Really good food and fun vibe!! Was surprised by the amount of people in there and the music!

It's tough to recommend this place because I ordered Uber eats to my hotel here in Lubbock and I really had high expectations. I ordered a brisket sandwich, brisket, beans, and coleslaw via Uber eats it asked me if I wanted onions, pickles, and barbecue sauce and I said yes to all When I got my order I had pickles and onions on my sandwich which I'd rather not be on the sandwich and no barbecue sauce at all, but there was three ketchup packets. I have no idea what I was supposed to do with these ketchup packets, but obviously I'm not putting on my brisket sandwich. That being said, the brisket was OK beans no brisket and the beans and the coleslaw was pretty basic closely. Wow really surprised overall on the food. The cream corn was delicious and I enjoyed the potato salad too. Burnt ends were awesome and really flavorful. The sausage was good but not really my style. Overall the meal was great and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Really nice little restaurant in the HEB. read more

Came here to have a bite to eat for lunch, we ordered the pulled pork sandwich. All I can say is that sandwich was the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever eaten. The staff were super friendly, and the restaurant was clean. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great bbq food. read more

Went to eat Saturday with the wife, I was disappointed. The dining area was very dirty. I had to clean my own table because 90% of them were filthy. I even asked the staff for a rag and cleaner and they gave it to me! So I cleaned the table but the floors were so dirty too. I kept thinking I can imagine how bad the kitchen looks. I've been to several other True Texan locations around the State; but this one has been my LEAST Favorite. Presentation looked good, but the overall taste of the BBQ wasn't great. Sliced brisket tasted pretty good, but the rub tasted off. And the brisket cuts were not consistent. Some thick. Some thin. Fatty slices were Really Fatty. And lean slices were dry. Barbecue Chicken was totally Lame. Tasted like nothing. The skin was chewy and could've been smoked a little longer. read more

I explained that I need to stay away from glutamate, which is typically in seasoned salt; that HEB prepared foods usually have it to an egregious degree but Central Market food is good. Nice high schooler appeared to understand and advised the beef has just salt and pepper for a rub: but then they didn't have any beef, so she advised turkey so that I could scrape the seasoned salt off. I ordered baked potato with turkey, after being sure that the sour cream was real. I got chopped turkey, and went back to get sliced. But still, they were not actually slices but more like wiggly strips; no way to scrape seasoning off! So, I improvised and got hot water to wash it. So much came off that the bowl of hot water looked like soup. Still, I had to wipe seasoning off with a napkin. But that revealed turkey was pretty cheap turkey. The potato was small, with fake, sweet sour cream, a little cheap cheese, and some green squares that probably answer to onions, but unverified. The greens were more seasoned salt than they were greens. One bite told me !dangerous! -- and gross tasting! Three bites of coleslaw: same result! How could anyone ever cook this badly? Tastes terrible. But worse, is dangerous for health - certainly to me and probably to everyone. MSG is not good! Another high school girl came over and was just chipperly annoying. Offered to give me my money back, but did not. Apparently, the staff was unsupervised on Saturday evening. At least they weren't combative and rude -- but they sure were not helpful. My conclusion is the HEB takes low quality food and thinks crapping it up with way way way too much seasoned salt will fool people. I was too tired to leave and go somewhere else. I should have. My digestive system reminded me for days. That is not glutamate; that is some other problem. I don't think this place is safe to eat at; however, at least it doesn't smell when you walk in the door. read more

Would never go there again. Once was enough. If I did it would have to be in another town. Never here they steal your account information. Be warned! Thankfully my bank helped me. The manager had proof - still well if it happened we would not want an employee to do that, really! WOW! The employee added their extra tip which was greater than the amount of the total on bill. Got a chopped brisket sandwich and banana pudding. They gave me sweet bbq sauce instead of the spicy that I asked for. The brisket was smothered in bbq sauce and way too sweet. It tasted like something cheap from a fast food joint or the frozen isle section. I didn't even expect it to have any bbq sauce on it especially because I ordered it on the side and from my experience real bbq joints don't add the bbq sauce on the sandwiches. They probably soaked it in the sauce to mask the dry and tough meat but that didn't even work. The banana pudding was more enjoyable than the sandwich and that's not saying much at all. There was no pudding in it, it was literally just whipped cream with banana slices and those cookies that usually come with banana pudding. 100% unsatisfied. Got it delivered through Uber eats for lunch at work and I had to work the rest of the shift hungry and disappointed. read more

The mobile app was super friendly and easy to use. Even got a text that my order was ready to be picked up. When I got there, there was only one staff up front taking care of a couple with lots of questions. After the wait, they could not locate my food so I had to wait. Back in the truck, I checked the order and there were no sauces, no bread, no condiments. Well, I sure wasn't going back and waiting in line again. Besides I've got bread, Q sauce and pickles at home. The meat was not too bad. The lean brisket was sorta lean and the fatty brisket sure was fatty! I should have just opted for the lean since it already had enough fat. The sausage was ok too but other than salt, I really didn't taste much spiciness, peppery or as such. I've had way better BBQ in Lubbock and around Texas, but for the price, it wasn't too bad, but it's definitely is not true Texas BBQ tho. read more

They sure do have some good bbq! I love that they have different specials once in a while. Service varies depending on who is at the register. Some are super friendly and I've only had one that wasn't. Good service more than not. I love their brisket beans. The dining area is huge and comfortable. It's nice to be able to grab a good meal before shopping. read more

The ribs I tried were perfectly cooked the sliced brisket sandwich was excellent... however the 4 stars were because they neglected to include my BBQ sauce when I opened the containers at home. Double checking orders could help correct that issue. read more

I really dislike negative reviews but this place cracks me up. For instance, sir we don't have chopped brisket just sliced. Lol! Ok every other bbq joint in Texas would fix that with a knife in about 30 seconds or less. Then, sir we are out of onion. Bahahahaha they are on the adjacent wall of produce in H-E-B. REALLY NO ONION? Oh I'm not finished, had to ask for sauce because their warmers were empty and this was 2 hrs before closing. I tried it for the first time yesterday. It was a Sunday so it was busy after the church crowd. They were out of a few thing but what good BBQ place ain't on a Sunday I have and will always say Killen's BBQ in Pearland is the absolute best I've ever tasted and I would be willing to say this tasted identical and if not it was a close close second! I have had bbq from this restaurant for the couple of years they have been opened. It has generally been good. However tonight it was the worst bbq I have eaten. I got a 2 meat plate with sliced brisket and sliced Turkey. Both meats were over dry so much so they would not even cut with a knife. I basically pulled the meat apart and dipped it in sauce and then chewed hard. The sides, potato salad and mac were tasteless. My dads ribs were sauced up to cover up their bland taste. I doubt I ever go back. Either they have gone downhill in 2 years or they need different cooks. read more

If by "True Texas BBQ" you mean a cafeteria in a tiny ISD two hours away from civilization that happens to be in Texas, and buys brisket off the Sysco truck, that might be accurate. $45 got us a solid 6 Oz of that, a link of sausage rolled up in paper that you could pour the grease out of, two sad little slices of sawdust turkey, and 1/3 cup of green beans cooked for two weeks judging by their appearance. Oh, and a box full of a bag's worth of lettuce. They were generous with that part. H‑E‑B should be ashamed to call this true Texas BBQ. You know when you're a kid and you go to eat at a friend's house after school and you get excited that their mom is making "BBQ chicken"? Then you get there and learn their mom thinks BBQ chicken means throwing some chicken breasts in the crock pot with cheap Kraft BBQ sauce that has a pound of sugar in it and cooking the holy hell out of it? That's the kind of BBQ H‑E‑B is offering up. And, like somebody else already said, we asked for chopped brisket and were told they only had sliced. When asked if they could chop it up for a sandwich, we were told no they could not. Oh and the price is different is the reason they gave. When asked if they really run a kitchen without knives, the blank stare really said it all. Real problem solvers here. They were out of chicken because they said a catering order got them all. If I went to an event held by an employer that brought this in for catering, I'd quit my job. If I went to a friend's party that brought this in for catering, I'd never speak to them again. If you have never had a chance to eat that bbq you buy in a tub from sams nows your chance . I had the bbq brisket nachos and I wish I hadn't. they say they come with queso , brisket, sour cream, pico , guacamole . I got chips ,queso , brisket, and onion chives. When I asked about the rest they first said they didn't have any of it . Then A rude employee tells me that the sign above is from another restaurant and they don't make the nachos like that at this restaurant????? Today, my daughter found a long blonde hair in her sweet and smoky buffalo wings. We had all just started eating and all of us were unable to finish our food because it made us sick at her stomach. I wasn't going to say anything, but another young lady had walked right by our table so I quietly told her there was a hair in our food. I wasn't expecting anything from it but at least an apology. I asked if there was a blonde girl who worked there and she said no. It didn't hit me when she said no, but the girl who delivered our food came out again and I realized she was a blonde! It was at least a 12 inch hair laying across her entire plate of wings. Absolutely disgusting! Like I said, I wouldn't have even written to review if someone would have apologized to us or made it right. She did nothing! I'll never return. The worst part to me, it was my daughter's 13th birthday today and she wanted to celebrate by trying the barbecue that we pass by every time we get groceries. read more
