I had a wonderful experience dining at Songkran on a Saturday evening for dinner. This was my third time visiting this establishment but the prior two times were for lunch. I was greeted at the entrance by friendly staff and was asked if I preferred to sit closer to the entrance or towards the back. I chose the seats deeper into the restaurant because it was a humid day and I wanted to keep my distance from the front door. We were promptly seated and here handed the menus. The menus must have been hot off the press because they were in very good condition. We proceeded to order two entrees (date night with the wife) and the food came out rather quickly. The flat rice noodle (pad si-ew) with beef is one of my go to dishes at any Thai restaurant. The one here was very good! It came out hot, presentation was nice, and the portions of beef were very generous. We also ordered the tofu yellow curry and it was delicious. The tofu was fried very well - so well that it kept up its crunch despite being soaked in the yellow curry. We got spice level 2 of 4 and it was perfect. The waiter called it "mild" but I would say closer to medium. Maybe mild for Thai food. Anyhow, no regrets and we devoured the yellow curry which also came with a side of rice. By the end of dining experience we were so full that we unfortunately did not have room for dessert. All in all, a great experience and we will be back for sure. Given that it's Uptown which generally means pricier food options, I thought the dishes were all fairly priced. The parking is plentiful but when it's busy time like Saturday night, you may have to park further away. Enjoy! read more

I have been here before, I order an entree asked for "chopped chicken" for my meat. Just had dental surgery the waiter said absolutely not...He said the "kitchen" refused to do that, although he never asked either.. When on the menu they served ground/chopped chicken lettuce wraps. He said the kitchen would not do that?? So either waiter was not telling the truth or lazy don't know but ordered my food. Crazy thing is I was the one that suggested to go there.. More places in town that would want the business more accommodating... Will not return.. read more

I've driven past this restaurant and heard people rave about it for years, so I finally decided to give it a try--and they were absolutely right. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the yellow curry completely won me over. It was so flavorful that I could honestly eat it every day. I also loved the lunch special, which came with soup and salad and made for a really satisfying meal. While I do think it's a bit pricey for Thai food, the quality of the food makes it worth it. I'd definitely come back. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I called ahead and was told they closed at 8:00 PM, so we drove all the way there based on that information. When we arrived at 7:25 PM, we were told by an employee that they were closing early and could no longer serve us. If the business is going to close early, customers should be informed beforehand, especially when they've called to confirm the hours. It was a frustrating and unnecessary trip, and unfortunately, this experience was very unprofessional. I won't be returning. read more

This restaurant is located in uptown park and the ambiance is very elevated with elegant decor. Parking on a Saturday evening can be a little tricky and you may need to park far away from the restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and the staff was very diligent and always made sure our water was topped off. I was able to choose from 4 levels of spice and I decided to go with 2/4 because I was scared that Thai spice would be too spicy for me. I ordered the flat rice noodles with beef, and I was very impressed with the amount of beef and the ratio of meat/vegetables/noodles were perfect. The noodles were chewy and texturally pleasing, and the dish was well prepared. The yellow curry with tofu was extremely flavorful and the amount of spice was perfect for me. The tofu was battered and fried and held up well in the curry. My diagnosis: excellent Thai food in an upscale setting. read more

Songkran Thai Kitchen . If you're craving elevated Thai food with bold flavors and beautiful presentation, Songkran Thai Kitchen in Uptown Park is such a solid pick! . We tried a mix of their soups, noodles, rice dishes, and mains -- everything was super flavorful, aromatic, and clearly made with care. The sides and sauces really stood out and tied each dish together so well ‍ . It's definitely on the pricier side, but you can taste the quality in every bite. Perfect for a nice dinner out, date night, or when you want Thai food that feels a little more upscale . #HoustonEats #HTXFoodie #ThaiFoodHouston #UptownPark #HoustonFoodies read more

Went to Songkran Kitchen for lunch around noon with a group of seven. Parking was a bit of a challenge and we had to park farther away, but we made it work. We sat outside and the service was great because our waitress was super attentive and friendly throughout. We shared the heavenly beef as an appetizer, and all of our lunch specials came with salad and soup, which was a nice touch. I ordered the basil Thai fried rice. While the flavors weren't as bold as I expected, I asked for the highest spice level and they definitely delivered on the heat. Overall, a solid lunch spot and I'd come back to try other dishes on the menu. read more

went here a couple of times. each time i got the same experience. the waiters were friendly and attentive. the inside artwork is very pretty to look at. the food is pretty good! i can't handle spice so i order things with the lowest of heat added and i'm still able to eat and enjoy it. the desserts are also tasty. overall this is a nice place to go to if you're someone that can't handle full on spicy thai flavors. read more

On Saturday, August 29th at 5:15pm, the female manager (tall woman) not sure if she was a host but appeared to be more like the manager was extremely RUDE. Greeted with indifference and complete disrespect. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in. She greeted us with a dismissive, "Can I help you?" in a tone that made us feel as though we didn't belong there or weren't there to have dinner. We were then immediately asked if we had a reservation, which felt unnecessary given that the restaurant was extremely empty, only about three tables were occupied, and the entire patio was available. What made the experience even more disappointing was that, despite the restaurant having so much open space, we were seated directly outside the bathroom. There were plenty of other tables available, so the choice of seating felt particularly intentional and unwelcoming. It wasn't the lack of availability that was the issue, it was the way we were treated. A simple, warm greeting and a little consideration in seating would have made a completely different impression. Unfortunately, I bringing an out of town guest to a place I normally enjoy but the interaction with the head manager left us feeling unwelcome, and it overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable dinner. Customer service starts the moment a guest walks through the door, and this experience missed the mark. I will never return and if I knew her name I'd state it, read more

Highly recommend! Great ambiance and good customer service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars because it would be great if the afternoon happy hour was longer than 5-630pm and the waiter never mention all martini's is apart of the Monday Martini special. My favorite is lemon drop, it was not listed on the menu or told to us verbally but overall the food was delicious. I will definitely return read more

Songkran is a casual Thai restaurant in Uptown Park. My friend and I visited together after I heard many of her rave reviews. The dining space is intimate and comfortable with dim lighting and decorate murals. They have a great happy hour menu with well priced appetizers and cocktails, but we stuck to entrees. The dining room wasn't too crowded on a weeknight, so our food arrived quickly. I tried the pad see ew with chicken, and it was delicious. The flavors were bright and the veggies were fresh. Overall, I thought it was a great dish and would visit again if wanting Thai food in the Uptown area. read more

I'm here for my birthday and let's just say this place is amazing! We've only had appetizers so far! Calamari, ceviche, and soft shell crab! All of which have been DELICOUS! I'm pausing here to wait for my food! The server is and the ambiance here, has also been amazing! It's great weather today so we're sitting outside! Great, great vibes! Crab fried rice was delicious, the drunken noodles were slightly overcooked, but still, the flavor was bomb! But overall 10 out of 10! Dessert! No words read more

This place has pretty good Thai food. I got the drunken noodles and they were pretty flavorful. The salad and soup as a complementary were not as a good as other Thai places I've had - the sauce was just different. However, we didn't mind since the food we ordered were pretty good. The service was pretty fast, we got our food a few minutes after we ordered. Luckily we went on a weekday during lunch so it wasn't too crowded. The vibe is pretty nice as well. The dinner prices look pretty pricey so I recommend going there for lunch for their lunch menu!! read more

It was our first time at Songkran and it did not disappoint. You might not agree with this, but I have a whole thing where I judge a Thai restaurant based on their Thai tea. The second it hit the table, I could already tell it was going to be good. The color was perfect, and the flavor was even better. We ordered the beef satay to start, then got the drunken noodles with chicken and the yellow curry. Everything was super flavorful and cooked just right. We sat outside, and the service, the vibe, and the food all came together perfectly. I'll definitely be back! read more

If you are going to wander into to a place just looking for a great drink, this is the place. We had about an hour before another event and had walked by several times so we decided to try it. Glad we did. Creative drink menu, happy hour and perfect snacks made us wish we had more time. Our bartender had all the things, personable, great conversationalist, and an excellent drink maker. I highly recommend his Butterfly Blush. Decor certainly made you feel the Thai vibes. We tried the pork dumplings and fried tofu with sweet chili sauce at the bar. Needless to say we now have to come back and try more of the menu. read more

Came here for a lunch before heading to the airport. My date's favorite Thai place in Houston! We had the papaya salad, which was so fresh and had the perfect kick to it. Delicious pad see-ew, and also massamun curry! They had a martini special going that day and the lychee martini was the perfect sweet companion to the savory and spicy Thai food. My only complaint is that the mango with coconut sticky rice is served with a ton of dairy- condensed milk and ice cream. Wish we could have gotten a traditional mango with sticky rice with coconut milk, as I am lactose intolerant. I will definitely be back though! read more

Went during lunch. This is my second time here. Don't recall being impressed the first time with service and flavor. But was nearby and decided to give it another shot... Do not get the salad and soup the lunch comes with. There is nothing Thai about it..not even the sliced and fried wonton crisps. The dressing tastes mayo based and sweet and the soup is more like minestrone. So odd and flavorless. read more

In Thailand, you find food everywhere--from humble street vendors and sketchy-looking (but delicious) holes-in-the-wall to tourist magnets and sleek, "traditional" Thai restaurants like The Blue Elephant (whose sauces you'll find at Central Market, by the way). Well, Songkran--that's Thai New Year, for the uninitiated--is definitely one of the latter: a pleasantly Americanized, upscale restaurant that doesn't pretend it's a roadside shack. Scratch that--it is authentic in flavor, but the portions? Let's just say they lean more Texas than Thai. Thankfully, they don't go overboard with the spice. Their "Thai spicy" is more kill-me-softly-from-Chiang-Mai than Rayong-napalms-your-tongue. The first thing you'll notice is the sheer number of tables packed into a dimly lit space that smells like heaven--if heaven were a wok full of lemongrass, chili, and coconut milk. And if you arrive hungry (which you should), the aroma will start working on your appetite immediately. Luckily, service is swift. The hosts waste no time seating you, and before long, you're halfway to Bangkok via your tastebuds. Personally, I like to sit outside. Yes, it's Houston in summer. Yes, it's humid. But with the city noise humming in the background and the heat wrapping around you like a silk sarong, you could almost be by the river on the outskirts of Bangkok. Now, the duck salad. Oh, the duck salad. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with herbs and spice. It's not just a dish, it's a love letter. Uncle Roger would approve--Haiyaa, no doubt. And for the record: the first time I visited, I was in a wheelchair. The team bent over backwards to make sure I had a comfortable spot and felt at home. Now that I'm walking again, I still get the same warmth and professionalism. That kind of consistency says everything. Final verdict? Five stars. You get what you pay for--and then some. Go. Eat. Thank me later. read more

Ambiance is killer here. Staff pleasant. And Food is pretty good. The soft shell crab came out cool (not warm) however but was fine taste wise. The pad Thai was good. It's one of the Cheapest dish in Thailand. But kinda Expensive here. but hey it's upscale Thai and atmosphere. Got air conditioning even unlike Thailand. Not sure I'd call it authentic Thai. But I was just in Thailand, actually for Songkran, so I'm kinda biased. They got a kids menu too which was nice to see. And best part is kids eat free from 12-3 pm on Saturday and Sunday! read more

Definitely one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Houston! My favorites to get are the pad see ew and the pad thai. I usually get these items with beef and normally the beef comes out pretty tender. The noodles they use for the pad see ew have a good chew to them, and I really like that they put a good amount of sauce in the dish so that the noodles do not come out dry. Typically service is always good, and the restaurant is great for family meals or special events. They have a nice outdoor seating area that is covered, which is great when the weather is nice. Although it is on the more pricier side for Thai food, I always go home with leftovers enough for a second meal and I think the flavor definitely justifies the cost as well. There is plenty of parking around the plaza. read more

Hard to put my words down after I enjoyed a happy-hour meal at Songkran Thai Kitchen. That was a nice improvement from a couple of years ago. I came right at the happy hour and asked to be seated on the patio. There were lots of people in the dining room on that day. Not sure if someone was hosting a party or something. I certainly don't want to mingle with them. The waitress brought me menu and showed me where the happy hour appetizers were but she left out "certain items". So, my selection Baked Curry Potato Puff was not one of them half-off items. Bummer. But okay. It wasn't so puffy after my first bite. The salsa came with it was good. The entrée was Clay Pot Red Curry Crispy Duck "Kang Phet Ped Yang", phew such a long name. The duck was seasoned well and it was crispy when not soaking in broth. There are so many meat pieces in this bowl. It was well-worth a try with the red curry. My drink was just hot water and it came with a wedge of lemon. That was so delightful. Overall, I had a great experience while I earned my airline reward miles. read more

Food: Had the braised short ribs- above average and with the spicy sauce added, excellent. Huge portion for lunch, almost too much food. Nice soup and salad included with lunch. I used to love the food and service from this place. It's been awhile because we moved away. Just stop by and eat there again. Food taste terrible, service is very lacking. Central Uptown Park with ample patio dining option and easy valet or self park options. We came on a Friday right before HH ends and the sampler was a great choice everything was tasty especially the shrimp. Drinks were hit or miss - lychee martini was too sweet for him and I tried something sour which was fine. The mule -not HH -which is the top mixed drink on the menu was underwhelming. The crispy flounder was a winner so flaky and ask for the sauce on the side which is so helpful. The pieces are already cut for you so you have crunchy filets to share. The basil shrimp entree was fresh and oddly did not have anything besides shrimp - so that was unexpected. Waiter was helpful. I'm used to gritty Thai places with really good food. Songkran Thai Kitchen is "she-she fru fru" Thai. Really nice ambiance in upscale shopping center with really good food. On the whole, the food was decent. I wouldn't choose to return on my own accord, but I would be open to eating here again if invited out by friends or for a company dinner. I can't speak highly of the ambiance. Granted, I did not get a thorough assessment of the restaurant. We were seated in the outdoor area in the middle of summer, where there was nothing more than a makeshift fan setup to cool everyone off. The servers weren't rude, but for the price point, I expected them to be more attentive. The food was decent overall: - Yellow Curry: This was the best thing we ate. It isn't the best yellow curry I've tasted, but it was good overall and I don't regret ordering it. The portion is smaller than most Thai restaurants. 4/5. - Pad Kee Mao: This was good overall. Again, not the best I've had but not the worst. 3.5/5 - Fried Rice w/Beef: The fried rice itself was good, but the beef was devoid of flavor. I would not order it again. 3/5. For the area it's in, I knew to expect a premium on price. The restaurant is not terrible, but your money would be better spent going to one of the myriad of Thai restaurants across Houston that offer tastier, authentic Thai flavors, bigger portion sizes, and lower prices. read more
