Everything was very good. Very slow night and I thought food could have come out a little quicker but overall great dinner!

I ordered takeout. The ricotta/gargonzola gnocchi looked nothing like the photo I saw online. Texture was all off, almost tasted spoiled. So much sauce it was like soup.

Great gem in South Philly! While in the area and sort of lost looking for an early ish dinner for my family - we stumbled on this place. They were super accommodating with our walk in request on a Saturday night and within seconds, we had a seat, a seat for my 3 yr old, and a place for my infant and stroller. They even had a kids menu! Service was friendly and attentive. We got the fried calamari to start ($16) which was just the right amount of crisp. I had scallops in a cream sauce over fettuccini ($25) which was also very delicious. My husband got the chicken parm which was huge while my daughter got spaghetti and meatballs which was flavorful and a huge kids portion that could probably feed about 4 toddlers. All in all - a really great place to have a nice quality Italian meal in South Philly! Highly recommend.

I had much higher hopes for this place, but we were for the most part not enthusiastic about our meals. Service was decent, but we were only 1 of two tables in the place between lunch and dinner service. We started with the fried calamari and the antipasto, both of which were really disappointing. The antipasto had minimal ingredients (far less than the price would indicate). The calamari was so rubbery, so much so that we did not finish it. They did bring out some bruschetta for the table before the meal, which was very tasty. The chicken parm was good, and the gorgonzola cream sauce was tasty but was pretty dry (not enough for the amount of pasta). The meatballs had a funky flavor to them. Not sure what it was, but some kind of citrus flavor profile. In any event, there are far better options for Italian food in South Philly, so we'll go back to those in the future.

We had the restaurant all to ourselves.

Your shrimp Alla Vodka pasta was an absolute delight! Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with the succulent shrimp perfectly complementing the creamy, vodka-infused sauce. The pasta itself was cooked to perfection, achieving that ideal balance between tender and al dente. What truly sets this dish apart is the chef's mastery in creating a sauce that's rich, velvety, and bursting with flavor. The vodka adds a subtle yet distinctive kick, elevating the dish to a whole new level of sophistication. Every ingredient seemed to harmonize flawlessly, creating a culinary experience that I won't soon forget. Moreover, the portion size was generous, ensuring that each mouthful was a gratifying experience. The presentation was also impeccable, showcasing the vibrant colors and textures of the dish in an enticing manner. Overall, your shrimp Alla Vodka pasta surpassed all expectations, delivering a gastronomic journey that left me utterly satisfied. It's a testament to the culinary prowess of the restaurant and a dish I'll eagerly return for time and time again. Bravo to the chef for crafting such a masterpiece! And Teresa is such a sweetheart. The owner, she works hard even sent me home with a pint of her homemade balsamic ! It was to die for. Me and my wife had it drizzled in our appetizer of stuffed mushrooms topped with creamy sauce and lump crab!! This lady has to be from the old country To my SP Italiano familia sorry if I spelled "alla vodka wrong"

Came here on the StrEats of Philly food tour and so glad that they introduced us to this place. The spinach gnocchi with blush sauce is the best gnocchi I have ever had. I can't put it into words but you MUST order the gnocchi. This place is BYOB so our group enjoyed a few bottles of red wine we brought with us. This place will be a must for me anytime I'm in Philly.

This restaurant is owned by the chef who learned Italian cuisine from an Italian chef for 22 years . You can read more of the story in Inquirer online. Just Google Cucina Maria and you'll find the story. I have the privilege to talk to her husband, who was super nice and friendly. He brought out the food from the kitchen. Our waiter was a quiet young gentleman who once in a while came over to make sure that we were ok. Complimentary bread was fresh, homemade, and light with a nice crust. It's served with olive oil and fresh marinara. I can easily eat the whole basket. Appetizers: Fried calamari. Definitely get it. Calamari was fresh, not chewy, and the breading was light and crunchy. It's served with fresh marinara wit crushed red pepper. Portobello with Gorgonzola. Super creamy and great Gorgonzola flavor. I cannot see the portobello because it's completely covered in cream. Great to dunk your bread to clean up the plate. Entrée I picked salmon. It's served with broccoli, potatoes, peppers in wine sauce. I don't like salty food so it's perfect for me. Make sure you squeeze the lemon to add more flavor. My husband had creamy fettuccine with scallops. I had a bite and it was delicious. Pasta was fresh and had great flavor. My friend has mushroom risotto but she said it was kinda bland so she asked for cheese and salt. Dessert Nutella cheesecake was decent To conclude, service was great. Food came right away. I recommend getting the pasta dish as the entree.

    The atmosphere is great!!

Today, I had linguine and clams with red sauce (which I requested), and it was fabulous!! Yum yum!!!

Steamed clams. Delicious and fresh! Use the homemade bread to dip into the broth.

Quaint restaurant with homemade everything! From the bread to the appetizers to the entrees, everything was flavorful and delightful. The steamed clams and calamaris were fresh and delicious. The lobster raviolis and spaghetti with marinara sauce were amazing. Will return.

This place is FIRE!!!…read more Best oysters I ever had, and they came with a lot of oyster liquor (natural juice that oysters produce, a mix of seawater from their habitat and their own internal fluids such as hemolymph (the invertebrate equivalent of blood) and cellular fluids). The oyster liquor makes it so the oyster remains fresh btw as well which is obviously uber important. We had oysters from Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut and all of the ones we chose you could taste the unique differences from one to the next. Crab cakes were on point; the vegetables were next level with the side of asparagus coming with roe on top of it. New England soup was actually light and not heavy like most creamy NE soups which I appreciated as it made me have room for the rest of the meal. We also indulged in some Butterscotch Pudding which in my view had three distinct flavors. The very top tasted similar to sweet creme Brule, the actual pudding was creamy and delish and there was a garnish of whipped cream I believe on top. All items surpassed my expectations and we will definitely be repeat customers. Highly Recommend. As always people SYOY!!!!

I think the last time I was at this corner munching on something it was a different place. But, on…read morethe multi-festival Saturday, second of May in the year 2026, I can definitively say that I've now tried the little seafood spot on one of our favorite corners, that we're almost always just passing by to get to Time. First, the friendly, informative service: in an oyster bar with a rotating fresh selection, that's an underrated must. We were seated outside, given a rundown of the menu and "as it's ready" flow of the kitchen. We got a pair of cocktails, the Melonata and a Tequila Julep. I think the Melonata might be my new summer favorite. It looks like Ecto Cooler but doesn't give a distinct feeling of growing diabetes while drinking it. In grown up terms, it was well balanced, not too sour, not too sweet, and deeply herbal, fruity, and refreshing at the same time. The Tequila Julep was a Mint Julep with tequila instead of bourbon. It was good, though it's hard to mess that set of ingredients up. We got a selection of oysters and a shooter. Every oyster was distinct and different. Felt like there were no "different on the menu but same in flavor profile" that you can sometimes run into. This implies it's well curated. I have no idea, because I'm not an expert fishmonger, nor do I know whether that term specifically applies here - case in point. Anyway, I got 2 from Washington State, and another from Cape May. The first WA was large, buttery, and had the satisfying chew of young coconut flesh. Semi sweet. The second was smaller, sharper, and briny as hell - tasted of the ocean. And finally, the Cape May was mild and fresh, a good balance between the two others. It was a perfect little tasting menu that I'd created by just ordering the first three guys off the list. Not sure what selection came with the shooter, but the concoction in the shot glass shooter was bright green and pickly. Glad I got it as a contrast to the classics with what I assumed was red wine vinegar. Besides that, we snacked on salmon avocado toast with the Calabrian Chili Oil. It was also very, very good. Sometimes things are better than the sum of their parts. This is true here, but it's also worth noting that the individual parts - the bread, the smoked salmon, the chili oil, the avocado, the shaved onions - were excellent in their own right. We will be back for sure.

Placed an order for drinks, oysters and the rest of happy hour menu and choice selection of regular menu. I assumed things would come out staggered. Usually cocktails and raw bar would come first. But no. Raw bar came after sandwiches and wings so that threw off the ambiance. I still hadn't received my drink as more food was being delivered around me; and while I was watching one bar staff crouching under the bar on their phone, after a while I was like...do you know if my drink is on the way? It was her. She forgot. Literally It's first seating at the bar. Anyways wings were fine. oysters and clams great. Shrimp toastie & fish Sandwich fine. But when it came to the Al Pastor Octopus that I generally love here, this one was both chewy and slimy. Like the whole sleeve of the octopus had a slime layer- , was it the tentacles part? I had to keep spitting out. Not a nice chargrilled taste but each slice chewy with slime layer. Bleh. So disappointed. Threw the $20 into the trash. Didn't even get an "oh no" from the staff. Like why did we not want it when asked and I made the face. each bite was slime We settled up and immediately went next door to eat at double knot and that, per usual, WAS 5 star amazing.

The decor is colorful with a nautical theme. Since there were so many options, I had a hard time deciding what to order. I finally went with one of the seafood combination boils, and chose Combo A, which consisted of half pound snow crab, half pound shrimp with no head, corn, potato, and broccoli. I also added Sausage, which was $1 extra. I was very happy with the Snow Crab, because the legs were nice and thick. I used the cracker tool to get the meat out and it worked pretty well. The crab meat was delightfully tender, flaky, and was full of flavor made even tastier in the buttery garlic sauce. The shrimp had to be peeled, but was quite juicy and succulent. The veggies were fresh, soft, and cooked perfectly. The sausage was wonderfully well seasoned. I also got to try Coconut Shrimp, Hush Puppies, and Sweet Potato Fries. The Coconut Shrimp was lightly breaded, amazingly crispy, with the great taste of coconut. The Hush Puppies were also decent, and satisfyingly crunchy. Sweet potato fries were yummy and addicting. Service was great. Our server was friendly and on top of it, making sure we were taken care of. I was certainly happy with meal.
