If you don't mind waiting a few extra minutes for some high-quality chicken, then Kokio is well worth your time and money. I've gotten both wings and chicken tenders and both have been cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffle fries and onion rings have also been cooked extremely well. This is definitely one of my favorite spots in Lubbock. read more

If a restaurant is operating off the back of a single man, you know it's going to be some of the best food known to man. Kokio Chicken is an underrated gem in Lubbock. As we walked in, there were 3 staff members: a lady working the register, the older Korean gentleman (the presumed heart of the restaurant), and another cook. Once we placed the order, the 2 men in the back sat up and went to the fryers immediately to lock in. Fried chicken takes its time and unlike a chain like Popeyes and KFC who can have legs, breasts, and wings ready at the drop of a hat, Kokio only makes what's needed per order. This means there is a longer wait for the food. As we sat and waited for our food, multiple to-go and presumed DoorDash drivers came in and had a similar wait to us. The time seemed to crawl as we waited, but once the order came out and I took my first bite, all was well. I ordered their Wings Plate which came with 5 wings, fries, and some coleslaw. I upgraded my fries to waffle fries for the vibes and they were worthwhile. For the wings, I got them tossed in the Honey Bee sauce. They were smooth and sweet while having a slight kick. The crisp on the chicken was insane and had an earth shattering rumble as you took a bite. It's one of those meals you go silent after your first bite and don't say anything until your last. It's one of those meals you are willing to wait over an hour for. It's one of those meals you use 20 napkins and wash your hands twice before leaving the restaurant. It's one of those meals that you dream about that night. It's one of those meals you... RIYL: A crunch at a 5.2 on the Richter scale read more

Great fresh fried chicken. Order by phone or be patient to wait for your fried at the time of order chicken. It's not fast food. Is good food. Pieces are big and well seasoned. Staff is friendly and read more

Chicken amazing. Doesn't matter how long it takes to get it. It's worth the wait. Sauces are great. HIGHLY recommend!

This is my go-to fried chicken place! The chicken is always juicy, flavorful, and crispy! Highly recommend and I look forward to my next visit. read more

I got take out and it was made fresh and hot. The people here are very nice. I got the waffle fries, half chicken with the hot spicy seasoning, 10 wings, half garlic half buffalo. The wings are the biggest wings ever. 10 is plenty to share for two people. Half chicken order is enough for 3 maybe even 4. The waffle fries were the most bland thing in the world, need some seasonings or even just a pinch of salt. The garlic flavor isn't very good but I enjoyed the buffalo and the hot spicy. The half chicken was a bit too greasy and has a thick batter but its flavor is pretty solid. Lots of food for the price, you can probably share. read more

Amazing chicken! This is the fried chicken recipe I've always wanted to experience, fried to be super crispy on the outside but still juicy meat inside and that doesn't get soggy. I visited two days in a row to try out several menu items and figure out my fave. The original crispy is the best! I placed my order to go and after transporting to my home, my tenders were still very crispy. A+ for that. The tenders were large so I only ate one and a few waffle fries for lunch. Hours later, I had the rest for my dinner and they were still crispy after sitting in the fridge for several hours. Another A+! While I loved the chicken tenders, the waffle fries were less than impressive. Not crispy, no seasoning that I could taste, very bland. I won't get those ever again. read more

Kokio Chicken - Great chicken tenders - Korean Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

We had tenders and drumsticks. The breading is crunchy and delicious. The chicken is cooked to order and takes about 15 minutes but the difference in quality is worth the wait. The location is very clean and the service was friendly. Portions were huge and prices reasonable. read more

Solid chicken place. I'm normally a Popeyes girlie but this chicken absolutely blew me away with the sauces! My partner had the "Korean Spicy" heat level and trust me it'll kick your butt if you aren't used to it lol he says Kimchi is spicy! read more

Food is very good. Served very hot and fresh. Service was a little slow but will be forgiven when you get your food hot. I mean hot fresh out of the oil, stove or oven. Ambiance could get a face lift. read more

We love Kokio chicken. It is our go to spot for amazing authentic Korean Fried chicken. They have other Korean dishes that are really great too. The owners are very kind and wonderful people. The restaurant is always clean. If you want crappy food done in under 5 minutes and terrible customer service, then stay away from here. 5+ read more

First time I went in to try this place, what hit me right was how clean it was! Staff explained how they cooked everything fresh. Young man at the counter suggested what I should order for my wife and I. When I got it home we both were pleased and have gone back many times. I read a review awhile back, about a customer who wrote a very bad review after arriving at closing time. He complained that they had shut down the kitchen and everyone was fixing to leave. All I could say he was not raised correctly that common sense and matters are what matters the most in life. Unfortunately they seem to outnumber the rest of us read more

The best chicken in Lubbock. I always order for pickup so I don't have to wait but the girl at the front is always very nice and it's a super easy pick up. I always get the tenders and there's always a couple extra in there. Definitely a hidden gem in my opinion there's nothing else like it! Super crispy and very flavorful read more

people kept telling me this was the best place to get asian style fried chicken in Lubbock and wow were they right! it does take a minute to get your food (15 to 20 min typically) but every plate is made fresh to order and tastes super high quality. the portions are really big and sometimes they do give you extra chicken so be warned lol. it's too good to throw away though so i usually just end up eating chicken for two meals. it's a pretty unassuming divey spot but spotless on the inside. the owners are so so sweet and friendly. highly recommend the wings with Korean special sauce, it's pretty spicy for Lubbock taste buds but omgosh is it amazing. fries are crispy and perfect as well. read more

I come to Lubbock often to visit family and Kokio's is always on my list to visit! The wings and boneless wings are always made perfect and the flavors are amazing! Would absolutely recommend! read more

Would definitely return, best chicken I've had in awhile! 10/10 would recommend to family and friends.

I finally decided to go inside rather than sit in the car waiting for the food. The location is very simple, neat, and clean. The customer service was great. The food is AMAZING! We greatly enjoy the chicken! We have tried many flavors and I have no doubt that you can't go wrong. The fries are sooo good, well, at least to me they are. I suggest you give it a try, I believe it will be worth it.:))) read more

Kokio Chicken - Fries, mozzarella sticks, variety of chicken. - Korean Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

Wow! We ordered onion rings as an appetizer. They were fantastic: huge portion, large rings, crispy on the outside and very tasty. Followed them up with an order of honey drumsticks and rice. So very good. And an equally good order of buffalo wings. The crispy outside of the chicken was so complementary to the moist interior. Best fried chicken ever! read more

The best fried chicken I've ever had. The batter was light, the chicken was very tender and juicy, and the sauce selection is fantastic. The staff is extremely friendly. Food was very good, but it was so hot in the restaurant you couldn't even enjoy the food. We told management, but they really didn't do anything until the end. Felt like the sauce size was very small to the portion of chicken that you get. People were very nice and it was very clean and inviting. read more

On my most recent visit to Lubbock, my son found us this new spot to try. Excitement kicked in as I was excited to get some good KFC in Lubbock of all places. The restaurant was easy to find and we saw the place was pretty packed. The cashier was super friendly and gave us her best recommendations. If you have had Korean fried chicken before, you know there will be a wait for the food. The crunchy texture is achieved by a double fry. We knew that, so the wait time was not an issue for us. I ordered the drumstick plate with a side of fries and salad (coleslaw). Their fountain drink were out, but they did have bottled drinks for purchase. Our food came out and we dug right in. The drumsticks had to be the biggest I have ever seen. I wasn't sure if 3 legs would fill me up but I barely made it through 2. They were fried to perfection with the crispy exterior, but nice and juicy inside. I got the hot crispy flavor which I was told was pretty spicy. Though the chicken was beautifully made, the flavors were lacking. I could faintly taste any flavor and it had a slight heat. My spice tolerance is high, so that may explain that. My son got the crispy strips and he said they were good. Both our fries and waffle fries were your basic run of the mill frozen fries with absolutely no seasoning on them. We also ordered fried dumplings which were very tasty. Overall, this isn't a bad spot by any means. My flavor choices might have been wrong this time around. I know they put out a good product by how packed and busy this place was on a random weeknight. I will probably give them another chance at some point. read more

Food was truly good!! I wanted to hear the crunch that Fried chicken in Korea is known for and wow was it worth it. Had the tenders with slaw and French fries. I haven't even mentioned the fries which were so darn good. Everything was freshly made so it took approximately 15 minutes but the aroma, the crispness of everything was not to be doubted. And the dak kang jung sauce for dipping had the right amount of sweet and spicy I will come back for. read more

Great all around! I stopped by and was warmly greeted and the dining area was very clean and inviting. I asked the staff for recommendations and ordered 10 wings with half original crispy batter and half the Korean special sauce, the fried dumplings, waffle fries, and the Korean mix coffee. He warned me while I ordered that they make all their chicken fresh and it takes 15-20 minutes to cook. Appropriated the heads up and was ready to wait for some fresh fried chicken. It was worth it! The dumplings came out with a delicious dumpling sauce and the fries were hot and crispy. The wings were incredible! The original recipe was super crispy, the meat tender and juicy, and were great on their own without sauce. The Korean special sauce was killer, started off sweet then comes in with a bit of heat at the end. I'd stop in just for the coffee. $1.99 for a large coffee with a bit of sweetener and creamy milk. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm craving wings. read more

I highly encourage every person who wants really good fried chicken to check this place out. I will acknowledge that the chicken takes around 15 to 25 minutes, but it's for sure worth it. It Good Chicken with the steam rice and stream dumplings and planning going next month to get more Korean chicken

Went in just before 6:00pm on a Wednesday with my family, four of us placed an order. It took about 45 minutes for our food to be cooked. The order was wrong - wrong flavor on one of the bowls, didn't customize the spice level on the other bowls like he said he would, and wrong French fries and side on a combo. The veggies in the bowls are basic Normandy mix, not anything Korean or even vaguely oriental. The coleslaw was bland. And the whole thing was expensive! Almost twice what an average meal for four costs. Very disappointing experience. I do not recommend trying Kokio. read more

Kokio Chicken - Had to pay for Waffle fries separate it's not a meal which is fine but pricey & these are the 1/2 Chicken Tenders regular flavor - Korean Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

As a California native, I've had my fair share of Korean chicken. During my time at USC in Los Angeles, my friends and I frequented Koreatown's many fried chicken / chimaek places and I've had many fun memories there. That's why it's amazing that there's finally a real Korean fried chicken place in Lubbock. That crispy rice breading is truly something else, and this place does not get the credit it deserves. Even the boneless chicken is phenomenal. Make sure to ask for radishes on the side to soak up the grease from the chicken and fries!! Try the tteokboki too-- in two variations: honey and spicy rice cakes. We need more authentic Korean/Japanese/Chinese places here in Lubbock, and this certainly foots the bill. Try this-- I don't think you'll be disappointed. My girlfriend is from LA and tried this place: she also approves! read more

The service was exceptional. The man who took my order ( I think he was a fill in) was very kind, and took the time to help me decide on an item. The food was nice and crunchy. I ordered from Uber Eats so it was even more pricier than in person. Because it was my first time I had no idea what I was ordering. I got 5 legs and an order of 10 wings. The legs were huge and other than the 'Hot Crispy' taste, they didn't taste seasoned at all. Also not as crispy as I was expecting. The wings were 'Extra Spicy' and that was a huge mistake. Not only were they extra spicy, they had regular and black sesame seeds on them. I was also not expecting that. If I had known I would not have gotten that flavor, for both reasons. I spent $17.99 on both orders and would not say they were worth the price. I won't say they were nasty tasting, just none of the flavor other comments had led me to believe. If you are someone who is used to 'very' flavored food throughout its entirety and not just the sauce, then be cautious if you've never tried this place before. Everyone has different tastes so I can only say I probably will not order again unless it's in person so maybe I can get tips from the people who make the food. read more

Excellent chicken. Everything is cooked fresh so it may take an extra 5 to 10 minutes but it is well worth the wait.

Checked online to see the closing time and it showed 8:30pm. Went in about 8:22pm and the counter attendant said the kitchen closed at 8:15 because orders take 15 min to cook. ‍ In my opinion, they should cook 15 minutes past the closing time that is shown online and on the door to show they really want business and for good customer service. read more
