We came here on a Saturday evening and unfortunately the service was so bad I don't think we're coming back. For starters, after we were seated, it took 30 minutes to even get waters despite us asking for water more than once. Then after the waters came, took them another 10 minutes to come back to take our food orders. A lot of items on the sushi menu were not available, which was disappointing because why have such a large menu when so much of it isn't available, on a Saturday evening, no less? Our table ordered a mix of sushi and Thai dishes. The dishes came out in a completely random order - one entree arrived way before any others, some appetizers arrived after entrees, and all the sushi items arrived so long after the Thai dishes we almost forgot about them. Everything also took forever, with long waits between dishes served. We sat down at 7 and didn't get out of there until almost 10. Then when the check came, there were a number of items on there we didn't even order and had to ask them to take off. It was a mess. As for the food, the Thai dishes were actually pretty good, so it's a shame the service was so bad. The sushi dishes were mostly fine, except the scallop carpaccio tasted like it had turned. I think they should focus more on the Thai dishes instead of trying to also have sushi because Thai is obviously where they shine. The decor of the restaurant was nice, very traditional looking, although the ambiance would have been improved without the live singer. I'm not sure if she was a professional singer or not but she certainly didn't sound like it. Instead, it sounded like a part-time karaoke bar in there. Overall a dismal experience. I appreciate the manager (or maybe owner, not sure) coming over to apologize at the end of the meal but I don't think we'll be back. read more

Checked out Krua recently for restaurant week. It used to be Thai Gourmet, then was some other restaurant, and now it's Krua- a Thai and sushi spot. Ample parking, though on weekends the hooka spot that shares the lot blocks off a lot of spots for valet. Still, shouldn't be a problem to find parking. We went with another couple, and tried a variety on and off the restaurant week menu. Between us we ordered: Yellow curry with chicken Green curry with chicken Khao Soi Tom Yum Chicken Satay Papaya Salad Thai Tea Crème Brûlée Thai Coconut Ice Cream Thai Tea Shaved Ice Cream We found the curry's to be extremely bland. We ordered the yellow curry at a level of "hot", and that was the only flavor profile that showed up. Yellow curry usually had a sweetness to it from the coconut milk, but that wasn't the case here. There was no other flavor to it. Since we did not order the green curry with any spicy, it was just bland. The Khao Soi was nice and flavorful and everyone enjoyed it. The Tom Yum was also missing flavor, and at the same time tasted incredibly acidic. Now I know the lemongrass gives it a citrusy taste but not here, it was just sour. Chicken satay was standard and a good serving size. We all enjoyed our desserts. Overall I'd go back to try their pad Thai or drunken noodles, before making my mind up about giving it a pass all together. I would not order curries here. read more

Krua Wings 4/5 Get the tamarind sauce! I think I had a drumstick or 2 that I found to be a teensy but overcooked, but besides that, these are solid and I'd order again. Chive Cakes 4.5/5 So addicting to eat. These went really fast. I love the texture. Chicken Satay 5/5 You gotta try these. They taste different compared to other Thai restaurants. Different seasoning? Whatever it is, love it. Also, they're juicy! Spicy Garlic Edamame Not gonna rate these, it's good. it's edamame. However, the spicy garlic definitely has a kick. remember, we are at a thai restaurant LOL. Gaeng Poo Bai Cha Plu 4.5/5 This was really good. I never had crab meat in a Thai curry. This was very flavorful, and I loved every bite. Plenty of crab. Comes with rice noodles, but I personally think it wasn't enough. Perhaps I should've ask for more. Based on the food, I would rate it 5-stars. I enjoyed everything I ordered. However, at the end of my meal, I tried to flag down someone 3 times to get the check. It took 30 minutes for us to pay and leave. Nobody checked up on us at the end... The table behind us checked out, and then the server just walked away. The place has a nice ambiance it feels like it transports you into another place. It actually has two sides of the restaurant. There's a sushi bar, bar, and lots of tables. The restaurant is a fusion between Thai and sushi. They have an extensive menu and even a happy hour menu. The service was decent nothing to complain about he explained everything when I got the food and if I had questions about the menu. I tried the sushi on the lunch menu for happy hour. The nigiri was my favorite it had mackerel, Seabream, tuna, yellow tail, and salmon. The salmon roll I had was okay, it was bite sized and easy to eat. The last roll I tried was the otoro roll. Had a spicy pickle taste to it. I also tried a few drinks the yuzu and the dragon fruit one and they were sweet and just right for my palate. I tried the pad Thai and drunken noodles. The pad Thai was very flavorful. The drunken noodles were also good and filled with vegetables. I definitely want to come back here and try other things. read more

This is my first time at Krua, I've come here several times when the name was Thai Gourmet. A friend and I came for lunch and the place was practically empty. The hostess was very friendly. Our waiter was also friendly and attentive. We both ordered the lunch green curry and it came with a salad and for 2 additional dollars I also got a crispy. I enjoyed the curry but I typically do prefer a bit more sauce and this curry was a bit heavy on the zucchini. I think the price was good for the amount of food that was served. On 9/9/2026 I picked up food from Krua After I signed the bill, I find the waiter added $28.00 to my total they cheated in bills and charges. I picked 2 orders of veg egg rolls, one veg red curry, one red curry with chicken,one mossomon curry. I signed the credit card for 101.00. They billed 128.43. Watch out they are dishonest. The food quantity was very small and hardly any chicken. The egg rolls were soggy as they air fryer the egg roll. I will never order food from them. Never to this place again read more

Been meaning to try Krua where Thai Gourmet used to be. There is parking reserved for Krua customers. It is kind odd setup where the restaurant was split into 2. They also offer Thai and Japanese cuisine. We went to the right side which was the small area. Intimate with low lighting. Thought it was nicely decorated and staff was very efficient. It was not busy when we went on a weeknight. Only two other tables occupied. We started with green papaya salad followed by tom yum shrimp and green curry chicken. Our go to dishes in a Thai restaurant. The green papaya salad was decent. We should have ordered medium instead of mild, otherwise, it was good. We really wanted this to be good. Wow! Every bite was sensational. This was my birthday lunch out with family so we all splurged on whatever we wanted. The restaurant is decorated so beautifully. The wait staff, extremely attentive. We are already planning our next visit to Krua as the menu is quite extensive and we have so much else to try. Two of us are vegetarian, but three of ordered vegetarian. I got to taste everyone's dish except the chicken. Appetizer Chive Cake and Papaya Salad were off the charts with the yummy factor. Literally every bite was sooo good. Krua Thai immediately stands out because of its beautiful decor. The exotic wallpaper, rich wood accents, and thoughtful details throughout the restaurant make you feel like you've been transported into a tropical rainforest. Even the bathrooms are impressively designed, with playful forest-themed wallpaper full of animals and detailed woodwork that matches the rest of the restaurant. From the utensil settings to the soft mood lighting at each table, the entire space feels refined, upscale, and very intentionally designed. One of the main reasons we chose this restaurant was because they serve halal meat, which is always appreciated. The food itself was delicious. They try to put their own spin on classic Thai dishes, although the flavors were still fairly similar to what you would find at other Thai restaurants. Still, everything was very tasty. The standout for me was the beef, which had a rich and complex flavor. The shrimp and chicken dishes were also good, but they did not have the same depth of flavor as the beef. My main criticism would be the portion sizes. The restaurant serves individual-style portions rather than family-style dishes, which is fine, but even for individual portions the plates felt smaller than expected. The plates are physically smaller than usual also mostly to accommodate their portion sizes, interestingly, the servers were very vigilant about refilling our water glasses but this was mostly likely because even the water glasses were quite small and needed to be refilled multiple times by servers. Overall, Krua Thai delivers a great dining experience with beautiful ambiance, halal options, and flavorful food. read more

Krua sits where the beloved Thai Gourmet used to stand, but the decor has pretty much been untouched. The new restaurant serves not only an expansive Thai menu but also sushi and Japanese eats too! Happy we went to try it before word gets out, as we enjoyed a peaceful, quiet, and yummy meal even on a Friday night :) The food was delicious! Definitely not cheap, but the quality and presentation were nice. Everything was tasty, but we absolutely loved the crab omelette and Tokyo risotto! ** Crab omelette (5/5)-- never had this before, and it was a huge blanket of crispy fluffy egg studded with large lumps of crab meat. Super tasty :) ** Tokyo risotto (5/5)-- interesting combination of savory and a little sour/funk from the truffle. I liked how creamy the rice was while retaining a bit of bite. The seared tuna on top was yummy as well. Definitely comforting~ ** Beef skewers (4.5/5)-- extra tender and flavorful. Slightly too salty for me and too sweet for MT. I could eat a few plates of these! ** Green curry (4/5)-- a little on the watery side but still flavorful. I liked the variety of vegetables (bamboo, mushrooms, eggplant), but there wasn't much protein. ** Pad Thai (4/5)-- bouncy noodles with lots of flavor. This one mostly tasted sweet for me, but the lime and chili flakes on the side amped up the flavor profile. ** Glass noodle salad (3.5/5)-- beautifully presented and herbaceous, but it was mostly sour and needed a bit more sweetness and salt in my opinion. The noodles might have also been slightly undercooked. Our waiter, Anthony, was sweet and friendly (and our busser constantly refilled our water glasses!). They were able to accommodate our no-spicy request for weaklings easily! The parking lot was packed but there are several reserved spots up front for dining customers as well as a lot the back. Krua for lunch was a great experience. The room is upscale, lots on nice woodwork and decor. I have not seen any other Thai restaraunts with this level of dining decor. The menu is significant and includes a cocktail menu. I opted for the Pad Krapao on the lunch menu, spice level "Hot" not "Thai Hot". The dish was very good, fresh vegetables and not over loaded with sauce. The heat level was closer to mild. I will return and try Thai Hot. I like a good sweat read more

I ordered the Pad Woon Sen, light oil, medium spicy and added chicken tonight. It was so fresh, so aromatic, very moist in a good juicy way with a creamy type of feel to it, earthy, savory and very delicious. The noodles, notes of celery, cilantro, onions, tomatoes etc. were all very good with balance. The chicken was very tender in it too. Great, friendly service. This is a new Thai-sushi restaurant on Richmond. I went around 9:30 pm, which wasn't a busy time, so the server was very attentive and helpful. I visited on the third day of their soft opening. The restaurant feels elegant, like dining in a fine dining space, with beautiful Thai decor everywhere. That evening, I wanted a light dinner, so I tried the sashimi of lean tuna and the madai crudo. Both dishes were fresh and delicious. I also ordered their signature cocktail, the Aris the Red Dragon, to pair with my sashimi. However, I was a bit disappointed with the drink--I could mostly taste lime juice, and it overpowered the gin, which is supposed to be the main spirit in the cocktail. Overall, the freshness and quality of the ingredients were 10/10, and the elegant atmosphere and decor were also 10/10. Next time, I'll definitely come back to try some of the Thai dishes. read more

Our first time here since this Restaurant opened in a very popular old Thai Restaurant location that shut down some while ago. I was so glad we explored Krupa and were very impressed by the staff and the quality of food. The dishes were bang on so authentic and absolutely delicious. The service by our server Nany was impeccable and the overall experience was made delightful by Susan. She checked on us periodically to ensure the food, new plates after each course were coming out on time. The attention to detail, recommendations on dishes, courtesy dessert all made our experience extremely delightful. Excited to see a 75 guest area for private events on the second part of the Restaurant is being worked on. Can't wait to host friends n family here. Simply Superb!!! The prices are steep for average (and smaller portioned) Thai entrees and sushi. The ambiance is somewhat off with a mix of silk flowers and modern decor.
