Bangkok Thai Restaurant - Tom Yum & sliced beef salad. - Thai Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

Greeting from two Houston Foodies! In town visiting family, we were looking for some dinner. Restaurant is small but clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered Beef Pad Thai and Beef & Vegetables with rice. Unfortunately, our dishes weren't to our liking. Noodles were spaghetti and needed more seasoning and vegetables (not just cabbage). My husband ate my dish of beef and vegetables because he was extremely hungry. However, I would encourage dinners with a more American taste buds to give it try. read more

We ordered to go this time but have also eaten in the restaurant with our family. We love the pad Thai and beef noodle soup especially, but have had many great dishes here over the years. They are consistently fresh and delicious! read more

I ordered takeout this week and everything was delicious! Our order included the hot and sour soup, pad woon sen, and medium chicken pad Thai. The servings were huge, the flavors were great, the food was hot, and the service was incredibly friendly. As mentioned in other reviews, the prices are very fair. Years ago, I lived in an apartment close by and ate at Bangkok about once a month. I remember the food wasn't always 5 star quality (sometimes it would be 3-4 stars instead), but it's always good. I'll be adding this restaurant back to my Lubbock favorites list. Added perk: Thai Pepper is closed on the weekends, but Bangkok is not! read more

Another local restaurant that deserves our patronage. The family that run the place are very nice and accommodate special requests. The food is really good with a unique twist only a independent can really get right. Highly recommended and get for lots of options, fresh and good folks read more

Prices are not bad AT ALL for how much food costs. Server was nice and greeted me when I started my order. Restaurant is a bit of a hole in the wall, music is nice volume, booths are clean. I ordered the yum won sen. Nice lime and cilantro flavor and medium is definitely not watered down in heat and spice. You can order mild, medium, or hot. I wasn't impressed with the Bangkok rolls, not worth the money. All in all, not a bad first trip here. Will order something different next time I'm in the area for lunch. read more

Some of the dishes here are amazing. Number 25 or what's in the photo, was soo good I had to go back to get it. I would've given this place a 5 star but I got some fried rice from here and I literally couldn't eat it. I'd say stick to the Thai stuff and it should be great. Service was nice, drive through is a little small so if you have a big truck maybe just dine in. The actually restaurant doesn't look the greatest, but the food more than makes up for it read more

Food was better than my previous Thai restaurant I enjoyed. This is my number one now. Service was well maintained and on par. I could think of a better service. The lay out was congruent with the atmosphere. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Lubbock! Don't expect fancy, but very low key family own traditional Thai place. The food was amazing! very fresh, tasty and well portioned. We shared the chicken noodle soup and pad Thai and took some home. It's self service, you order from the counter and they will bring it to the table. Very affordable for the quality and quantity of the food. The place is on the small side, it has about 4 booth and 5 or so tables, so it gets busy pretty easily. Highly recommended for those looking for authentic Thai food. read more

Best Thai food in town, hands down! 11/10! I would recommend the Pad Thai (mild) if you want noodles or the Tom Kha Gai soup! Must try read more

I genuinely have never had such a dry and flavorless pad Thai. I normally don't leave reviews. I've been here before and eaten their pad see ew and was pretty tasty so I'm baffled that there's no taste, the noodles are dry, and the only get a vague taste of "pad Thai" as if the flavor was an after thought. I'm so disappointed. I wish I would've had a better experience this time around. Hoping it's just a one time thing. read more

My go to for Thai. I've been eating there practically from day 1. I have NEVER gotten a bad dish and I have had practically everything on their menu at least once. Love the Bangkok special, Shrimp salad, and Pad Thai. All of my kids love it also. (Some are very picky. Definitely give it a try. read more

This is one of our faves, Love the Bangkok Special! It's the best thing in the menu but I have tried lots of other dishes and have never been disappointed read more

It wasn't the nicest looking place but it always seemed packed so we gave it a try. We got 2 different entrees and the Bangkok rolls. It was honestly nothing spectacular. Prices were cheap for the amount of food. I went to the bathroom before we left and that was my biggest mistake and what probably sealed my fate of never returning. Bathroom was filthy and smelled AWFUL, considering it's in the kitchen was concerning. I gagged the whole time I was in there and we had to leave the restaurant. Food is ok but I won't be going back read more

Large amounts of food but a little expensive for soup. Service was great and photos to see what you were ordering really helped.

Ordered the Teriyaki chicken with noodles. The chicken looked boiled with no sauce. It was completely flavorless. read more

My daughters and I have loved Bangkok since they were tiny littles, and it's still a staple for us if we order out. The quality and taste of food has never wavered in the 10 years we have been ordering food for pickup. Everything is simply delicious, and anyways hot, fresh and consistently perfect. We have our favorites, but everything we have tried is amazing and the variety is huge. The Thai tea is sinfully good. Staff has always been kind, prompt, and courteous. We usually call an order in and pickup at the drive through window, and it's super convenient and kinda funny bc the quality of food is a million times better than any fast food. The dining room feels homey and quaint, like your grandma's kitchen, and the food the tiny kitchen produces is always perfect. Bangkok is awesome. So happy to have such a wonderful and worldly restaurant in lubbock. read more

We've eaten here twice. Love their beef soup. Last time , I had fried rice, veggies and chicken. This dish was bland, and I have had much better. The spring rolls are also done right, and I would recommend them. The portions are large with plenty of meat , but in the chicken fried rice, more vegetables would have been nice. read more

Would give 10 stars if possible. Checks all the boxes. Delicious food. Lovely team. I love everything about this place!

Pleasantly surprised! Don't let the appearance stop you. The hubby ordered a beef noodle soup, I had the cashew chicken and we ordered spring rolls and chicken satay for appetizers. The food was served quickly and was hot and delicious. This is the best Thai food in Lubbock. Great service, tasty food and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for authentic Thai cuisine read more

Best Pad Thai in town ! Exceptional flavor and also convenient and affordable. The service is also very friendly

Food is super good and quick and cheap. I've gone before and after Covid and still, it's great Thai food. The inside isn't beautiful, but the food is authentic and, again, great. If you order through their drive through you will order and then drive around the building if there are other cars in the line (generally there will be), so don't be too surprised if they ask you to circle around! read more

For what they charge, which is about 8 bucks a meal, the food was pretty good. Don't go if you're expecting the best Asian food you've had all year. If you're looking for comfort food it's not bad. I had the Pad Thai, which was pretty mediocre overall but with good flavor. The restaurant isn't very clean, though. Good: food was hot, flavor was good, prices are low Bad: the place was dirty, like, a bit scary. Noodles were too soft. read more

I placed a to go order during lunch. On the phone they said 15 minutes and it that was about right. The inside of the place is nice, decorated with what I'm assuming to be Thai art and decorum. I ordered the beef panag with medium heat, which according to their menu is one of their most popular items. The menu online and in person list all the ingredients which makes it easier to watch out for allergies as it is common in Thai food for nuts to be present. Honestly, I did a Google search before hand and was expecting the beef pang to be somewhat of a thick curry. The consistency leaned more towards soup though. As for the heat, they literally just chopped, what looks like, jalapeños and kept the seeds inside. In my opinion, I would have preferred the spice to be added another way. If there's wasn't any seeds or jalapeño parts on my current bite or spoon then it wouldn't be spice. Also, injecting random seeds with make the spice over powering. All though the spice was not throughout the dish, the flavor was still there. I would recommend this place but not necessarily this meal item. read more

This place is decent. I'm from Seattle, which has a huge Asian population so I'm used to a little higher quality recipes. But for only $8, it was pretty good. I ordered a vegetarian pad Thai at the hottest level, but there were few veggies and it was not very spicy. They put my order in a bag and the sauce spilled out everywhere, which was annoying. All in all, I'd probably go again, but still look for a better place. read more
