We stopped by for happy hour, which runs from 3-6 PM, and it was the perfect way to unwind after work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space was nice and stylish.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks were delicious and definitely hit the spot. The bartenders gave great recommendations. Another bonus was how easy parking was. The location is also great since there are plenty of other restaurants and bars within walking distance, making it easy to continue your night out. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stop by again for happy hour.

Stopped at IKTO around 6:30pm for a cocktail before going dinner in the Heights with some friends. There was one couple sitting at the bar but other than that we had the place to ourselves. The bartender was extremely friendly and helpful when we were on the fence about getting a Peanut Butter Carajillo and let us try the PB liquor before committing to the order. Cocktails were great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I imagine the bar has much better vibes later in the evening when there is more of a crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Oysters, dumplings, green beans, wings, and steak fries. Cocktails are the Porn Star Martini and Algo Tranqui.

This place is one of my favorite places to take my friends and have a drink and nosh. Cocktails are amazing as well as the food. The Algo Tranqui cocktail is such a tropical surprise (don't let the presentation fool you) and the Porn Star Martini is my go to cocktail. Food does not disappoint at all, have the raw oysters, burger and fries, wings, popsicles, green beans, sweet peppers, dumplings, etc... etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place is small yet tidy and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is friendly, casual and super laid back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Back ground music is a bop and not too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere for conversation and catching up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is a very small parking lot so parking is limited. I love this place even though I don't know the owner. (Wink)

10/10, no notes. So good. Incredibly underrated. Happy hour? Amazing. Service? Amazing. A friend and I sat at the bar, great prices for HH including food and cocktails. Our servers/bartenders were so funny, kind and just charismatic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Friday 5PM, and wasn't overly busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In a little suite right in the heights, with free parking right in front. Highly recommend oysters and eggs rolls here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect place for a quick catch up and bite![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We stopped here on an off night in the middle of the week and had a great time. It's definitely not cheap but I have yet to find a cheap martini/craft drink place and compared to the other places, they are actually priced more reasonably for drinks. The service is also a lot nicer here and not at all pretentious like a certain other martini place near Waugh that shall remain nameless.

I love this place. The perfect hidden gem. Their happy hour is the best time to go. My table was full of delicious food and the bill does not hurt your pockets. They also have delicious drinks too. Now I will be honest the raw oysters are nasty but they made up for it will the char grilled oysters. I'm coming back

[[HIGHLIGHT]]IKTO is such a festive and cozy spot with its Christmas decorations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bar snacks were surprisingly good too, the mini eggrolls, dumplings, and sweet peppers were all delicious and perfect for sharing. They seriously make some of the best mocktails I've ever had, very balanced, creative, cute and just as satisfying as a full cocktail. will definitely will back for another date night.

Food was delicious!! Drinks were on point! Service was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was a cute bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Bye Bye Birdie. Sooooo good!

So fun! Great drinks and the oysters (grilled and raw) were delicious! Service was great! I asked a lot of questions and the bartender was so kind and so patient. We would come back! My favorite was the Bye Bye Birdie although the Whale or Dragon was a good first drink to start off with. My husband enjoyed the O.F. Wished we could have been there in time for Happy Hour (everyday 4-6PM with 50% off cocktails). It's ok, still very much worth it and already telling my friends about this place, because I want to come back!

I stopped by IKTO on a Wednesday evening. Located in The Heights, they're located in a shopping center and I didn't have any problems finding a parking spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance (4/5): This is an area where IKTO (I Know The Owner) shines. It's a trendy spot with modern furniture and nice decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, while everything looks nice, most of the seats are quite uncomfortable. They're barstools with barely any back support so you're going to be hurting in an hour or two.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]All in all though, the ambiance is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service (4/5): Even if you sit at a table, you're supposed to order at the bar. There was only one bartender working while we were there so it was a bit slow at times. However, she did a great job without any support. She was friendly and even brought our drinks to the table after the first round. Nice touch. Drinks (4/5): The bartender told us that all of their cocktails are made from scratch. And this is what they're know for. They have a nice list of craft cocktails. Some of the drinks look a little prettier than they taste, but overall, solid cocktails. I had Bird's the Word and I also tried the Asian Pear Martini. Food (3/5): The menu consists of mostly appetizers/tapas. While I thought it was a Mexican restaurant, it's actually a fusion restaurant. You'll see Venezuelan, Mexican, and Asian influences. The left side of the menu is seafood. The right side of the menu is meat. We had a nice variety including the tequenos, yucca fries and tostones, pork dumplings, crab fingers, and mini shrimp eggrolls. Overall, the food is about average. With that being said, the portion sizes are a bit small so the food items are overpriced. If you're looking for a bar with cool vibes, small bites, and a focus on craft cocktails, IKTO is worth trying. I love their name too, that counts for something.

We had a great time here - delicious drinks, friendly service, and good food as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is very cute inside with a gorgeous bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorite drinks were the Asian pear martini, whale or dragon, and Thai tea sour. Will definitely be back.

I was in town for the Houston Rodeo and this was one of the places I wanted to check out. We came at the perfect time because the place is very small and I can see if getting packed easily but we were the only ones there. We were serviced very quickly and I believe the lady behind the bar was the owner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor in this place is gorgeous, everything is deforested with care and the colors, etc. give such a sophisticated vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the shrimp egg rolls , crab claws, lobster rolls, lychee martini and a blueberry margaritas. Everything was amazing, I especially loved the crab claws and the buttery bread they came with. They used this same bread for the mini lobster rolls. They called everything "bar bites" and they were the perfect tasting portions. The drinks were also amazing, perfectly crafters and quite strong. I am so glad I was able to check this spot out in my visit to Houston.

A hidden GEM. We went about 30 minutes before happy hour ended and all I can say is it was such a fun time! From being truly engaged by the staff to the tapas presented SO worth it. The food was hot and fresh and happy our deals were worth it. We had such a fun time and I would highly recommend this to a small group. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sitting at the bar is the best choice![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved to see all different types of aesthetics around but everyone was so nice as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff truly make your dining experience elevated to the next level!

So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

Naturally, if we hadn't shown, we would have been charged in full. However, when we arrived right on time, we were informed the event had been canceled. Apparently, a text was sent. Equally apparently, none of us received it--nor did at least three other couples standing there having the exact same delightful surprise. The double standard was...impressive. The hostess was apologetic but clearly overwhelmed and not exactly presentation-ready (stained shirt, visibly frazzled), which didn't inspire much confidence that this was an isolated hiccup. The proposed solution was to seat us in the bar--with the added charm of a strict "out by 8:00" timeline. A bold recovery strategy for canceling a prepaid experience at the last minute. We ordered the Clarkwood gin and tonic and a lychee martini--both recommended--along with a charcuterie board. Neither drink made it to the finish line. The martini leaned aggressively sweet, and the gin and tonic featured fruit-infused ice that sounded creative but tasted...confused. It also arrived in a shade of neon blue that felt less "craft cocktail" and more "science experiment." The charcuterie board was, somehow, the standout disappointment. The almonds were oily, the meat had those telltale dried edges of something that's been sitting out too long, and the accompaniments included what appeared to be Wheat Thins and plain animal crackers. It was an unexpectedly nostalgic trip to a child's snack drawer--just not one anyone asked for. Overall, this might pass as a novelty stop for a 21 run looking for something flashy, but between canceling prepaid reservations, questionable communication, and execution that missed the mark at every turn, it's difficult to find a compelling reason to return.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!
