Really disappointed with my experience at Lorena Luca Spa. I received a promotional email encouraging me to book for October 28th at 2pm, so I did -- or at least I thought I did. Their system somehow scheduled the appointment for October 22nd instead, which I only discovered when a confirmation email arrived late in the morning that same day. Unfortunately, I didn't see it right away and was then charged a no-show fee for an appointment I never intended to book. It's really sad when a company makes an error and puts the blame on their customer instead of taking responsibility. First off I will start this by saying that this is maybe my fault. I am sure the manager will reply to this yelp to justify the $72 cancelation fee, but this was still at a minimum blame on both sides. I tried to do something special for my wife's birthday by having her and her friend from out of state get facials when they were visiting. I called to ask for two facials on a Saturday morning and they said they wouldn't be able to accommodate but could do a 4pm. Now at this point they claim to have mentioned that these were back to back facials, but I thought they were two facials at the same time from 4 to 5pm rather than 4 and 5pm. Needless to say, I feel in the right her but it could have been my error. The manager called to explain I had apparently confirmed the back to back - which is my misunderstanding and perhaps the bookers for not clarifying this is not simultaneous as I had specified at the beginning - but I understood that this was the policy and took the "L". However, when I got home I was told by my wife that they had shown the confirmation which only included the one 4pm facial and that in the multiple confirmations there was no 5pm. My wife had shown this to the people at the SPA and the front desk understood the miscommunication and made it apparent to my wife they would not be charged the cancelation fee. When I called back to explain to the SPA, they said the this was a system issue and still held to the charges. So for whomever is still reading this review, perhaps you side with the business and think I was partially in the wrong. However, would you go to a business that would try and gouge $72 bucks out of you rather than having you go back as a return customer? I know my wife won't be a customer in the future. read more

I was searching for spas on Yelp and came across Lorena Luca. In Raleigh it is tough to find a full service day spa. The type where you can head in early for your treatment, relax, read a book, get your treatment, then lounge in the sauna, and finally shower before you head out. Enter Lorena Luca! As far as my knowledge goes they are the only spot in Raleigh that offers these amenities and the only spot that offers more in the area is the Umstead spa. I wanted a facial and massage, but booked too late and had to go back on two seperate days (poor me) ;). I was on vacation from work so decided to book it. I loved it! I wish I could go in everyday! Although the relaxation room could get a bit loud I still enjoyed it. I brought my book and grabbed a cup of tea and relaxed before my services. As far as the services go I enjoyed both my facial and massage. Candace did my facial and Lea did my massage and both were great, I'd book with both of them again. I thought the showers were nice in the locker room, they had a nice spa like feeling to them. The amenities in the locker room weren't amazing but they had all the basics like hair brushes and blow dryers. They are located in Cameron Village, basically a floor above the ABC Store. If you are looking for a local Day Spa I highly recommend Lorena Luca. The only thing they are missing is a hot tub/small whirlpool setup. read more

I don't have much experience with spas or massages, so perhaps I may update my review down the road. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our experience. We went for an 80min couples CBD massage. I don't have any trouble spots, so mine was for pure relaxation. My wife has many areas that need attention, and she confirmed that all the right spots were hit without having to give any direction. There are separate saunas and steam rooms in each locker room. And everything seemed to be very clean. Everyone is nice, and they don't rush you out the door. So feel free to relax in the sauna after your massage. We plan to visit again. read more

Ok, I have to downgrade my initial rating because my last massage was so very mediocre and disappointing. The masseuse seemed very inexperienced and/or misguided in her technique (for example, leaving my arms dangling off the table and massaging them downward for the blood to pool into my hands?! so uncomfortable!) and in leaving my entire top half uncovered and cold in the middle of winter despite my telling her I was cold. She also did not focus on the areas I asked her to. And she kept pulling my hair. For the prices they charge here, I cannot justify going back for a massage of questionable quality. read more

Everyone greeted us warmly and professionally. The facility is beautiful and clean and the space provides a restful experience. My daughter loved her massage and my facial was exceptional. Well...where do I start!? I went there for a massage with reflexology added and end up spending an entire morning, despite me having tons to do that day. I love the steam room and the sauna located in the locker room. Even the wait area is super relaxing. I found a book in my purse and just linger there while sipping on my tea. This was my first time at this spa located in Cameron Village. Upon entering the spa I was welcomed by a beautiful waterfall near the entry door. The spa is decorated beautifully with modern decor & had relaxing music throughout the business. The front desk staff was very nice & helpful. She provided me with a tour of the facility. The spa provides you with shoes, robes, & lockers for your belongings. Snacks such as fruit and nuts, water, & flavored tea are provided while you wait to be serviced and after your massage. Wifi is also available & there are several products available to purchase. I was impressed that the spa has a sauna & steam room for you to utilize after your service. Lizzy gave me my massage & she did a really good job. I loved that she put warm towels on my back and eyes during the massage. I tried to schedule a spa day at the Umstead and they were completely booked for the time I wanted so they referred me here. First off, this place is absolutely nothing like the Umstead. Please keep that in mind if they refer you here so you won't have the wrong expectations. But with that said, they do provide excellent service and every single person I encountered had a big smile and was extremely friendly and welcoming including the receptionist, the massage therapists, and even the employees passing in the hallway! The locker rooms are clean and there's a small sauna and a small steam room in the locker room. There is also a small shower area with two showers and a single stall restroom. The waiting area where you wait after you change into your robe and slippers is kind of run-down and the books and magazines are old and dusty. Also the snack area in there wasn't clean or organized. It was just large open containers of nuts and dried fruit and a carafe of lukewarm water which wasn't presented particularly well. There is a mini refrigerator so I opened it looking for cold water but the fridge was empty. That wasn't a dealbreaker but I must admit I expected better in that area. I was there for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. I added body brushing and the "happy feet" exfoliating foot treatment to my massage as well. The massage was pretty good and the exfoliating treatment on my feet was nice as well but the body brushing was more ticklish than therapeutic because it was done so lightly. Overall the experience was good. I definitely wouldn't call this place luxurious by any means (even though their prices are almost on par with the Umstead). If you are in the area and want to get a single treatment like a massage or facial then go for it but if you're looking to have a relaxing luxurious spa day, this is not the place. If you're looking for other treatments they also do cool sculpting and various injectables as well so I would come back to try that. read more

Well that's it, I'll never go to another masseuse again because there is no way it gets better than Shermicka. From start to finish the Signature Massage by Shermicka was so well done. Medium pressure was perfect. I feel like with medium pressure I usually find it either too hard or too soft but this was perfect throughout. She just did a phenomenal job with the massage - usually there is at least one moment in a massage where I'm not comfortable or something disappoints or feels awkward, sometimes it even feels robotic - to the point where I thought I'd stop getting them because maybe I am just not into them anymore. My sister bought me a gift card here though so I used it today and am so glad I did. I'll recommend Shermicka to everyone from now on and can't wait to come back. My parents gave me a gift certificate for Lorena Luca for Christmas and I have been looking forward to this appointment for weeks, and boy did it exceed my expectations! Deb was my masseuse, and let me just say she has got some MAGIC in her hands! She asked where I'm having pain and discomfort, and I told her my back and shoulders since I work a desk job and sit at a computer all day, everyday. She listened and spent so much time on my back. She even worked on my hips and did some stretching. I was soooooo relaxed that I fell asleep a couple times. It's been about two hours since I got done and I'm still so relaxed and loose. Such a lovely experience at Lorena. From start to finish, the service was excellent. The receptionists were so welcoming, followed by the kind and talented massage therapist, and the well-informed and friendly esthetician. I was walked through the spa and lounge area as soon as I arrived. They had everything from a sauna to a steam room to a relaxation room with cucumber water and snacks. I booked a back-to-back signature massage and signature facial. Bother were soooo relaxing and the facial has left my skin flawless for the last 2 weeks. I particularly enjoyed the esthetician's advice on my skin routine. She helped me figure out what products were best for my acne-prone skin and I can already see a difference. We we first treated to a relaxing soak in the jacuzzi tub with jets. This alone was awesome but the we received an 80 minute massage that felt like pure heaven. Once the massage was over, I took advantage of the sauna room. I must say, this was the best spa treatment that I have ever received. Do yourself a favor and come. My friend and I visited Lorena Luca for a spa afternoon to celebrate a number of life/job accomplishments. I give our experience three stars, based on the following: Pros: - My facialist was VERY nice. - We were able to book just a few weeks out with no trouble. The online booking system is a breeze. - My facialist recommended products but didn't try to pressure me on them obnoxiously or oversell me. I ended up purchasing a cleanser based on what she was seeing on my skin. - The atmosphere was relaxing and the facilities were clean. - My appointment started on time and the front desk staff members were nice and attentive. - The steam room was great (although I'd love a eucalyptus scent added like the Umstead has in its steam room). Cons: - The actual facial itself was just okay (short, lackluster neck/arm massage; lukewarm towels; not a ton of facial soothing or facial massage like I've gotten at other spas; her motions weren't fluid and it just seemed a bit disjointed overall. She did great on the extractions, though, so I still tipped 25%, but definitely not the best facial I've ever had). - Inexplicably, wine and snacks are no longer being offered. My friend asked if there were refreshments, and the staff pointed us to some tea bags and flavored water. We asked why wine was no longer provided as an option, and the staff member mentioned "COVID had changed everything." We are ABSOLUTELY understanding of any COVID protocols in this day and age. If the spa had asked us to wear masks, show vaccination cards, social distance, or had eliminated use of communal areas like the sauna/steam room due to COVID, in addition to eliminating refreshments, we'd completely get it. But Lorena Luca does not require masks, the steam room and sauna are open, no distancing is required, and water and tea are already offered. What difference would it make, from a COVID perspective, to limit wine/soft drinks/snacks, when everything else in the spa is back to business as usual? Our celebratory afternoon was a bit dampened, and had we known we couldn't have a champagne toast, we likely would've gone elsewhere. - The sauna in the ladies' room was barely warm. I'm not sure if it's broken, but no one mentioned there were issues when we indicated we wanted to use it. - A staff member came in and saw that someone had knocked over a few hand towels from the stack on the sink. She looked accusatorily around the room and said, "What happened here, who did this?!" A), It wasn't me, and B) The harsh tone was not appreciated in such a calm environment. - The prices are some of the more expensive in the Triangle, which I'd gladly pay again if the above issues were ameliorated. But given that the facial was so-so, and the amenities were lacking, I think I'll look elsewhere for my regular monthly facial. read more

This place was just what I needed. After living in Wake Med hospital for a month I needed to decompress and sweat. After searching up and down I found this place which allows you to use their spa amenities (dry sauna and wet sauna) for $35 for a hour. You get a pair of rubber flip flops in your size, a robe and endless towels all included in the $35 price. There is a lounge area with tea, spa water, snacks, reading material and 3-4 different couches to lounge on. You have to walk up a few flights of stairs or take the elevator, but once you reach your destination there is a sense of serenity that takes over. I was thoroughly impressed and so glad that I chose this place over the overpriced Umstead spa. I met a lovely soul in the dry sauna named Ray that recommend that I see Michelle for a massage, so on my way out I booked a hour massage for two days later. Can't wait! I visited today for the melting mint massage. This was my second massage experience at this spa. I must say that it was absolutely wonderful. The masseuse, Cat, asked a lot of questions before we started to make sure that I was comfortable and that she knew exactly where to focus. The peppermint Essential oil only elevated the experience. This has been one of the most relaxing spa experiences I've ever had! in this visit, I also had A laser hair removal treatment. This was far better than waxing at any level! Only reason I'm giving them a star is because their hand lotion smells incredible and I like their sauna. Also their locker rooms are clean. Now, I've gotten a few services here. I'll start off with a chemical peel...which actually ended up breaking me out. To be fair, after I emailed them pics of the reaction I got on my face, they asked me to come in. Once I got there, I was told by the aesthetician that I'll have to pay for the treatment (to fix what they did to my skin...) I refused and got pretty upset so they basically agreed to just do it...like you should actually be trying to FIX what you've done. Got a massage; it was okay. Decided to give one more shot. Got a syringe of lip filler done here, with Melissa (and no this wasn't my first time getting lip fillers). Now, the shape was great, good symmetry. BUT -- I got these bumps on my lips, which she said should go down in a couple weeks (I sent her pics)...and when they didn't, she asked me to come in to get the filler bumps dissolved (which were HER fault and caused by bad injectors) she didn't even offer to re-inject the filler back in that she dissolved. Keep in mind, shes dissolving product that I paid for...and because of her mistake, I wasn't offered any kind of reimbursement for the filler she dissolved. Anywho, I won't be going back. Also, they give you uncomfortable reusable rubber slippers, that everyone uses - gross. I suggested they give disposable ones, or just bring your own. Update to owners comment: I have actually not have similar experiences at any other med spas, not sure where you got that information. This was my second time getting lip filler and I didn't have any issues my first time at the med spa I went to. It's been a couple months since my visit, but I had a great experience and somehow just forgot to yelp about it. I did a body scrub/massage package and it was luxurious, comfortable, and wonderful. The tea they have is really nice in the waiting room. There was this pumpkin flavored one and I need to find it again, because it was so flavorful and refreshing. The amenities are high-quality. The staff is friendly. This salon is on the pricey side, so it's not a place I can visit all the time, but next time I wish to splurge, I'll heavily consider returning here. read more

I went for a facial and massage. The space is super cozy and relaxing and the girl at the front immediately whisked me away to grab my robe and settle in. The facial was nice, but when telling the lady who did it what my concerns were, she seemed extremely rushed and didn't seem to take what I said seriously. It was if she thought I had nice skin so I shouldn't be worried about anything. Her only response to my concern about lines was get botox - everyone does it now. No alternative options. I left looking fresh but also a bit like she didn't take time to understand my concerns so she did... whatever I guess. I didn't feel confident and relaxed, I kinda felt like I had done something wrong by not having a list of products I use or by saying that just because my face wasn't covered in acne I shouldn't have insecurities. Lorena Luca is a great spa. I come ever 6 weeks or so for a wax and actually look forward to that! From the moment you step through LL doors you feel relaxed and are surrounded by visually beautiful space. The lounge is quiet and comfortable, but I never have to wait long. The treatment rooms are bright and clean. Katie Mac is my preferred esthetician and she is fabulous. She's friendly, knowledgeable, and always does a great job. One of my favorite things about Lorena Luca is there pre-booking discount for clients that book their next appointment before leaving the spa. They have great hours and I've never had trouble getting an appointment in a reasonable time frame. The services are priced fairly for the quality/experience. I've been eyeing this spa for awhile since I shop at Fresh Market next door often. Extremely happy I finally gave them a try. I made a reservation for the Luminous O2 facial. The spa itself is gorgeous, staff are friendly, and my facial was good. The spa has everything you need, showers, sauna, steam room, waiting room with teas and snacks. Decor is beautiful and you literally bathe in relaxation. I'm also obsessed with their robes! The softest I've ever had on from any spa! My skin looks good and has a nice glow to it. Upon closer inspection, I feel like extractions could've been done better, especially around the nose area. I'm satisfied with my service but there's still something missing that I can't put my finger on it. I'm thinking maybe I chose the wrong facial? I'll have to give it another go and try out a different one once it's time for my next! Head's up, there's only one bathroom in the women's room. Other than that everything is perfect. I have always admired Lorena Luca spa, but never actually went for an appt there. The main/only reason I now go there is for Tara (med aesthetics). She is the best in the Raleigh area. Im from DC, lived in LA where the standards in this industry are very high. Tara has a very artistic touch which is hard to find and not easy to teach. Simply put: she just gets it. Other than her professionalism and expertise, she is also genuinely warm, kind, friendly with a calming nature to her which I love. I booked a couple's massage for my boyfriend and I's anniversary back in March. Pros: This is a very nice spa with that "luxury" feel. The hours are convenient, and the place is super clean and comfortable. Each of the locker rooms (male and female) have their own sauna and steam room. I kind of wish there was a co-ed sauna or steam room that you could enjoy with your significant other, but I get there are probably rules against that. After changing into your robes you are directed to a "relaxation room" where they have comfortable couches, tea, water, etc. You stay in here for a little while until your massage therapist comes to get you. The massage itself was wonderful - relaxing but still with enough pressure to work through these back muscles. After your massage you can go back to the relaxation room or saunas for probably however long you want. Cons: They were sneaky with pricing. Thankfully, I exited the locker rooms after our massage before my boyfriend did so I could pay. The bill was $230 - $60 more than I expected it to be. I certainly didn't want to make a scene, but I did mention that I was quoted a different price. They explained that price was for a 50-minute massage and we received a 65 minute massage. I didn't argue with them since I already had the services done. Now, when I originally called to make the appointment I was told the couples massages started at $170. I said I wanted that, but then they signed me up for a 65-minute massage without clearly stating "Hey. I know we just quoted you $170 but I'm signing you up for a longer massage so it will cost more". I would have been just fine with the 50 minute massage, and they didn't verify it before our treatment. Update: I just checked their website and realized $230 is for an 80-minute massage so now I have no idea what they were doing with the pricing. I don't mind paying a lot for a special experience, but I don't appreciate surprises when it comes time to pay. Aside from this issue the spa experience was awesome. read more

I received a lovely gift card from a client and checked this place out last Wednesday. Parking was excellent. The reception area was just okay along with the relaxation room. Nothing fancy for the prices. (I travel a lot for work and have seen numerous spas). Kelsey was my masseuse and if you like a firm massage, she's the winner! She finds the knots easily and really focuses in on them to try to loosen them. I was sore for a few days after. She also gave me a tip after the massage and said that I need to stretch my chest more after work outs. I was charged for a free add on service though but I texted the salon and they had removed it within minutes. I also purchased some mascara there that was just so-so. After spending over $4k at Lorena Luca this year alone on Botox, fillers, 2 Vivacae RF Microneedling treatments, a facial, and skincare products, I must conclude that Lorena Luca is overated, not worth the money. And today they threw away a valuable customer. As a former esthetician, I tend to be overly understanding with all types of service providers, so for me to write this means they definitely screwed up. As a business development leader for one of the top medical diagnostic companies in the world, I think they could also use a lesson in customer retention. It has been a series of disappointments that led me to write this today, so I will start with the prior unfulfilling experiences; 1.) My introduction to the spa last year was a signature facial, which was great, so I returned. But the same esthetician seemed to have lost her touch and I felt unwanted and uncomfortable on her table. I am not sure what was going on with my decision making skills, but even after that after I purchased approx. $800 of the overpriced fluffy French BR line that she suggested and knew instantly it was a mistake. I guess you could call me a junkie for skincare. It irritated my skin and still sits in my cabinet unused. This line was not a good fit and if she would have listened to my needs and prescribed SkinBetter or ZO, it would have been a slam dunk (I am 46 and need some heavy lifting at the moment - I am not in maintenance or coasting mode). Lesson learned I thought. I moved on to the med spa anyway. 2.) The Vivace RF Microneedling - How can this go wrong? Well, you can get it elsewhere for less and after 2 treatments the results were underwhelming, but I wanted to stick with my new med spa esthetician since she did my fillers and botox, I liked her, and know it's a process. In addition, I have had different types of microneedling that don't cost as much and give more immediate results. Now, what made me decide to ditch them is this - Tomorrow, I was scheduled for my third Vivace RF treatment. I called to reschedule this costly treatment of $1000 (plus tip). Their website states the cancelation policy is 12 hours - the gal on the phone said she would have to charge me because it was under 24 hours (24 not 12 like the website states). Ladies & gents, it was 22.5 hours, you would think that they would give me a little grace. She even went to the business manager and they would not oblige, so they charged me a $100 cancellation fee and told me I was fortunate that I didn't get the $150 charge...twice?! I am familiar with the need for cancellation fees and there are certain people you have that policy in place for. However, anyone with business savvy would take into consideration each client's unique position, know who they are dealing with - a valued customer or not. I had never canceled before. More importantly, I have spent a significant amount of money with Lorena Luca and would have continued to do so. In addition, on their website, the cancelation policy stipulates 12 hours as the threshold, the message is inconsistent. I told them I would not reschedule if they did this and Chelsea would lose me as a client. They were just fine with losing me as a client. Ouch! I am a hardworking mother of a 3 and 4 year old. I have other things to spend my money on and they have shown me they could care less about me choosing to spend with them or even ever returning. Since I am relatively new to the area, I have no difficulty continuing to search for another skincare provider in the Triangle.
