They were tasty. We also ordered the steak tip salad and went old school with the chopped steak. All were delicious. I even enjoyed one of their home brews - Windmill Wheat. We were too stuffed for dessert, so we ordered a bread pudding to go... Oh, my deliciousness - I had the bread pudding later that night, I wish we had ordered two. Highly recommend it!!! The cheese had a weird texture almost grainy and did not have a good flavor. The creamed spinach was very good as well as the and the pot pie. Mashed potatoes were decent, not a big fan of red skinned mashed potatoes with the skin. The server was very friendly.

Don't do an Avocado "mousse" - just do Avocado. My "breakfast platter" was satisfactory and actually reasonable at $15. My wife's French toast was listed as "croissant" ....but was NOT croissant. Maybe we hit it on a bad day. Who knows. But we left underwhelmed . The waiter did remove the coffee from our bill because we had to tell him about the cold temp- much appreciated for that . I'll try for dinner in the future - but not for breakfast/brunch.

We waited almost two hours for a table when we had been quoted 45 minutes, only to be moved to another room after finally being seated. When asked about the extensive wait and why we were moved, mr And mrs Cagle introduced themselves and then were rude to our party. Once a longtime favorite, Cagles was a huge disappointment. The food was okay and the servers very sweet but if the owners can't manage to Pretend they care about customer service then this is not a place I will spend my time or money. The consensus at the table at the end of the meal was that we will not be coming back to Cagles again. Life is just too short. read more

Rustic setting (it's actually on a family ranch) with a neat atmosphere (there's a gift shop and a whole town facade) combined with top quality food makes this one of my favorite stops in the Lubbock area. It's not quite what I'd call a five star steakhouse (Perini Ranch in Abilene comes to mind) but it is pretty dang good! read more

Personally, my favorite was the mac n cheese as it was creamy and tasted great, but my friends from Oregon were in TX for the first time and while she had never had collard greens, she couldn't get enough of them and literally went back for thirds. It's located in an ancient gas station/auto repair building and they haven't done anything to fix it up. But it absolutely fits with the food they serve. BBQ ain't alta cucina and in some ways the more rude the setting, the more appropriate it is. At any rate, they played good music--CCR, Fleetwood Mac, America, Dion and the Belmonts, etc. Bottom line, as long as joints as good as Pitforks and Smokerings and The Shack are open in the Lubbock area, I don't see any reason to be bothering with the lines and lack of seating at Evie Mae's. These are the local joints that are getting my cue money for the foreseeable future.
