I love rice but it is something easily missed by most. The rice was granular and al dente, whole grains that held the texture so well but was still moist to absorb the sauces and spices. Delicious! The gravy from the squid salad was so savory that I could not let it go to waste, so I drizzled it over the fried rice. And wow! It enhanced the flavor of the basil fried rice even more! Fantastic! The ambience reminds me of some other dive restaurants. I've been to where it's all about the food. I love the covered parking where the business was built on a property that was probably intended for something else. The food came out very hot and for the price, I was thoroughly impressed. I will be returning soon. This place is a hidden gym in Lubbock and though it may be off the beaten trail for some people, it's worth everything. Good thai food in a humble atmosphere! We had the fried tofu appetizer, which was sweet with the sauce and crunchy. The yellow curry was decently good, with potatoes and carrots and soft chicken. Although the food was great, my primary gripe was with the location/presentation. The location is a bit out of the way and not in the best neighborhood, and the whole time we were there, there was a baby crying in the kitchen. I understand it's probably family owned and I appreciate that, but the decor was certainly a bit spartan at best. To top it off, there was a promotion-like rewards program showing how many points/dollars you have to spend to get a (likely fake) coach wallet and other similar prizes. It felt tacky and unnecessary-- given the food is great, I feel the owners could invest in better staffing, decor, and atmosphere. read more

They consistently serve the best Thai food in Lubbock! My food is hot, fresh, and flavorful! The atmosphere is calm and cheerful. The prices are really good too! Right now they have a lunch special going on where you can get an entrée with an eggroll and a drink for $13. I especially like their hot and sour soup and their spring rolls. Yum! read more

Disappointing takeout at a former favorite. I ordered Drunken Noodles with Chicken and Pad See Ewe with tofu. Both were super oily, lacking substantial vegetables and worse of all, completely lacking some much-needed flavor. The Pad See Ewe had regular broccoli sliced to look like Chinese Broccoli. Had good reviews on Yelp so decided to try while my husband and I were in Lubbock to see Journey. It did not disappoint. I got the fresh spring rolls with peanut butter sauce and the Tom Yum. Absolutely delicious and authentic. Felt very much like a home cooked meal. The Tom Yum had a great flavor and sour just how I like it. My husband got the red curry and the egg rolls. Also delicious. The red curry has a kick, so be aware, but it did not overpower the flavors. All were served with a side of white rice. Topped it off with a Thai tea, which was he best way to end our meal. Although Lubbock doesn't offer a wide variety of cuisines, there is an abundance of Thai restaurants. Many of the Thai restaurants here, such as Thai Pepper and Thai Thai, have very similar menus and flavor profiles. It isn't bad but it gets boring after a while. Thai Kitchen, on the other hand, offers many different dishes that the other Thai restaurants don't, and all of there dishes are delicious. My favorite appetizers are the Fried Tofu and the Fish Cakes. The Fried Tofu is cheap and the portion size is huge. It is very fresh and crispy but the tofu on the inside is still juicy. The sweet chili sauce goes really well with it. The Fish Cakes are nicely seasoned and have a good seafood flavor without being too fishy, and the pickled vegetables add a nice brightness to the dish. My favorite entrees are the Crab Fried Rice, the Omelettes, and all of the noodle dishes. Their Crab Fried Rice has real crab, no imitation crab, but because of this, they only have it sometimes. It is delicious though. The omelette are basically stir fried meats and vegetables underneath a blanket of egg. It is seasoned very well and comes with a delicious sauce. The noodle dishes are super good also. You have to go and try them to understand how good they are. The prices are cheap, the portions are big, and the food is good. Ok, let's get something straight. If you are game to go to a really sketchy part of town for crappy takeout service but Thai food that is a) delicious and b) cheap, it's a must go. Overhead a conversation about this place and thought "what the hell?" About two blocks out I noticed the extreme sketchiness of this part of town. And when I drove up it looked like an old drive-up converted to crack house. Charming. I had called ahead. My order was ready. The lady who took the cash was angry at the world! I asked for extra peanut sauce... dagger eyes. I asked about hot sauce... "no hot sauce!" When I asked about the dozen bottles of hot sauce behind her she said b"bottle only". After this I expected the food to be crap. But it was great!!! Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp, delicious. Two summer rolls, very fresh. And cheap... $13. I really enjoyed this place when it first opened. It's kind of located in a weird area. But theres always plenty of parking available. The waitress that works now, seems to not want to be there more than half the time. And the food quality isn't as good as it use to be. The staff is never really more then 3 people, at least in FOH, i'm unsure of the back. I found Thai Kitchen to be a refreshing taste. The aromatic seasoning, with just a bit of spice...and the vegetables are cooked perfectly. Presentation was nice too and the inside of the restaurant was cute and comfortable. They've even got little typical Asian goodies (bags, coin purses, etc) for sale at the counter. I've had better rice, but overall everything was great. Oh and the Penang Curry was excellent. I think the owner need to post an updated menu; the prices were just .50 cent different. read more

Our family's go-to for Thai food. It's off the beaten path and looks a little sketch when you approach the parking lot, but we have always felt safe here. The owners are incredibly nice and always give great service. I always order pad Thai because it's my favorite. The portions are generous and they don't hold back on the protein. I always have leftovers and my husband is always too full to clean off my plate. The Thai tea is really good. If you've never tried it, it's a great sweet treat. Nothing fancy. I really hate to write a bad review for a small business but this has to be one of the worst places I've eaten. I should have known when we walked in. The atmosphere alone wasn't inviting at all. We ordered quite a bit of different things but the pad Thai was by far the worst I've ever had. It tasted like vinegar. We ordered spring rolls and the peanut sauce was pure peanuts butter. As I was sitting there trying to take a second bite of food a cockroach crawled on my arm. We kindly asked for to go boxes and left without eating more than two bites.
