We went in for mani pedis and somehow managed to spend over $200. That seems a bit crazy to me. They handed me colors and I chose one not realizing it was gel until after it was painted. They don't point you to the normal colors. My daughter had a hard time sitting still so hers came off within a week. My tips were so crooked that they broke off within a week. It wasn't sustainable for me to probably gonna stick with just a pedicure next time because if felt great but they are a bit rough with the rocks. I'm blown away by High Park Nail bar. The feeling of camaraderie as soon as you walk in, the quality service, and the simple kindness...I'm wowed. Coming from a nail salon that had zero customer service and no smiles. High Park is my new go-to. I had an eyebrow wax, gel pedicure, and an acrylic fill in. When we got there, the guy at the desk made it sound like they weren't going to have enough time to do the pedicure and dip manicure that we had been interested in. They took us back to the pedicure chairs (very comfy!) and we waited. When the nail techs came over, they assured us there was enough time, but my nail tech didn't start until 15 minutes after the other two. They were pleasant to chat with, but as we neared the time that the shop closes, you could tell they were rushing. I waited a week to post this review because I hoped the quality of both mani/pedi would have made up for their rushing, but my pedicure has not even held up a week. Disappointing for the price we paid. I will go back to the previous salon that I used over visiting Highpark again. read more

Made an appt for 1:45. Got there at 1:45 (middle of the day Friday). Sat in the chairs up front after checking in for about 25 minutes. Sat in my pedicure chair for a little over 10 minutes. By now it's 2:20. I have to be somewhere at 3. Based on my appt time and timing of the pedicure it would have been ample time to get to my commitment at 3. I had to leave with wet feet unfortunately. My suggestion to this business is to prioritize your appointments. Clearly not enough help for the people waiting for services. Will not be back. I tried High Park Nail Bar because I felt like I was always waiting (regardless of an appointment) at Nail Kitchen. I will say, I had an appointment at 1 and was seated at 1 which was very appreciated because I came on my lunch break. Their color selection is just OK - I got a regular classic pedicure. But their pedicure chairs are AMAZING. At one point in the pedicure you are completely laying down LOL luxury!!!! The pedicure was good but nothing incredible. A good, quick place to get your nails done but definitely make sure you make an appointment. I use to be a customer at the other location in Raleigh, but their service went completely downhill so I was looking forward to giving this new location a try. I had made an appointment online the day before because I dread going to salons on the weekends, but when I got there no one said to me for 10 mins even after I checked in on their POS system screen. I am giving 3 stars regardless of my experience because I am still having some hope in better service for others in the future as their skills & customer service may improve. Pro: the salon is still nice & clean; decor is cute Cons: I could understand their native language so it was a bit uncomfortable to hear the workers arguing over clients, bossing each other around & unfortunately I witnessed a client that was sitting 2 chairs away from me on being talked to by her technician in a rude manner. I looked over & the client, along with her friend both looked at me as well. Unfortunately, there are some new workers that haven't been fully trained in all areas, which kind of gave me the bad vibes since I started off with one and they changed techs on me. I am not a fan of places that tend to do that. I like to try to keep the same tech especially if they do well because it makes it difficult when it comes to how do you split their tips (?). I wasn't offered anything to drink until they were about to polish my toes by a different tech. Overall, I wanted to stay positive....but I was over it all because it was probably the fastest pedicure I ever had. I paid for a gel deluxe pedicure & was completely finished within 35 mins. I am fairly new to NC and HighPark Nail and Bar was the 2nd nail salon I tried, and I have not gone anywhere else for the last 18 months. I have witnessed nothing but a polite, helpful staff from the front desk people to all the technicians. I am never leery of having a different technician when my preferred people are not available. I've tried this salon a handful of times and keep hoping it will get better, but I am unfortunately disappointed each time. The staff is always very friendly, but each time I've been there I've had some issue and there's been multiple people coming back for fixes that I've observed. The two things that I like most are the massage chairs, which are some of the best I found in the area, and the "idea" of the wine bar. I say idea because I've actually only been offered wine one time. I think they struggled to get their license and had a break in serving, but even once they were back to serving both times I went, they never offered anything to drink. Well...we will have to see how this works out. I stopped in today for pedicure. The nail tech cut my toe nails REALLY short. She said it was to prevent my ingrown toe nails from getting worse. I do not have ingrown toe nails! I have had many pedicures and have never had my nails cut so short. Aside from that, my 10-minute massage was cut off early. As she worked on my feet, she continued to look at another customer and speak to her. Once we were finished, she left me and took over for the other person who was working on that client. I was left in the chair and was told to stay until my nails dried. I finally had enough and started to leave. She did come over and help put on my shoes so I would not ruin my nails. As I was leaving, I spoke to a person at the front desk. He apologized, which was nice, but as I told him, time will tell if my nails grow out or I end up with ingrown toe nails from my pedicure. NEVER have I had my toe nails cut so short. I will update and rate differently depending on what happens. read more

Updated Review Part 2: FRAUD! Stay away from this business at all costs! I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt when they offered to fix my nails the first time but still failed to do them right or what I asked for. I decided after being refused for a refund that I would dispute it with my bank. The owner of this business submitted a fake money voucher to my bank (from what my bank told me) stating they provided me with a voucher to come back and try them again, which is 100% false. I never received any kind of money voucher to come back and was never offered one, but with how terrible my nails looked, I wouldn't have accepted one even if I was offered one. My bank also stated to me that the business told them that if I called the business directly they would provide me with a full refund. When I called, they denied this and said they would give me a call back after looking into it. Never got a call back! STEER CLEAR! You have been warned! Updated Review: Updating my review to 2 stars. I'm not one to complain, in fact, I know what a review can do for a business and I write reviews constantly, both good and bad, however, this needs to be addressed. The owner or manager reached out to me this morning around 8:30am to try to fix the situation regarding my nails and how terrible they looked. While I appreciate the effort and business control of rectifying the situation, I was told that they would fix it for me and make it right. When I arrived, I was given to Alynna as agreed to over text message with the owner/manager. My new nail tech proceeded to file down my nails, to get what the last nail tech did off. She burned my skin and cut my cuticles a little bit to where my thumb on my right hand was stinging and bleeding but she did say sorry repeatedly. As she was filing them, the owner or manager and proceeded to try to talk me into one color even though I was promised that they would do whatever needed to make it right. I said that's fine, but can we do a design then since I paid $70 for something not even remotely close to what I asked for and had to once again take time out of my day to get them fixed. When it came time to doing the design, Alynna rushed because her next client came in for their appointment. The black polish is see-through on my nails as well so i know the coats were not done correctly. She also got nail polish on the side of my skin and didn't even attempt to clean it off. She looked at me and said, that will end up coming off. Before she put the top coat on, I once again asked if we could do matte instead of gloss and was told it would be $5 extra... WHY? I already paid to have them done wrong incorrectly the first time and STILL didn't receive that i originally asked for let alone paid for. Once again, I felt rushed, judged, and just not appreciated as a customer. You know something is wrong when your husband says, "they definitely look better than they did but no where near as good as normal." Unfortunately, I will not be returning, but again I do appreciate the owner or manager reaching out to try to fix the situation. Unfortunately, I just don't think me and this nail salon make a good fit for each other. Original Review: If I could give zero stars I absolutely would! This place is NOT how you run a business. I called prior to coming in to ask if they had anyone specifically that specialized in designs that could take a walk in. I was told yes. Upon arriving, I showed them what I wanted and they said they could do it. They gave me to a nail tech named Tom whom although was very nice, made me not only feel rushed towards the end but DID NOT give me even remotely close to what I asked for and I spent $70 DOLLARS!!! For what!?!? The ombré looks terrible, the shape is not even close to what I asked for which was coffin shaped, and I was judged the entire time for wanting Halloween designs and liking Halloween. First time here and I'm not impressed so I won't be back. I got a deluxe pedicure and this is the description on their site: Revitalize your feet in Epsom salt water, followed up with a trim/shape nail detail, cuticle care, a moisturizing masque, and circulation hot stone treatment. Finish with a tension-relieving 9-minute massage with lotion oil. Based on that description, I figured it would be 9 minutes of massage after everything else. The gentleman who did my pedicure did the masque, hot stone treatment, and massage all in 9 minutes. Even started a timer before he started the masque, so I ended up getting 2.5 minutes of a massage, which was just him rubbing lotion into my legs. He painted my nails very quickly, threw on the top coat before the polish was dry, and the polish is really lumpy and uneven. I could have said something but I already made the decision I wouldn't be coming back, so oh well! Says that it's a 45 minute pedicure but I was done in less than 30. Also the massaging chairs are so intense. Beware that after the timer runs out, the chairs reset back into their original position which includes the chair back leaning very far forward and borderline folding you in half. read more
