We were able to get a last-minute reservation on a Saturday night, and I'm so happy we did! We've been here a couple of times. I actually celebrated my birthday here last year and this place is always a hit, never a miss! We started with the cucumber and tomato salad and the country bread, and what a delicious combination! We also ordered a side of olive oil, and they seriously have some of the best olive oil I've had in a while. I definitely recommend getting some on the side to dip your country bread in. Trust me! We paired everything with a pitcher of sangria, which gives you about four drinks and was much more economical than ordering individual cocktails. I finally tried the chicken Parmesan, and boy, am I kicking myself for not trying it sooner! The chicken breast was thick, juicy, moist, and perfectly crunchy. Some places make their chicken Parm so thin that it barely feels like you're eating chicken, but this was an actual substantial piece of chicken with the perfect bite. Our waitress told me I could swap out the pasta and sauce that normally come with the chicken Parmesan, so of course I did! I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce, and it was DELIGHTFUL. The portion was massive, so I took leftovers home and yes, I absolutely ate them the very next day! My fiancé got the branzino and wanted something lighter so he could help me with the rigatoni. His plate was beautifully presented, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and it was exactly what he wanted. Overall, we had another wonderful experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back! A special shoutout to our waitress, who was absolutely delightful and told me I could change the pasta and sauce with my chicken Parmesan. You changed my life! You have no idea how happy you made me. I wish I had gotten your name, but truly, everyone there is always so lovely. Thank you for another amazing experience!
Little Nonna's always has a low light, casual vibe which is great for a date night. Our server was pleasant and checked on us tho I think the GM (?) was a bit frazzled. We might have come right after a dinner rush which would explain the curtness. Started with the summer tomato and cucumber, loved how big the cuts were. A good light appetizer before filling up on carbs. I got the Shrimp Scampi Linguine. While it was delicious, it did feel like it was swimming in butter and became a bit heavy/overwhelming. The Rigatoni alla Vodka looked heavy but was, actually, pretty balanced. We werent expecting a full sausage but it was nicely cooked without drying it out! I wish I wasn't so full because the tiramasu looked aoncute (theyre served in cups) but that will be for next time!
Went for a work dinner with my colleagues and had such a good experience here!! We got the arancini, the garlic bread, and the shrimp and lobster pastas and all were perfect. The arancini was so decadent and the garlic bread came with a head of garlic confit - both were perfectly appetizers. We also got the shrimp pasta and lobster pasta and both were delicious! The lobster pasta was very filling, so I recommend the shrimp pasta if you want something on the lighter side. The service was good, but there was a wait both times we strolled by (Sunday and Tuesday), so would recommend making a res. The only caveat is that I would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 people, the restaurant is very small and rustic and can't fit a larger party. It was fine for us as we were able to push some outside tables together (and it was a beautiful evening), but I do wish we could have sat inside.
Little Nonnas is a cute little spot. I love the little back patio that feels like you are sitting on your grandmas back porch. The meatballs are excellent. The gnocchi are yummy and melt in your mouth. Surprisingly where this meal failed me was the pasta. I had the lobster pasta dish and there were only 2 small bite size pieces of lobster and the pasta and sauce lacked flavor. Service was fine. I am not sure I have a reason to return though... there are too many authentic small ma and pa Italian restaurants with really yummy pasta in this city!
The food was really good and well worth the money. Just wish they had a larger menu but I would definitely go there again.
Great Italian dinner option for anyone. Definitely get the Caesar salad. All the pastas are good. The meatballs are a little heavy on some of the seasoning - fennel I believe. The seafood dish was good but too heavy capers for my taste. We've ordered the vodka penne pasta many times and hits each time. Cute interior. Try to snag a reservation. This restaurant group is all around pretty good. I'm sure you'll have a good experience here.
Ambiance was pleasant, the service was good, the food was good but I feel like anyone with any cooking experience at all could duplicate it with very little effort.. typical restaurant food over salted, more cheese/fat than needed. Overall, it was good but it's a flavor I could only eat once every two months. One more good point, Compared to other places we've eaten the value is very good at this place.
Had such a fabulous dinner at Little Nonna's last night. I think it might be my new favorite Italian spot in Philly! The service was great and food came out piping hot, for which they get instant brownie points in my book. Let's get into the food: Garlic bread: 10/10 the roasted garlic is so simple to do, but makes takes a regular garlic bread to a new level. Olives: 7/10 nothing revolutionary, but tasty! Eggplant parm: 15/10 SOOO good! I loved the burrata and pesto mixed in with it. Caesar salad 12/10: the croutons were such a pleasant surprise. I believe they are made from polenta and they were soft and delicious! Branzino: my mom ordered this and rates it a 10/10! I got a small bite and it was superb. Sunday gravy: 11/10 I mean the amount of food you get for the price is insane! Meatballs were to die for. Rigantoni allá vodka: 100000/10 just stellar! Tastes like the one I make at home, just ten times better I can't wait to return!
Overall it was a pleasant experience, the food was tasty and the value was pretty good for the amount you got. The service was excellent food came out fast and it was paced perfectly. The drinks were a little rough but the price was very reasonable. (The Sunday gravy is definitely worth it)

Take your breath away surprise to see the whole garlic bulb, roasted and soft, ready to spread on perfectly toasted bread rolls. Already you're happy you're there. We had chicken Parmesan and the vodka sauce alla rigatoni with sausage. Pasta made fresh daily, and that seemed obvious, it was tender and just the right chewy. Both sauces were smooth and rich, full of flavor. The sausage was tasty with fennel (?) And crispy prosciutto on top. We could not finish our mains but did not want to skip dessert. Tiramisu! Say yes! Mascarpone and espresso perfection. Make your reservation!! Buon appetito!!
Came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and left feeling underwhelmed. The food was fine but nothing memorable. I did enjoy the highly acclaimed garlic bread, though the clams casino was just okay, my boyfriend said he liked it but didn't even take his leftovers. My Sunday gravy had a more home-cooked, authentic taste than most Italian restaurants I've been to, and the portions were huge. The cannolis were actually great, and that's coming from someone who usually doesn't like them. The biggest disappointment was the seating. We were placed outside in the back, right next to what was essentially a server entrance covered by a large shower curtain. Staff walked by just a couple feet from our table the entire meal, which really took away from the experience.
We were staying at a nearby hotel and we were looking for a really good pasta. We came in last minute. They didn't have any open tables, but luckily she was able to get a seated within five minutes. This is hands-down, the best dish we had in Philly. The pasta was so amazing so flavorful and so rich. We ordered the shrimp shrimp and the short rib pasta, both of them were bursting with flavor. This is not a large restaurant. It's very small, but it still has a beautiful interior. Service was excellent. I wish they had one near us.. we talked about this place throughout our trip to come back a second time. read more
Little Nonna's popped up on Yelp when I was planning my Philly trip, and I knew I had to go! When I checked OpenTable to make a reservation, there was no availability. We came about 10-15 minutes after their 5pm opening, and were able to get seated as walk-ins. It appears to be a small space, but there's actually a little back patio with additional seating. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Linguine ($25) and my friend enjoyed the Braised Short Rib Lumache ($25). Food was brought out quickly. I did find the shrimp scampi to be salty, but I guess that's from the capers. The rock shrimp was cut into small pieces, so it was hard to gauge the amount of shrimp that I was given, but it wasn't an overwhelming amount. The shrimp was cooked nicely (not overcooked) and I enjoyed the lemony garlic butter sauce. Having snacked at Reading Terminal Market right before, I wasn't too hungry. I would come back when I have a bigger appetite to try the Mushroom Arancini. Their menu also appears to be seasonal. We visited in September and they were already offering more fall dishes featuring butternut squash (which was different from what was posted on their website). Service was pleasant. Incredible! Intimate restaurant with delicious food, friendly service, and big portions! Our waitress Jenna was amazing, she helped us decide what to order, how much would be enough, and was so knowledgeable on the wines. She could be a sommelier! The food was so good- sunday gravy tasted better than my grandma's and enough for 2 people to split. Was tough to get a reservation, but can do it a month in advance. Just a neighborhood gem for really good food, reasonably priced in a great atmosphere. We sat in the all season courtyard. Jenna was our server and does a great job. Rigatoni and gnocchi is good. Salty and ample but good. The buratta appetizer is good, clunky to eat with pitted olives in the bowl but tasty. read more

Amazing time for a dinner with friends. Even on a cold night, their covered patio is nice and toasty. I am so glad I listened to the reviews and got the Sunday Gravy, it was so much quality food and an economical option that gave a lot of variety. My friend got the vodka sauce pasta and that was another tank favorite. The garlic bread was good, I a big bread person though, so I think that one order is good for 2 people-maybe 4 if you want a smaller portion of it. Our service was fast, our reservation got moved up to a more manageable time. It was great overall. read more

This place...what a gem! The food was absolutely delicious and feels like it is straight out of your Italian mom's kitchen. When you walk in, you assume it's a tiny little Italian restaurant but there is additional seating through a covered alley and covered outdoor space. Despite is being super hot outside, it was still very cool given the fans etc. Our server was attentive and all our needs were met and we left with very happy bellies read more

Cozy little place with a candlelit table and dimmed lights. Rustic really well done Italian food. My group of 4 ordered 3 apps: olives and spread with bread, prosciutto summer salad, and meatballs. The prosciutto was really high quality and salad was fresh and crisp. Do yourself a favor and get the meatball. It was AMAZING. Probably the best meatball I've ever had. The entrees were equally as good. Marinara sauce on the Sunday gravy was great. Sweet, meaty, hearty. Gnocchi was also delicious. Very buttery! Quaint restaurant with a cozy ambiance. I came here for dinner with friends and we loved the menu options. The drinks were good and service was excellent. However, we were seated outside and did spot a mouse running in and out of the seating area, which wasn't very pleasant. I would have really loved this place if it weren't for that. Little Nonnas is always a wonderful experience with the best staff. They have an outside area that is covered with heaters to seat additional parties. They have a fairly small menu but something for everyone. Many of the pasta dishes that include meat can also be made vegetarian which was a huge bonus! Everything was delicious from the apps, to entrees, to the yummy desserts! Worth a try for some delicious food! read more
This is extremely mediocre Italian food served in extremely large portions. Nothing was terrible. Nothing blew us away. Everything had very muted flavors except for salt. As many of the reviews note, the food here is very, very salty. Pasta with Sunday sauce was a disappointment. Very little depth of flavor. An Italian lemonade was a ripoff. I drank a whole carafe. It was 90% ice and I could not taste the alcohol at all. I certainly didn't feel it. Service was adequate. The restaurant is quite crowded but lively on a Sunday night. I wouldn't go back. read more

We came here at 8:25 because resevations go veryy fast! We got garlic bread, the squid ink pasta, gnocci, and the rigatoni. They were all wonderful but my favorite was the gnocci! Itwas very light and each dish went about 23-25 dollars but you get a good portion. Food came out quick and the table was lit wih candles. Overall I would totally come again. read more
WOW! This place is so cozy and cute and I am absolutely stuffed! We got 2 dishes and the garlic bread and they did not disappoint. Each bite was filled with flavor, from the sauces to the meats.
