Lobster guacamole was NOT good and gamey tasting. Do not recommend!
    Jenna L.

Went for Sunday brunch on Labor Day weekend and it wasn't too crowded. It's nice you can have some traditional brunch items plus steaks courses. The Belgian waffles and sausage were really tasty. You receive 6 small waffles with a choice of bacon or sausage. The waffles have a nice crunch to them, so you won't receive anything soft/soggy, but you can still cut them with a fork only. They didn't come with butter, only a tiny portion of syrup, so that was annoying to sit and wait for before eating. The 8 oz filet and truffle mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had - and I eat steak often. My favorite appetizer was the stuffed jalapeños; these are a must! My reason for 4 stars is because the lobster guacamole was disgusting. The lobster was gamey tasting and ruined it all. For $32, it was a waste. They were also out of their popular chicken fried steak at 12:30pm so that was a bummer as we wanted to try it. Parking is ample, and the views of the patio, waterfall, pond are nice. I would go back again for dinner and order another filet with truffle mashed potatoes!

One of the top steakhouses in Lubbock. The menu has a decent variety of food options and I really enjoyed their mashed potatoes. Prices are higher than other places in town but I do go here for a good steak. Parking lot is often packed.

This was our first trip to Las Brisas. We had heard good things, so my wife and I went for a date night on a Friday evening. To my surprise, we were seated right away, as it was not overly busy. They had outside seating by their waterfall and pond, but it was nearly 100 degrees, so we sat inside. Waiter was very nice, and very friendly. Now, I knew this would not be a cheap meal. However, I was pretty shocked at their steak prices. The "special" that night was a tomahawk ribeye and mashed potatoes... for $225. Look, I'm sure it wasn't a bad steak, but I'm not dropping that kind of money on a single steak. We decided on some "cheaper" steaks, a 8 oz filet, and a 16oz ribeye, ($55 and $65 respectively) crazy thing, is that at this price, you get one dollop of mashed potatoes and 4-5 stalks of asparagus. No salad, unless you want to buy that too. Steaks came out cooked well. However, for the price, the ribeye was much more gristle and fatty than it should have been. Guess I should have ordered the "premium" ribeye for yet another $20. Mashed potatoes were not bad, but the asparagus was overcooked, hard, and had zero sauce or flavor. Was the steak pretty good? Sure, it wasn't terrible. However I've had far better steaks at other places here in town for half the money or less. Point is, if you're going to charge top dollar, you should serve top-shelf entrees. You're paying for the ambiance here. Not saying we'd never go back, but it would never be at the top of my list.

    Salmon and wagu ribeye.

The food is amazing and the employees are top notch! It is a little bit pricey but the environment and building is high end and fancy.

Might seem like a silly question, but summertime is often filled with casual situations; is there a dress code at Las Brisas?

No dress code! They have live music on the patio all summer long! You will love it!

While sitting in the Walmart parking lot researching places near where I'm staying for work in Lubbock, I came across The Funky Door Bistro Wine Room. I'm so glad I did. When I pulled up, I appreciated the ample parking and immediately noticed the unique wine‑glass door handles--such a fun touch. Inside, the décor is warm and inviting with wood accents, dim lighting, and a beautiful display of wines. The upstairs seating overlooking the main floor adds to the charm. The service was excellent from start to finish. I ordered a grapefruit mimosa and an egg‑white omelet with avocado, feta, spinach, and breakfast potatoes with caramelized onions and peppers. I was charged extra for egg whites, but it was absolutely worth it. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. From the hostess to the server, the service and timing were spot‑on. I truly enjoyed my brunch at The Funky Door. Thank you for a great experience.

I will give major props to the server, Mollie, and her manager for doing a phenomenal job resolving a minor issue with the order quickly, politely, and effectively. The atmosphere was fair with good music and humorous decor in the bathroom. The lights weren't for me, but others may like the statement. Where The Reserve was lacking was the food. The pepperoni pizza was pretty good, but again there are better options around town. It did taste like it had been prepared in a genuine brick oven. The tortellini was bland. The queso was good enough, but nothing to get excited about. The salsa was downright terrible. The chips were actually phenomenal. The margarita made no attempt to cover up the strong taste of tequila. The Chilton tasted like club soda and not much else. Lastly, some of the surprise fees made me feel like I was booking air travel or paying a wireless bill rather than getting a nice meal. The final charge was a few dollars more than what was shown on the ticket. I assumed this was probably due to a service charge for paying with a card, although I didn't see it with a quick glance at the receipt. In all fairness, I'm sure this was disclosed somewhere and I overlooked it. I have come to accept this as the way of the world now. Also, when we ordered the chips and queso, we were asked if we wanted salsa with it. We accepted the salsa with the assumption that it was complimentary. Granted, since we were asked, I should have assumed that there was a charge for it. The charge was reasonable, although wasted because the salsa was so terrible. I did receive approximately a 5% discount for the order mix-up, and I actually ended up with a free pizza as well. The service and attentiveness were truly exemplary. I would give this place a second chance if I were in the area, but I certainly will not go out of my way for it.

Children were crying, running from table to table and parents were not fazed in the least. I realize you have very little control with the parents. At prices these days and after raising 4 kids myself (if my children acted out or cried they were taken outside out of respect for the other patrons) I find it an unpleasant evening out. It was not just us that were affected .... Other tables around us commented and were displeased as well. Someone commented that when they came in there were very few diners .... His comment was it was probably due to the kiddos! Maybe my next review could be a bit more positive because the food was very good. I have kids and grandkids... and I am not a complainer but I don't want to be seated near these families if they cannot manage their own children.

We waited 20 minutes for drink and bread, the waiter refilled multiple of our iced teas with water because they had been empty for 30 minutes and then joked saying "well now they have water in a snarky tone" was not appreciated at all. 3. Thank you. Overall experience was terrible and it was my best friends first time and I was not happy, I used to work in customer service for 2 years and was a manager it's not that hard. Ambiance was fine, but customer service, kindness, respect, and people need to work or learn on how they talk to customers nicely.
