What an absolute gem and an AMAZING experience! Walked in not knowing what to expect while doing what we do best, road tripping, and immediately greeted by a great team of women eager to help and answer any questions! Offered samples before placing our order, shared their very own favorites and told us we wouldn't be disappointed...they were 100% accurate on their assumptions!!! We tried the ribs, pulled pork, and chopped brisket and HEAVEN! Every bite was better than the last! The cream corn, I do not like cream corn, DELICIOUS!!! Not your average cream corn! The beans, Lordt help me, a perfect blend of spices in EVERY bite... The warm peach cobbler and the banana pudding were the perfect ending of our taste buds fantastic journey!!! We will be craving this flavor filled, best bbq sauce, bbq until we meet again in a few months! Did I mention the AMAZING staff We will be back again, and again, and again! Lovely meeting you Mr Pearce, your Lovely Wife, and amazing Staff!!! Julie, Nikki, & Jordan, the Cali girls

put my side of coleslaw on top of my sandwich and it was amazing. The brisket was well seasoned and super tender I loved it. I also tried the Mac and cheese and the macaroni salad that was amazing. The food was well priced and delicious!

Got here at 5:30pm only to find that the only meat they had was chopped and ribs. While we were ordering the gentlemen taking our order started taking the person behind us and we still needed one more entree for our son. Luckily another member saw us already frustrated and asked if this was all we ordered. This happened while the people behind us jumped In front of us and we had to wait longer. Then we got to the sides and they have none of the sides listed so we had to decide on the spot what to get. Then we get to the drinks and that was a further S**t show. This place is extremely unorganized. We got the burger for our son and it wasn't even cooked so we had to send it back to and cooked more. The best part was sitting down and starting to eat, only to realize that the food was ice cold. If I wanted cold food I would get a tv dinner. The prices are way too proud for the quality of the food or amount you get. Save your money and go to one of the veteran bbq places in Lubbock. This place needs an extreme amount of help and the old man running things needs to not yell at his employees when people are trying to eat. The ambience is ok but nothing to write home about. 1/10 won't come again.

Worst place ever hope it goes under.

I wouldn't give it stars, they have horse flies served with there food. And wanna give younger people smaller portions. While the old folks are getting there moneys worth. And the bbq isn't even that good for the price there trying to serve with.

More samples I love this place!

I'm not sure how to start this one but here we go with a smh beginning of some of the best BBQ I've ever had period! Not just BBQ but the sides of which I had beans and Mac n cheese. I'm not even a mac n cheese guy but it was over the top with this crust like on a casserole, I was impressed. The beans holy cow! They were thick with juice and not runny with pieces of BBQ in them just like momma made with the ham remember that? Shoot I haven't said a thing about the sticky ribs that's my take on them and I'm saying they would take the prize at anyone's cook off! Tender but not falling off the bone and the sauce wasn't over powering or drippy which I don't like when it does that, something about getting it on me I guess and that being said the flavor was perfect! The chopped beef sandwich was epic as well with the perfect flavor. All in all I will be back! Here's the cool part today tomorrow and Thursday it's no charge they are calling it samples they do have a tip jar and obviously I left a nice one because that was the right thing to do in my opinion, the grand opening is Friday with a menu, I haven't seen the prices but with a brick n mortar, beef prices and labor it can't be free. I'll be back.

Ribs were incredible. Very peppery and basted with a vinegar-based mop sauce. Quite different from The Shack's (Lubbock), which lean more sweet. Sausage was outstanding. Quite possibly the best I've had anywhere. I assume they have it prepared to a proprietary recipe given all the sausage production in and around Slaton. The sides were good, but not as good as the meat. Mustard-based tater salad was of the mashed rather than chunky variety. Good mustard flavor, but I prefer chunky tater salad. Never had fried cabbage before, but this was very good with lots of bacon in it. I'd definitely order it again. Pleasant although primitive atmosphere at this joint. It's located in an ancient gas station/auto repair building and they haven't done anything to fix it up. But it absolutely fits with the food they serve. BBQ ain't alta cucina and in some ways the more rude the setting, the more appropriate it is. At any rate, they played good music--CCR, Fleetwood Mac, America, Dion and the Belmonts, etc. Bottom line, as long as joints as good as Pitforks and Smokerings and The Shack are open in the Lubbock area, I don't see any reason to be bothering with the lines and lack of seating at Evie Mae's. These are the local joints that are getting my cue money for the foreseeable future.

The wait was a little crazy and the staff was clearly out of their element with the booming crowd, but at the end of the day, the food spoke for itself! I'm a 9th gen Texan and love my BBQ. This was the sh*t! It was some of the best brisket I've ever had, seriously. Now people will say, "what place has the best BBQ?" My immediate thought is "clearly they've never had BBQ! As there's literally no place on earth with the best BBQ." If you've eaten your fair share then you know that's a trick question. The better question is, "who has the best brisket, or ribs, or nanner puddin, or whatever." Some places are great and others suck, but no one is the best at all of it. They may be above average or even exceptional, but they will still be better at one meat than another. We had brisket, turkey, beef rib, pulled pork, mild sausage and jalepeno, along with some brisket deviled eggs. Dude! If it were Cajun food, you'd have to slap yo mama. Fortunately it's BBQ so we loosen our belt strap and when we can't eat another bite, we grab the biggest spoon we can find and eat some nanner puddin. It was solid. For sides we had potato salad, cole slaw, mac n cheese and collard greens. Personally, my favorite was the mac n cheese as it was creamy and tasted great, but my friends from Oregon were in TX for the first time and while she had never had collard greens, she couldn't get enough of them and literally went back for thirds. As mentioned, our friends were in from Oregon and had never been to TX not ever had TX BBQ. Shack you did us proud!

Heading to the spots in West Texas takes some logistical planning, patience, and lots of gas for the drive from the Texas Gulf Coast. On our recent BBQ quest to West Texas, my family stopped at one our favorite spots (top 5), Evie Mae's BBQ in Woolworth. This was our third time to visit Evie Mae's. I'm a Texas Trinity traditionalist. So we always order the brisket, ribs, and sausage. The brisket was very good - great bark, nice smoke ring, and well seasoned. I will say the brisket was a bit drier than I remember but I will chalk that up to us arriving thirty minutes before they closed. Ribs were excellent - smokey sweet and moist. We got the Jalapeño Cheese sausage which was a wonderfully spicy and cheesy with a a nice snap to the casing. We also had the Cheesy Grits and Potato Salad which were wonderful. The pint of cheesy grits were completely gone. We also picked up a couple of the homemade cakes to complement our leftovers. Oh, did I mention the free beer too? That always accentuates the BBQ experience. The restaurant is still as warm and inviting as before. Parking is easy. The staff took good care of us and were still in good spirits before closing. The first time we were there we got to meet Mallory Armis who sold us on the Green Chile cheesy grits and we aren't big fans of grits. We look forward to there grits. While we briefly saw Mallory this time she was busy. Hoping to meet Armis next time we're back. Hat's off to the pitmasters and staff at Evie Mae's BBQ. We'll be back.

We got the Rejino's Regular sausage which was deliciously juicy and had a nice snap to the casing. We also had the Pulled Pork Sliders and the Catfish purely because they looked amazing as we were waiting in line. Sliders were tasty. The Catfish is worth it and amazing value - large filet, super crispy crust that is well seasoned (slight hint of cayenne), moist and flaky fish. Hands down - the best Catfish we all agreed. We were feeling a bit carnivore-ish, but we broke down and had to try the Green Chile Cream Corn. Get it, you won't be disappointed. The restaurant is quaint, warm, and inviting. However, this small town…read moreboasts a Texas Monthly Top 50 barbecue spot, so if you are like me and trying to get stamps on the passport, you inevitably have to make the drive. Funnily enough, it is both the northernmost and westernmost spot on the list, so everywhere after this is quite literally downhill from here. We drove in on a Friday and arrived just before 1:30 pm, which is a sin at most barbecue joints. Rejino, however, only had a small line and still a full menu while being pretty busy. They were excited to add a stamp to my book and even gave me a free Rejino sticker to take with me. I love places that go the extra step. One thing I want to note right away is how affordable their barbecue is compared to most places. The Texas Trinity fed both my girlfriend and me and came in around forty dollars, with half pounds of ribs and brisket, a sausage link, and a side. My girlfriend and I ordered their Texas Trinity, two sides, and a dessert. I will share my thoughts on everything below. Brisket: It was well done. There was good flavor throughout and the slices were nicely cut. The balance between the lean and fatty parts was exactly what you would expect and on par with others on the list. Pork Ribs: My girlfriend loves a pork rib and she really enjoyed these. In terms of tenderness and candying, they landed right in the middle. The meat did not fall off the bone, but it was still excellent. The bark was well seasoned. Jalapeño Cheese Sausage: Compared to most joints, their sausages were shorter but thicker. The jalapeños actually had a crunch, which was surprising. I really enjoyed this sausage. Baked Potato Casserole: I thought this was a great side and a solid portion for five dollars. Bacon White Cheddar Mac and Cheese: My girlfriend said this was her favorite style of mac and cheese, extremely creamy. I thought it was good, but I let her eat most of it since she liked it so much. Broccoli Cheddar Cornbread: Unlike most barbecue joints, the cornbread here was free. I really liked the hints of cheese and the broccoli pieces mixed throughout. M&Ms Brownie: I sometimes get dessert at a barbecue joint. When I am with my girlfriend, that percentage jumps to always. Here we ordered a massive M&Ms fudge brownie. The M&Ms were intentionally stale, so instead of being crunchy they were chewy on top of the brownie. It reminded me of a Cosmic Brownie. In Texas, there are smoke cathedrals everywhere for those willing to look, and places like Rejino make stops in small towns completely worth it. RIYL: top notch barbecue that also happens to be pretty affordable
