I have driven by this place several times over the last 10 years and always noticed that the parking lot was full so I figured it must be OK, right? Actually went there and ate for the first time today and I have to give it four stars. Would've gotten five stars if everything was free, but that ain't gonna happen. These are excellent tender steaks with a huge huge salad bar and all the sides like baked potatoes are fries and an incredible reasonable prize. You can get a top sirloin for just $16 or a sirloin for two for $32. And to top it off, they even have ice cream soft serve out of a machine that you dispense for yourself. Yes this is not a fine dining experience but it's a hell of a good value for anybody looking for a good steak without dropping 50 bucks. And their own steer statue is out front so you can't miss it. This review is from December in 2023. Okay, so, the food here is pretty good. Had a chicken fried steak and it came with two sides, bread, and was delicious. My girlfriend had steak, and while she's very picky with steak, she was quite impressed with the seasoning and price of the ribeye. The amount of food for the money cannot be beat, and it's actually pretty darn good food. Now for the bad part- we waited in a line for about 40 minutes and someone threw up (it was not cleaned at all) and the smell of people in line was incredible. There were people coughing, the walls were sticky, I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting.. I mean I'm not expecting an atmosphere or decorum like Las Brisas for the money, but c'mon, can we have a bit more class? Can't blame the restaurant for certain humble clientele, though -- Just probably not where you want to take your gf for date night. Honestly it probably just means the prices are as good as they look. Just wish that someone cleaned up the stuff on the ground because it was gross. Regardless of this setback, the food was great, the servers were very efficient and kind, and the prices were excellent. Parking will be hard so make sure to account for getting there a bit early! Just based on food alone, this place is worth coming back to. We'll probably try again once the hype from the reopening is gone and people aren't flooding into it. read more

This is the first time we've been back since they re-opended. We got there about 6:45 and waited in line for about 45 minutes. We expected a long wait since they've only recently opened their doors again. If you're a local and wanting to come for a "good, but cheap steak", don't expect that anymore. The prices have raised to just about the same as any other steak place. Where you could get a sirloin for 2 for $21.00 after tax, is now $31.00 before tax. Ground sirloin went up to $13. I didn't see much difference in the remodeling, except the counter where you order and pay. The service was okay, it's a lot of young kids. The cashier seemed to be the only one in a good mood. It's set up like a fast food place, you place your order and pay for your food before you sit down, (it is seat yourself) We got the Ground sirloin, rancher sirloin, a belle sirloin and a cheese burger. Each meal comes with the salad bar buffet (except for the sandwiches) what use to be some great toast, is now just a roll. While eating the salad bar before our food came out, we found a hair in the macaroni salad, we let an employee know and all she did was bring us out a new salad plate. When our actual entrees came out, they were all good, except the belle, it was made well done instead of medium well. Regardless, we finished eating and left. Theres plenty of parking but if you can't find a spot in the restaurant parking lot, the pawn shop next door allows people to park there as well. read more

I was hoping to have a good steak while passing through Lubbock, this place turned out to be a disappointment. For one, the steaks are rather small but then the prices are fair. When I walked in, the first impression I got was that it's much like a cafeteria or a buffet. You pay and order at the counter, cards are accepted now, then you take your tray and number, grab a seat, hit the salad bar, then wait for your order. The salad bar was pretty unappealing with lots of low-quality ingredients. When my steak came, it proved to be undercooked and underseasoned, necessitating steak sauce. The butter in the baked potato tasted artificial. Though servers were friendly enough, you didn't have a single one to whom you could leave a tip. I noticed that most diners left nothing and there is no way to add a tip to the card when you pay. While it wasn't a terrible meal, it wasn't one that beckons me to return. My first time there and my last time. The cashier acted like she didn't want to speak. We ordered our steaks medium well and they came out bloody and alot of fat on the steak. Very little meat. I'm vision impaired and the restaurant was very dark. Several employees almost ran into me several times and never said a word. Service was awkward, the first server took our drink order, made the drinks, and then disappeared and left them sitting in front of the drink dispenser for about 10 minutes while we stared at them and considered just getting up and getting them ourselves; lo and behold she finally reappeared and brought them to the table. For an aging man needing high protein Bryan's continues to make points with me. I always order the ground sirloin well done with salad bar. Sometimes I get an ice cream cone but not always. Since the rebuild they are using a type of styrofoam cup instead of plastic but it's no biggie. Seems that I couldn't take a drink with me in the old days about 50 years ago. Dang, these guys have been in business for more than 50 years and Bryan is one of the original employees when it was Goodner's Steak House. It was a good decision to keep the restaurant active. A legacy in Lubbock history. The biggest fiberglass Hereford bovine in the area! Permanently set in concrete in the parking lot, it used to be mounted on a trailer. Pretty good place to eat, 10/10 for the price especially the salads bar. They have all the salads you'd want and even spaghetti. I got the rib eye and it was perfect. Little grill taste on the fat but still good. Especially for the price. Wasn't a huge fan of the waitress who sat me but every one else was nice. This place is basically a fast food steak restaurant. I would never recommend anyone looking for a real steak to eat here. Now if you just hungry and your choices are your local fast food joint or maybe a steak then you might want to stop. The unlimited salad bar has fake bacon bits and all of your normal fixings. So if you got kids they'll probably enjoy. All of your side items are also at the salad bar. The steaks that they serve seem like cheap cuts that they soak in a marinade for hours maybe even days. So don't expect to get your steak at the temperature you want because it's not going to show as most of the steaks have already started to break down with no pink left in the middle. It's better than your normal Piccadilly or all you can eat style restaurant but not much better. read more

This place has THE best ribeyes! They're always so moist, soft and delicious. Even the fat on the steak is good! My only recommendation is to go and eat during the hours of 11 AM to 4:30 PM. Why? A very young crowd, like 15 year olds, work during the evenings and most of them look pissed off at the world every day! And they play on their phones. Which leads me to my next point of this review: THEY SPLIT TIPS! My friends and I wanted to eat steak before leaving Lubbock, so we asked around for some good steakhouses and were recommended Bryan's Steaks. You really can't miss this steakhouse as the big cow outside of the restaurant will surely catch your attention. The prices for the steaks ARE really cheap, but I really think that that cheap price is reflected in the quality of the meat. Walking into the steakhouse, you'll see the interesting and really nice decorations that really give the steakhouse that authentic and homey feel. I saw a ton of locals and regular customers here, so that did reassure us that this place is quite popular. Ordering is done fast food style - wait in line until you reach the cashier. Place your order and you're given a number for the table and a plate for the salad bar. Steaks are all under $15. They also offer seafood or chicken. Each steak includes a baked potato, Texas toast, the unlimited salad bar, and use of the ice cream machine. Salad bar is quite extensive with a good number of choices. You can actually get full from just eating from the salad bar. They have the regular cold salads/noodles, vegetables like corn, cucumbers, even nachos, potato salad, etc. For the price, I do think the options are very good! So for the steak, I decided to go with the Southern Belle Sirloin ($9.10). My friend ordered the pricier ribeye while another friend tried the top sirloin. The ribeye did have the best taste among the three different steaks that we ordered - more tender than the sirloins. The belle sirloin wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't great either. I've had better and I've had worst, but for that $9.10 price and all that came with it - I'd say it was a really good deal. Judging the steak alone though, I don't think it was all that tasty and I probably would not return for the steak. Workers are super friendly and nice, going out of their way to really make you feel at home. None of us were in the mood for ice cream after we ate, so we weren't able to try their soft serve, but it seemed like other people really enjoyed it from what we saw. tl;dr - Overall, I'd give this place a solid 3 for the food quality alone, but because of the price and service, I'd give it a 3.5. The salad bar alone is awesome even though it can't compare to Souplantation. We definitely got a taste for how locals eat their steak, and I'm glad I got to try Bryan's out for myself. read more

This is my first ever review and I downloaded yelp specifically because of this place.. Easily the worst steak I've ever had. They say waygu melts in your mouth and that practically what this steak did. I might as well have been eating mashed potatoes with how mushy the steak was. I have been here once before, and it was great. Just went there Sunday for lunch, and it was not the same experience. I ordered the sirloin medium rare and when I got the steak it was well done. Waitress took it back, and they brought me back another steak, with an extra piece, that wasn't medium rare, but medium so I didn't mind much. The problem was that there was no crust, it was like a sweaty, slimy piece of gray steak. I feel they tried to make up for the fact by adding more food, which wasn't what I wanted. I just wanted a good steak. I want to give this place another go, and maybe get the ribeye this time, but I was very disappointed. read more
