My food was all delicious; however, my friend (the birthday boy) ordered the brisket sandwich. In his own words it tasted "like rubber" and he complained it was too expensive. I told him that's simply the price one has to pay for good quality BBQ, but upon further inspection of his sandwich, we realized they had actually cooked a Yoda. I ordered take out from here and was happy with the food. I was a little bummed that my takeout container for the brussels sprouts was a little light. I appreciate that they had pulled chicken on the menu given NC is so big on pork a lot of places feature it almost exclusively. I was feeling spontaneous a few Saturdays ago so I collected the crew and we took a ride to The Boxyard. Love the concept btw. Too be honest a blogger I followed had posted a brisket sandwich from here that I had to try. It was killin' me slowly. They were out of the chopped brisket and didn't have the fried oyster sandwich that we were considering based on our online perusal and menu. Maybe they were specials. I'm unsure. We ordered two brisket sandwiches, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, ribs, fries and two apple caramel slushees. Brisket was legit. It unfortunately didn't look as awesome as the bloggers, but I get it. Enjoyed the pickled onions and pickles with it. The macaroni wasn't momma's but the green onions and crunchy things were a good addition. I don't do beans, but there were not any left so they must've hit the spot. The fries were nothing special. The ribs however, were the surprising star. They were cooked perfectly. The gristle and meat literally melted in your mouth. We of course tasted the slushees before ordering, so expected to enjoy those. Like most barbecue spots, this is not a inexpensive outing but it was enjoyable and the location is a vibe. read more

Lawrence BBQ is one of the best, if not the best, bbq restaurants in the RTP. The food is always amazing, specifically the brisket. People who say it's overpriced have never been to a true bbq restaurant. $16 for a brisket sandwich is a good price considering the quality of the meat. Not only that, the amount of meat that they give you is way more than what other restaurants would give you for that price. I've been to other bbq restaurants that charged that much for 3 slices of fatty brisket. Expensive! Located in Boxyard with plenty of outdoor seating and sometimes, live music. We minimally fed our family of 4, no extras, at $84. We felt nickeled & dimmed every which way. We ordered 4 pulled pork sandwiches and 3 very tiny sides of mac n cheese and 2 soft drinks. It was a good sandwich but pretty dry due to only a swipe of sauce on the bun, but they'll charge you $0.50 for each additional sauce. If you want beer, there is Lawrence Beer for $8 per can. No ketchup available. We waited about 12 minutes to pick-up our order at the window. There's no indoor AC seating. Next time we will bring our own drinks ...if there's a next time. read more

I haven't had Lawrence BBQ in over a year but I've loved in the past and am still impressed! They just opened in their permanent spot at Boxyard RTP and I'm so glad they're in there. I went to Lawrence BBQ with a fellow barbecue aficionado for the first time this week. Between us, we had the brisket, pulled pork, and pork ribs. All three were excellent! The brisket was incredibly tender, lots of marbling, and good flavor. The pulled pork was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. The ribs were also pretty good. This is a solid 4-star+ barbecue joint, but the eating is strictly outside. We went there on a cold February afternoon. If you pick a beautiful Carolina day in the spring or fall this certainly would be a 5-star barbecue joint! read more

The food was good ...the ordering process was a mess! I brought my parents with me (their first visit to this place) and they were not sure what to order and the menu is confusing. After waiting in line for more than 40 minutes we asked the lady taking orders if she could help us decide- she told us that if we had questions about anything we would need to get out of the order line and wait to speak to someone else that could answer our questions! Well, once we made it to the front, ordered and received our food, it was time to tuck In. Well.... the food did not disappoint. The pulled pork sandwich was really tender and tasty. Sometimes in a global pandemic you just want some good ole smoked bbq. Holy crap. If their takeout is even half as good as having it served in house my tongue might explode. Me and two friends had a socially distant picnic and tried almost everything: brisket, pork belly, the elote style corn (amazing), ribs, slaw, potato salad...everything was top notch. I love good Q and I will shoot you straight. I give 3 stars because: 1) The slaw is laced with red onions. Not cool. If you're gonna do that, then serve more than one slaw and make the other good coleslaw. Also, I just can't get with that when it is automatically put on the sandwich as well. This ain't NYC. Fancy BBQ sucks. 2) The wings are great, however we could only eat 3/4 of them because the rest were over-fried to a crisp. The wings we could eat were great and the white bbq sauce they served for the dip was great. I would come back for these. 3) The pulled pork was great and the vinegar sauce was on point. The thing for pork lovers. Great job. 4) The brisket was just okay by itself. The thicker sauce they served with it was unique and that saved it. What was that, btw? Not bad, good stuff. 5) The deviled egg potato salad was laced with onions. I get it with the salad, but not with my deviled eggs and shouldn't be there. Come on. 6) The mac n cheese is great. I would come back for this. 7) They offer free beers in the waiting line from the resident Fullsteam. I appreciate that. Great but not good, and they have limited drink offerings. The smoked drink is foul and weird tasting. Just offer a Cheerwine slush straight up. Serve the bomb, not it's smoked out cousin. Ask Hap's in Salisbury about that. What can't I say ladies and Gents. Now and days it is so hard to find a place or someone that makes authentic BBQ. I had the ribs! Well of course I had to have the ribs. If you claim to be BBQ I have to put your ribs to the test, and may I say Lawrence you passed! The meat fell right off the bone, and if you know your food that's a good sign baby! We've been to Lawrence Barbecue many times since opening and love bringing our out of town family here. The food is delicious- never have had a miss. Our favorites are the Bungalow Burger when they have it (we lurk their Instagram for this very reason), the brisket, the wings, and of course the AP fries. Do try the burger if it's available- it's one of our favorite burgers ever. Period. There are a lot of negative reviews here on pricing, but if you follow the restaurant on any social media, you know that their ingredients are fresh and they really take their time with prep work to make quality food. Holy smokes (pun intended). Best smoked chicken wings and ribs I've had in Raleigh, bar none. Wings are super tender and smoky with a great crispy exterior - get them with the Alabama white sauce. It's like wings with ranch, but better. Ribs are super tender but still have a nice snap to them. Sweet and tangy sauce on the exterior. Only negative is that we only ordered a 1/4 pound of them. Brisket & pulled pork were very good but not the stars. As for sides, deviled egg potato salad is a winner. Hot honey brussels sprouts were perfect. Baked beans were good but a little on the vinegary side for my liking - wish they had been sweeter. Wife had a s'mores milkshake that looked insane (and for $8.50 it better have been!) This place has my favorite brisket in the Triangle, and consistently produces a great product. The bbq is solid, and the brisket birria tacos are absolutely next level. You'll pay a bit more for a high quality product, but it's worth the extra in my opinion. Be aware that the seating is all outdoor, but the staff is incredibly friendly and totally makes it worth the trip. Can't say enough good stuff about this place! read more

So this place is overpriced for what you get. The food all came out cold. I ordered a chicken sandwich "the natural" but you would have thought I ordered the "the breader" as it was all breader instead of chicken. the mark of good barbecue is when it doesn't need sauce. this is good barbecue. the sauce is a great addition, but again, doesn't need it. try everything, but a 1/2 lb. of pork and a side of voodoo mac n cheese is the best way for a newcomer to enjoy this spot. even though it's brand-new, it challenges any other spot in the area for best barbecue in the triangle. read more
