A little underwhelming considering the hype I heard from friends. Sausage bolognese was solid but not super special, our food came out like way too quick and didn't feel very fresh. Server was very nice though! Just wouldn't consider it an especially fulfilling meal. Good portions, however, for what it's worth. read more

went to the Newtown Square location last night. The only good thing I can say is the food order was actually correct which is impressive considering the waiter we had. As soon as we sat down, we informed the waiter we were getting separate checks. He did not remember and when he went to "fix" and separate the bill, he put the wrong items together. He never came back to check on us once the food was delivered. He never removed empty plates, menus, extra glasses etc. We had to flag other staff down to get refills, have empty plates removed, condiments etc. Additionally, the restaurant itself was sooo dark, we had to use the flash lights on our cellphones to read the menus and the bill. My husband went to the restroom and said it was so dark in there as well. Finally, the food was delivered at random. Hot pasta dishes were delivered before cold salad appetizers. One person sat for 10 minutes with no food as everyone else was eating. Needless to say, we will not return. read more

Convenience to Independence Hall is the only good thing about this place. Food arrives when ready, so people don't actually get to eat together. Alicias Sunday dinner is smothered in ricotta cheese to the point of ridiculousness. Meatballs taste like cardboard. Gnocchi was overwhelmed with sauce and boring as all get out. Portions are so huge it is impossible to finish half, even if the stuff tasted any good, so lots of food is wasted. Save your money, don't eat here. read more

I had the worst experience at Lascala's on chestnut street . I was on the verge of walking out without paying or writing F@@k You on the check . I would give the service a zero if I could at the chestnut street location . The Hostess Brianna was rude. She didn't put my wine order in . She was bartending and trying to be a hostess . I waited 30 minutes for my vegetarian pizza . When it finally came it was not cooked . The sauce was runny and the crust tasted like it wasn't cooked . She said she would take a discount off our bill . We asked for two more glasses of wine . She gives us the bill they didn't charge us for the pizza . But didn't take off a discount . I asked for a manager . Jim comes over with a nasty attitude saying he didn't charge us for the two wines. No apology . The service was the absolute worst . Come here if you want to deal with an attitude and rudeness. Never again read more

Excellent food - amazing staff. We made a reservation but they only had outdoor seating. But they were so nice in accommodating us earlier. The hostess went out of her way to help us find a table inside instead of outside. I want to go back! read more

Usually great food and service. Was there this week and took a colleague to lunch and for an appetizer, a salad, a pasta, and two iced teas, my final bill was $80.00! It'd be nice if they came up with some lunchtime prices so don't expect the get out of there without sticker shock. The food is wonderful with generous portions. The service can be very good but inconsistent. For instance, on this visit I had to track down my waiter twice. Lastly, they add a 3.5% surcharge for paying by credit card. This surcharge isn't listed anywhere on their website nor is it in the menu when you enteri the restaurant, it is merely communicated via a piece of paper on the door when you walk in, so if you're having a conversation with someone else while you're walking in and totally missed this piece of paper, you're taken by surprise when you receive the bill. read more

Had high hopes for this place to celebrate the promotion for my kid based on previous reviews. The waitress forgot to put in the appetizer. Then when our food came, she brought 2 of the 4 meals. We thought the others were right behind them, but it was about 15 minutes later and after the hubby got up to ask about the other 2 meals did they finally show up. I can understand if the kitchen was backed up, but nothing was communicated to us.The mac and cheese was delicious but everything else was just average. The service was subpar. I would recommend going somewhere else or order takeout. read more

We all loved our meals. The ravioli and the hot Italian pizza were both hits. The kids liked their meals as well. Highly recommend.

This place was wonderful! My 5 girlfriends and I went here for dinner and it was so good. Vito was our favorite, he was extremely accommodating and friendly. People like him make a place like this so much better. Thank you! read more

Great food and service. We very much enjoyed our sizable portions enough to take home and have for lunch the next day and found the service to be timely and attentive throughout the dining experience. Would definitely return! read more

Before the pandemic 3 years ago if you went to (LaScala) previous restaurant name they had more variety on their menu from crab cake sandwiches, shrimp etc. And when you paid for your meal you got the exact change that was due back to you. And now my friend and I had lunch there today the bill was $38.88 cents steak made in an egg roll . I gave the waitress $40.00 dollars which means the change would have been $1.12 cents. Her rude answer was We do not give out change. So she gave me 2 dollars, back in charge. For every customer that you don't give the customer the right amount of change back you are cheating the customers of their correct change back. The Philadelphia Fish Company Restaurant that was located at 200 Chestnut St. In Philadelphia did the same thing ripping customers off of their correct amount of change and Eventually they closed down for good. read more

We ordered from caviar and it was a terrible. We have ordered here a several times in 2021. The food was a ok. Tonight was awful. The crispy artichoke was canned artichoke hearts, fried , very mushy, with way too many sundried tomatoes. The honey/lemon vinaigrette was too sweet. The LaScala chopped salad was a minced salad. $16.50 for a few cups of lettuce, dressing and a few toppings that were minced! There was shredded mozzarella ,minced tomatoes and minced ham. I have never seen toppings cut so small. That is what they consider "italian meats" Also, No pepperoncini ,onions, no provolone. I am posting a picture. The chicken parm dinner was inedible. The chicken was dry and rubbery. The pasta was undercooked. There was barely any sauce. The truffled mac and cheese was dry. Minuscule pieces of prosciutto. This was an expensive dinner that ended up in the garbage. read more

We visited La Scala Fire in Upper Dublin for my son's graduation. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived for our 4:15 reservation. We waited a long time to put in our drink order and then my drink took an additional 20 mins to arrive because they could find prosecco. My son ordered a sprite and it tasted like seltzer. Sent it back twice and we were still charged. my youngest had a kids meal that came out over 15 mins after everyone else's . We had to ask for bread and received 4 pieces for 6 people. We had to ask for graTed cheese and it was not fresh. We also asked for fresh ground pepper and they gave us a pepper shaker. As we were finishing the meal, the bus boys came to our table at least 4 times to take our plates that we were clearly still working on. The last bus boy came w his food service bin and placed it on the table next to me to take remaining plates. I found this to be gross. I've been waiting to come here for over a year and I was really disappointed in the service and lack of experience and professionalism. For the prices that are changed I expected more. I gather that there was not enough training and it seemed as though all of the staff was really young and inexperienced. read more

Terrible. Cheese is globby and thick, hard to swallow, penne vodka tasted like trash. Don't eat here, also they play exclusively terrible mid 2000s hits like tonights gonna be a good night by the black eyed peas, Seriously worse than airport pizza. Bathrooms also not labeled correctly read more

amazing food, love to eat there. The service is impeccable, and the ambiance of the whole place is awesome!

This is what $16.80 buys you. No, that didn't include the delivery fee, tax, service charge or tip. Just the cost of the Margherita pizza. I was shocked when I saw the 12" box. There's no mention of its small size on the website. Not even sure if it's actually Buffalo mozzarella. Either way, it wasn't worth the money. Can't speak for their entrees. But they've lost my trust, and business. read more

Delicious food. The Bolognaise was awesome. My wife loved the Chicken Parm. Waiter was friendly. Good drinks too.

This is a great spot for pasta, they have heart entrees with fantastic ingredients and flavor that you'll be thinking about having again for weeks after. I can personally say the service is excellent as well, as I made a mistake when ordering for a pasta dish for a vegetarian which contained meat. Despite the fact that this was my error, the staff still took the very kind step to refund my order in full. Absolutely recommend you check them out if you haven't yet, and if you have you already know. read more

Picked up a pizza, gnocchi, and a salad today. Pizza was definitely not what I expected. tasteless and nothing special (I think I'm spoiled by NYC pizza). The gnocchi was terribly salty and swimming in sauce. I ate it because I was hungry. The salad was a nice size and well. . . you can't really mess up salad. Certainly not worth the $50 I just paid. read more

Excellent service, good food, nice ambience. The server were very friendly and food came out in time.

Everyone was really nice but the food was just not good. The meatballs had almost no taste and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't meat but something like soy. It did not have the texture of beef meatballs, I was very surprised read more

Done here! We were a party of 6 early eve last night prior to a show. Server told us they have no control how the food comes out of the kitchen, so dinners weren't served together. After our last person was served, server never came back to check on us. We all wanted drink refills, had to get another server to find our server. He came back, took the drink order and it was 15 minutes before he came back with the drinks and the check we requested at the same time being we had to get to a show and the service was so slow. Paid the check and we're finishing our drinks, five minutes from leaving for our show and the maitre d' came to us and apologetically inquired when we were leaving because another party was waiting for the table! She said the manager sent her over! Had the service not been so slow, we wouldn't been out 15 minutes ago! They need to do something with their manager! So rude and insulting! Done there! We've eaten there several times prior over the years. read more

First bar of the night on New Year's Eve. I have to say coming to this place was easily the worst decision I've ever made in my life. We sat down a little after 3pm right next to the windows far left when you walk into the place. Had some elderly waitress as our server. Everything came out correctly but the server was just insanely rude. Asking me after my 2nd drink of the entire night if I was alright in a way basically asking if I'm hammered. It takes like 15 drinks for me to start behaving drunk. After our 3rd drink she comes over with the check that we didn't ask for so she's basically implying we're cut off. On top of that she takes away our unfinished rigatoni a la vodka. I work in the industry and have never ever treated a table like this. This woman is evil to have done such a thing on New Year's Eve. My girlfriend was a returning customer. She said this place was great and came the night before her Philly marathon. Place looked awesome and was stoked to go in. Just right from the start this waitress had a chip on her shoulder and it got worse and worse as the time here went on. We were there for under an hour so I don't even understand how she could have interpreted us as being 'drunk' especially being she only served us 3 beverages and when she dropped the check we hadn't even had started our 3rd round. I don't think a 10 year old could get lit off two drinks. This lady must have never had a beverage in her entire life. If you get some old fk lady as your server at this place just ask to switch sections. The other waitresses looked like they were having a good time. read more

I rarely leave reviews, however, this cannot go without words. The description for this restaurant says "good for groups." However, my experience proves that LaScala's Fire staff is not equipped or trained to handle large parties. I was with a group of 10 to celebrate a special occasion over dinner. A few party members arrived early to setup and decorate our table for our event which was a pleasant surprise. Our waitress (Gianna) seemed overwhelmed taking our orders and was observed giving slight attitude and complaining about our "large" group to other staff. Gianna took our drink orders... the mocktails and soft drinks came out first, the mocktails were not good. Next were the rounds of margaritas that tasted like straight sour mix. We were also greeted by extra drinks that were not ordered so it was clear the order was not placed properly. Our overall meal lasted about 3 hours... The bar options were highly limited and many in our group ordered replacement drinks. The water served was also not good and tasted like warm tap water. Next the appetizers came out. Fries, wings, brussels, a pizza, and salad. The appetizers were in large portions and seemed to be enjoyed. Also, an extra plate of wings was also brought to the table that wasn't ordered. Dinner. The food was not good and lacked flavor, not even a hint of garlic was noted. There were guests in our group that received their meal in pieces as if they were at a wine tasting and was only able to sample each item of their meal at a time. After spending more time than expected for what was supposed to be an early dinner. We asked the staff to take a picture of our group in honor of our occasion. They were less than pleased and put no effort into helping us have one photo. News will be spread of this lackluster experience and after spending hours and nearly $1000.00 for dinner at a restaurant that is "good for groups" we will never dine here again. This is an overrated pizza shop. read more

Just terrible. Waste of calories! Don't even consider going here. I had the grilled salmon and oh my god what a fishy not fresh taste! Never again will I support this business. It pains me to write this bc I am a fan of Alicia and her family but came here from out of town last night excited to support them and it was just not good. The long hots are probably the best thing on the menu. I got Alicia's meatball salad. The meatball had such a strange texture. Did not taste like beef at all and had no flavor. My boyfriend got a vodka sauce dish that did NOT taste like vodka sauce. Probably would have been better going to Olive Garden. I was super disappointed bc we have been here a few times before and never remember it being that way. read more

The reviews are all over the place for this restaurant, which is quite unusual in the Yelp world. Decided to give it a shot, as we were very hungry from flying from out of state. The place is clean and airy, although very few patrons when we dined here. The service was super polite, friendly, and quick, so no complaints there. The food was actually pretty darn tasty; the chop salad we had to wait I'll Samick vinaigrette was basically a chopped antipasto salad, and all the ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful. The pizza we had, well not served as hot as I would like, seem to have salad ingredients and the crust was thin and perfectly cooked. I took off a star because I saw somebody from the kitchen go to the bathroom, and did not wash his hands properly. He did not use soap, and he rinsed it for about five seconds. To be honest, that grossed me out. The food is definitely well made and actually tasty. However, management needs to remind its workers -- especially during a pandemic -- to wash their hands thoroughly. read more
