Ahhhh the glorious ultra-cheap Los Angeles mani/pedi. I figured they're a dime a dozen, so I got a pedicure and gel manicure at LB Fashion Nails six days ago. Two of my toenails' polish has already chipped completely off, and that's highly unusual for me after a pedi. What's worse, is that my gel manicure that I was told would last "a really long time" is already starting to peel off on six of my 10 fingernails. It hasn't even been one week! And don't get me started on how painful it was as Lee ripped off my cuticles. I've never experienced such rough treatment, and the manicure wasn't followed up with lotion and/or a massage. The service was nice enough (though the woman doing my manicure kept pushing an eyebrow wax on me even though I repeatedly said my skin is too sensitive to wax) but I expect more than that. I paid $53 PLUS tax and tip for a pedicure and gel manicure, which was a bit of a kick in the pants since I later spotted the same for only $42 on Robertson Blvd. in Beverly Hills. New to the neighborhood I had Siri help me find a nail spot with decent reviews....I've had my nails done many, many of places. I even have my license to do nails, but I have had my fair share of doing them myself and sometimes I just don't want too. This place was not around the corner from my house but I figured it should be good knowing it was in a really decent neighborhood. The lady instantly was very polite, I liked her so much I let her wax my eyebrows. I even took my boyfriend to her to give it a try three weeks later. That visit was a whole different story and ball game. As I randomly decided to switch from gel to pink and white , she said alright confidently. I'm going to make this short. The Worst, absolute worse pink and whites I have ever had done. She not only abused me while doing the process but severely glued my skin that was already sensitive from the gel being peeled of(which is already a bad sign) gel should be taken of with foil and special polish remover. I mean gluuueeeed. Thin thin sore skin that is glued to a nail for a girl is painful but the glue was so thick and so strong, I was bound to shed blood. A lot if I wasn't carful. So It didn't fully come apart for a week and as I pulled it she ripped my cuticles twice in the process! Everything I did was painful. When I told her about it she said "no no it fine!" The glue should never touch the skin because it is a chemical, especially if you have open sore because she doesn't know how to remove prior nails.I then informed her I had my license and I know it's a violation to have any nail product touch the skin. Not only were the nails chunky and very unnatural...they absolutely hurt even more because of the white, thickness and being connected to my cuticles! When I showed my pain and flinched as she clipped my cuticles not once but twice, so deep they started to bleed profusely. She still insisted "she do good job, she will file" not true. Her painful filing was so painful and very short. Which means no detail and pure laziness.This was the last and worst experience I ever had. Half way through, I got up to leave but she swore she would "fix". This my friends was something I would call nail abuse. I still to this day think because my boyfriend wanted to come back to wax his eyebrows, she took offense to it. Anyone who ever had any kind of license with beauty would see that my nail job was something vindictive and cruel. That she wanted me to go home with glued on misery that would be so hard to take off anytime soon. That either way I would endure suffering pain that I spent 60.00 on. Like a Kicked and abused dog numerous times is how I felt till I got the damn things off. Bitch. Which by the way was done by a very shocked and sympathetic professional. :( read more

I just had my fill in today from the new set Lee did for me 2.5 weeks ago. The new set looked great until it started growing out and looking uneven and lumpy. This fill in did not go the way I wanted. She does not listen and just wants to do it her way, like so many of these ladies at nail salons. I had white tips with my new set and today I wanted her to fill them with white powder. White tips and white powder always look way better than painted on white tips. She encouraged me to let her paint them, acting like it was better because it would save me money. I think she just wanted to do it her way. I don't know why I let her convince me. They look cheap. Oh and before she filled, she tried saying she needs to put on a new set because they're lifting. They definitely were not! It was a new set! Then when I said no she said with a lil attitude "well I do fill but you no come back to complain" Oh lady... You also have to watch her on little details, like uneven filing or putting a nail on crooked. Both my visits she did that and she tried to deny it. Why do these nail salon ladies always deny when they mess up? That drives me crazy! She also abused me a bit with hard filing and pinching skin. If I flinched she kept going. So I made a sound out loud, and then she finally eased up. Overall, not the worst place nor the best. If Lee does your nails, just watch her a bit and be persistent when she pushes back on what you ask for. Yell a little when she hurts you, otherwise she won't get it. read more

There is nothing better than a business that offers consistently good service. I go here twice a month to get my eyebrows waxed and occasionally I treat myself to a mani/pedi. This is a two person operation, so it's always the same people working on you. Lee, is the same woman who waxes my eyebrows every single time. She is an artist with the eyebrows. There hasn't been one time where she didn't wax my eyebrows to perfection. I get a lot of compliments on my brows and I owe it all to this place. I will never go anywhere else. I've been going here for almost two years now (as of 2009) and I hope I'll be able to go here for a long time to come. However, business is sometimes slow for them and I can tell it worries them greatly. So if anyone out there needs an amazing wax, head over to LB Fashion Nails. I'm only giving this place one star because it was clean and they were polite. The woman did my nails and I encountered a lot of similar experiences that people have already mentioned... The color selection for a gel manicure was minimal. And when I saw the swatches painted with globs of polish that was when I thought to myself "oh shoot... My nails are going to look like this, Uhhh ok just pray that they won't and the person who painted these doesn't work here" mmmmmmm no. Didn't happen. She was very rough. She used an electric file to shave down my shellac, WHY? Just use a file. Plus she filed THROUGH MY NAIL and it hurt to the point where I jumped and said something but she kept filing. Trying my best to stay positive I convinced myself it wouldn't be a waste of money. She yanked my cuticles out like a crazed warlord, then when she cleaned out my nails from underneath she stabbed me literally under every single nail and cut me several times. After she was done assaulting my nails she had me get up and wash my hands? Idk I haven't had to get up to wash my hands since I was 16 and was getting acrylics. Not a huge deal but I was just getting to hate everything at this point. Just please paint my nails and let me leave so I can get out. Also, during this entire experience they were playing the live funeral for Nancy Reagan. Beautiful, highly respected woman of course, but when you're trying to relax and get your nails done it's hard when the lady doing your nails is stabbing you bc she's watching a funeral and you're trying to find your zen but the energy of death is in the air from them zoning out on a funeral. Ah yes, the globs and globs of nail polish that I knew were coming had finally arrived right one schedule. I've been getting my nails done since I was 14 and this... THIS... Was the WORST paint job I have ever had. You know how lunch ladies back in the 90s movies dramatically scoop mashed potatoes with a ladle and mindlessly slam them on your tray to get you out of their sight so they can end their day and go home to their cats? This is how she painted my nails. She put on two coats before even putting it under the UV light on one hand and then she only put one coat on my other hand... It was SO BAD I left and on my way to my car I called my usual salon (praying that they were open because the only reason I came here was bc my usual place was closed when I drove by) and I begged them to let me come in to change my polish. I went and they laughed at my nails because they were horrifying. There was so much thick nailpolish on them I had to soak them in acetone for OVER 30 minutes just to get it off. I really wanted to like this place ... Sadly it sucked. The lady did my manicure that included no massage lotion or oil like every other place does! Eh I let the dry manicure go because the polish was done well and looked cute. Now my pedicure was and continues to be a hot mess. The man cut my skin around the nail on three different occasions... So much so that I woke up with scabs around my nail bed... So not cute! He offered the callus remove and I said ok... He runs the gel stuff on my feet then busted out a cheese grater thing..weird never had some cheese grate my feet during callus removal before..he starts going to town on my big toe I tell him to stop because it hurts he continues ... I tell him you cut me he looks squeezes the area with the big gash of missing skin and says see nothing your toe is just like that. Another thing it's about 6-8 dollars more than other nail shops in the area who don't give you dry dusty manicures and don't accuse the costumer of having one funky toe with missing skin when you damn well know that chunk of skin was sitting in that tortuous cheese grater! read more

I love this place. I seriously don't know why they have bad reviews. They do amazing work and are extremely thorough. If you want super cheap nails and mediocre work, I guess you would go somewhere else. They're not crazy expensive but they're worth the money they charge. They have the most amazing selection of Opi nail colors and the owners are sweethearts. Come here if you want a good job! read more
