If you're looking for some of the best authentic curry I've had in the US, look no further. It is simply amazing. Do be warned, if you tell them to make your food hot, they are not messing around. Very strange Thai restaurant. You walk in and walk up to a enclosed window to order. It's kinda cafeteria style. My son had the fried rice which was good, but honestly how can you mess up fried rice. I had the red curry, it was watery, like no coconut milk at all. The taste was off also. No Thai basil and barely any chicken or bamboo. Worst pad Thai I have ever had. I could only take a couple bites before I had to stop. I opened the lid to my container and was hit in the face with a rotten fish smell. After mustering the courage to take a bite a decision I regretted immediately. I convinced myself it was the smell not the taste so I took another bite forcing myself to swallow. This place has really tasty Pad See Ew. I went with some friends for my first visit and ordered the Pad See Ew for myself. They ordered the drunken noodles and the chicken Pad Thai. We tried all three dishes and as a table we decided we liked the food in this order: Pad Thai, then Pad See Ew, then Drunken Noodles. Personally I have been back to Thai Kitchen 3 days in a two week period because of the enticing flavors. I've actually been back to just order the Pad See Ew each of my visits. One thing I will caution is that it is not a lot of food. I have gotten to-go twice and both times could easily see the bottom of the to-go container after one or two bites. We looked around for a restaurant around our hotel. We like Thai food but don't have a place locally to eat. So often, we look for a Thai restaurant around us. Between the good Yelp reviews and The nearness to our hotel, we decided to give this place a try. One of us got the shrimp pad thai, one the chicken pad Thai, one the drunken noodles, and one the beef pad see ew. We are a family with two teenagers so the portions were great for our small family. Both of my teenagers came out filled up and even had a tiny bit left over. There were no complaints at all about taste oh, they were very prompt, and efficient. they checked up on us three or four times as we ate, even bringing us lovely chopsticks when we asked. I have been meaning to make the journey out to this place for many months now. After reading the reviews I really wanted to try it. I started off by ordering the Thai tea which is a perfect pair when eating spicy food. I then ordered the beef noodle soup spicy, as I wasn't feeling well. The waiter brought these white chips which were surprisingly delicious. I really wish I knew what they were because they were so tasty. The beef noodle soup had such a flavorful broth & so much meat that I had meat leftover even after I had eaten all of the noodles. It was spicy but not too spicy. My boyfriend got fried rice & it was tasty as well. I'd highly recommend this place. The service is great, attentive & the staff is ever so friendly. Decided to check this place out while traveling with family (it was on our route). The place is in a somewhat deserted area, a lot of auto shops and a few bars around, all closed on a Sunday. The parking area is pretty spacious. They have a banner in the front promoting their business, so it wont be hard to miss. Came in; pretty big eating area, somewhat old building, but still clean. We were greeted and given a table right away. Our waiter came and took our drink order and gave us a basket of what seemed like crunchy rice cakes. My kids liked them, so thats a plus! My husband ordered the Chicken & Vegetable Penang Curry, I myself ordered the Spicy Beef-Noddle plate with a Thai Iced Tea & my kids got the Chicken Fried Rice plate. All came out quickly, didn't wait too long. It was well presented and smelled delicious! My kids loved their Chicken Fried Rice, ate it all! My Beef-Noodle plate was amazing! It had thick-wide noddles, a lot of pieces of beef, carrots, broccoli & what seemed like spinach all delicious! Now, my Husband's dish looked and smelled good, but he said it wasn't spicy at all and tasted very watered down. He has had his fair share of Thai food and has never had watered down curry. Was a little disappointed with his. Now, the reason for my four star review is due to my husband's curry dish & the somewhat mediocre customer service we received. They somewhat forgot about us once the food was delivered. No refills on our water or questions in regards to our food (it was only us & another customer eating.) Yesss!! So I tried Thai Kitchen today and it was absolutely delicious and fulfilling. The waitress was super friendly as was the gentleman who I believe might be a manager but I'm not sure. I was given what I assume are fish chips and they tasted good to me. I ordered some fried shrimp with chili sauce as my appetizer and that was really good. I ordered the padd thai and it was pretty good! It had chicken and shrimp as any traditional padd thai dish has. My only wish is that they offered a regular, medium or hot option as well just for variety. I tried the Thai tea, absolutely a must as I sipped it up within two seconds! I also liked that they give you bottled water and a cold can of soda instead of using a fountain. It's so nice on the inside and like the other reviews said, don't let the outside deter you from checking it out! Hopefully the pictures I took will do it justice of how good the food was. As a vegetarian in Texas, finding solid vegetarian food can be hard. Thai Kitchen has really great food for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The menu options are very flexible, so adding vegetables and tofu to my entrees of drunken noodle and red curry was easy. The portion sizes are good, the prices very reasonable and the taste is surprisingly great. The location is a little sketchy but the food has a authentic taste, coming from someone who has had a lot of Thai cuisine in the past. Thai Kitchen has table service, which could be a plus or minus depending on your preference! We looked through the menu and there were a few different selections than what you would find at the other big names in town, so it seemed quite promising. We ordered 2 orders of the spring rolls with peanut sauce (by accident, but I'm not complaining), and they were amazing. They taste fresh, the shrimp tastes great, and the veggies were crunchy. Plus that peanut sauce was phenomenal. I got the beef noodle soup, the item I get a lot at Bangkok, and my husband got drunken noodles, something he was really excited they have given other Thai restaurants don't serve that. My soup was good, but it tasted like a pho with a much more pronounced ginger and clove broth. The meat was not enjoyable in the soup, but the noodles were great. My husband's drunken noodles had a pretty good flavor, but didn't love that it was made with the really fat & thick noodles. It somewhat threw off the vibe of the sauce's flavor. This is my second visit in... Hmmm... 2 DAYS! As an Asian, finding Asian food in Lubbock is hard. Even harder for great Asian food. I've tried other two Thai restaurants last week but Thai Kitchen is really great and authentic. I tried pad see ew and larb, both with beef, yesterday. The taste simply brought me back to Thailand. And today, I have coconut chicken soup and pad Thai. The soup, as others have suggested, is delicious:) Their service is amazing too! Very friendly! By the way, the shrimp chips you got as you sit down, those are deliciously evil. The waitress kindly gives me another basket (3 chips) after I finish my first one. I can honestly say that this is as good as the Thai Gourmet in Houston, if not better. I do have to say though, the outside appearance of the restaurant looks a bit shady. Hands down the BEST Thai restaurant in Lubbock! I am very picky with Thai food because I've had amazing experiences in Dallas, where I'm from. In the past three years, I have tried every Thai place in Lubbock and have been extremely disappointed with every place. No restaurant had the authentic style of food that I am used to. When Thai Kitchen opened up, I tried out the Pad Thai and loved it! The taste was very similar to the authentic restaurants I have been to in Dallas. Chose this place because of the outstanding ratings. I have eaten at many Thai restaurants across the country and overseas so I expect the bare no frills ambiance. I ordered Panang Curry chicken and veggies and asked for Thai hot. When my bowl came out I had to ask the server if this was in fact a curry plate bs a red curry soup plate. She assured me that it was a curry plate. I have had more consistency in a bowl of chicken broth than I did in this "curry" dish. I took a few bites and realized that there was absolutely no spice in the dish. A called a different server over and again asked if this was curry vs soup and he said it was. I asked if they could make it Thai spicy and he took the plate away and returned it in less than a minute. It was spicer not by much but you can tell when spice is added at the end vs cooked with it which would make it spicier. I asked one more time if it was curry and he said yes. When I went to pay I asked about the consistency and he tried to use the fact that I shouldn't have added veggies to the curry as they make it more runny........I did t argue, paid and left. Our new favorite place in Lubbock! Small hidden gem hesitantly sharing this review because then everyone will know. We had Pad Thai with Chicken and shrimp the was a wonderful amount of vegetables and a fresh peanut sauce with I'm pretty sure was a hint of lemongrass added..so delish. We also had drunken noodles with shrimp the sauce had just enough kick to get your attention without being overpowering. It was a beef based sauce that just covered the flat noodles.
