I love West Straws! I'm so glad that Lubbock has a small privately owned boba shop. Of course I enjoy some of the corporate ones, but it's nice to support local businesses, and West Straws makes it easy to do so. Their teas are so fresh and delicious, they have a HUGE menu including specialty drinks so if you like to try new ones, you'll have a lot to choose from, and everything I've had from them has been great. Their boba is ALWAYS fresh, which can't be said for some of the chain shops at times. They have a cute little indoor area, it's a bit narrow but they've always had plenty of tables when I went. I've studied there twice and the atmosphere was really good for that, but it's also nice for people coming to chat with friends. They have a couch / comfy seating area as well, so you have seating options. Writing this review is making me want to visit right now. Highly recommend!! The Hong Kong milk tea was delicious, as well as the royal milk tea and thai tea - I'm looking forward to my next visit so I can try something else, which I'm sure I'll love! read more

This is the first boba place I have encountered that offers both great boba drinks and the type of atmosphere where you'd want to meet up with a friend or date and stay awhile. Nothing in Austin or the other places I have encountered compare. They offer a great variety of boba drinks including several with earl grey which I confess is my weakness. On a recent visit I had a Lavender London Fog with Boba and my son had the Mai Tai (non alcoholic) with Boba. The boba was not the best i have had but it was pretty solid and I loved it in my London Fog. This was such a relaxing spot that we decided to stay and play a round of chess while we enjoyed our drinks. In addition to several tables with chess boards they also have several other good casual games including Blokus. The tables are cute and the chairs are comfortable and there is even a small couch if you are lucky enough to snag it. I'd definately return here the next time I find myself in Lubbock. read more

My boyfriend and I were in search of a place to enjoy a sweet/tasty beverage and we stumbled upon West Straw's Boba Tea establishment. Their tapioca perals are soft and chewy which helps empower any beverage you choose from. We dislike crowded and noisy places but West Straw's was the perfect spot for us! It usually only attracts customers that pop in, grab there drink, and leave. Their establishment also provides chess, checkers, pop music, and other fun games! Boba shops aren't easy to find when pondering in Lubbock. There's probably two good ones on the top of my head but west straws definitely is one of them! Super cute and great options to choose from. Amazing selection of flavors, super friendly staff, and a gorgeous little location. My personal favorite tea is anything with taro in it, but you can really mix and match anything! They have slushes, milk teas, regular teas, smoothies, and even macarons. This is my go to spot for boba. I visit Lubbock almost 2-3 times a year, and I HAVE to stop here every time. I still remember the first time I had a drink from here, and all the flavors going off while the delicious boba added the perfect touch. My wife ordered the Vietnamese Coffee Boba Tea (she loves it) and my sons ordered the Thai Tea Boba Tea (it was delicious!), and a Watermelon Slush (son wasn't a fan of the Watermelon, and it was too sweet--tasting like bubble gum, he'll have to try a milk tea boba tea next time). was in town visiting for work and this was just down the street from my hotel which is right across the street from Texas Tech very happy to have it so close by. It was very tasty and the combinations available were great. I got my standard Almond Milk Tea with boba. Very well done. My only complaint was how the counter was set up. It's a little odd. You have to get on a stool to pay and order your drink and pick it up. I'm super short and it was a little difficult for me to do it all. Not a bad place but too expensive for how it tastes . The drinks are pretty decent but the macaroons aren't made from scratch or even heated up to room temp. They tasted like they were straight from the freezer and ordered from Amazon before hand. Drinks are 7/10 nothing to crazy about them. Macaroons are 2/10 for being frozen and tasteless . I love bubble tea!!! They have jasmine milk tea which I believe happy bubble tea did not which is my favorite. I always get either honey dew milk tea or jasmine milk tea with lychee jelly and bobba. I liked the music they were playing, staff was nice, bubble tea was expensive but I assume it's shipped in and it is a higher rent place than happy. I was really excited to try this place because I am obsessed with not only bobas but with milk tea, I was surprised to see that they don't see milk tea but they had a royal tea, it was good but it was really sweet. I had bobas added to it and they were horrible the worst boba I have ever had. They have no flavor and they just instantly crumbled in my mouth, not a very pleasant texture at all. Was debating between 3 or 4 stars but I ended up as a 4 bc it was overall better than just ok. I got the royal milk tea with boba. The milk tea was yummier than expected, a little sweeter than I'd like it to be, but it tasted good overall. Friend got jasmine milk tea. She liked it a lot! I tried it and it wasn't as sweet as mine- just a perfect combo of jasmine and milk tea. Boyfriend got strawberry black tea. As the milk tea, it was too sweet for him. Maybe add a little more tea next time? When some ice melted, it actually ended up tasting jussssst right. The boba was honestly a little disappointing considering that it was super soft. Tooooo soft. Not too chewy nor did it have a distinctive flavor but apparently, it was super soft because it was just freshly made! No idea but overall a great experience there. As a picky boba addict, I'm glad I gave West Straws multiple tries, because I think I finally found my drink here! I tried the royal milk tea the first few times, but there's way too much creamer in it. I'm not a fan of really sweet teas/smoothies either, so I settled on the lavender black tea this time. Don't expect something subtle because the lavender is a punch in the face - but the taste settles really nicely with the black tea. (Fellow non-sweet fans, another good one is the taro slush. Pretty sure you can adjust sweetness level for a few of the other drinks as well!) One drawback is that the boba amount seems to be pretty hit or miss based on who makes your drink, because it can sometimes barely be enough to cover the bottom of the cup. If they started standardizing the number of scoops, it would really make a difference. Texture is consistently good though! Pricing is pretty standard for Lubbock boba ($5.03 for a regular with boba add-in). The space is clean, well lit and has a good amount of seating/outlets if you decide to take your work with you. Service has always been quick and the employees are nice and helpful. There are definitely things to improve on, but so far the best boba place here. read more

This place recently came under new management but their products are just as good as ever. We usually get the Tropical Madness with Lychee Green Tea and Lychee jelly and the Thai Milk Green Tea with extra Boba. They also sell macaroons and other products that are a nice treat to oneself without being too unhealthy for you. The workers are always polite knowledgeable and if they make a (rare) mistake with your order then they will replace it for free.
