When in Lubbock if you want BBQ you need to stop at Bigham's Smokehouse! The restaurant has lots of seating, the staff is friendly and the food is great! We tried to control ourselves and just got sandwich plates, but ended up with 3 deserts! The brisket was especially good that day! The cobblers are amazing! But the banana pudding was over the top! Everything is bigger in Texas... except for the plates at Bigham's Smokehouse. I was really looking forward to a big plate of Texas bbq, but received really small portions. My chopped brisket was chewy and far from tender. The pork belly serving was decent, but I've had wayyy better in other parts of Texas. I can't speak on the service as I order led it to go, so i can't comment on that or the ambiance of the restaurant itself. The sides were good and I loved the loaded tater salad. The coleslaw was pretty good too! Glad I didn't go with a three meat plate. Overall, this place makes me want to go back to Dallas or San Antonio where they truly know their barbecue! The Good: 1- The ribs had the perfect bark, taste and texture, just melted in my mouth. 2- The turkey was smokey, tender and tasted great. 3- The coleslaw was fresh and crunchy just the way I like it. 4- The staff was friendly, service fast and the dining room clean. The Bad: When Lone Star is the top choice in a limited selection, the beer options needs an upgrade. The Ugly: 1- Soggy and tasteless beef brisket, so disappointing. 2- The potato salad looked and tasted more like mashed potatoes gone bad. Visited Bigham's after a recommendation for good BBQ. Overall I thought it was a decent meal for the price. I went towards the end of the day, so they were out of things. Ended up ordering the two plate deal with chopped brisket (really great), the 1/2 chicken (could have lived without. The skin was chewy and only fine for flavoring), a side of green beans (per a recommendation - these were really good), fried okra (a half order of these would have been better), and apple cobbler (so good). I could have lived without the Toast. This could have fed two people - I had plenty left over. I had no issue with parking or finding a table. The service was outstanding. Everyone was super attentive. I also loved that they had a drive through. I think it's worth visiting, but you have to be selective with what you order. Not all food items are equal. read more

When we got home we realized they had left out one of the meats we ordered, so a trip back was required, they did honor our original order, so that was good and mistakes happen. The food was not my favorite. The pulled pork had the taste of lighter fluid, the brisket was overly pepper, and the cole slaw was too sweet. Too many other choices in town to return here. read more

We live close to this location consequently we eat here fairly often. The food is not great but in the last few years it has become less than mediocre. The service has never been great although several of the former employees were friendly & helpful. Not anymore. There is a real sense that they wouldn't work here if they could get a job somewhere else. Inflation has hit every place in the restaurant industry but Bingham's has always thought highly of their barbecue & since Covid it's much worse. It's expensive & the portions are all smaller. The sides of which there are few options are also smaller & not as many included on plates. This week we ordered 2 beef sandwiches to go which we often get when we're in a hurry. We usually consider it a better choice than burgers or tacos to eat in the car. We ordered slice beef without sauce because the sauce has too much sugar for a diabetic. They give you sauce add if you want. Or sandwiches were smaller but the real issue was the quality & quantity of the beef. It was shredded & it had sauce mixed in to moisten it. It somehow reminded me of the elementary school cafeteria. It was just not a satisfying meal. One more complaint: the daily specials. We often get the Sunday special, the 1/2 chicken plate. No matter what time of day, they are often out of chicken or baked potatoes or something. Planning inventory seems to be missing. read more

So my biggest issue with Bigham's was the price I paid for the portions I got. I feel like I paid a heck of a lot for not a whole lot. I got the two meat plate plus an additional side for about $20 after tip. I was very underwhelmed by how much (how little) meat was on my plate. I wouldn't say I left full, I'd say I left "not hungry." I feel like I'd be OK with paying less for what I got or getting more for what I paid. The food itself and service were great. I just don't feel like I got a lot of value for the amount of money is shelled out. I won't actively avoid Bingham's, but I will certainly explore other options. read more

Bought 1/2lb of brisket and 1/2lb of chopped brisket with 1 qt of potato salad which I now regret. The sliced brisket was very dry, potato salad was not very good either. I was not expecting this to be such a small amount for the price paid. This was definitely not enough to feed the family of 5, and they did not give us any condiments like sauce, pickles, onions, etc. I regret not buying from the local vendor on the street. Everything was great The service was great! The food was awesome and the restaurant was clean.

Several of us went for lunch so we were able to get a variety. The ribs and smoked turkey were really good. The chopped brisket and sausage were average. We enjoyed the sides and the cobbler was good. The only reason I didn't give it a five was because of price. Small rib plate (3), 2 sides and cobbler was $25 for lunch. Seems steep. read more

Dry meat, in my opinion, is one of the worst things a restaurant can serve, so I was extremely disappointed when I ordered the brisket and ribs expecting something juicy and smoky and instead got something that was tough and bland. The brisket was pretty tasteless and dry. It wasn't inedible and became better with the sauce, but when I eat barbeque, I want to taste the flavor of the meat, not just the sauce. The ribs had a better flavor and I could taste the smokiness; however, the outside of the ribs seemed like they dried out, so it was extremely tough. The inside of the ribs weren't that bad and were pretty fatty and tender but they weren't good enough to salvage the rest of the food. The sides were pretty standard. The fried okra, the macaroni salad, and the Texas toast were all average. While this place isn't the worst barbeque restaurant, I don't see any reason to go here over some other barbeque place. Other places might be a little more expensive, but I think that it is completely worth it to pay a little more for a better product. read more
