Kin Dee Thai Cuisine is my go-to Thai spot in the Heights. It's consistently delicious and always hits the spot. Do not leave without trying the moneybags and shrimp in a blanket, both are absolute must-orders. For entrées, my favorites are the Pad See Ew, Basil Chicken, Crab Meat Fried Rice, and the Panang Curry. Everything is packed with flavor, and I love that they can adjust the spice level depending on your preference. whether you like it super spicy or more on the mild side. I usually eat so much that I don't have room for dessert, but if you do, go for the coconut ice cream. read more

I really love the Kin Dee Thai aesthetic. The space is modern, clean, and just really well designed. The marble tables are a nice touch, and they also have outdoor seating, which would be perfect on a nice day. The atmosphere made it easy to chat and actually enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed, which I appreciated. For drinks, I had the lychee martini, and it was really great. It came with a nice garnish (including apple), and the flavor was on point. For food, I had the Kindi fried rice, which I really enjoyed. My friend also ordered a chicken fried rice, and that looked good as well. They do have soy sauce nut you have to ask for it. I do wish I could get fried rice (instead of regular) with one of meat entrees instead of having to get both or choose between but the waiter said that was not allowed. I also tried the mango sticky rice, and unfortunately, that was not my favorite. I did not finish it, and it is not something I would order again. Something about it just did not quite sit for me. Stopped by here for takeout the other day to pick up dinner. Ordering was easy and the food was ready in 15 min or so. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating if eating there though! Everything was so good! Loved the pad thai, among the best I've had. Also loved the Khao soi, the curry was so flavorful! This is such a great restaurant for a date night or girls night! The vibes are super cute and the chairs are comfortable. My husband always orders the northern style curry with bone-in chicken, and it is truly one of the best dishes we have tried in Houston. I usually get the panang curry with tofu and it's always delicious and well-seasoned. The purple flower dumplings are iconic and a must-try. Had some lovely thai food at Kin Dee. Started with two appetizers. First were, of course, the Flower Dumplings because just look how beautiful these are of course I'm gonna order it. Had a nice crunchy peanut filling! Second we also had the Chicken Satay which were pretty simple, grilled chicken with a peanut sauce, but good! For my main I chose the Premium Tiger Cry which was a marinated steak that was cooked well, but it came with this unbelievable sauce that like shocked me at how good it was omg. It was called North Eastern Special Sauce which I'm not sure what that means but wow thats divine like I don't think Ive ever tried a flavor like this sauce before. Rice and veggies were good and loved the little container the rice came in. For dessert I had a Thai Tea Creme Brûlée which yes, it is as good as it sounds. My friends and i came here for thai and were not disappointed! We started with hot tea (not pictured) which was a combination of green teas. Was very good blend but the cup to drink from was very small, about the size of a shot glass. We then got the flower dumplings which were sooo yummy. Basically pad thai in dumpling form. I got the pineapple fried rice which was interesting but very good. Had raisins in it which is not what i was expecting! And also came in this large pineapple bowl lol. My friend was visiting from out of town and she wanted to eat Thai food. I told her we should come here because the first time I came the experience was amazing. This time we had an amazing experience as well, our server Brittany was outstanding very helpful with the menu, and her service was excellent. Food and drinks never disappoint here, we started with the flower dumplings because this is the signature appetizer and they were delicious and so beautiful to look at, I got the drunken noodles and she got fried rice. We both were extremely happy with our choices and she also got a drink, and she was very happy with it because not only the service is fast they make it right every time. They have a patio there was a lot of people on the patio because we had very nice weather last night, but they also have indoor seating in a bar, I also saw that they have ladies Wednesday, from 5 PM until closing time or cocktails are half off. Solid Thai food, and prices aren't crazy given inflation and the Heights location, so that was an unexpected surprise. Service is good. I really like that lots of items on the menu had photos, it definitely helps set expectations of what you're actually getting. I got the Northern Style Curry (Khao Soi), which came with a whole chicken quarter. Slightly disappointed with the minimal pickled mustard greens that I LOVE having with my Khao Soi. My girlfriend got the Shrimp Tom Yum, which I thought was a bit watery and didn't have enough sourness to it. Slight smell to the tap water/glass, but that might be Houston ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Server was friendly, and parking was easy. I hadn't been to Kin Dee in years. I had gone once during Houston Restaurant Week and remember not being all that impressed, but the restaurant sent me a coupon not long ago for $50 off my meal as a returning customer. How could I turn down a free $50? So, I decided to give the restaurant another chance, and I'm glad I did! Parking was easy, although we went earlier in the evening. I know that particular lot to get pretty full pretty quickly. We also made a reservation, so there was no wait at the restaurant. The ambiance was great - more upscale than what I am typically used to for Thai food, and their place settings were beautiful. I did have to ask for a clean glass because mine was dirty, but the wait staff ameliorated that quickly. We ordered several dishes including the drunken noodles, Pad Thai, and Panang curry. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented! My favorite was the drunken noodles - pad kee mao with a combination of proteins, veggies, and Thai basil. So yummy! The portion sizes were generous and ordering family style was a great way to try several dishes. The price tag is a little hefty for Thai food. Even with my $50 off, I still paid a good amount for the meal. Kin Dee is a great place to visit for good Thai food, but not if you are on a budget! read more

Kind of sad I can't give it a full 5 stars because when I came here back in 2021, I was blown away by the food, service, and atmosphere. I came in for a solo dinner, and my order was taken within a few minutes. The food came out fast, which I appreciated. I got the Tiger Cry and the stir-fried Thai basil chicken with a fried egg. The Thai basil chicken was stellar, and made for great leftovers the next day. The Tiger Cry was just okay for me; not very flavorful, and with so many other standouts on the menu, I probably wouldn't reorder it. I'd still give the food 5 stars. The service, though, just wasn't what I remembered. No one checked on me during my meal, and after I finished eating, I had to flag someone down for both a to-go box and the check. I was slightly disappointed there was zero spice in any of the dishes and the portions were pretty small despite the prices. I came here for dinner on a weekend night for the first time. We made a reservation but it wasn't too crowded, so might not be necessary since they have a sizeable space. I am vegetarian and have celiac (strict gluten-free), and they had several options available. They also cook a vegan batch of curries and a regular batch of their curries. We ordered the Thai flower dumplings for appetizers, which was the price of an entire, but also a very unique and delicious dish I haven't had before with a savory and slightly sweet filling, chewy dumpling texture and 5/5 for aesthetics. I had the panang curry with steamed tofu, which was savory and delicious, though a few vegetables might have been a nice addition. Thai tea was pretty decent, and definitely on the sweeter side. My partner had the Khao soil and said it was excellent! They have an interesting vibe, with the wall art and a live DJ. They had nice plates, which were even available for sale. This restaurant has been my in-laws favorite for as long as I remember. And I finally got a chance to come try it with them in person. The restaurant is midsize and was quite packed when we went on a Wednesday evening. We were a party of six and we got immediately seated, which was really awesome. The server was very kind and made a few mistakes with our order, but that's totally fine since we are vegetarians and made a few customizations. They were so kind to provide us with a free deer ice cream at the end of our order for the mistakes and we appreciate that so much. The food was so so delicious. I've been to Kin Dee a few times and each time I've ordered something different. As I reflect on this restaurant, I think this is a great place to have drinks and appetizers. The butterfly pea tea- slightly sweet, but full of flavor and seems like a unique offering here. The Thai tea is also great and my favorite drink of choice at Thai restaurants. I love that when the weather is nice, they have a small space outdoors where you can dine-in. They also have a separate bar and indoor space. In the evenings (at least on weekends) they tend to have a live performer which adds to the overall ambiance while dining. Onto the food: Two of my favorite appetizers are the "Money Bags" and the Thai Flower Dumpling. The Thai Flower Dumpling is made using the butterfly pea tea leaves to create the purple hue. It is filled with peanuts, sugar, and a sauce. Extremely tasty. Money bags kind of remind me of a smaller version of an egg roll. It's made with shrimp and chicken. I've tried a variety of their entrees include: Khao Soi, Green Curry, Panang Curry and the Crab Meat Fried Rice. If I had an area of opportunity to describe for this place, it would be the entrees. The Crab Meat Fried rice was a let down for me because all I could taste was salt. The rest of the entrees were okay. None of them were what I would describe as "amazing" or even something I'd even crave to try again. With that being said, I like it for what it is. Are there better Thai spots in Houston? Absolutely, but I do think this is worth a taste if you've never been. read more
