I like this place for late-night. Workers are typically friendly and it takes no longer than 5 minutes to get your bbq taco. My favorite is the sausage with pico and bbq sauce, the steak is good too. The tacos are $6 each, but they are loaded with meat & cooked to order generally. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you're out in the depot and you're hungry, check this place out.

I discovered this place while walking along depot district and following the aroma of barbecue. The food is quite delicious for a lesser amount of price. You can definitely get more food for your buck. Place does not have seats and tables. You can either eat your food standing or take it to go which most customers do. Parking is on the streets. The sauce of BBQ is a must to have. It's flavorful and has a bit of spicy hint. If you don't like hot sauce then stick with regular barbecue sauce. There are variety of meat to choose from such as beef, pork, chicken, or sausages in a pita bread.

In the thick!! Fundamental source of earthy soul food!

My first time to stay in Lubbock was Texas Tech homecoming weekend. My buddy and I came over to see his daughter cheer and see the game. I read all the reviews here and I just laughed at the bad reviews!!! My frame of reference is that I grew up in Louisiana and soul food and black culture are what you seek for a great experience and the best ethnic food where I come from. All these Whataburger gobbling goat ropers and city kids transplanted to farm country sound like they need to find a Chipotle and leave the real food to the initiated. This food rocks!! But, it ain't Bob's Chop House or Pappa's Steakhouse. It's a full on limited menu of quality food that's as much an experience as a meal! We returned the next night and saw a steady stream of customers, many obviously regulars, coming and going happy as clams with their food both nights (and we didn't even arrive until after the bars closed). Bad reviews for this place are a reflection of a sheltered existence. Don't let the whiners deter you from popping in here some late night and adding to YOUR bucket list!!

Big E's is always good, but especially when you've been drinking! The chicken is, be careful with the hot sauce, it's warm!

Girl working back there threw a fit and cussed at me when I asked about my one burrito after I was waiting for 30 minutes.

Ask the Community - Big E's Barbeque

Where is it located?

18th & buddy holly. Off of Marsha sharp. Down in the depo with all the bars in Lubbock Texas. If you need to find it & this is not helpful try rolling down your window & follow the smell of BBQ, 😂. I hope this helped!

If I have cash on me I'll go over there and get a brisket wrap with bbq and pico de gallo (10/10 great combination) or a sausage wrap with mustard...

The brisket was incredible and had the best bark! We went on George Strait Saturday at lunchtime…read more The manager said she had been there 13 years along with another staffer, and neither had seen a line like we experienced on Saturday. The wait was a little crazy and the staff was clearly out of their element with the booming crowd, but at the end of the day, the food spoke for itself! I'm a 9th gen Texan and love my BBQ. This was the sh*t! It was some of the best brisket I've ever had, seriously. Now people will say, "what place has the best BBQ?" My immediate thought is "clearly they've never had BBQ! As there's literally no place on earth with the best BBQ." If you've eaten your fair share then you know that's a trick question. The better question is, "who has the best brisket, or ribs, or nanner puddin, or whatever." Some places are great and others suck, but no one is the best at all of it. They may be above average or even exceptional, but they will still be better at one meat than another. We had brisket, turkey, beef rib, pulled pork, mild sausage and jalepeno, along with some brisket deviled eggs. Dude! If it were Cajun food, you'd have to slap yo mama. Fortunately it's BBQ so we loosen our belt strap and when we can't eat another bite, we grab the biggest spoon we can find and eat some nanner puddin. It was solid. For sides we had potato salad, cole slaw, mac n cheese and collard greens. Personally, my favorite was the mac n cheese as it was creamy and tasted great, but my friends from Oregon were in TX for the first time and while she had never had collard greens, she couldn't get enough of them and literally went back for thirds. As mentioned, our friends were in from Oregon and had never been to TX not ever had TX BBQ. Shack you did us proud!

The menu was very easy to read, and provided enough variety in order to find exactly what you were looking for without needing to compromise on your appetite. The waitress was very friendly and provided her opinion on local favorites without demeaning other options, always a deal breaker for me when places do that, so she gets special love for her taking care of us that night. Once our meals arrived, it was time to dig in. The food was hot, prepared exactly as expected, and in typical Texas fashion there was more than we could expect to eat in a single sitting. At Chopped and Sliced BBQ, you will never leave hungry. Honorable mention to the fried Okra. I became the star of the night as almost everyone at the table couldn't get enough of it. Also, not sure if it was a regular or one-off, but the night we were dining in there was a man playing traditional Americana folk songs on guitar just inside by the entrance. He provided a nice relaxing atmosphere for the night without being too out or overbearing for my ears. I found myself tipping him on more than one occasion for his contributions to the evening.

Ordered 2 baked potatoes and honestly I was not that impressed. The potatoes were semi-soft and…read moreparts tasted kind of raw. Please pass on this following information to management and cooking staff; I do believe it is important, especially in this economy. Buyers want to get their moneys worth and I feel this is a ripoff. I get really agitated when an establishment sells a loaded baked potato and all they do to the potato itself is slice it down the middle and load the toppings on top of it. It ruins the process of eating the potato in a simple enjoyable fashion as a knife is actually needed to carve out bite size pieces of potato. An unfortunate result of this method is butter etc seeps out of the potato and into your general eating space. I got this order to go and had to mop my kitchen floor from the mess it created before I could actually eat it. Messy BBQ may be niche yall are trying to pitch but I do not think it is cute. The potato was semi hard and quite bland. After around 5-8 bites all I was left with was half of a plain unflavored potato I suggest cooking staff and management ensure their potatoes are properly cooked to the point that the potato feels like a ripe avocado . Kitchen staff should gently yet firmly push down the properly cooked potato to change the texture and create a reservoir to properly hold the toppings. Food gets zero stars, as I mentioned. I will give 2 stars because order was ready fast and the employee expediting to go orders was really nice. A theme of many of my reviews is "do it right or don't do it all". It is my opinion Rudy's should not sell baked potatoes until they overhaul their process.
