The restaurant was spacious and clean. Food and drinks: You can find here typical Thai dishes, however, the owner explained to us during our chat, that they try to make the foods different than in other restaurants. Ex., Khao Soi is served here with short rib rather than chicken and kimchi replaces sour pickled mustard greens. The pasta was sourced from local Italian family business. The dish was really good overall. Same goes for special Pla Ra dish with fermented fish. It provides a deep, foundational umami flavor to dishes like green papaya salad. Larb was perhaps a little too salty, so recommend getting rice with it. The service was very good. They don't have their alcohol license yet so BYOB. Overall, the food was generally good. We had: Tsunami (4/5) - A soup that was sort of like Tom Yum but creamier. Bit portion and lots of seafood in it. Chicken Wrapped (2.5/5) - This was the only miss. The flavor was okay but so salty! Pad Thai (4/5) - Good flavors but the noodles were a bit overcooked. I have been a loyal customer here for a long time and have always had a positive experience. I have never had any issues with the service or my orders until today. Today, I was served by a new employee. I ordered Pad Thai with beef and requested a small amount of extra raw bean sprouts, along with Yum Seafood and Pepper Steak. My total came to $100.67. I have no problem paying that amount, as I have placed larger orders here many times before. However, I was surprised to see an additional $5 charge for the small amount of raw bean sprouts, which was listed on the receipt as "steamed mixed vegetables." Raw bean sprouts and steamed mixed vegetables are two completely different items. I explained to the employee that I have ordered extra raw bean sprouts here many times and have never been charged for them before. Unfortunately, my concern did not seem to be taken seriously. This is not about the $5. It is about being charged for something I did not order and receiving consistent and fair treatment as a longtime customer. I hope management will review this situation and clarify the restaurant's policy regarding additional ingredients so that customers are charged accurately in the future. I value this restaurant and have continued coming back because I have always enjoyed the food and service. I hope this experience was simply a misunderstanding and that it can be handled better going forward. read more

I was craving for some Thai food and this place popped up on recommended, but what drove me here was the interior atmosphere and then the food makes me wonder why it wasn't busy on a Saturday night? If you are looking for a fancy Thai dinner date, this place is perfect! I tried a variety of appetizers, the crab cake is made of real meat so it's tender yet firm, got a taste of the sea in my mouth. The sausage is definitely made in house by looking at the shape and the refreshing seasoning, it's not so sour compared to other places that I've tried. And they bursts juiciness every bite so careful on first bite. Tom yum soup was fragrantly spiced, very hearty to drink on a cold day. Lastly, the duck curry was very delicious too. Crispy skin with the chewy meat, nicely flavored and not dry to eat. The curry is sweet and tangy, not too heavy to eat. Service was fast and they are very friendly. Eve though I was dining alone, they still checked up on me multiple times and making sure food tasted well for me. I would highly recommend here for a casual yet fancier Asian dinner date. Green Curry is my favorite, with Massaman coming in with a close second. Spring rolls with shrimp were as good as any I've had at the Vietnamese restaurants. The pad see ew khaki soi are other favorites but honestly the meat in all every dish on the menu is so tender that you can't go wrong with anything. I highly recommend the Esan sausage and the curry puffs as appetizers. The service here was excellent! It's get busy during the lunch hour but they've added extra help. The crew is always friendly and smiles and definitely attentive. My glass has never got below half. The place is always nice and clean! The decor is very nice as well and fits both the lunch and dinner setting. They did a great job with the decoration and color scheme. They don't offer cocktails but you can get a beer or two. Wayyyy overdue review. This is a really good option for Thai food given the location. Even though the service can be a bit slow at times, I feel like the flavors at Zaab Der are phenomenal. It is northeastern (Isan) style food. You will see the usual pad thai and flat noodle (drunken?) dishes on the menu along with super powerful and strongly flavored papaya salad. If memory serves me correctly, their spiciest isn't that spicy but it is actually quite on the border of being spicy. If that makes any sense. If you love spicy food you might want to ask for extra spicy on the side haha. My favorite items here were their Thai tea and the crab fried rice. I literally got two Thai teas!!
