Came here on a recommendation to specifically get the boba drinks. Upon entering the restaurant asked for a menu and once decided took a few minutes to be assisted for our order. $14 for two drinks, got a traditional milk tea with boba and a mango milk tea with lychee popins. Had to have been the longest time for making the drinks. We were there for probably a hot 10-15 min. They were busy with take away orders so maybe that's why it took so long. Who knows. I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. I got the beef pho (pho dac biet ) and tried the chicken pho and also one of their milk boba drinks. The veggies were sparse which scared me but the chili oil was a very nice surprise. Not common for pho places but I enjoyed the flavor of it. The boba was also very surprisingly good (better than some other boba chains I've tried in town). There is a ton of broth. There is a bit of... depth missing but overall it's pretty solid. My friend did a create your own bowl and said there wasn't enough toppings/ meat for him so just to put that out there. By Far the best pho we've had so far in Texas. We were sat fast and we had a group of 8 people. Everythin was so smooth. From the time we walked in, to drinks and appetizers to the pho coming out. (This review is from November 20th, 2023) It's weird that there's a really good pho place in Lubbock. This is on par with places that I've had in Houston! Our Vietnamese friends swear by this place. The pho special broth had just the right amount of meat flavor and that herby goodness that makes you feel refreshed after a long day. Brisket was phenomenal as well, and lots of sriracha sauce on the side to complement it. We also tried both the banh mi pork and beef, and both were very good (while being about 5-6 bucks each!) The only thing we didn't get to try was the Bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodle soup) but it was sold out, and apparently it gets sold out extremely quickly when it comes back in stock! Hopefully we can try this next time and post an update to this review. But tl;dr, amazing restaurant! read more

I'm from Orange County, CA and have been working for months in a small city in NM where there's no Vietnamese food. I drove all the way to Lubbock just to get some Viet food and was not disappointed. I wanted Bun Bo Hue, but was told that they were sold out for the day. I settled for the Pho Dac Biet. I usually don't order Pho unless if I'm really craving it, but it was surprisedly really good! The broth was aromatic. There was lots of meat. The noodle to soup ratio was perfect. My food came out within 3 minutes of the server taking my order. I was definitely impressed by such a small town. The restaurant was busy when I came in. All the booths were taken. Everything was clean. I had a young blonde lady as my server and she was excellent. She was friendly and always had a big smile. I had a pho with rare beef and fatty brisket. I also had eggrolls. I really wanted fresh spring rolls, but this is the first time in my life and hundreds of Vietnamese places that I have been that did not have fresh rolls. I saw them in posts on Yelp so assumed they had them, however, have it be known that they DO NOT. The pho was slightly above average. The broth was not very complex. A little beefy and salty, but not a deep rich complex flavor like I was hoping for. The meat and vegetables seemed fresh, however. The eggrolls were pretty good. Served with bottled Mae Ploy for dipping. The staff was very friendly and prompt and the place seemed pretty clean. I might return if I find myself back in the area for another reason, but I don't think I would travel there just to have their pho. read more

Food. As a Vietnam vet, strangely we didn't eat Vietnamese food in the boonies. While living in Dallas I learned to like Pho (or phuh as it's pronounced) etc. My daughter is on a short tour of Vietnam, mainly around Hanoi and we've been talking about her food choices, so I got a yen ( no pun intended, but why not?) for Bahn Mi which I'd never tried even though I used to hit the Vietnamese restaurants in Richardson when I lived there. Prelude over. Ordered the chicken bahn mi and spring rolls. The bahn mi was quite simple with flavored grilled chicken (Hoisin style sweet flavor)shredded carrots, cilantro, sliced cucumber, and a couple of slices of fresh jalapeño on a sesame seed bun, er no that's another place another time, no it was on a 6 inch hoagie bun. The sandwich was good and tasty and reasonably priced. The spring roll was well made, a little too much noodle, but again very fresh and tasty with a peanut flavored dipping sauce. They have a lot of exotic style drinks on the menu, I was hoping for salted caramel Vietnamese coffee my daughter told me about getting on her trip to Hanoi. Not seeing that, we just had water. The service was very good and our waitress (ok probably supposed to say wait staff or some other nonsense, but that's certainly not very descriptive, so don't get too distracted) was very attentive. Ambiance, Asian restaurant schtick, what can you say about red paper lanterns (actually I don't recall if I saw the requisite red paper lanterns). The benches were a little too far back from the table so I felt like I was sitting Downton Abby English proper style. And the seats seemed a little worn. Left feeling like we'd gotten a good healthy meal at reasonable price with good courteous service during an off peak time. Rated 4 cause 5 is absolute perfection and that's as rare as I am pretending to be an actual restaurant critic. read more

I'm posting this review on both Google and Yelp, as I'm not sure which platform the restaurant uses. 1. Our experience with our server was extremely disappointing. She was unprofessional, inattentive, and dismissive throughout our visit. I requested chili oil several times, but she kept bringing only a very small amount. It wasn't until the end of the meal--after about a ten-minute wait--that she finally provided a reasonable portion. After we paid, we asked for a receipt, but she walked away, and we had to ask another server to assist us instead. 2. The fried rice was very underwhelming--it was essentially plain white rice with no egg or vegetables, even though we paid extra for it. Additionally, when I received the raw beef for my pho, the pieces were extremely small, almost like scraps from the bottom of a container. The pho itself is good, but I've noticed they tend to provide larger portions when you order takeout compared to dining in. 3. We were also charged for chili oil and another item that we didn't order. Thankfully, the owner resolved the issue promptly and refunded us in cash, which is the only reason this review is two stars instead of one. Overall, while the pho tastes great, the service and food quality during this visit were unacceptable for the price. I appreciate the owner addressing the billing issue, but I hope management takes steps to improve both customer service and consistency in food preparation. read more

First time here as we were just driving through Lubbock. Reviews looked good so we chose this place. Our table ordered the Pho Chicken, Beef Pho, and the Special. Price for the portion was average. They give you more meat than noodles. Flavors were there, and the meat on the chicken pho was tender. I also did not have to season my Pho, the broth was good enough. We also ordered egg rolls and Thai iced tea which was good. The disappointment was the chicken fried rice. Since we're on the road we wanted another dish to eat for the drive. We were not expecting this kind of fried rice. I have never seen this version (pictured) so we asked if this was our order. The cook and server came out and explained that they don't mix their meat with the rice. So if not fried rice, why put it on the menu as that? Anyhow, the order was rice with vegetables ( the cook said they don't put eggs in their rice) and a side of flavored chicken. We didn't want to argue, so we took it as is. Flavor is lacking. I was spoiled with Pho Van (Austin) and was skeptical that Lubbock might have something on par. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed my Pho Bo (Phở" means rice noodles and "bò" means beef. A bowl of beef phở consists of soft slippery noodles in a hearty, beefy yet fragrant broth and beef slices of your choice.) I was getting my nails done and my Nail Master Johnny (#VeniceNails) suggested that I try out this new place. I was spoiled with Pho Van (Austin) and would have been skeptical had Johnny not suggested it. I was seated quickly and placed my order. Food and hot tea arrived promptly. From the moment I tasted the Pho Tao (Rare Beef Pho Bo), I knew that they are making their own bone broth. The Pho was not overly salty, the meat was tender and the portion was good. Homemade bone broth...made AT the restaurant is the best. Frozen, jarred or in a carton does not hold a candle to homemade bone broth. Pros: Hot Chili Paste and Oil are on the table & homemade bone broth. Cons: Service is SLOW after you get your food. No one checked on me and I had to flag down the server for my check. Egg rolls suck. But at the end of the day I will come back. Pho was as spot on as I am probably going to find (outside of a private home) in the HUB. read more

Great food and some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. I've only had Pho twice in my life and both times were at District 1, but I definitely recommend it. We LOVE Pho and recently relocated to Lubbock from Phoenix. After trying a couple of Pho places that were just OK, we found this place and it will definitely be our regular spot. Came here on a busy Saturday night with some friends. We got sat pretty quickly, but it did take our server a while to greet us. They were out of a few menu items which was pretty disappointing. I ended up getting the shrimp pho. Sodas are the canned ones. It was very good, and a generous portion. This was my second visit here, the first time i came I had gotten the Pho Dat Biet, both were so flavorful and I really enjoyed them.
