Absolutely not a fan of this place. I came here for dessert after dinner and wasn't impressed. My friend swears by this place, so I thought I'd give it a go, but nope...I've had better. In all fairness, maybe I just ordered wrong, but I for sure left disappointed. Not too sure if I'll try them out again, but if I do, I will definitely be ordering something different. They have plenty of options to choose from, so that's good. If I decide to go back, I'll update this review. Maybe my experience will be different next time around.

Piña Colada

Curiosity got the best of me - I had to see what all the hype is about. Stopped by on my way home from La Lucha. I ordered a piña colada, it was served up very quickly! It was better than I thought it'd be, I can see myself stopping by every once in a while for a cold drink. Probably a good place if you're into the gram, tik tok, or whatever the kids are on these days haha. I can see these drinks being all over social media.

OBSESSED. Happy Go Lucky is exactly what you want on a hot day--fun, colorful, delicious, and just the right amount of indulgent. I ordered the Strawberry Delight with extra condensed milk and a tequila floater, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was to die for. 10/10, no notes. It was sweet, refreshing, and had that perfect boozy kick without overpowering the flavor. My friend got the Dreamy Dreamsicle with extra condensed milk and a vodka topper, and she was in love with hers too! The setup is super cute and relaxed. It's an outdoor walk-up stand with shaded seating and plenty of fans, which kept things comfortable even in the Texas heat. They also have a drive-thru if you're on the go, but we stayed and enjoyed the vibe--and we devoured every last drop (see photo evidence ). Such a good spot for a treat, especially when the weather's nice. Bright colors, good music, strong pours, and even stronger flavors. Already planning my next visit!

I had exceptionally high hopes for Happy Go Lucky. We were really looking forward to a Hawaiian style shaved ice option with real fruit. *It's clear that their primary focus is on creating exceptional daiquiris and alcohol options. (We are not drinkers) *I must commend them on infusing a remarkable amount of flavor into their snow cones, a true delight. I selected the Happy Rainbow, which was VERY sweet and melted quickly. Probably because Houston's 99-degree heat, but still brought a smile to my face. VERY MESSY! *Daughter got blue coconut said it was okay, she had better. *The employees were so sweet and helpful !

Came on a Friday afternoon for a sweet treat and this was great to cool off from the hot and humid Houston summers. I got the happy rainbow and my friend got the miami vice. I tried to substitute the pineapple syrup in the happy rainbow for the mango flavor, but they did not allow substitutions. I also asked for less syrup but mine came out overflowing with syrup. With syrup spilling out on the sides and the ice melting quickly in the heat it was a bit messy to eat, but the flavors were good and it was refreshing. I think it was a bit sweeter than id prefer, but I did enjoy the creamy scoop of ice cream and the fruity mochi bites. (5.5/10) The Miami vice was super cooling and you can definitely taste the alcohol. I would say that the drinks are a bit stronger than the average frozen/ blended drink you'd get at a bar. The shaved ice portion was also fun addition to the drink. (6/10) I'd definitely take someone here if they were wanting to try something new.

Mango, strawberry, pineapple shaved ice with chamoy

I am SO HAPPY we have this right before the Texas summer picks up!! The location is prime and easily accessible to other restaurants nearby. It is in a hotspot near La Lucha, Snooze, and Burger Joint- so there is a bit of traffic in the area (the line was wrapped around but moved pretty quickly). They offer an assortment of shaved ice and frozen cocktails which is nifty. They allow three flavors on customized ones- I opted for mango, pineapple and strawberry with chamoy. The ice was soooooo soft, this was honestly the best that I've had in years. The syrups are not overly sweet and the portion prices were pretty decent. Service was quick and with a smile. The only con was that when ordering in the drive-thru, you get your picks and a styrofoam cup with a flat lid. Small blip but would be nice to get the advertised cups! I'll be returning nonetheless

Frose and strawberry dacquiri

We have been watching this fun place be built for forever, and finally got to stop by! The drinks were fun and good. It wasn't the best frozen we've ever had and the frose and the strawberry dacquiri tasted pretty similar, but it is a fun option near us now. The drinks were not very strong, but that was not the type of beverage we were looking for at the time. The frozen espresso martini will be fun to try next. Our friends got shaved ice and loved it! The staff told us we would need to wait 20-30 minutes, but our drinks were ready much before then which was nice. Overall, it was also a good low key place to hang out as well.

Very disappointed, my ice was melted when I received it. Not coming back

Very bad this was my melted ice when I received it. Wanted a shaved ice not a soupy bowl full of syrups. Not coming back here ever.

I can see why this spot is so popular! The ambiance is amazing: spacious outdoor seating, plenty of parking, a convenient drive-thru, and great music playing. I ordered the Happy Rainbow, and it was the perfect treat to satisfy my sweet tooth. With Houston's hot weather, this place is an absolute gem and a spot I know I'll keep coming back to!

Happy Go Lucky was a fun sweet treat in the Houston heat! Loved the fun vibe. Endless combinations to create. They also offer alcohol options which would be fun. I wish the ice would have been a little softer, but definitely a whimsical place to stop.

For sure I regret doing drive thru and not sitting down for the whole icy experience. I tried the rainbow Hawaiian I think it was called and it was so good. Service in drive thru was super fast. The outside seating area looked pretty cute. Very family friendly!

Happy Go Lucky offers a pretty solid shaved ice experience. It's a nice treat, though it doesn't quite replicate the authentic taste of Hawaiian shaved ice. The ice texture is good, and they have a decent selection of flavors. It's a great option for satisfying that craving for a cold, sweet treat when you can't be in Hawaii. It'll definitely tide you over until your next trip to the islands.

With this Houston heat, shaved ice is a must. Located in the heights with ample parking is a win!! Please note it is outdoor seating only. I've come twice over the past week and there was always a line which moves fast. They have a menu with crafted shaved ice and cocktails but you can also create your own. If you are in the area stop by for a tasty treat

I would like to preface, this isn't a cheap quick dinner restaurant but I highly recommend coming at least once. We found it on the Michelin guide. I love the inside of the restaurant, the layout is fun and intimate. *grilled oysters were good. The flavor from the n'duja with the bits of pecan was something I would never think to pair. Great start! * elk tartare was surprisingly amazing. I always find tartare to be a tough dish to make outstanding and with elk I was hesitant to try but happy we tried it. The plate was cleaned by the time we finished. The cracker was light and paired well with it. * maitake mushrooms were so good that we had to split it evenly so no one got an unfair amount lol The sauce is like a coffee/caramel/chocolately savory sauce. Mt description doesn't do it justice. It's umami but has a caramelized feel. Just get it! * pork chop was the best pork chop we've had. We typically order steak over pork chops at restaurants but heard great things. Tender and flavorful. I will say it's a very rich dish so be mindful of that but highly recommended * grits, this was the dark horse. It was our favorite tapa. We laugh bc we didn't think grits would be the fav, out of all the amazing dishes. But the beef cheek underneath the silky grits... YUM! I'll be craving them *basque cheesecake was good but not the best we've had. But it's also hard to compete with all the other dishes we had

We love elevated tapas style restaurants so we had to see what it was all about! Unfortunately, the food just didn't wow me at all. It was fine, but fine doesn't cut it for this price. Food: - Duck Liver: 6/10 I LOVE pate so this one was extra disappointing. They pureed it so much that it lost all texture and was like a butter. If that was the only thing off, it would be fine. But the other flavors in there just didn't work for me. The sweetness and oiliness that they added were too overpowering that I could hardly taste the liver itself. The bread was great though. - Elk Tartare: 10/10 I'm not the biggest fan of tartare but this was the best tartare I've ever had and the best dish of the night! The sunflower cracker was amazing; it gave a nice toasty nutty flavor that contrasted with the yuzu underneath. I love all the different textures going on in this dish, which is why I like it better than other tartares which tend to be only chewy/slimy/wet. - Maitake: 8/10 Cooked really nicely. Perfectly crisp and flaky. Just a little too sour for me. - Okra: 7/10 The Gouda sauce was interesting but the okra itself was nothing special. It was nicely roasted and charred. - Pork chop: 6/10 As the main dish of the night, this was quite disappointing. No interesting flavors whatsoever. You can't really taste the chamomile dusting unless you lick it directly. The jowl that they spread on top didn't taste like anything distinct. In fact, I didn't like the texture of it because it was crunchy in a way that felt like I was crunching through little bits of tiny bone... - Basque cheesecake: 9/10 The dessert rounded out the evening nicely. Solid cheesecake. No complaints. Service: Honestly too "attentive" to the point that it was annoying and disruptive. They would interrupt us every 10 minutes it felt like. And the food came out pretty slowly.

Personally main dinning space looked dark so bar was ideal. We tried 4 different types of specialty cocktails, if you come at happy hour they are $3 off. These are craft cocktails, extremely extremely delicious. My favorites were the cocktail with beet and the cocktail with coconut and turmeric. Food was fantastic!! I loved how they served it in waves and not all at the same time. It felt more like a culinary experience. We had the cucumber salad which is a must. Followed by corn, which is good and totally unlike anything I've ever had before. Then the red fish which was sooooo good. Then the pork shoulder with coconut rice and together that was to die for. Plus the salt and vinegar potato's which I'd gladly have as a snack anytime. So so good!! Would come back honestly every week if I could!

Parking: Tons of parking here surprisingly, both a paved lot and a pebble lot. We had a reservation for 3 at 7PM and were promptly seated at a booth after a small line of people. Order-to-Appetizer: 15 Minutes Order-to-Entrees: 30 MInutes For three people, we ordered: Dairymaid's Cheese Board (4/5): Comes with four cheeses, five small pieces of sourdough, honey-spritzed grapes, green Granny Smith apples, and fava beans. I wish they gave us more bread with the cheeses and preserves. The four cheeses provided were slices of a five-year aged Cheddar, Oveja Anejo, Tomarashi, and Gruyere. I enjoyed the Tomarashi the most. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but very sharable and a great starter. Shady Acres Pizza with prosciutto (3.5/5): I really don't like getting thin crust pizza that isn't crispy, and unfortunately this was a soggy thin crust pizza. The toppings themselves were very flavorful, and the end parts were crispy enough. 5 Cheese Calzone with chicken (3.5/5): Whew, five cheeses makes for a salty calzone. The side marinara sauce provides a good balance. It's very filling. Chicken might have been a good addition because prosciutto might have made it too salty. It was larger than expected which was nice for sharability. Service was kind of iffy. They were pretty rude with not providing us utensils and seeming almost angry that we asked for some for the cheese board. They mixed up our order (we asked for chicken on the pizza and prosciutto on the calzone and they flipped it) and seemed almost apologetically serving us afterwards. Overall, would recommend as a relaxed date spot at a reasonable price. I paid via inKind and applied referral credit with no issues. Would come back with inKind credit, probably not at full price.
