We've gotten take out from here a couple of times. Both times, the food was average. Edible but nothing we'd crave again. We recently switched gears and ate here twice in person. It's was terrific both times. The steak fingers are not quite as good as the Dixie Maid over in Paducah, but they are far above ones I've had any place else. My family enjoyed their meals, as well. I think they had cheeseburgers, a ham club, and a Philly sandwich. The service is great. Friendly. Personable. What you'd expect from a small town non-chain. It's got a good atmosphere. And I think every single song playing in the background was a 10. We hope to go back in person again. read more

This is good home cooking stuff. You can't go wrong with fish if it's still being prepared as it was about 5 months ago. It's to die for. This place is a wonderful place in my hometown. The food is generous in portion and rich in taste. From the moment you walk in and find yourself a seat you feel welcome and like you are at a reunion of your closest kin. The loaded burrito and stacked enchiladas are amazing. The sauce for them both homemade as is the chili. So tasty and a delightful explosion of flavors in your mouth. The decor is very West Texas and home. It sets the tone for the meal. This place is all about America, God, and the love of fellows. It makes the food only taste so much better. This is a good small town diner. My 4 star is relative to location (Levelland, TX). The salad bar has excellent ranch and the lettuce and toppings are nice and cold. The blueberry muffin tray that comes around is amazing. A hint of vanilla in these muffins will make your taste buds feel like they are at 6-Flags. The waitresses are sweet as can be! Good chicken fried steak, nice salad and hot bar, and very friendly service. Pretty cool setting too, with a hometown, blue collar vibe.

Very average, not bad but nothing to write about good except maybe the sweet iced tea. Chicken fried steak was over cooked but mainly the gravy had no flavor at all. The mushroom burger was too thick and again no flavor. We won't come back unless there is no other place to go in this small town. read more

Stopped here on the way through town to a Friday night football game. The special was all-you-can-eat catfish. It was excellent. Great salad bar. Hot bar was also excellent. The hushpuppies and mini blueberry muffins were fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. Nicknames were great. We will be back! read more

I am visiting from New Mexico and, with a friend who lives in Levelland, made our first visit to the 509 Grill yesterday. The food was good, reasonably priced and plentiful. I ordered the catfish, which is all you can eat on Fridays, and had a side-dish of pan-fried potatoes with onions. The meal comes with a salad bar, which includes hot pinto beans, whole kernel corn and hushpuppies. The tea was also good and fresh, and the waitress brought fresh blueberry muffins. Although it was all-you-can eat, one serving of the plentiful catfish was more than we could eat, and they allowed us to take the leftovers home. Beyond the good food, what made the meal was the attentive and friendly service from the waitress and owner. At checkout, we chatted with the owner for several minutes. She and the waitress were friendly, attentive and entertaining. As a bonus, the restrooms are rustic with a unique style, including a curtain separating the "throne"--and funny plaques on the wall (at least in the men's room). The 509 Grill is casual, family-friendly, down-home Southern cooking which you will feel comfortable in if you don't like having to get dressed up for a meal. I recommend it for reasonably priced good food in a casual atmosphere. read more

My wife and I were in this restaurant awhile back and the Waitress and owner were complaining about how bad the hamburger meat was and was hoping to get something better with their next order. We paid our bill and left without comment. We were back in the restaurant this past week and ordered a club sandwich which came out with a hamburger patty instead of the ham and turkey normally on this type sandwich. I didn't eat it all as my wife and I were discussing that it was rather dry. The owner comes up and begins to tell us how we are never satisfied when we come in and starts taking the sandwich apart and eating it right in front of us. Claims it is very juicy and we have nothing to complain about. We left only saying that we also have a choice and that is to never come back. Have Never been treated like this ever in a restaurant and certainly advise others to stay away for this place as there is no telling when you'll be the next victim. Secondly this is the only restaurant I know of that charges extra for processing a debit card and also appears to add in their tip with out telling you they are doing it. When we got home and added up our bill based on what we had ordered there was about $3 more above the tax that had been added. Please beware of this place as it seems they can't make it without some shady dealings going on. read more

I came in with my girlfriend and sat down ordered a water and a soda. Looked at the menu and didint want anything. The blonde female waiter then looked us in the face and laughed and said well wasted 10 min of my time when we asked to pay for the drinks. We were maybe there 3 min tops and I will never be going back again. Took my self down to idk burgers and ice cream and had an excellent time cook was great and waiter was amazing read more
