First- I know there are several bad reviews, but if you look at the menubeforehand, and look at the prices, you should go into this, knowing that it's not a "fine dining" type of experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is more of a family-oriented, Texas style, restaurant experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The GOOD- waitstaff was amazing, the complimentary bread was tasty, side salad was fresh, and for the quality of food, the price was fair. We started with the assorted appetizer-- lots of fried foods, all from a bag (it seemed). The price wasn't terrible, so didn't expect anything extravagant. I had the salmon- good flavor, but definitely overcooked. I'm sure cooking over a hot mesquite grill is tough to manage proper cooking with fish. Husband had the ribeye and said the flavor was amazing... And his steak was actually cooked pretty well! We also both had a Chilton to drink... This was a definite letdown because it was made with either tapwater or flat club soda... But again they were only $8 each, so we did not expect anything amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall- the atmosphere is super neat, and it's definitely laid-back...Go into it expecting a notch above Texas Roadhouse, but nothing like Double Nickel/Las Brisas, and you'll be pleasantly surprised.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Lubbock, Texas steaks at its finest. Ribeye steak is a can't miss. Excellent service on drinks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice family dining atmosphere and worth the drive outside of Lubbock.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thanks

The steak was the best steak ever in my entire life. I ordered the steak medium-rare and it was pefectly juicy. And the breads were well baked too. The waiter was so polite and tried to get our orders as fast as he could. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was pretty good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was so many people and I had to wait 40minutes but the old guys band made the waiting time enrich.

A short drive from Lubbock, this place is a treasure! Their steaks have so much flavor you want to lick the plate. (I resist, though. Ha!) I always get the smaller Jake ribeye and it is plenty of food and perfectly cooked (medium rare) every time. The owners are nearby and checking on their guests. At a recent visit, Lisa sat us, brought us beans, refilled our tea, and made us feel perfectly at home. Skip the local franchise options because truly Cagle's represents West Texas.

We arrived early evening so there was plenty of seating. Our server was Megan. She was excellent. We started off with the sidewinders - shrimp and cheese stuffed in a jalapeno and fried. They were tasty. We also ordered the steak tip salad and went old school with the chopped steak. All were delicious. I even enjoyed one of their home brews - Windmill Wheat. We were too stuffed for dessert, so we ordered a bread pudding to go... Oh, my deliciousness - I had the bread pudding later that night, I wish we had ordered two. Highly recommend it!!! Great place to eat, fun ambiance, good food, and if you're lucky, you'll get Megan as your server. We'll definitely be back!

Both were great- the sides were fantastic - really I can't say enough good things about this spot! Highly recommend - and there is live music in the bar which is great too!

While sitting in the Walmart parking lot researching places near where I'm staying for work in Lubbock, I came across The Funky Door Bistro Wine Room. I'm so glad I did. When I pulled up, I appreciated the ample parking and immediately noticed the unique wine‑glass door handles--such a fun touch. Inside, the décor is warm and inviting with wood accents, dim lighting, and a beautiful display of wines. The upstairs seating overlooking the main floor adds to the charm. The service was excellent from start to finish. I ordered a grapefruit mimosa and an egg‑white omelet with avocado, feta, spinach, and breakfast potatoes with caramelized onions and peppers. I was charged extra for egg whites, but it was absolutely worth it. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. From the hostess to the server, the service and timing were spot‑on. I truly enjoyed my brunch at The Funky Door. Thank you for a great experience.

We definitely didn't need a reservation. Instead of a full menu, options were restricted to a limited weekend brunch. The acoustic music was uncomfortably loud, and despite a floor full of idle staff, service was agonizingly slow. A cocktail took 30 minutes *and a reminder* to arrive. Food took 45 minutes, and the $42 filet ordered medium-rare arrived medium-well. After sending the steak back, we waited another 30 minutes before having to track down a manager for assistance. By the time a properly cooked steak arrived, the rest of the party had finished eating and their plates were cleared. While the manager apologized, comped the steak, and served the re-fire herself, it could not salvage a completely botched celebration. Avoid this place. I cannot fathom why it has so many positive reviews.

I will give major props to the server, Mollie, and her manager for doing a phenomenal job resolving a minor issue with the order quickly, politely, and effectively. The atmosphere was fair with good music and humorous decor in the bathroom. The lights weren't for me, but others may like the statement. Where The Reserve was lacking was the food. The pepperoni pizza was pretty good, but again there are better options around town. It did taste like it had been prepared in a genuine brick oven. The tortellini was bland. The queso was good enough, but nothing to get excited about. The salsa was downright terrible. The chips were actually phenomenal. The margarita made no attempt to cover up the strong taste of tequila. The Chilton tasted like club soda and not much else. Lastly, some of the surprise fees made me feel like I was booking air travel or paying a wireless bill rather than getting a nice meal. The final charge was a few dollars more than what was shown on the ticket. I assumed this was probably due to a service charge for paying with a card, although I didn't see it with a quick glance at the receipt. In all fairness, I'm sure this was disclosed somewhere and I overlooked it. I have come to accept this as the way of the world now. Also, when we ordered the chips and queso, we were asked if we wanted salsa with it. We accepted the salsa with the assumption that it was complimentary. Granted, since we were asked, I should have assumed that there was a charge for it. The charge was reasonable, although wasted because the salsa was so terrible. I did receive approximately a 5% discount for the order mix-up, and I actually ended up with a free pizza as well. The service and attentiveness were truly exemplary. I would give this place a second chance if I were in the area, but I certainly will not go out of my way for it.

Children were crying, running from table to table and parents were not fazed in the least. I realize you have very little control with the parents. At prices these days and after raising 4 kids myself (if my children acted out or cried they were taken outside out of respect for the other patrons) I find it an unpleasant evening out. It was not just us that were affected .... Other tables around us commented and were displeased as well. Someone commented that when they came in there were very few diners .... His comment was it was probably due to the kiddos! Maybe my next review could be a bit more positive because the food was very good.
