    Tiramisu

My bf and I had dinner here for Valentine's Day and had an okay experience. The restaurant is very big inside with plenty of seating and bar seating. It was a very cute spot. We had 3-4 waiter/waitresses so it was a bit confusing. We had one person introduce himself and pour us water, another person introduce himself and took our drink order and brought it to the table, another person take our food order, and a different lady who handled desserts. We ordered the grilled octopus, tomato basil fettuccini, baramundi and tiramisu. The grilled octopus and baramundi were both excellent. I wouldn't change a single thing and would highly recommend ordering it. Very flavorful, tender and delicious! There were only 2 fettuccini dishes on the vday menu and my bf ordered the one that was packed with seafood. He received the vegetarian pasta. We eventually got the attention of one of our many waiters and he apologized for giving us the wrong dish. He offered to get the right one, but mentioned it would take some time because the restaurant was getting busy. We decided to just stick with it. Delicious pasta but went from seafood filled pasta to straight vegetarian. Dessert came and we ordered the tiramisu which was just okay. We did not receive a small discount for the pasta confusion or anything, but overall the food was all good. Out of everything, I would recommend the octopus and my delicious baramundi!

I expected better, based on reviews I'd seen. Nothing stood out as a reason to go back again. I had the fish special of barramundi over spinach. Nothing was seasoned. I expected the spinach to have some garlic in it. Nothing was salted and nothing had any seasoning. Nothing special about anything at all. The bread was terrible, very dry and my sister asked if it was fresh. Service was terrible. Every single time we had to flag down our waiter, Gesti. We got more service flagging down other servers. My sister had a veal chop, that was OK, but when I asked if she would order it again, she said no. No one even offered if we wanted dessert, and by that point we were getting antsy to get our check to leave for the theater. All in all, it was close to the Walnut Street Theatre, so that was a plus. But that's a one and done for me on this restaurant.

Arrived in Philly last night and craved good Italian food. Our hotel recommended this restaurant, and after reading a few reviews, I was apprehensive. I am glad that my husband and I gave this place a shot. It may not be terribly fancy, like some comments I read, but the food is what matters. We both ate the Penne Bella for dinner, and the red cream sauce was delightful. Prior to the meal, they served brucheta, which was nice. For desert, we enjoyed their lemon chello cake, very yummy. I am a picky Italian food eater, and this place was a nice surprise and hit my hungry for Italian spot.

Buca has a very nice design on the inside and feels very romantic. We came here for restaurant week for lunch and left a bit disappointed. The lunch menu was just salads and soup with a selection of one entree out of a list of three. I really wish they had mixed it up a bit more and given us more variety, especially considering that many of the entrees were less than $20. The soup and the main entree had a reheated sort of taste. As if they reheated frozen food and threw some sauce on it to spice it up. The service was quite inattentive and brought us no water until we asked after being seated for almost 10 minutes. I would not come back to be quite honest. I am not a picky eater, but I found myself not really wanting to continue eating my meal, or even try my friends

Fresh food cooked perfectly! We walked right in on a Friday evening, and were well taken care of.

Have you ever been to a restaurant before and momentarily forget what city you're in? Well that's what happened to me multiple times eating at Buca D'Oro - I felt like I was eating at an Italian restaurant in Italy. The ambiance really makes you feel like you're not in Philly and it felt great. I came here for 1 during restaurant week and was truly able to just take in the wonderful experience of eating here. Before I even got my 1st course, I was given bruschetta which was refreshing and bread with olive oil that was good. Then every single thing I ordered tasted just so authentically Italian - Burrata, Salmone Alla Fagiolini, and the Chocolate Mousse Cake. There was a lot of food, but it didn't leave me disgustingly full either! I also ordered the Manhattan, the speciality cocktail on their restaurant week menu which was good as well. This may be my new favorite restaurant in Philly. I look forward to coming back in the near future!

Really cool spot off Washington Square. Tucked away to the side, you walk down steps to get in and are greeted by beautiful murals and a surprisingly large space. The service was good and food was better - we had an appetizer and two pasta dishes and really enjoyed everything. Really recommend the squid ink pasta special!!

I actually celebrated my birthday here last year and this place is always a hit, never a miss! We started with the cucumber and tomato salad and the country bread, and what a delicious combination! We also ordered a side of olive oil, and they seriously have some of the best olive oil I've had in a while. I definitely recommend getting some on the side to dip your country bread in. Trust me! We paired everything with a pitcher of sangria, which gives you about four drinks and was much more economical than ordering individual cocktails. I finally tried the chicken Parmesan, and boy, am I kicking myself for not trying it sooner! The chicken breast was thick, juicy, moist, and perfectly crunchy. Some places make their chicken Parm so thin that it barely feels like you're eating chicken, but this was an actual substantial piece of chicken with the perfect bite. Our waitress told me I could swap out the pasta and sauce that normally come with the chicken Parmesan, so of course I did! I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce, and it was DELIGHTFUL. The portion was massive, so I took leftovers home and yes, I absolutely ate them the very next day! My fiancé got the branzino and wanted something lighter so he could help me with the rigatoni. His plate was beautifully presented, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and it was exactly what he wanted. Overall, we had another wonderful experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back! A special shoutout to our waitress, who was absolutely delightful and told me I could change the pasta and sauce with my chicken Parmesan. You changed my life! You have no idea how happy you made me. I wish I had gotten your name, but truly, everyone there is always so lovely. Thank you for another amazing experience!

The arancini was so decadent and the garlic bread came with a head of garlic confit - both were perfectly appetizers. We also got the shrimp pasta and lobster pasta and both were delicious! The lobster pasta was very filling, so I recommend the shrimp pasta if you want something on the lighter side. The service was good, but there was a wait both times we strolled by (Sunday and Tuesday), so would recommend making a res. The only caveat is that I would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 people, the restaurant is very small and rustic and can't fit a larger party. It was fine for us as we were able to push some outside tables together (and it was a beautiful evening), but I do wish we could have sat inside.

The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Even the grilled bread used for the bruschetta tasted fresh. Arancini with pork and veal ragu peas was great; the peas added a new texture to the traditional arancini. We also got fried artichokes as an appetizer. It was crispy and salty -- I could munch on that alone. For the entree, I got the veal braciole with tagliatelle and tomato sugo. The whole dish tasted homey, like what you would get at an Italian family's house. The veal braciocle was small, and I wished there was more protein and less pasta to be more balanced. For dessert, everyone raved about their gelato. Their pistachio flavor was clearly a favorite, as it had intense fresh pistachio flavor. It was also tan in color, as you would expect a pistachio nut to be, not the artificial green color added to other pistachio gelatos. I had the amaretto cherry flavor. It was good too, although I wished it had more cherries. A few people got their espresso, and really enjoyed it. They roast their own coffee on-site, so I am not surprised again how fresh it tasted. Tip: Pour a little of their fantastic coffee over your gelato to make your own fresh affogato. I came here with a large group and despite the tight space, we felt cozy. Service was spectacular. We had multiple food allergies in the group, and the waitstaff took each one very seriously, asking down to the detail if the allergy was by consumption or cross-contamination. Thank you to the staff for being so conscientious!

This was definitely not his first, not his second and not his third rodeo he's definitely a professional at what he does. Upon review of the menu we started off with steamed clams and a spicy marinara and actually asked for fra Diavlo hence they gave it an additional hit of spice. It had a nice kick. It was very tasty. My wife was going back-and-forth between their signature lasagna and a little weak weenie with crab Bianco and in the end she went with the baked lasagna oh my goodness the size of that piece on the plate we took half home. For me, I went with the veal Catherine, the medallions veal with shrimp, lump crab meat, and fresh tomato and a Bianco sauce the plating presentation I can't describe you'll just have to see my photograph. I've never seen it like this before and it was extremely tasty. Very tender I would certainly get that dish again. And since I am not a pasta eater, I ordered a side vegetable of broccoli Rob. And we ordered a bottle of the Italian Montepuliciano wine, what was the perfect compliment to our dinner? And this was my birthday. My wife was surprising me she had already pre-ordered their homemade tiramisu with ladyfingers, which would wind up taking with us cause we were kind of full and had later that night at one of our favorite coffee houses in Philly and boy that dessert was perfect and I'm glad we waited.
