... Got some to-go Thai food. My Thai generally surrounds around Tofu fried rice, and a curry rice. This time it was green curry. Green curry has the sprouts, kaffir like greens, and some veggies. They gave red peppers on the side to add for that more spicy kick. Ate the curry with the fried rice instead of the regular jasmine rice, liked that combination a little. Also got the Papaya salad, which is also so typical to Thai restaurants and one of my favorites. Its crunchy and just the right spice. V yummy. Service was fast and good. Restaurant is pretty well maintained.

Pretty authentic Lao food! I went with my Lao friend and tried a few of his favorite dishes. Overall, he said it was pretty authentic and the portion sizes were really good! Some of the flavors weren't as strong, but we found most of the dishes we ordered to be tasty. We got the Lao'd sausage, Nam khao, drunken noodles, and khao piak sen. Definitely order the Nam Khao and skip the Khao Piak Sen! - Lao'd sausage (3.8/5): The Lao'd sausage came with a side of sticky rice and some kind of spicy sauce. It was really fun to eat and flavorful. The sausage was fatty and had a good texture with chunky bits inside. I've tried Lao sausage before and found that others were more juicy and spicy, so I did find this one to be a bit lackluster in comparison. - Nam khao (crispy rice) (4.4/5): This was by far my favorite dish. The texture was amazing, it was filled with so many crispy pieces and paired really well with the crunchy lettuce. Flavor wise, I thought it was missing something because I heard it was suppose to be pretty sour and spicy, but after my friend asked for extra lime, it really brightened up the dish and I loved it! DEFINITELY ASK FOR LIME! - Drunken noodles (3.6/5): Pretty solid drunken noodles! I liked how the noodles weren't too broken and the sauce was kinda sweet. Also the veggies added a nice crunch and flavor. - Khao piak sen (loa chicken noodle soup) (2/5): I found this dish to be lacking in a lot of flavor, but the noodles had a very nice chewy texture. It's a very basic soup in general, so maybe it's suppose to be plain. Service/Ambiance: The restaurant ordering system was based on scanning a QR code then ordering and paying online. The atmosphere was very casual and relaxed. We would definitely come again especially for that Nam Khao.

Came in for a quick lunch with some coworkers and was impressed! Well, first off, I'm visiting from SoCal so my standards for southeast Asian food are fairly high. That said, Lao'd District would easily survive and thrive in my hometown. This place has all the flavors of Lao and Thai food and more importantly THE SPICE. We only ordered medium level spice to cater to the table but I could tell the heat was there. We ordered the green curry, pad thai, nam Khao, crispy glazed pork belly, and papaya salad. Whatever glazed they put on that pork belly, they should bottle and sell separately. It was so complimentary to the crispy pork skin without making it become soggy. The pad thai was a perfectly balance of tangy and slightly sweet. Only giving it 4 stars because the papaya salad came out a little salty but I would come back to give it another shot. The restaurant itself was open and inviting. It was noon so not too packed but I can see this place getting full for dinner. Super easy ordering and checkout with the QR code. Staff was quick and attentive. Definitely a spot to try if you're craving Lao and Thai food!

Wow!! What I can say, what an experience. It's a hip spin on a traditional family style dinning. The atmosphere was clean and very welcoming. The staff was very attentive, pleasant, and the service was right on time. The food exceeded our expectations, my husband doesn't really do off the grid that much. Needless to say we both cleaned our plates and will most definitely return! Shout out to the owners!! Amazing job!

the service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. prices were reasonable, and portion sizes were solid, making it a good value overall the roti was nicely layered with a satisfying char and was especially delicious when dipped into the red curry the crying tiger steak was easily the highlight of the meal. it was cooked to the perfect doneness, very tender, and had a great balance of lean and fatty pieces the drunken noodles had a great texture, not too hard or mushy, and weren't overly oily. there were plenty of vegetables mixed in, which we appreciated. however, it wasn't spicy at all :( the basil chicken was similar in that sense. the basil was very fragrant and aromatic, and there was a generous amount of meat, but again, it lacked any real spice the red curry leaned too sweet for our taste and was heavy on the coconut, which overpowered the curry flavor we were hoping for for dessert, the mango sticky rice had a strong coconut flavor and the mango itself was soft and sweet, but the sticky rice felt slightly undercooked the nam vaan was refreshing and packed with jelly and tropical fruits, making it fun to eat, but it was overwhelmingly sweet in all, the food was decent, but we were hoping for bolder flavors and more heat. the dishes could benefit from more depth, balance, and spice to really elevate the experience!

Really nice place, they do have QR codes on the table to be able to open a tab and order for your table. So no need to wait for a waiter to take your order. Staff is super nice and extremely helpful and nice. Ordered the chicken skin, red curry, green curry and tiger cry. I really love fried Chicken skin, I've had it elsewhere I make it at home, this one was not my favorite, some pieces were ok and some were kinda plastic textured. And i feel like it was lacking in flavor but beautiful presentation for sure Green curry was really good, the texture of the beef super tender, I know it says there is eggplant but I think it was sliced too thin to contribute to over all texture a little too sweet for me but over all it was good Red curry the texture of the beef was really tender I wasn't a huge fan of this one. I know how many flavors and aromatics go into curry and the heat from Thai peppers have this hint of basil taste normally and this kind of felt like the aromatics of the lemongrass galangal kefir lime leaves was missing and the heat seemed to be more cayenne pepper that Thai pepper Tiger cry is suvide then grilled. I think mine was over grilled so instead of medium it was more like medium well to well done. And I'm use to that chargrilled flavor and it seemed like it was done on a flat top or pan. I will say their price points are a little cheaper than others where a curry here is about $14 and adding beef is $2 additional as where most places are about $4 Tiger cry running at $20.99 All reviews are based on personal preference and taste. these guys are super nice and efficient and the fact that most of their staff are in the back and they make it easy to order from the table rather than having too many servers is how they keep their so reasonable. So I would say give them shot see what you think.

This was an interesting place. Had a very minimalistic vibe to it, but the staff was really friendly. You basically just have to order from your table using the QR code, and they bring the food out to you. But when they see you walk in, they do bring water and plates to you. I ended up getting the roti tacos. Sooo delicious! So it's kind of like a twist on birria tacos since they have the cup with the curry meat sauce on the side. Really enjoyed this, and my partner did too! I also tried the pad Thai, not bad. It was pretty standard as pad Thai goes. I can't wait to try something else here!

We took a short trip to Houston and decided to stop by this spot before heading back home. My husband and I are always on the lookout for authentic Lao food, and when we found this place on social media, we were so excited to give it a try. On the drive over, we browsed the menu and were even more thrilled to see so many traditional Lao dishes that you don't usually find elsewhere. The restaurant itself is super clean and modern, with a great ambiance. One small note--the booth seats were a bit lower than the table, so as a shorter person, I had to sit at the end to be more comfortable. The service was quick and friendly. Since it was our first time, the server walked us through the menu and helped explain everything, which we really appreciated. Here's what we ordered: Crab Papaya Salad (Tum Mak Hoong)- The portion was generous, and we loved that it came with *khao poon* (vermicelli noodles), so you could eat it like "Tum Khao Poon". That's something most places don't offer unless it's a separate dish. That said, the flavor was a little mild for our taste, we were hoping for more of that punchy, bold Lao flavor. Tiger Crying Steak (Suea Rong Hai)- This was a hit. Really well-seasoned, tender, and definitely worth ordering again. Lao Sour & Spicy Dipping Sauce (Jeow Som)- We weren't quite sure about this one. It tasted and looked more like a sweet chili sauce, almost like what you'd get with egg rolls. Not sure if it was a different version or a mix-up. Lao Sausage (Sai Gok)- It was just okay for us. A bit dry and lacking the depth of flavor we usually expect from Lao sausage. Sticky Rice (Khao Niew)- Simple but good. We appreciated that it was served in a traditional bamboo holder, which helped keep it warm. Thai Tea Flan- I didn't get a picture of this one, but it was alright. I expected it to be a little softer and jiggly. It had a strong cinnamon note at first, but the aftertaste leaned more toward the sweet, creamy Thai tea flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The place is definitely worth checking out, especially if you're craving dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. We do wish there were more Lao staff or representation, it would add an even more authentic, local vibe. Still, it's a solid spot and we're glad we made the stop!

A friend recommended Lao'd District. There were plenty of parking as well arrived early (6 pm). Please was not full and had our choice of seats. Staff came over and explained everything can be ordered online via QR code and paying via the app/website as well. We started with the Roti with curry sauce. It was tasty. We also ordered the Lao's sausages. Sausage was well seasoned. The "sauce" is one the spicy side which we liked. It also came with sticky rice that offsets the sausage's spiciness . Definitely worth trying out. We also ordered the drunken noodles and Steak Tiger Cry. Drunken noodles was good... noodles was cooked just right. Tasty as well. The star of the show was the Steak Tiger Cry that our friend recommended and did not disappoint. It is cooked rare. The meat was tender and seasoned well. Good size steak. The sauce is like chumuchuri and complements it very well. Definitely will come back to have it again. Place is clean and tables are well spaced out. You can see the kitchen behind the counter. Staff is friendly and recommended the dishes we ordered. There is also a giant display highlighting the best sellers.

This place has entered my regular rotation because it's so good and consistent. Have since tried the curria tacos (5/5), which is made with their roti and some phenomenally spiced ground chicken. Never seen this version of birria tacos, but loved it. So flavorful - definitely recommend! Crispy pork belly (4/5) - well prepared but the tiger eye still wins for me. Service is still 5+/5. I asked the waitress about the mocktails and she insisted that I try a sip to see if I'd like it. Really appreciated that because I ended up getting the kiwi cucumber lemonade (4/5), which was unique and refreshing. Would have preferred it less sweet, but these drinks are pre-mixed so couldn't adjust. Bonus we got two complimentary strawberry covered chocolates in honor of Valentine's Day.

We visited Lao'd District for a weekend lunch and left feeling, "OMG HOW HAVE WE NOT COME HERE ANY SOONER!!" The food was absolutely delicious. Everything had a wonderful balance of flavors and everything was perfectly cooked. We enjoyed the cream cheese egg-rolls, pork-belly, steak, and fried chicken skins. The service was great and ambiance was very urban and relaxed. We will be back!

First time here. Parking is difficult to find in this plaza, so it's best not to come during popular, busy times. When we arrived, we noticed you have to scan the QR code in order to place the food order from your phone for dine in. We never experienced this before, so we thought it was a cool concept. However, the website was not working. We tried multiple times to check out in the online cart to place our order and pay. I think it's just easier to give customers a menu and have a waiter take the order. I also don't like that there was a "tip" option on the online website order BEFORE you even receive your food. Someone did come and take our order when we told them we have made several unsuccessful attempts to self order online. We were given small, weak plastic forks and spoons as silverware. We did not enjoy eating with these plastic ware. It was challenging to pour the sauces from the main entrees onto our rice. Each entree came with white rice or sticky rice, which we appreciated. However, the portions were small, and white chicken meat was used in our red curry entree. The chicken meat was stringy and chewy. The red curry sauce was good but was a very small dish. The roti was average. The roti was thick and oily, and the curry dipping sauce was watery and bland. The chicken laab was bland as well. The Steak Tiger Cry dish tasted the best of all. We are likely not to return because the overall experience and food was underwhelming. read more

Finally a lao restaurant near the house and the J! I ordered to go but it was super cute inside. I got the salt toasted spare rib(lets), mild papaya salad (mild is like medium spice when it comes to lao/thai food), sticky rice, and jeow bong sauce (never tried this one before). Everything was soooo good! Service was prompt and they even let me try the Tiger Cry steak. Delicious! I will definitely be returning soon. read more

Very good Laos food! Ricky came up to us right when we got seated, explained their menu and offered help if we had questions about any of the dishes. We ordered Lao'd Sausage, Chicken Laab, Thai Morning Glory, Crack Belly and Steak Tiger Cry. They were all so delicious! Food here is pretty authentic and bomb.com. I'm Thai and I approved! It's a self-service. The owner/staff constantly checked on us how everything was. This is what we ordered - Crispy PORK 5/5 - so delicious, crunchy yet pork still tender - Papaya Salad 5/5 - It tasted exactly just like the street food in Thailand - Thai Basil Chicken 4/5 - so flavorful just wish it was more spicy since I got medium - Sausage 3.5/5 - no need to order, you won't miss out. But the Jaew Bong was bomb!!!! Overall, I'd definitely return!! read more

Finally got to try this place, and for someone who is part thai and Lao it was just ok to me . I had the Nam kao and Lao sausage 41$ pick up order. It's very very expensive for portion size. The Lao sausage was 12$ Nam kao 14$. I can't see myself coming back to spend that money after a 35 min drive. When I can easily go to Sao Lao Thai Café in the height for less and a more authentic taste. read more

I don't usually do reviews, and I'm always skeptical of "Lao" or "Thai" restaurants because it's difficult to find real authentic Laotian food. This is what I grew up eating in central California with a dense Lao/Thai community. This place is REAL AUTHENTIC LAO FOOD. I'm Hmong, so if you know, you know, lol. I was shocked and so happy to find some real Lao food in Houston. Some authentic Lao dishes are Laab, Papaya Salad, and Lao Sausage. All of them were on point. If you love spicy food, these guys can also bring it. The service is great. You scan the QR codes for the menu and order from there. This takes a minute to get used to but is so convenient. Food comes out quicker than most sit-down restaurants. The crew running this place is humble and really cool people to talk to. I would recommend adding a WIFI QR code on the table or including the password for your wifi on the tables. This just makes it faster for everyone to look at the menu and order. The price is a little high for the portions but not bad at all. We ordered like 5 dishes, sticky rice, and drinks. It came out just under $100. I will definitely be a regular here! Love the place, people, and food! read more

Really good food!!! If you're wanting Lao food this is the place. Everything we tried was delicious. I especially enjoyed the papaya salad and crispy rice. The flavors were well balanced and on point. Other notables are the Lao sausage, laab steak, crying tiger and red curry sauce. read more

We got there right when they opened at 11, parking was a little tight, but manageable. Food was amazing! We really enjoyed everything we ordered. Service was good, and very attentive until it got super busy. I liked that you ordered and paid from your phone before they brought anything out. I enjoyed being able to eat and walk out with having to look for a server. The restaurant itself was clean, and unfussy. Would recommend, and look forward to being back! read more

We had the pad thai and curry chicken, the noodles are stuck together like it has been sitting in the kitchen, portions are small, curry is tasteless, on top of that you are required to pay for the food and pay gratuity before you get the food, I did not expect that from a table service restaurant, not much service since you order from QR code. Wont be back. read more

Glad to see a new Lao spot in Chinatown! Between the two of us, we might have over ordered but the dishes and service was fantastic, although a bit on the pricey side given the portions. The crack pork belly was probably my favorite of all. We also had chicken wings, Lao sausage, khao piak sen, and nam khao. It's self serve, so you grab your own utensils and plates. That said, the staff was very attentive and kind. read more

Best Laos food ever PERIOD. Sao Lao and banh somtum are good but this is really good especially for Bellaire Blvd standards. Much closer as well so super convenient. The service is super friendly and they listen to any cons. They want to improve if needed. Like people said the portions are small so they increased it. A lot of businesses don't do this due to inflation but they went the extra mile for their customers. My server Francis and the owner Terry were super attentive as well! Wow! So friendly and personable. Francis did explain they were doing self serve because they are low staff and I hope they find staff soon. They have so much potential and they are super unique. The tamarind sauce for the sticky rice and Laos sausage? Are you kidding? And oh my god the tiger cry rare. Wow and their sauces are homemade. This is definitely one of a kind in Houston. Fast casual Lao food. It really gave me an appreciation for the food and culture. I came out the same day the Houston Chronicle wrote an article about it and it really blew my mind to what Loa food is (not Viet and Not Thai but it's distinct flavor. Order and pay by QR code and food brought to table. The sticky rice in traditional container really balances so well with the jerky which itself was tender and well seasoned. The steak sous vide was tender and seasoned well. Crack belly melted in our mouths. The sweet and hot sauce on the fried fish made was really good and spicy. Crispy rice nam khao was a a texture masterpiece. Thai roti was something we could have eaten endlessly. Order extra spicy and sweet tamarind. It's like sate but more unami and less oily. The staff, atmosphere, and ease of ordering is very nice, however, food is mediocre to say the least. At first I thought the prices were great but upon seeing the portions I was disappointed. The portions are appetizer size at entree prices. We tried the red curry and basil fried rice, the curry lacked flavor and was rather bland. The basil rice had a lot of flavor but it wasn't great either. We also ordered roti as an appetizer, it wasn't fluffy like other Thai places and I thought the accompanying side sauce was stingy in appearance. Overall there are better Thai/Lao restaurants to eat at with better portions. read more

I never leave reviews, but this place was such a disappointment. I got red curry because someone raved about it in a review, and I love red curry. The curry itself was maybe 3 stars. Really on the thin side, flavor nothing exceptional, but not something I'd be outraged about. What made it really bad were the chicken and the rice. Rice was cooked into a mash. Literally mash. The chicken looked and tasted like boiled chicken breast that you shredded and left in the fridge for a a few days: probably still safe to eat but already disgusting. I ate half and threw the rest away. I don't know if that's the signature Laotian style every other review here raves about, but I'm definitely never going back. read more

Our group went in around 6:30pm on Saturday night and was sitting right away. This place is a different then other places, you will scan QR code, and place your order though the website. Food came out right on time to serve 5 empty stomach. We ordered the crack belly, pad thai, chicken wings, steak tiger cry, nam khao, khao poon and salted ribs. Everyone loved the crack belly and the steak tiger cry. Nam khao and khao poon has very unique taste. The rest of food is good also. The atmosphere is very energized and loud. I got the red curry and the pad thai to fulfill my late night cravings and boy oh boy did this place not let me down. The food was good, especially the red curry. I really enjoyed our dinner. We were greeted by the friendly staffs when we walked in. Our waiter, Ricky, was awesome! We ordered Tiger Cry, Moo Belly, Khao piak sen and a side of sticky rice. Everything was so good, a burst of wonderfulness with every bite. My favorite dish for that night was the Moo Belly. I finished my meal with their refreshing Strawberry Lychee drink. Yummy Lao street food that also come with the best service! I tried the roti, tiger cry, jeow bong and Thai tea. The roti was hot and soft. It pairs soo good with the curry sauce! Also, the tiger cry was tender and yummy with the sauce that comes with it! The jeow bong was perfect and had a nice kick to it. And last but not least the Thai tea!
