We had a pleasant Saturday afternoon lunch at this relatively new North Hills spot. (across from Chuy's). It was off-hours (around 2:45) so we had no problem getting seated at a booth. The booth was interesting in that you can't sit directly across from the other person without feet connecting. I noticed others were sitting at a slight angle in booths also. Not a problem if there are just two of you. They brought us a brunch menu and had I not already had eggs for breakfast I would have definitely tried something brunchy cause there were some great sounding choices. We both went for sandwiches instead. Blackened Salmon for me and Grilled Chicken wrap for him. Both with fruit instead of fries. (look how good we were being LOL). For drinks I had a $10 glass of a Spanish Rose and he had a pour of Buffalo Trace neat ($13). Food didn't take too long. He loved his wrap, saying the chicken had a nice grilled flavor. Loved the bread with my salmon, which was a good thing, cause I tasted more of that than the salmon. It could have used some actual blackening with some good blackening spices and the salmon itself was pretty small for the bread. I should have taken them up on the hot sauce offer that I had before I knew I needed it. The fresh fruit was a nice combo of blueberries, strawberries, pineapple and grapes. Didn't take a picture of the food because we DEVOUREDDDD it!!! The food was 10/10, my boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday and got a Smoked Salmon Benedict, Steak and Eggs, and Loaded French Toast. Was incredibly yummy!! For drinks we ordered a Lucy and Tail Wagger which were also really good! The place was also really cute, really good music and the atmosphere and look of it all was sooo nice!! Definitely not a food critic, normally never leave reviews and we're not from Raleigh, just visiting but, if we ever come back, would definitely come back to the restaurant! read more

We were staying at The Hyatt Place across the path from Barking Dog and decided to have my brunch there upon checkout on a dreary Saturday morning. We were seated right away. Barking Dog is super cute. There's indoor seating (tables & booths) and covered outdoor seating with several tables. We ordered our food and it came out pretty quickly. I had the Brioche French Toast with an added side of bacon. The French Toast was perfect to me, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The flavor was perfect. The French Toast comes with a little tiny container of berries & grapes on the side. The bacon was in between crisp and flabby, but good. The Salmon Sando was tasty, but there was little salmon actually on it. It comes with a side. The potatoes were good. The service was great. I'll definitely go back again. read more

I picked the Barking Dog to celebrate my Birthday with friends after a fun activity. Making the reservation for 10 online was easy and their system confirmed a few days as in advance. Upon arrival they were ready to seat and accommodate us. The place was bright and decorative but maximized the space with seating options. I was almost disappointed when we were told that they were only serving a late night menu, which meant only sandwiches, apps, and salads. But our server Jake said since it was my Birthday he would ask the chef to make an exception and they did! Thanks God because one of the deciding factors for me picking this place was the fact that they serve braised short-rib and I've been craving it for months! We ordered fries calamari and spinach dip for apps. They were both delicious and generously served. I got the short rib that was so tender and flavorful with the best mashed potatoes I've had in a long time. The asparagus were the skinniest ever, but otherwise were typical. The mean was worth EVERY penny! My frienfs got a variety of things. The veggie burger, chicken wrap, Salmon Sando, Shrimp Salad. The sweet potato fries were a stand out item. Crazy sweet, sweet potatoes!! Delicious fries! Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. I also ordered a Sangria that was too sweet, but all the other drinks were a hit. My friend's were able to work with the restaurant and coordinated a cake drop off earlier in the day and they all surprised me with it after dinner. My husband ordered the cod sandwich and fries. The brioche bread was soft and toasted, the fish crispy, and the slaw was crispy and rich. The fries were cold. The service was kind and slow, the environment classy with a touch of dog decor. The drink menu had unique ingredients and all cocktails listed were $12. Barking Dog is cute spot in North Hills to grab brunch or dinner. A friend and I stopped in for dinner and had an enjoyable experience. We each ended up doing two rounds of drinks--she ordered the Dog Bubbles and the Eleanor, while I went with a beer and the Tail Wagger. I loved the names of the drinks. We came here for brunch and were seated immediately, and welcomed with specials and drinks. Maxx was our waiter and if he offers you to make a special iced coffee, let him do his thing. We had a salted caramel iced coffee and it was incredible. We split the Bird and Waffle and the Bull Dog Brunch Bowl. Incredible!! The pepper jelly jam was a nice twist on the waffles. We came here a few months ago and weren't SUPER impressed by the service. Came back today and honestly it was so much better, the food was good, a couple little mistakes but nothing that wasn't a quick fix. We sat out on the patio and the vibe was chill and relaxing, made friends with a few 4 legged friends too. We got a chorizo omelette, bull dog brunch burger and tres leches pancake, all of it was amazing, the coffee was good and our server kept the cups filled! We came in just as a bit of a rush started ( Saturday at 1030am) so it took a few minutes to get service but we were sat immediately. I don't remember our servers name but she had blue hair, she is literally the sweetest girl! she took such good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. The table next to us were incredibly impatient and rude to her, I'd love for her to know that she was doing an amazing job and that she has an amazing personality, we saw how hard she was working. Overall, we enjoyed our experience MUCH MORE this time and will definitely be stopping back in next time to try the southern croque madame and salmon Sando! read more

Some solid food at this place with plenty of options. I got the buttermilk crispy chicken sando and it came with coleslaw, pickles and bark sauce. It was a solid chicken sandwich nothing too crazy but it hit the spot. Also we got a burger that was very solid as well! Learning that this restaurant is a NYC expansion set my standards fairly high, and I'm happy to say that Barking Dog delivered. Great music, attentive staff, and a one page menu made for a great environment. The Rottweiler burger and fries I had was incredible. They were out of the lamb burger due to weather delaying deliveries so I asked if they could use the turkey burger--my substitution got a nod from the chef, apparently! They accommodated me with no issue and I very much enjoyed the meal. Fresh toppings and a juicy patty on a soft bun are all key for me and they nailed it. I highly recommend for a date night, catching up with friends, or a quick bite while enjoying North Hills! read more

This is great food with amazing service. It has become normal to have one or the other but this place has both. Plus they took great care of our puppy. Their dog bowls go through the wash after every use (that is rare). It's just a touch salty but I am team salt so it was fine. So far this is the best restaurant in North Hills because they accomplished the goal of great food with great service. You need to go here and take you puppy too. I got the breakfast special (eggs, biscuit, small ramekin of fruit, homefries, and turkey sausage. Food was luke warm and turkey sausage was way overcooked. First time here and the last. Took a while to get service .Ordered a turkey dog a turkey burger. It came with cheese which I didn't order. The waitress never checked back with me while I was eating. So they charged me $1.50 extra for the cheese which I didn't order. Burger was good but not great. Had to ask for the check and it was a different wait person that got the check. Is there a negative "half-star" rating? I ordered the fish & chips and it was absolutely disgusting. What fresh fish & chips comes in a perfectly shaped square/parallelogram sized portion? The "FROZEN" kind before it's fried. I felt bad for the server because she was nice and I would have tipped her more if the fish & chips weren't so nasty. This place may have other good menu items but their fish & chips is the worst I have ever seen or had. I'm pissed that I could have went to Long John Silvers and had better for $8. read more
