OVERALL The Outlaw Grill in Hobbs, NM, is a place I have heard many good things about, but never tried. This is a great place to meet up with a friend for lunch. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4.5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 3 PARKING Parking is free and ample. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This small restaurant is located in the same building as Kountry Korral. Just like the name says, it has outlaw memorabilia scattered throughout. The seating arrangements are mainly for small groups or couples. THE GRUB They have a pretty nice selection of items on their menu. I was anticipating a large protein-filled dinner later in the evening, so I opted for the New Mexican salad ($16.29). I highly recommend this salad with jalapeño Ranch dressing... it was fresh and loaded with so many wonderful colors and flavors: fresh greens, tomato, onion, shredded cheese, croutons, tortilla chips, pico de gallo, and guacomole. My kiddos begged me to bring them spaghetti for our Friday lunch date at school. You can order this kid's menu item with meat sauce, plain sauce, or with meatballs. My daughters both loved their meatballs. Each plate came out to $11.97 and did not come with anything else - no bread, side salad, or drink. Kind of steep if you ask me. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB They definitely have a decent kid's menu, however, I didn't get any photos of it. Next time! SERVICE Very friendly over the phone. Quick to assist in person. The outlaw has a quaint clean environment- servers came quickly and answered all my questions well Salsa was $4 and queso $5.79 but it was odd I had to pay for both - most places if you buy the queso it comes with the salsa and for me it wasn't worth $10 to get both. While queso is a solid 10/10 the chips were half stale and half rubbery almost as if they were fried left in grease and then sat around all day - if you folded a chip it bent it didnt snap - I've honestly never experienced that in 30 years of eating queso Now on to the reason it's a five star joint the burger is the best burger I've eaten in my life. And I've had burgers all over the United States. I got the smoking barrel thick patty covered in pepper jack cheese, bacon, spicy jalapeños and remoulade sauce somebody kiss the chef !!!! It's that good. The bun is so thick and soft and sweet. The sweetest thing to touch my lips in years. I just wish the burger came with a small cup of sauce both to dip the burger and the onion rings since the bun absorbed a lot of sauce before I finished While I didn't have fries I can say without a doubt the onion rings are worth an upgrade - golden fried to sweet perfection and tasted amazing with the remoulade that dripped off of my burger Who would I be if I didn't try the Mac and cheese. so refreshing to see a unique menu! im from georgia and wish i was a local just because of this place! we went two days back to back to try some new stuff and reorder the pasta al limone. the flavors aren't your typical olive garden fake stuff!!! i see lots of people leaving horrible reviews about items being out of stock but ive been to plenty of chain/high end places and they were out of stock of something soooo... the servers are young and it can get pretty busy so be easy on my girls they are trying their best and will answer any questions! the food is worth it. trust me. dont forget to stop by the gift shop the ladies are so sweet and they have stuff for everyone. read more

The building is non-descript and easily missed but well worth the stop. The interior is classic cafe style with wooden chairs and glass top tables. Service was attentive and prompt at all times and always friendly. The menu is small but IMO that's a good thing! Stick to what you know and keep your menu simple to get the orders out promptly. I ordered the ribeye medium rare with garlic parm shrimp, asparagus, and a house salad /ranch. The salad was romaine and not iceberg so I was very happy with that. The salad was amply sized and had just enough ranch but not drowned in it. Croutons were a bit tough but I'm doing keto and tend to not eat them. The wait for the main was low (maybe 10-15 minutes) and gave me time to enjoy the salad without having to rush. The steak was cooked to order but was slightly cooler than I would have liked. I suspect there is a fan in the kitchen that could account for that. It was well seasoned and stood on its on. Very good! The shrimp was swimming in the garlic parm sauce but that did not detract from the dish but did give me something to did the asparagus in! I roast asparagus with garlic and love the flavor. The asparagus was as expected and had good grill marks. Overall, this is a must stop if in the area! Casual dining with great food! And, if you like pasta, while I didn't have it the dishes looked well sized and presented! Recommended! read more

The place does not have comfortable seating. They don't serve any bread and butter with your meal or dipping sauce with the shrimp. Didn't get a choice of dressing on the salad. No chives for the baked potato, they ran out. There was only 1 waitress on a Saturday early evening. On a positive note, the waitress was friendly. The steak was perfectly cooked for medium well and the coconut shrimp was wonderful. Great cook! The Music was good and it was easy to conversate as it wasn't too loud like Tex R.. You wouldn't know it from the outside but it is a restaurant. It is located next to a gift shop that is larger than the dining room. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is pretty good, the breading used on the fish and chicken strips was excellent. My wife got a grilled chicken salad, she said it was good but did not like that the dressing was applied for her. A definite no no!! The other negative I would have to say is it is very pricy and you do not get much for the cost. French fries are fairly cheap, however I received 16 fries with my fish and chips basket. The same was true for my daughters chicken strip basket. If you are going to charge high prices and make quality tasting food the easiest thing to do would be add more to the sides, the cheapest thing. Three small pieces of fish with 16 fries is not worth $14 no matter how good it is. So I will have to say I will not be coming back to this restaurant. The cost is just too much for what little you get and the quality and not that high. read more

Servers were nice and refilled drinks without being asked. Ordered the ribeye steak asked for rare got well done. They claim they are top notch on steaks but seems like the cook was amature. Pasta was over cooked. They have good burgers but this restaurant for the price you pay the quality isn't there. The server did try to make it right with the discount but she shouldn't have had to do this. Maybe they should rebrand and stick to burgers and fries. read more

I've been to this restaurant a few times while visiting Hobbs. The food is good enough, but not amazing. I must say that the waitresses were excellent. Anahi was my waitress and she was super attentive and made sure I was never in need of anything. I observed the other waitresses and they were just as active and attentive. Left an hour after arrival with no food and a snotty retort from the waitress. First time in over 10 years I left no tip. Wife and I went for our weekly lunch date. Upon arrival we stood around for 5 minutes waiting on the hostess. Once greeted she was polite and stated there would be a 10 minute wait and asked "is that ok". I asked "how long it would take for the food to come out once we ordered", since we'd have to leave in a little over an hour to get my wife back to work on time. I was told "20-30 minutes, we'll have it out in 20 after you order". Perfect will leave us plenty of time to eat, I thought. We were seated 20 minutes later, ordered as soon as we were sat in hopes of getting our food out in a decent time frame. 37 minutes later, 5m after asking for our food to go, we had to ask for a check with no food. We weren't rude and were just trying to get out to get my wife to work in time. It is now 1 hour after walking in and we have no food and still no check. Instead of getting our check our waitress rudely proclaims "well it wasn't too bad your order was only put in 31 minutes ago" not, as if to add insult to injury that we hadn't been able to eat. It had been 37 minutes since it was taken. Not "I'm sorry" but they alluded to it was our fault. During the time there waitresses were scarce, short and in personable. The hostess was polite and personable. If we'd been told more accurate times we could have had lunch elsewhere, instead we got to waste an hour and my wife got to go back to work on an empty stomach. Don't even consider if you don't have at least an hour and a half after walking in the door. Unfortunately I cannot state the quality of the food as after an hour of waiting we didn't get any. read more

Alicia was just phenomenal. My food was on point. Traveling from the east coast to Hobbs, NM I was looking forward to Jalapeños. This dish must have been 50,000 calories and worth every bite.
