This was an amazing halal Chinese meal at Ma's House. We loved everything and the service was great. Food was served quickly and hot. The restaurant is bright and all the tables are set for larger crowds with 8 seats though there are booths for smaller groups. We started with the Chicken corn soup and beef dumplings. The main course was walnut shrimp and black pepper chicken. We also got the chicken chow mein noodles and the 3 flavor fried rice. Nothing was too spicy and the flavors were delicious. Check them out for halal Chinese food in Houston.

Slept on Chinese halal restaurant that's huge and right next to the plaza that's always busy. Honestly I think my group just ordered the wrong things that weren't Chinese halal specialties (ie lamb). We got standard Chinese dishes that are passing but definitely not as well made as other Chinese restaurants. I heard their version of scallion pancakes is a specialty, and each one was huge! Definitely a highlight. I hope to be back soon to try some of the specialty halal dishes.

The staff is welcoming and efficient. The restaurant has plenty of room to accommodate big families. The lunch menu was pretty good, except Ma's short ribs. They were very flavorful, but chewy. A lunch plate comes with a nice corn soup with little chicken bits and an eggroll. The sole with asparagus was tender and we'll be ordering that again! The eggrolls were a bit mushy inside. The chicken with cashews was good. We'll be bringing friends to share more dishes!

I've tried the original in Anaheim and really enjoyed it, so I was delighted when I first heard it had come to Houston! I decided to give it some time before trying it so it could work out any kinks they might have, which are inevitable when opening a new shop. We finally tried it this week, and it wasn't quite like the original. Let's start with how large this place is! It's massive which is great because you don't have to worry about wait times. The folks who work here are incredibly sweet, patient, and helpful. They helped us select dishes and waited until we figured it out! There was so much to choose from. Their servings are also large, so you'll have leftovers which is always a nice perk! The food was where it just didn't meet the mark. Everything was just bland. My husband did comment that maybe that's how authentic food should taste, and we are conditioned to American Chinese that is much more salty? I'm not entirely sure if that's why we found it bland, but it's a thought! We ordered the garlic and jalepeno beef, the dough/hand pulled noodles chicken chow mein, pan fried beef dumplings and the thin bread with green onions. The bread with green onions is SUCH a large helping- 16 pieces! The dumplings were... my husband enjoyed them but I hated how it was a giant chunk of beef wrapped in the dumpling. Not much else going on seasoning or flavor wise. The noodles were better once I added soy sauce and Chili oil. And the beef was not spicy, but again serviceable with a bit of chili oil and soy. All in all, we'd come back to give it another try given some time. It wasn't bad but it was also nothing to write home about.

A new Halal Chinese food in this area of Chinatown, and it is not Uyghur Chinese food bit traditional Chinese food that is also Halal, they have great lunch special here. The service is fast here and the food is pretty good too. The restaurant is a little bit big for the amount of customers they have so far so it may feel a bit empty. Come and check out this place and even if you do not eat strictly Halal.

My first impression of Ma's House is that it is huge and nicely decorated. I'm at a group of nine and they accommodated us easily at a round lazy Susan table. They were patient with the orders and took time to explain everything. Everybody was super friendly. We ordered eight or nine things and everything was truly fantastic. From the crispy chive sesame bread to the filet mignon dish. I was also excited to see hand cut thick noodles. Those are my favorite and I had been missing those from Chinatown. The Mongolian steak and pepper steak was excellent as well as some of the chicken dishes we got. Everything was delicious It's great to have such a big clean, organized and high quality Chinese halal police in the hotspot of Bellaire and beltway 8. Definitely coming back here and catering from here. That bread was amazing. All around awesome place

Went to @mashousechinesehalal, New halal chinese spot in town. I have heard a lot of positives about the original location in LA, so definitely had to give it a try. I went with the Filet Mignon Black Pepper Sauce off the lunch menu, which comes with a veggie spring roll and the soup of the day, which was Chicken Corn Soup. and also ordered the Steamed Beef Dumplings. The meal also comes with complimentary tea. First off the the Filet Mignon was amazing, so tender and juicy. overall a great portion size for a lunch special. And for the Steamed Beef Dumplings which were great aswell, Soft dumpling exterior and the juicy flavor beef inside. Overall this place is great and definitely worth the hype.

BUMMED. This place has room for improvement, and seeing as it just opened...I think it has the potential to turn itself around to be close to the OG Ma's Islamic Chinese in Anaheim. The place / ambiance is PHENOMENAL and if that's all the matters to you -- then GO FOR IT! It has its own semi-spacious parking lot (though I do see this being a battle during peak hours). The SERVICE, on the other hand, could use a lot of work. We were being helped by Lucy, and she seemed aloof from the get go. My husband was giving our order, and her mind seemed to be focused on the server taking another parties order next to our table. YIKES. She even apologized after noticing our dismay. She forgot to get our drink order, didn't bring us our water, and we had to ask another server to go grab her after 10-12 minutes. I think we saw her maybe 2-3 times in total for our entire dinner there. Ma's -- there needs to be better staff training. If this was the service when half the restaurant was empty - I can only imagine what it is like when it's a full house. On to the food, ARGH. THIS ONE GETS TO ME THE MOST. Our order was: 1. Orange Chicken (medium spice) 5/5 this one was the one dish that was completed in its entirety! Crispy and absolutely delicious! 2. Sizzling Black Pepper Beef -- came out SIZZLING, yet bland. I'm not too sure where the flavor got lost, but this wasn't it fam. 3. Steamed Rice. 4. Chicken Chow Mein. This one was good for the kids. The chicken wasn't too overpowering and the noodles were not rubbery. 5. Chicken & Creamy Corn Soup. I was expecting this to be piping hot, but it was on the colder side. I actually ended up taking this back to the hotel room and warming it up myself. Tasted better! I personally like mixing this with vinegar, chili oil, and a little bit of soy sauce for ultimate flavor. Overall, 3 / 5. Lots of potential, but just needs time. I hope to make a pit stop next time I'm in HTX, at least for the orange chicken.

We arrived at 745 on a weekday and this place was packed. The food was great but in a huge restaurant the management needs to keep more than 2 waiters. The two poor waitstaff were overwhelmed and we waited an hour for food because they were tending to 70 plus customers. The scallion pancakes were delicious. Management do better with supporting your staff.

I had an opportunity to try Ma's House during grand opening. Was overwhelmed with the amount of options on the menu. Thankfully was not disappointed on the result of deliveries. The food was flavorful and authentic. The staff were super busy and only came over to the table when called upon. The restaurant was giving a friendly family style vibe. Definitely a solid spot for Chinese food.

Amazing amazing amazing! As someone who lived in Asia and experienced a ton of Halal Chinese foods, I am at a loss for words! This was authentic, tasty and fulfilling to the point to where I had leftovers for the next days lunch. The quality of the meat is bar non and you can taste it I every bite. Overall I give this new restaurant a 5/5 for everything including quality of food, ambience, and service! I highly recommend it. The Sizzling Black Pepper Beef was melt in your mouth awesomeness!

We tried the turkey, brisket, and jalapeño sausage, and every one of them was delicious. The brisket was especially impressive--moist, incredibly tender, and so soft you didn't even need a knife to cut it. The sides were very good, but the meats were definitely the highlight of the meal. One thing we really appreciated was the toppings bar, which included pickles, onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, and two different barbecue sauces so you could customize each bite. They even had a mini soft-serve ice cream machine for a little dessert after your meal, which was a nice touch. They also offer family meal options, making it a great choice for larger groups. The restaurant was clean, had plenty of seating, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. If you're looking for excellent halal barbecue in the Houston area, Levant is definitely worth a visit!

The kitchen line has lots of workers happy to help with questions and let you see/try anything you are not sure about as they have some non-traditional options for a BBQ place. They have several sauce options. You can't go wrong with any. They were in the middle of construction/expansion but there are still lots of seating options in or outside. I would definitely go back here instead a typical BBQ place. The flavors just hit so well together. And the Mediterranean style is clearly a healthier option. The lychee ceviche I was looking forward to was underwhelming. More beautiful than tasty, which the dessert suffered the same fate. The soccer ball was photogenic but it should be both with the level of sophistication in taste they acquire in their craft. It was reminiscent of a Cadbury egg. Just the peaches and the chocolate were unimpressive and not complimentary of each other. The tuna papad was amazing. Some subtle hints of aromatic Indian flavors and and sweetness. The contrast of crisp and soft and presented well. That's how I expected each dish. The rizala was creamy but not exciting with bold flavors like I was hoping. The lamb was inconsistent. One of them was tough and texture/taste off. The rest were tender but not flavorful enough in seasoning. Tried a new naan. Nimbu it was ok but too thin for naan and the lemon essence didn't really spread well across. Mango pina colada was nice. Quite disappointing for $220 though. Possible I just ordered terribly. The chef tasting menu didn't look appetizing or sound very Indian so I ordered à la cart.

We ain't in Queens anymore…read more For years, I've eaten on Shah's all around the borough, initially out in Ozone Park and Briarwood before finding a real audience in Sunnyside. Now that they've sufficiently blown up around NYC, I was a bit shocked (and excited) to see them finally come to H-Town. What's the verdict? It's good enough to pass muster for NY standards (#1), is open super late, and will likely be my go-to Halal food for the foreseeable future. Since I've only had it in cart form, I'm still a buggin over the fact it's become a franchise. It's similar to my shock of eating Halal Guys at a store for the first time. The digs feel as foreign (prices, large, clean and bright interior) as it does familiar (taste, logo, etc.). Even though I had a laugh seeing the wall photo-mural of a Shah's cart in Times Square, I did appreciate the nod to Ozone Park with the 121st & Liberty street signs. The chicken + lamb combo platter ($12) is and always will be the winner. The lamb had the same kind of seasoning that most Halal spots out here try to replicate but can never get right. The rice was fluffy, and the white sauce was easily the highlight. I can understand why they've decided to bottle it up and sell it as liquid gold. It makes every meal better. Kofta ($12) and chapli ($13) are rarely my favorites, but I knew I had both in platter form. The addition of adding chickpeas and these other salads is not something I'm used to from the carts (#2) but I loved the fact it was drowned in the white sauce with a dash of hot sauce. The latter is supposedly extremely hot, but I didn't find it that spicy. While I have to say the cheeseburger was a bit of a disappointment (overly bready, thin patty), the pakora chips and french fries were fabulous. They were perfectly seasoned, had a nice crisp, and frankly would be an excellent, gut-busting addition to any platter. I don't love the extra charge, but I hope they remain consistent with it. This store location in Westchase along Westheimer is an up and coming part of town. There are numerous Middle Eastern businesses in the adjacent area, along with an abundance of parking spots and a good amount of late night activity. Service was friendly but I do hope they keep their standards up. This is a nicely sized spot next to the Jusgo plaza in Houston Chinatown, so plenty of parking and also food options. It's tucked in a corner but should not be written off. Its a pretty casual sitdown restaurant and we were welcomed and sat pretty quickly on a Saturday around 8:30PM. We were provided menus and started ordering everything that sounded good (within reason for 2, sorta). We ended up getting the Uyghur polo with lamb shank, Uyghur goshnaan, korma chop, garlic cucumbers, mint tea, and a yogurt for dessert. This was more than enough food for 2 but I wanted to try a bunch and this is me holding back. The Uyghur goshnaan was very crispy and the filling was flavorful and juicy, good lamb flavor and nice spices. The Uyghur polo with lamb shank was great and the pilaf had a nice sweetness with raisins that cut through some of the fatty richness of the lamb. The korma chop was also super flavorful with a nice savory sauce and noodled with an excellent texture, very QQ. I don't usually order cucumbers at Asian restaurants cause I can make a cucumber salad pretty easily at home but the one here was very good. Excellent refreshing crunch and garlic flavor to go with all the other dishes. The mint tea was also nice to wash down the mountains of food I was inhaling. I also enjoyed the yogurt, it's a thicker yogurt like a Greek yogurt and topped with honey and raisins. Again, a nice sweet/tart treat that didn't feel too heavy after everything else. I definitely need to come back as I didn't even get my big plate chicken but it'll be hard to choose between all the options.
