I have been here a couple of times, and it seems like it is going downhill. The first time it was good, and the second time it was so-so. Also the menu items have changed over the time, and not sure if it is for better, or worse. One thing I will say that has gone downhill is the service. Even when the place is nearly empty, the staff will sit there in a group and watch while you need assistance. This was easily one of the worst burgers I've ever had, probably top three. It tasted exactly like those middle school lunch patties. The bun was massive and the burger itself was tiny which made it even worse. I was starving too and usually when you're that hungry everything tastes good, but this was just bad. No seasoning, no flavor at all. The service didn't help either. We had to ask to even order because the servers were just sitting on their computer. We like to take day trips around NC/SC and today was Raleigh. We liked the reviews and menu items at Burger Village. We arrived a little after opening and we liked the appearance and atmosphere of the establishment. We were greeted as we entered and asked for a table. The server provided us with waters. One things we noticed initially was organic ingredients. Grass fed and finished meat and organic bread. We ordered the beef burger and elk burger with fries and tots. After a short wait our food arrived and we were impressed at first sight. The presentation, smell, and taste were on par for a great burger! Food, service, atmosphere, and price were all good. It's a typical burger place but it was Valentine's Day so they were playing some slow instrumental songs that kind of ruined the ambiance of the dinner since that's not what I'm going to a burger place for regardless of the occasion. To start, I got the chocolate milkshake which was very creamy and tasty. We also got the breaded zucchini with their signature sauce and ranch and everything (even the ranch) so amazing and tasty! I ordered the black bean burger with the deer pairing and subbed the tomato for sautéed onions and it was a great burger - I have no complaints about it. For the side, we got the frings and it was okay - the onion rings were average and the french fries were tasty but soggy. For our service, it was a bit disappointing. I'm all for game meat burgers, so I knew this was a place I was going to try. I took a seat alone at the bar on a late Sunday afternoon. The bartender was a decent guy and pretty engaging. I ordered the orange bourbon smash, but they were out of Maker's Mark so he made it instead with Woodford. Also I had to remind him about the fresh mint in the cocktail. Pretty decent but it really would have been better with the Maker's. I got the Elk burger, medium rare, but unfortunately it was barely even rare on the inside. Disappointing. I did like the toppings with the make a mess option: cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and their sauce. Frings (half fresh cut fries and onions rings) were excellent and for $8, it was a large portion, I actually had to take the fries home. Their chipotle ketchup and honey mustard are excellent dipping sauces as well. I would consider going back, but I don't think I would get the elk. read more

I loved the $15 lunch special. The house made veggie burger was one of the best I've ever had. I added vegan cheese and switched the bun for a multigrain bun. The fries were perfectly crunchy and delicious. I would appreciate if the vegan cheese was included in the list of complimentary cheeses on the lunch special. Burger Village in downtown Raleigh off Glenwood is a great spot if you're looking for clean, organic, grass-fed food. The burgers are delicious and the staff is friendly without being overbearing. My reason for giving four stars is that the atmosphere isn't very inviting--the seats aren't very comfortable, and the outside patio always smells like dog pee and never feels very clean. read more

We had high hopes for our lunch at Burger Village but were definitely disappointed with our meal. It's tough that the restaurant boasts sustainable, organic, fresh ingredients but it isn't reflected in the food. We were given great service and the fried pickles we started with were hot, crispy and really tasty but the positives ended there. The salmon burger had to be sent back as it was very pale and chewy and while we were told it was freshly prepared, I can almost guarantee the perfectly circular rubbery disk had seen the inside of the freezer. Thankfully our server removed it from our bill but if that is the standard it should be removed from the menu entirely. I ordered the beef burger and while the patty was nicely seasoned it was pretty dry and cooked medium well when I requested medium rare. The seasoned fries came out lukewarm and floppy like they were cooked earlier in the lunch service and the cajun seasoning was bit overwhelming. A delicious french fry is supposed to be hard to stop eating but I ate two and had no desire to have anymore!! I don't leave yelp reviews, in fact, this is my first one but I felt inclined to write one prior to eating. I fast Mondays and really look forward to my first meal on Tuesdays and my dream of a big juicy burger and hot fries I had last night did not come true today. We made the drive 30 minutes from North Raleigh and paid $4 for parking and I can say quite confidently we won't be doing it again anytime soon. read more

It was the village lamb burger with the pyramids toppings and a tall beer for me, the village bison burger topped with the california mystery toppings for my husband and we split a side of fries. They have a good variety of traditional, exotic and plant based options that you can top with one of their signature pair toppings. It was good but is way too expensive for what it was. Second visit was much better than the first. I ordered the salmon burger, I will admit for salmon it had a pretty fishy flavor (I know it's a fish but I eat salmon almost constantly and it's not usually that fishy), however I got the toppings recommended for the salmon burger and it was pretty delicious. The flavors were there and complimented the burger well! My sister ordered the elf burger cooked medium rare with the "oh deer" toppings, she said her burger was fantastic. Cooked perfectly and the topping complimented the meat well. My boyfriend got the bison burger with the "jalo pkwy" toppings. He said his burger was cooked perfectly with the toppings matching up with the meat well. I still recommend bringing your own seasoning lol, atleast some salt and pepper because the meats are not seasoned. The restaurant is very clean and well laid out to give you plenty of space. They're the best onion rings I've had so far. The breading melts in your mouth. The onions are not overcooked or undercooked just the right to compliment the fried breading on it. read more
