This is my "wine" down chill spot after work. It's been a little while but always a great experience. My favorite: Calamari & Fries Spicy Ahi Tuna Salad Or Mista Salad. Lavender & Lemon Drop are great but lately I would have a Sangria or glass of wine. Service is attentive and kind. Great portions, fresh and consistent. read more

Ordered food for my team from here and they were pleased by my restaurant choice. I was most excited for my rigatoni penne vodka with shrimp, but I disliked the shrimp. The shrimp was very bland, burnt and just did not belong. I would've been more pleased with the pasta alone. read more

We went here with our little one last month - they had a kid's menu, which was one of the reasons why I picked this as our dinner option for our family day out. Had a really good experience - staff were all polite and helpful, food was really good and the place itself is a good vibe. Bonus - you can get validated parking for the lot above/next to the restaurant as long as you purchase at least one entree! Good spot that we said we would plan to go to, and even try out some of the other locations. read more

Solid restaurant! Not understanding the low reviews since myself and the group I came with really enjoyed our visit here. First off, I love the decor of the restaurant. It's updated and spacious and has seating for any amount of groups of people you may be visiting with. Our waitress was great and happily explained the menu to us. Portions are huge and should be shareable as she told us but we didn't mind ordering different things. I ordered the steak sandwich which was delicious. Kinda greasy but super flavorful and the portion was huge. I would definitely come back. read more

While we've gone for lunch and dinner, my favorite time to visit is happy hour. The deals are great as long as they haven't run out of anything. The truffle fries are perfection, cheesesteak eggrolls are both delicious and filling, and HH Sangria hits the spot every time. They do get a little busy and there seems to only be one main bartender but she has made it work every time I've been there. read more

Really nice host and server. Bathrooms were clean. Tables and decor were nice. It wasn't too loud. But we didn't come here for these things- we came here for what was supposed to be great food. Not sure how this place gets such a high rating. Drinks were weak. Ordered Grandma's pie, which was bland with barely any cheese. Tiramisu was meh. read more

Overall a good spot for a quick bite. The service was fast and friendly, and they have a good beer and wine list, my favorite app were the stiffed long hots, they had a nice heat level, and it wasn't overly greasy with all the cheese. My main was a truffle pasta, which actually didn't have too much truffle in it. The cream sauce was a little thin, and the pasta was overcooked of my liking, bit the flavor was good. read more

This was a great place close by the Independence Hall for lunch. It was great to sit, relax, and have a good meal. I have gluten and dairy issues so I was relieved to know they had a gluten free menu. I ordered the Lemon Scrimp & Crabmeat with veggies instead of pasta. It was so good and flavorful. My husband order a pizza and loved it. Our server was great! We will definitely be back when we are in the area. read more

Last Saturday we were meeting up with a friend in the city for lunch. The restaurant we were originally meeting up at was unexpectedly closed. We stood there trying to find a place that was open that served Italian. LaScala's Fire was the pick! We drove over, found perfect street parking and walked around to the restaurant. We were seated right away in a booth in the window. I had never been to this restaurant. It has a great look (modern, sleek and clean with marble on many of the surfaces) and great m, friendly service. I had the eggplant parm that was very good and the serving was gigantic! My boyfriend enjoyed a pizza. If I find myself in this part of the city I would definitely go back! read more

Our group of 6 stopped by for dinner on a weekday. We made a reservation but the restaurant was nearly empty so maybe not necessary. I ordered the lemon crab and shrimp over linguine. I enjoyed this dish and I was surprised that they included quite a bit of crab. I also had the Workhorse prickly pear margarita sour beer that thru had on tap. I would order this again. Overall, we had a very good experience. read more

University city location had a power outage tonight. No fault of theirs, but very surprised no manager or server apologized or said theyd make some allowance for what happened. Plus, not sure why they didn't get stuff out of the fridge and offer food that would go bad if not used that didnt need to be heated. Just a weird experience, admittedly unexpected, but watched 2 managers just walk around and not interact w guests. read more

You can only make a 1st impression once - FACTS. First time at LaScala Fire, and I took my Mom, and brother Brandon for his birthday. PLEASE give our waiter, Val (Vasilios), a raise! He was friendly, always checked our table, told the guy performing there to wish my brother a happy birthday, AND Val personally sang Happy Birthday to my brother, himself. To add, the food was delicious, and with generous sized portions. I do not have any negative things to say. We plan to come back soon. Thank you, LaScala FIRE, and THANK YOU to Val. HE was the face and voice of the restaurant, and we were all more than happy. :-) read more

Meh, not a fan. Started the night watching one of the line cooks put two pieces of fish in the microwave then plating them on top of some vegetables. Made a mental note not to order the fish. Sat down, placed a drink order. It took so long I finally got up and went to the bar and grabbed three drinks. Was almost finished with the first by the time our first order showed up. If you come here, you might be better off sitting at the bar. Everything seemed to be moving a little faster there. read more

Found this place on the internet and have to say that the place is stylish, not too loud. You can choose where you want to sit. The waitress was very attentive. The food came very warm and in a time of may be 5 minutes we had all 4 dishes. Below please see the rating for our dishes - all dishes were nicely prepared and a very good size: Alicia's Sunday dinner (4/5) - was ready good, but just had it better in Auckland, that's why 4 Stars; Vegetarian Red Sauce Pizza (5/5) - very tasty with a variety of vegetables. Tasty dough! Lemon crab and shrimp (5/5) - Very tasty sauce, a lot of shrimp and crab; Pasta and Peas (4/5) - was too spicy, but otherwise very good; Average food rating (4.5/5) I will definitely come again when I am in town. read more

We had dinner at LaScala's in Center City last night. They were clearly understaffed, but our server Melanie was incredible. She was running nonstop helping every table, yet still took time to joke with us, check in, and make us feel taken care of. You could tell she genuinely loves what she does -- her attitude never slipped even while she was juggling everything. A real gem. LaScala's is lucky to have her. read more

I went to LaScala's Fire with a couple of friends for an early dinner. Walking in the restaurant has a nice casual, but classy feel. There is a bar and plenty of overhead TVs showing sports, but the restaurant is well-lit, clean and has a nice ambiance. I ordered the tortellini for dinner. It was served in a cream sauce. I would say it was not the best tortellini that I have ever had, but it was still tasty and filling. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food as well. Our waiter was kind and served the table quickly. He answered all of our questions, as well. Altogether, I would recommend LaScala's Fire if you are looking for a casual and tasty Italian meal in Philadelphia. read more

The LaScala looks like a upscale restaurant but I had a few issues with it. We ordered stuff artichokes and it was really the best I ever had. They literally melted in your mouth. My husband had lasagna which he enjoy. I had the chicken piccata which was also delicious. My daughter had the meatball sandwich and did not like it. It was very dry and she took 2 bites and was done with it. We also ordered a side of their homemade bread was delicious too. My issue was with the waiter service. She was very nice. I had to ask her twice to clear the dishes and then she literally took one plate at a time in between serving other people. So while waiting for our dessert our table was dirty from dinner. Which bothered me especially when a restaurant is supposed to be upscale. The other thing I witnessed was a party of 12 came in and wanted to eat outside. There were plenty of empty tables outside but they were told they couldn't put tables together outside. So while the food was good but pricey I probably wont be going there again. read more

In the words of the awesome Clint Eastwood, let's talk about the good, the bad and the ugly. The Bad: the service is horrible. Food comes out at different speeds, appetizers one at a time, entrees before the salads, and one pizza 30 minutes after all the other food and when we were almost done. The drink refills are so slow and it was rare that our waitress came to check on us. The bus boys reached in between us while we were eating to grab dirty plates and before I even had the time to wipe off my extra sauce with my bread! The Ugly: most of the patrons were seated in a central section which made it feel cramped. The music was so loud it was hard for us talk. Food was served without serving utensils and some cold. The dirty plates were removed faster than Houdini can say Abra Cadabra and were not replaced for the next course. The prices were high for what we all thought it was worth. The restaurant offers free parking in the lot above. When we asked to validate our ticket our waitress said we didn't need to get it validated as it was Sunday. Thank goodness I insisted because you absolutely have to have it validated or you will pay a hefty price to park. Our waitress spent a lot of the time on her cell phone so maybe she was just distracted...wonderful! (said sarcastically). The Good: Food was decent to very good. We ordered wild Mushroom Arancini, Crispy Parmigiano Artichokes, Four Cheese Max and Cheese, Caesar Salad, Three Cheese Piatta, Rigatoni Vodka, Eggplant Parmigiano, Burrata Pizza, Vegetarian Pie, Grandmas Pie, Limoncello Cake, LaScala Sundae and Lemon Sorbet. All and all I'd order each of these dishes again. The Max and Cheese was a standout as was the Rigatoni Vodka. The artichokes a bit sweet and my table had mixed feelings about the Arancini-some liked it, others thought it not cheesy enough. The pizzas were good. The best ever? Nah, but still good. The Caesar salad was mixed well with a dressing that had a slight anchovy flavoring. The eggplant was good, the linguini that it came with was awesome and if I ever returned here I would get a separate plate as a stand alone! The desserts were fair. Not impressive, a bit small but it did quench our sweet tooth from the carb load up we just had. All in all I loved my company and the food was good. Rushing back here, nope, but if I ended up here I wouldn't be devastated. read more

I've heard good things about Lascala's while in the city decided to just walk there from another location we were at. We made reservations just in case but when we walked in, it didn't appear to be packed. We were greeted and seated and immediately approached by our server, who was helpful and very polite. Our drinks were tasty and a good pour. We ordered fries, which were crunchy and nice and hot. Both pasta dishes weee good but could've used more seasoning/salt. I really had my mouth set on ordering pizza, but next time. Portion sizes were decent. Although I didn't drive, there actually happened to be meter parking available. read more

Really good Italian food. Came in here for an early dinner and everything was awesome. The space had a nice upscale feel to it and was very spacious and clean. The server informed us that the serving sizes are much bigger than most people would expect and that they're big enough to share. So we took his word for it and decided to get one entree and one appetizer to share. We ordered some basic dishes: Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti and Loaded Fries. He was right, the portions were humongous. We got some smaller plates and ate the food family style. The chicken parm was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of cheese topping the fried chicken. The loaded fries had cheese, truffle oil, peppers, and bacon. Both dishes were very good and would highly recommend them. The portion sizes are definitely a standout trait to me. I'm a pretty heavy eater and shared the food with somebody. Even I had to box up about half of both dishes to take home. I consider that a good thing in case that wasn't obvious. Would definitely recommend La Scala's for anybody looking for Italian food, big portion sizes, and just a nice place to eat in the city. read more

Very good food! We went at dinnertime on a weeknight and there was plenty of seating. The dining area and bathroom was clean, service was friendly.
