Extra Rare Filet - "Chef" cannot cook a rare steak
    Krista A.

Do not come to this restaurant. The cook does not know how to make a steak at the temperature you order. I didn't eat my steak because it was way overcooked and was still charged $45+. This place literally took money and did not give me a steak.

First- I know there are several bad reviews, but if you look at the menubeforehand, and look at the prices, you should go into this, knowing that it's not a "fine dining" type of experience. This is more of a family-oriented, Texas style, restaurant experience. The GOOD- waitstaff was amazing, the complimentary bread was tasty, side salad was fresh, and for the quality of food, the price was fair. We started with the assorted appetizer-- lots of fried foods, all from a bag (it seemed). The price wasn't terrible, so didn't expect anything extravagant. I had the salmon- good flavor, but definitely overcooked. I'm sure cooking over a hot mesquite grill is tough to manage proper cooking with fish. Husband had the ribeye and said the flavor was amazing... And his steak was actually cooked pretty well! We also both had a Chilton to drink... This was a definite letdown because it was made with either tapwater or flat club soda... But again they were only $8 each, so we did not expect anything amazing. Overall- the atmosphere is super neat, and it's definitely laid-back...Go into it expecting a notch above Texas Roadhouse, but nothing like Double Nickel/Las Brisas, and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Lubbock, Texas steaks at its finest. Ribeye steak is a can't miss. Excellent service on drinks. Nice family dining atmosphere and worth the drive outside of Lubbock. Thanks

The steak was the best steak ever in my entire life. I ordered the steak medium-rare and it was pefectly juicy. And the breads were well baked too. The waiter was so polite and tried to get our orders as fast as he could. Ambiance was pretty good. There was so many people and I had to wait 40minutes but the old guys band made the waiting time enrich.

The wait was a little crazy and the staff was clearly out of their element with the booming crowd, but at the end of the day, the food spoke for itself! I'm a 9th gen Texan and love my BBQ. This was the sh*t! It was some of the best brisket I've ever had, seriously. Now people will say, "what place has the best BBQ?" My immediate thought is "clearly they've never had BBQ! As there's literally no place on earth with the best BBQ." If you've eaten your fair share then you know that's a trick question. The better question is, "who has the best brisket, or ribs, or nanner puddin, or whatever." Some places are great and others suck, but no one is the best at all of it. They may be above average or even exceptional, but they will still be better at one meat than another. We had brisket, turkey, beef rib, pulled pork, mild sausage and jalepeno, along with some brisket deviled eggs. Dude! If it were Cajun food, you'd have to slap yo mama. Fortunately it's BBQ so we loosen our belt strap and when we can't eat another bite, we grab the biggest spoon we can find and eat some nanner puddin. It was solid. For sides we had potato salad, cole slaw, mac n cheese and collard greens. Personally, my favorite was the mac n cheese as it was creamy and tasted great, but my friends from Oregon were in TX for the first time and while she had never had collard greens, she couldn't get enough of them and literally went back for thirds. As mentioned, our friends were in from Oregon and had never been to TX not ever had TX BBQ. Shack you did us proud!

We started the 2025 list and we are more than half-way through the list as of June 2026. Heading to the spots in West Texas takes some logistical planning, patience, and lots of gas for the drive from the Texas Gulf Coast. On our recent BBQ quest to West Texas, my family stopped at one our favorite spots (top 5), Evie Mae's BBQ in Woolworth. This was our third time to visit Evie Mae's. I'm a Texas Trinity traditionalist. So we always order the brisket, ribs, and sausage. The brisket was very good - great bark, nice smoke ring, and well seasoned. I will say the brisket was a bit drier than I remember but I will chalk that up to us arriving thirty minutes before they closed. Ribs were excellent - smokey sweet and moist. We got the Jalapeño Cheese sausage which was a wonderfully spicy and cheesy with a a nice snap to the casing. We also had the Cheesy Grits and Potato Salad which were wonderful. The pint of cheesy grits were completely gone. We also picked up a couple of the homemade cakes to complement our leftovers. Oh, did I mention the free beer too? That always accentuates the BBQ experience. The restaurant is still as warm and inviting as before. Parking is easy. The staff took good care of us and were still in good spirits before closing. The first time we were there we got to meet Mallory Armis who sold us on the Green Chile cheesy grits and we aren't big fans of grits. We look forward to there grits. While we briefly saw Mallory this time she was busy. Hoping to meet Armis next time we're back. Hat's off to the pitmasters and staff at Evie Mae's BBQ. We'll be back.

The menu was very easy to read, and provided enough variety in order to find exactly what you were looking for without needing to compromise on your appetite. The waitress was very friendly and provided her opinion on local favorites without demeaning other options, always a deal breaker for me when places do that, so she gets special love for her taking care of us that night. Once our meals arrived, it was time to dig in. The food was hot, prepared exactly as expected, and in typical Texas fashion there was more than we could expect to eat in a single sitting. At Chopped and Sliced BBQ, you will never leave hungry. Honorable mention to the fried Okra. I became the star of the night as almost everyone at the table couldn't get enough of it. Also, not sure if it was a regular or one-off, but the night we were dining in there was a man playing traditional Americana folk songs on guitar just inside by the entrance. He provided a nice relaxing atmosphere for the night without being too out or overbearing for my ears. I found myself tipping him on more than one occasion for his contributions to the evening.

Please pass on this following information to management and cooking staff; I do believe it is important, especially in this economy. Buyers want to get their moneys worth and I feel this is a ripoff. I get really agitated when an establishment sells a loaded baked potato and all they do to the potato itself is slice it down the middle and load the toppings on top of it. It ruins the process of eating the potato in a simple enjoyable fashion as a knife is actually needed to carve out bite size pieces of potato. An unfortunate result of this method is butter etc seeps out of the potato and into your general eating space. I got this order to go and had to mop my kitchen floor from the mess it created before I could actually eat it. Messy BBQ may be niche yall are trying to pitch but I do not think it is cute. The potato was semi hard and quite bland. After around 5-8 bites all I was left with was half of a plain unflavored potato I suggest cooking staff and management ensure their potatoes are properly cooked to the point that the potato feels like a ripe avocado . Kitchen staff should gently yet firmly push down the properly cooked potato to change the texture and create a reservoir to properly hold the toppings. Food gets zero stars, as I mentioned. I will give 2 stars because order was ready fast and the employee expediting to go orders was really nice. A theme of many of my reviews is "do it right or don't do it all". It is my opinion Rudy's should not sell baked potatoes until they overhaul their process.
