Had a girls night out at Giorgio on Pine and it was great! The food is amazing. The service and staff were incredible. Such a quaint Italian spot with great Italian food! Would definitely go back! Plus that it is a BYOB!
What is up with the raving reviews yet only 4 stars?! My goodness, this is one of the best Italian restaurants that I've ever visited! Mind you, I understand they don't have risotto, ossobucco, and some other exvellent Italian staples, but man do they make up for it with abundance, price, and quality, The linguini with prosciutto is one of the best I've had. The fresh bread to start with garlic confit also paired well with our appetizers of prosciutto and carpaccio. Thankfully this was found on accident as it's walking distance from our hotel, so we're reserving our spot for tomorrow and will come prepared with our bottle of wine. This is a BYOB establishment. They do not have any alcohol on the premises but do not charge a cork fee. It's a true family run business, which is my go to back home so I'm so THRILLED to have stumbled on this wonderful establishment. I'd give 10 stars if I could! Don't walk here, RUN!
Quaint Italian place, so so glad we stopped by. Even though it was a busy Sunday night, we (party of 2) were seated right away. Our server, Jaime, changed my mind on what to order and all of her suggestions, I'm so glad I listened to. I ordered the spaghetti in vodka sauce and it was divine! We also shared a tiramisu which was unbelievably fantastic! She was nice enough to give us a complimentary chocolate cake slice which was yummy. From food to service to everything, this was an amazing experience and I'm already itching to return.
The service was excellent! we were seated right away, which felt especially lucky for a Friday night since this place is usually busy and packed. I was really excited to finally try it. We ordered the Caesar salad and calamari, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. For our mains, we both got pasta, and they did not disappoint. I had checked a few Yelp reviews beforehand, and they definitely lived up to the hype. This is easily one of my favorite places so far.
This place was amazing! It's very small and cozy, which gives it a really homey vibe, though it can feel a little cramped when it's full. We even got to meet Giorgio, who was very kind and welcoming. The bread was delicious (I just wish it had been a little warmer). For appetizers, we ordered the Caprese salad, which was really fresh and tasty. For my main dish, I got the lobster ravioli from the specials menu, and it was absolutely worth it and I highly recommend it! One thing to note is that the food leans a little on the salty side, but overall everything was really flavorful and very filling. I wish I had more room in my stomach to keep eating. Since it was my friend's birthday, we celebrated with desserts: cannoli and tiramisu cake, which were so delicious. Overall, I definitely recommend coming here!
Great little neighborhood bistro that requires reservations. It's BYOB and you can bring beer or wine which was perfect for us. It is small and very cozy. Staff was friendly. Food was great. Very small menu but everything was delicious. Would recommend.
Giorgio on Pine might be my favorite Italian restaurant in Philly. Given that the city is FILLED with local authentic Italian spots, this is a huge title to carry. The restaurant is small and intimate. The staff is knowledge, friendly and patient, even when turning out tables. They have a large menu of pasta and poultry dishes, but the magic is in their rotating specials. If you have an opportunity to try the sweet potato gnocchi, take it. We got an order for the table! It's BYOB, and they provide glasses and ice buckets. Everything from the complimentary bread and garlic oil, to the pasta dishes and the desserts a truly perfect. This is a great spot to bring someone from out of town to show them what a great food scene Philly has.
This might be the best italian food I've ever had! It was truly incredible! They started by bringing us complimentary bread and a garlic olive oil to eat with it? The bread had the perfect buttery flavor. Next, we ordered the Grilled Caesar Salad and it was also delicious. It did come warm which was interesting for a salad but makes sense considering it was grilled. I was not expecting it to be wedge style, but no complaints. For the main course, I ordered the Gnocchi and added chicken and LOVED it! I still can't stop thinking about their tomato basil sauce. My mom ordered the Parmesan Cheese Crusted Chicken Breast and liked it, but said my dish was far better. The restaurant seemed like a local, hole-in-the-wall, if you know you know, type spot. As a tourist, I never would have found it on my own without a local friend's recommendation. They got busy for the dinner rush but accommodated us without a recommendation, which was greatly appreciated! They had great service, from being seated to being served. Something that I thought was unique about the restaurant was that it is BYOB. Many people brought in their own beer/wine, which I thought was cool as many restaurants tend to charge a lot for alcohol.
Giorgio on pine is a very quaint and quintessential Philly Italian restaurant. I had the linguine and clams, which was not particularly flavorful or memorable. The tiramisu was very delicious though! Service was not super friendly or quick. Overall a good experience but there are better Italian spots out there!
Intimate Italian restaurant not far from the Kimmel Center. We came her for dinner before our show. The seating area is rather congested and you will be twelve inches from the table next to you. But, this just adds to the charm. This is an old fashion Italian place where you still have to call to make a reservation and your name is placed in a book. The food was excellent and our server was very attentive. We were offered complimentary wine which was very nice. I would recommend if in the area. Reservations are an absolute must.
Great Italian BYOB spot! I had the lobster ravioli which was delicious and came with nice and crisp, not overcooked, vegetables like grape tomatoes and asparagus. The bolognese and veal special were good too. I was also quite tempted by the linguine with clams so that will be for another day! We also really liked the olive oil with garlic and herbs they brought out with the bread at the beginning. Didn't have room for dessert but the tiramisu the table next to us ordered looked fantastic. The ambiance is casual and tables are packed a little tight but not too uncomfortably so. It is quite loud though so it did take a bit of shouting to hear each other even across the table. Definitely make a reservation if you're going on a busy weekend. There's also now a Giorgio on Pine II that's a few steps down the block!
My friend and I decided to check out this Italian BYOB spot since it seemed popular, but I left the meal wanting more. We came here with a dinner reservation, and upon arrival it was quite busy inside, so would rec reserving vs. walk-ins. On the bright side though, there's also another Giorgio on Pine II that's down the block, if this one is busy. Inside, the ambiance is casual, loud, and cozy - the tables are packed a bit tight. It took us some time to place our order and the food also took a while to come out, but the place was also bustling so it's understandable. The food is where I was disappointed - I wanted more flavor. For appetizer, we ordered the sauteed calamari, which was surprisingly bland. We had to add in black pepper just to get some kind of seasoning. Then we ordered the clam linguine, only for it to be extra salty. We ended with their special, which was a parmesan crusted pork chop in tomato sauce, served with potatoes and spinach, which saved the meal a bit. The pork was tender, and the portion size was generous. Overall, maybe I should've ordered their gnocchi or ravioli, which I later found out that's what they're more known for, but based on these three dishes, I was left wanting more.
Always an awesome experience. This restaurant is small so it's not the BEST for big groups but you can make it work. Many times I've been here, the service has been great. The food comes out fast and the servers are always very nice. The food is constantly good as well. I never had a bad meal at this place. They have tons of gluten free options with the items labeled on the menu so it's good place to visit for those who have gluten allergy.

We were invited to a party at Giorgio on Pine in the summer and as someone who lives trying new to me restaurants I couldn't wait. I scoped out the menu ahead of time and read all the reviews. When the day finally arrived I noticed how small the space was for an event. Everyone was crammed into the space and we were smushed into the corner. We were able to easily ignore the discomfort once we saw there was roasted garlic in olive oil on the table with fresh bread. I was so excited to try the sweet potato gnocchi that I had seen on socials, but it was no where to be found on the menu. When our server came to tell us the specials, she announced the sweet potato gnocchi and I was sold. We decided to start with the burrata, which paired well with the roasted garlic and bread. My sweet potato gnocchi was served in a decadent cream sauce. The gnocchi itself was very dense, almost a harder consistency. My sister in law got the regular ricotta gnocchi and it was pillowy and light, a completely different texture than mine. I still enjoyed mine, I just wish it could have been a little softer. We shared the cheesecake for dessert, and it was fine. Not memorable, but good. My sister in law got the creme brûlée and THAT was good. I regretted not getting that instead. Another person we were dining with got the pork chop and it was phenomenal. I wished I had gotten it, it was THAT good. For this experience, the ambience, location, and everything else considered I'd give it 3.5 stars. read more
Make no mistake, Giorgio on Pine is your quintessential rustic, old-school Italian spot--down to its owner greeting you at the doorstep when you enter. Its interior welcomes you with the direct view of the kitchen, with a slightly elevated seating space to its right split by a wall. All the staff was friendly throughout our whole meal, from explaining the many off-menu specials to their gratitude for dining in after delivering the check. For a Friday dinner, it still made for an attentive experience despite their busy atmosphere. (It's also BYO, but we opted without drinks for our dinner date.) The Food Breakdown: Mussels in White (4.5/5) - The white wine and garlic broth complemented the mussels really well. Lots of sweet sausage and onion accompany the stars of the dish. Lobster Ravioli (5/5) - Off-menu special. Packed full of flavor, and five large raviolis came with the order. Topped with a generous portion of crab meat and blush sauce that was every bit addicting. Parmesan-Crusted Pork Chop (5/5) - Meat and potatoes done right, with the house vegetable being spinach for our meal. The bone-in cut was super juicy, and the mushroom sauce provided a great complement. It's as filling as you can imagine. Tiramisu (5/5) - Great portion size, lots of cream, and delicately balanced between the coffee flavors. Made for a great finish to the meal. read more

No one does it like Giorgio! I've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years and it never disappoints. Was here last week for a get together with some friends. Coming to Giorgio feels like coming home. The ambience is upscale without feeling stuffy. The food is always warm and clings to your soul. You are welcomed with complementary bread served alongside their otherworldly garlic confit. I wish I could steal huge tubes of this! Tons of great vegetarian options on their menu too. Servers are fantastic. Can't wait to be back! read more

You can't go wrong anytime you choose Giorgio on Pine! For authentic, generously portioned, flavorful dishes and the option to bring your own bottles of wine, Giorgio offers a perfect dining experience for date nights or celebrations with friends! I would recommend calling to confirm your reservation, as they have only recently switched to an online system. We always look forward to coming back! read more
Going to start this off with clearing up that we were in Giorgio on Pine II (which is right next door, owned by the same man, and has either a similar or identical menu!) I took my partner here for their birthday since they LOVE the main restaurant, but I honestly prefer the atmosphere of Giorgio on Pine II and they've never been. It's much smaller than the main restaurant, and has a more intimate feel. The server, Giovanni, is a sweetheart and took amazing care of us! The food here is truly out of this world. You get some garlic confit and bread to start, but we also ordered the burrata salad (a special menu item, so if you wanna try get there ASAP!) which was so fresh and delicious. We both got spaghetti dishes, mine had veggies in a vodka sauce. They got pancetta and marinara. The serving sizes are huge! Neither of us finished our dishes, but we were also making sure to leave room for dessert. For dessert we split the best tiramisu I've ever had and a cappuccino. And in true italian fashion we enjoyed our meal over the course of two and a half hours. We did not feel rushed at all, we enjoyed our wine and talked all evening in the beautiful restaurant. Smelling the dishes cooked in the open kitchen and enjoying our night out together. If you have a special occasion or looking for an elevated date night this is the spot to do it. They are also BYOB! read more

Amazing Italian food and BYOB! I was with a very large party and they were so accommodating. I had the spaghetti a la vodka and the burrata appetizer. The burrata was great and was a large enough portion to split with others. I loved my pasta!! Was so flavorful and fresh. The bread service was also amazing and was served the bread with a garlic confit. So delicious and I will be back! The owner (I think) was also walking around the whole time greeting guests. Lovely space with amazing, authentic Italian food. read more

Made reservations a few weeks in advance for dinner for four on at 7pm on a Monday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. Shortly after being seated the restaurant was packed. They give you a basket of bread and oil with garlic in it! We each ordered an appetizer for the table: Sautéed calamari, grilled sweet sausage, traditional caprese and the carpaccios salad. Entrees were: pork chop special, a veal dish, gnocchi and linguine. Dessert: tiramisu, crème brulette and a vanilla and chocolate ice cream type dessert. Everything was wonderful! We never felt rushed, the service was great and the food was delicious!! read more

This place came highly recommended by a friend, and I was really looking forward to eating pasta after looking at their menu. They offer a lot of different varieties, they had lobster ravioli, clam linguine, potato gnocchi. But I was pretty stuffed already before arrival and felt super heavy after eating a pretty big Philly cheesesteak for lunch. I decided to just order the mussels with white wine sauce and the carpaccio salad, which was delicious and came with shaved Parmesan. I definitely will come here again because from what I could taste trying my friend's orders, their pasta was very delicious. One of my favorite things about this place was the bread and the garlic confit that it was served with. read more

Giorgio on Pine is everything you'd want from an authentic Italian restaurant. It's a warm, homey vibe and amazing food. Giorgio the owner was there chatting with guests and making you feel like family. Halen at the front desk engaged with us while we waited for our table and ensuring we felt welcomed. The space is cozy, with low ceilings, exposed brick walls, and a charming rustic feel. The tables are a bit close together, but it just adds to the intimate, lively atmosphere. The mussels were fresh and flavorful, and the lobster ravioli was a standout, with large portions and a rich sauce. Everything tasted so fresh and came out surprisingly quick. read more
Went here for a fixed meal event with family style appetizers. I really enjoyed the caprese salad and the grilled Caesar salad. I did not like the baked calamari and shrimp...For my main, I got the gnocchi with beef which was ok. I was hoping for more beef and less pasta but that wasn't the case. For dessert, the tiramisu was really airy and fluffy! The location is also BYOB and they will provide ice buckets. read more

Smaller, cozy vibe at this old school Italian restaurant. We had a late reservation for our big group, and they have you order all your food at once which is odd but our server was kind of rude about it and we told him we were going to order a bunch of things and share them all and he was defensive saying we all needed at least one entree, then changed his tune a bit when we ordered pretty much the whole menu. The food was all absolutely delicious, but takes a ridiculous amount of time to come out. It was an hour and a half into our reservation and we hadn't received our entrees. I do understand it's a smaller place and everything is likely made from scratch, but I wasn't impressed by the service. Tip is built into the bill which I'm sure is why the waitstaff doesn't care much about being friendly but that's the reason for 4 stars. The biggest hits were the ravioli, sweet potato gnocchi, and bolognese. read more

Amazing hospitality!!! For one, the man who appears to be the owner was present and he was very attentive making sure everyone in the restaurant was satisfied. It's a very small space and it's also bring your own wine. I didn't realize that or else, I would've brought some. But the staff was nice enough to give us the rest of a left over bottle of white wine. My pasta was delicious, but the tiramisu was worth bragging about. That's not a dessert that I ever enjoy, but the way they make it is PERFECT. I don't live in Philly but I would definitely recommend people try this spot if they're ever in the area! read more

Giorgio on Pine was Italian to remember! If you go, you have to order the gnocchi-- the softest most pillowy gnocchi I've tried! How difficult is parking?
It's in a residential neighborhood so it would be street parking. We took an Uber to avoid that so I'm not sure if the spots have permits or if it's open parking. If you are anywhere close an Uber might be a good idea.
