing experience then this is for you.... My total with a 25% tip for a removal and full set of SNS + manicure was $117, which I also think is crazy. (And I moved here from Nashville!) read more

I went to get a pedicure after making an appointment mid afternoon and things were going well at first until I made it over the tub. I waited for 20 minutes until someone finally started doing my toes. The tech up and leaves half way through and I'm left to wait again for another 5 mins and she is then replaced by another gentleman who paints my toes the wrong color and is then replaced again by another woman who finishes my nails. All of the reviews that mention the lack of welcome here are correct. I came here hoping to relax -- needing an hour to get my nails done (gel mani) and just zone out, maybe have a glass of water. This was far from relaxing. From the moment I called them to see if they had availability, the person on the phone told me to be there in no more than 10 minutes. So I rushed over. It was a red flag. Parking was complicated, but now I know you can park in the deck. I thought that parking was for residents only. Check-in was awkward. There was no welcome or anything; just a motion for me to wash my hands and wait. The guy who did my nails was extremely uncomfortable. They didn't have me soak my nails at all. He didn't seem to push back cuticles at all. It took him over 2 minutes to paint 1 nail (not joking). And he attempted to give me a hand massage that was just him lightly rubbing my wrists. I really don't know what he was doing, but he didn't seem like a professional. I was concerned he was just someone's relative, and not a licensed nail tech. Someone on Yelp said to make sure you ask for a drink because they're complimentary, but cautioned that this place is stingy and wouldn't offer. They did not offer me drinks at all. I asked the guy if I could have a drink, or if they offer drinks. He just stared at me blankly and went back to the break room to grab me a water bottle. I definitely thought they were being stingy, and think they should have the courtesy to ask people if they'd like a drink. I had an awkward and unwelcoming experience here. Best Pedicure Ever! The Lemon pedicure comes with 30 minutes of foot massage in a relaxation area that's completely separate from the main treatment area. First they lead you to the comfy reclining chairs and provide complementary drinks and heated eye and neck masks. Then the magic happens.... The foot and leg massage is actually a real massage with good pressure, not just a light rub. It's a blissful experience in a quiet place for an entire thirty minutes . After the massage, you're led to the main area for the foot soak, exfoliating scrub, polish, etc. This is by far the most relaxing pedicure experience I've ever had. Went to Village Spa Nails for the first time on Friday. Even though they were busy and I didn't have an appointment the service was quick! I was in and out within an hour and a half. I signed in, got ready to sit, and they called me over before my butt even hit the chair. They had people wash their hands before being serviced and required masks due to COVID which I liked. My nail tech listened to what I wanted and did what I asked for. My nails came out even better than what I wanted. I even had one nail that was hurting and she was very careful with it. Visited this salon located in Cameron Village area, was able to snag parking in the deck connected. I was honestly disappointed in my visit, after reading such great reviews. I understand Vietnamese, so I was unimpressed with how rude some of the employees are. My pedicure was extremely rushed and I was under the dryer in less than 50 minutes. I wasn't asked if I wanted my nails cutdown, the 8 minute massage seemed like a joke to the employee who was very lightly rubbing my leg, and I didn't receive a hot towel. My husband almost didn't receive his massage until I asked out loud if he had already done his. But I assume today must have been a rushing day for some employees, because another patron was complaining for the employee to slow down. Off of this visit I won't be back, which is unfortunate because I felt like the salon had potential to be a great pedicure spot.
