    Spicy Yellowfin Tuna Tartare
    Anne Q.

Le Colonial, while exuding an elegant ambiance, falls short in terms of its culinary offerings and service quality. The dishes we ordered were extremely disappointing. Seafood Ceviche - The citrus flavor in this dish was very subtle. Adding more citrus flavor would have made the dish more enjoyable. Also, the taro chips that came with the dish seemed stale and lacked freshness. I would rate this dish 2/5. Spicy Yellowfin Tuna Tartare - Despite adding lime juice, the dish was very bland. And the same taro chips lacked freshness and tasted stale. I would rate this dish 2/5. Seabass with "La Vong" Scent - The fish was overcooked and had a rubbery texture to it. The banh hoi in the dish was incredibly stale, and we couldn't even finish a bite. I would rate this dish a 2/5. Vegetarian Crispy Egg Noodles - This is hands down the worst Crispy Egg Noodle dish I've ever ordered. The noodles were more on the stale side than crispy and the sauce lacked flavor. I do not recommend ordering this dish. I would rate this dish a 1/5. Sesame Beef Ravioli - My lunch date found the sesame beef dry and flavorless, and thought the flat rice noodles had an overly thick and rubbery texture. 2/5 rating for this dish. To add to the subpar food experience, our server was incredibly robotic. While he was polite, he lacked any genuine friendliness. He didn't smile once during our entire meal. On top of that, he opened a second bottle of sparkling water without asking if we wanted it. He proceeded to top off our glasses even though they were already half full. When we politely declined the second bottle by stopping him from pouring and expressed our intention to order coffee instead, he didn't say anything and just walked off with the newly opened bottle of sparking water. When we received our check, we noticed that the second bottle of sparkling water was included in our bill. When we inquired about it, he simply replied that it had already been opened, and therefore, we had to pay for it. While I completely understand and even support the idea of servers trying to increase the bill for a larger tip, there's a far more honest and effective approach. I most definitely will not return to Le Colonial.

We came to visit my Mother-in-law and decided to try this place for food this time, not just drinks. Reservations made within an hour of our reservation time, for patio seating. What a great visit! The noise level was perfect, even though the patio was almost full. The server had great timing, as did the food runners! The shrimp and pork rolls, OH MY GOSH! And my Mom can make all these dishes homemade! The spicy shrimp and chicken stir-fry were unique in flavor, though they were both stir-fry. The fried rice was something I could have eaten as my meal!! Now I have to come back and try their Pho!

While on a work trip in Houston, a colleague recommended Le Colonial. This was actually my first time dining alone at an upscale restaurant, and I chose to sit on the patio on a cool November evening. The ambiance inside was lively, while the patio felt calm and peaceful--perfect for a solo dinner. The service was incredible. My server walked me through the most popular dishes as well as his personal favorites, and the meals pictured were his recommendations. I truly have no complaints. The food evoked that familiar "yum" feeling you get when eating at your favorite local Vietnamese spot--comforting, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The ceviche was perfectly balanced in flavor, spice, and seafood, and the piping-hot chicken curry was exactly what I needed on a cool November night. Paired with a lychee martini, it was the perfect meal. Definitely a spot to try if you're in or shopping around River Oaks.

Le Colonial - Houston continues to sling great food, with great service and excellent atmosphere. Every time I've been here all the choices are very tasty and filling. Le Colonial is an elevated experience to most general vietnamese eateries and there will be an elevated cost to cover for the location and overall vibe. The downstairs area, with patio seating along with upstairs seating that includes a more secluded patio area allows for a variety of choices depending on the size of your party to choose from. The overall design and aesthetic really add to the nice vibe and of course I've found service to be excellent. No to the food, there are a lot of typical Vietnamese dishes you can choose from where you can't go wrong. The Cha Gio Crispy Shrimp & Pork Roll, Banh Cuon CHICKEN & MUSHROOM RAVIOLI are must try from the small plates items. The large plates menu definitely go with the Cari Ga CHICKEN CURRY, Bo Luc Lac SHAKING BEEF, and the Ga Xao Gung GINGER-GLAZED CHICKEN CLAY POT are a must try. Regardless, you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The drinks are solid and for sure try out their Leechee martini too. Definitely add Le Colonial - Houston to one of your regular spots on your culinary list.

I'm writing this review post food coma from my dinner at Le Colonial! We started with a lychee martini and an old Cuban, both made perfectly! For starters, we had the chicken dumplings and tuna tartare. I could've done without the tartare just because it was classically made, nothing overly to die for. For my main, I got the salmon and the flavor was PERFECT. the broth and the salmon were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was attentive and very responsive. I'll definitely be back for sure!!

The interior was cute and service was good, but I did find the food and the drinks to be a bit underwhelming. We came for dessert in teatime and the Vietnamese coffee was quite bland. The desserts were pretty good but the serving sizes were small and flavors weren't super unique.

five stars across the board ! service, ambiance, food, and drinks were stellar ! i was seated upstairs in the little balcony room. which was very cute! the only thing is we ordered the fried snapper, and our table was too tiny for the fish to rest upon the table. so they had to leave the serving tray, which was accommodating. the server in the balcony room was exceptionally kind and overall sweet. she was cheerful and pleasant! definitely an all-star server. we had the whole fried snapper, white rice, green beans, and the tartar... would definitely order everything AGAIN! bonne appétit friends

The ambience , service and food and of course the amazing lychee martini. Very upscale Vietnamese restaurant.

After reading the reviews for this place, all I can say is--my sentiments exactly. Don't get me wrong, the food was great, but the service fell far short of my expectations, especially considering the restaurant's reputation, location, and cuisine. We had a reservation on a Monday evening and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant's ambiance definitely captures colonial Vietnam, with an elegant atmosphere downstairs. If you make the trek upstairs to the restroom, however, you'll feel like you've been transported to an island in Vietnam--the space is more colorful and relaxed, with lounge seating compared to the downstairs. To start, we ordered the Lychee Martini and Green Makrut Gimlet. Both were true to their descriptions--the martini had an earthy, slightly citrusy profile and was well-balanced. For our entrees, we had the shaking beef, signature fried rice, and snow crab and prawns. The shaking beef, in my opinion, was more of a salad with a side of caramelized filet mignon. The filet itself was delicious, but for a "large plate," I expected a bit more. No biggie, though--we still ate every bite. The snow crab and prawns arrived in a saucy garlic butter, with perfectly cut snow crab claws that went on top of a grilled, buttered baguette. For the rice, we requested shrimp instead of sausage, and it was great. The lemongrass flavor really came through, and I especially liked how the chicken breast was cut and incorporated into the dish. Overall, everything complemented each other well, and the meal itself was fantastic. The biggest disappointment? The service. Our waiter was practically non-existent. He took our order in a monotone voice, offered no recommendations unless asked, and didn't check on us at all. There was no warmth, no engagement--just someone going through the motions. We were celebrating my dad's birthday, so I was excited to order a special dessert for him. The kitchen did an incredible job, presenting a beautiful plate with "Happy Birthday" written on it. But instead of making it a moment, our waiter simply set it down and walked away--just another task to check off. For a fine dining establishment, I expected more than just great food. The experience as a whole should feel special, and unfortunately, the lackluster service took away from that.

I've been to Le Colonial several times, the food and service are always consistently good. Lovely atmosphere indoors, love the decor especially upstairs. Parking is easy with at a nearby public parking garage.

5 Stars, the best lunch I've ever had, period. Let me start by saying: I am not easily impressed. But Le Colonial? A masterclass in experiences. From the moment you walk in, it's giving elevated vintage beauty. Clean lines, lush details, and this quiet confidence that says, "We've been luxury." The ambiance alone could heal your nervous system. Now, the food. I could write a dissertation. The tartare melts in your mouth like poetry, perfectly seasoned, sitting gracefully on guacamole with a little crown of caviar. Whoever came up with that combo deserves a raise and a round of applause. The shaking beef? I don't even have the words. I've had good beef before, but never that. Tender, rich, balanced, somehow light but deeply satisfying. It's giving "I didn't know I was hungry for this kind of excellence." The plates were stunning, the service was impeccable, and everything felt intentional. You leave full but not heavy, happy but not overwhelmed. Just... restored. This was, without question, the best lunch I've ever had. And I will not be explaining any further. 10's across the board in excellence, hospitality, food and beverage.

The star of the meal, my pho! Loved the red jalapeño.

Special, immersive experience and personable staff. The decor is snazzy and the lighting definitely sets a mood. Cocktail was delicious, we started with the fresh spring rolls (bland - would not order again) and I had the pho soup. I'd never had a gourmet version of pho and that was so fun. I've had a lot of pho in my life! I consider myself a connoisseur. The soup was complex and all the elements perfectly cooked. The only thing was the broth was overly sweet, and I would have appreciated a white bowl so I could have better seen the color of the broth. We had a seasonal dessert that had great texture and flavor. Loved the green tea ice cream. I greatly appreciated the experience! Had to knock off a star due to the appetizer but other than that, stellar restaurant.

The fancy dinner spot we went to let us down with bad music and horrible drinks and this spot made the night so much better. I got on Yelp and found Atlas which was a short drive from where we are. It is in a big strip of businesses that share a parking lot. This particular place offers valet but there is plenty of parking a short distance from the front. Customer service was cool. Our waitress checked in on us frequently and was really nice. It was karaoke night so there was a lively DJ that kept the crowd interested. It was a weeknight so we knew the late hour crowds were going to be light. The bar across from here had zero customers and were trying to get people in. Atlas on the other hand had a small, but lively crowd. The first thing that stood out to me was the large patio. It had alot of seating with a huge screen playing basketball. I would totally come back just for the patio on a gameday. Inside was a small space with a bar in the middle and a DJ booth off to the side. I will say the booths were super tight and was snug for the guys in the group. Our petite ladies fit in but felt it was a little restricting. The younger crowd around the lounge were sitting on top of the seats. I guess that's what the cool kids do. After paying outrageous prices for mediocre drinks at dinner, this place was very refreshing with good drink specials and drinks that were properly made. I took advantage of the gin and tonic special they had that night. The drinks came out in cool, light up glasses. We didn't stay super long but enjoyed the time we were there. Drinks were good and we got to shake our booties a little. I don't frequent alot of clubs or lounges these days, but I wouldn't rule out coming here again.

It was $10, which isn't terrible, but still something to keep in mind. The weather was too nice to pass up, so we grabbed a spot on the patio and the vibes were definitely there. Our server was super sweet, but it did take a little while to get her attention since it was pretty busy. Not a huge issue though--other staff members were helpful whenever we needed something. Food? No complaints at all everything was good. The hookah was okay--we've definitely had better, but it still did the job. They also came out and sang happy birthday to our girl, which made the night feel extra special Overall, good vibes, good food, and a fun birthday celebration. I'd come back!

Cocktails such as ol fashions and cape cods are plentiful here. I also appreciate they do a new york sour here which is an underrated cocktail. Cigars are sold here too and they have cutters and plenty of torch lighters to spark them up. Outside on their patio deck has plenty of seating with some of those heaters in case you houstonians can't handle the cold. Only gripe is I wish they had a larger wine selection as they only have bordeuax or a red blend. Not sure if they serve white wines either. But there's wine bars for that. You're here for the hard stuff or a quick beer, maybe a cigar, and definitely a peace of mind. That's what keeps me coming back!

I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening around 7pm. Parking was kind of hard because the…read morerestaurant sits in a parking lot with several other businesses. The restaurant was definitely busy especially the bar. Outdoor seating that day was full as well. We sat at a booth behind the bar which was a nice spot. The atmosphere was intimate and lively at the same time. It took a minute for our waitress to come, but once she came the service was great. Our waitress was Jordan. It was my first time eating at Moxies and she had great recommendations. The menu had great options and a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The prices were decent $20 and up for dishes. I chose the Blackened Mahi Mahi and my friend chose the Steak Salad. The Mahi Mahi was a little overcooked, but overall the dish and its flavors were delicious. My friend loved her Steak Salad. The steak was tender and the dressing was light and spicy. I decided to get dessert and I chose the Toffee Pudding. It was AMAZING! The pudding was moist and not overly sweet to me. I would recommend Moxies for girls night and date night. The service, food, and atmosphere are definitely a reason to come back.
