I know this is probably the worst photo I've posted on here but this meal just simply isn't "pretty", especially after I already portioned it out into my squash colored bowl. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and plain fried rice and a couple spring rolls. This is probably one of the most "basic" meals someone could possibly order but it was what I was craving. I don't eat very much in one sitting and this was ABSOLUTELY PLENTY of food. Super portion size. Those spring rolls... are **SOOOO** good. I'm a sucker for spring rolls anyway but these will easily be a shoe-in for my next order. (Likely that'll be the WHOLE order since this entree took me 3 meals to eat ) Now... the way they have their business set up right now is... like a food truck except it's in a strip mall. Don't expect to go inside. They've got a little table outside a makeshift window they've situated in the doorway where you grab some of the to-go items yourself. We had to call them to tell them we were there to pick up our order after standing at the door like some kind of hungry animal for 5 minutes. Just chilling. On the sidewalk. Like it was the depot destrict at 2am. IYKYK It still doesn't take away from the food - we're all just going through some really weird supply chain inflation post covid BS and people are trying to stay afloat. I get that. I hope whatever they choose to do, it helps them keep going. Because having those spring rolls right up the road is a BONUS for me. And obviously I want to see people thrive; I don't want to lose one more mom and pop because of all this unnecessary madness. I'm always wary of ordering Chinese because no one can beat my mom's cooking in my heart. Buttt my only culinary skill is the eating part and she hasn't been able to visit for a while, so my stomach has been sorely lacking in quality food from the homeland. This place seemed like it had the best reviews, I'm too lazy to drive/they deliver, and my cravings hit hard today - Chef Lin's it was! Ordered over the phone and they said my food would be ready in 15min (promising). Phone to door time was actually 30min, so be prepared for a little wait. Tip: $15 card minimum! No biggie, just ordered myself extra for lunch tomorrow too. Didn't come across any language problems but maybe I'm used to it? Delivery guy was super nice! I got the combination Mongolian beef, along with sesame chicken (my weakness). It came with a heaping serving of fried rice, a container of white rice, 4 little egg rolls, and 2 fortune cookies. HUGE portions for the price - all this food will probably last me 3 meals. My container of sesame chicken was loaded up to the lid. They didn't overdo it on the sauce and the chicken itself was tender and perfect. Good flavoring on the Mongolian beef while not being oversalted. However, there were either a ton of bell peppers & onions or not enough beef, so I'll probably get something else next time. Fried rice was just right on the soy sauce. Egg rolls could be crispier, but the filling was tasty and when you give me 4 of those, I'm a pretty happy camper. This is not in any way a personal review of owners/employees of Chef Lin's. But the food delivered to me tonight from Chef Lin's was the poorest quality pepper steak and rice I've ever tasted. Even the smell was just terrible as the driver handed me the bag of food at my door step. I feel sorry for the young lady that delivered this to me and had to endure the terrible smell in her car. I've have only written 2 bad reviews of food. If this was my business I would want to know when customers get really UN edible food. If you love this place that's great. This is my favorite quick Chinese I've food place in town. Great portions and friendly service. I got their orange chicken the first time I went and went back the next day. Their chicken isn't overly breaded as most quick Chinese places are and usually where you lack protein and are filled with rice, this place balances very well. Best place for Chinese here in Lubbock in my opinion. We usually get General Tso chicken combo with half lo mein and fried rice. The spring rolls are the best and we usually order extra even though 4 come with each combo. Also get the Singapore Chow mai fun and hot and sour soup on a regular basis and never disappointed. I have been going to this hidden gem for 4 years and would only recommend one dish and ONE dish only, the JALAPENO CHICKEN. It is probably the best Chinese dish here in Lubbock and is worth the drive over there. This is more of a takeout joint only. Since this place put a flyer on my apartment door, I've ordered from here twice and picked up my food. I have eaten the cashew chicken twice and my boyfriend had some shrimp dish. My favorite part of this place has to be the portions. My to-go box is FULL each time I order, and my meal comes with cashew chicken (enough to last me two meals), fried rice, and about 8 spring rolls for $7. Bocce balls, this place is effin amazing! I read the reviews and was going to give it a try, and when my coworker said it was his favorite place, that sealed it. I ordered the moo goo gai pan, as that is the first dish I try in any new Chinese place. It was so good, hot and fresh. The fried rice was not greasy at all, and had peas, carrots and egg.
