Came for dinner on a Thursday night. Complimentary Valet parking available- was reasonably quick. We had a private room/group- service was excellent. We had multiple course and everything was absolutely delicious. Highlights are definitely the hamachi, anything with steak, and the nigiri. The flavor profiles on the nigiri were so different and flavorful, the chef came in and talked to us briefly about some of the dishes. Really just an awesome experience and would definitely recommend and come back here.

We came for the Happy Hour Omakase for a birthday and it was a great time. The happy hour menu is a really great deal. Both the service was great with great timing of dishes as well as great food. The omakase and extra dishes on the house would've stuffed us, but we ordered extra and it more than plenty for two people. We love how varied each dish was and unique and hey were in the omakase, it brought so many expected and unexpected flavors with every bite. It was super flavorful. The ambiance is darker and more romantic, definitely a lot of dates and celebrations happening.

Nice high end sushi place; experience was top notch with lots of staff checking in. We got the chef's special, which was a bluefin tuna, and it might have been the best bite of sushi I've ever had; even more than having sushi in Japan. Everything else was pretty good as well but I will be remembering that bite for a long time.

Nestled in the Houston Galleria area Uchiko is an upscale sushi experience with a fresh and flavorful menu! I was met with service immediately upon entry by the hostess. I sat at the bar while I waited for a space in front the sushi bar to become available. They have one of the best Lychee Martini's! The Hama Chilli is my favorite menu item, it's so refreshing and the yellowtail taste amazing! I wanted a unique roll and gave the soft shell crab roll a try and it was delicious with the signature sauce. The eel made for a great appetizer. I love watching the chefs work their magic in the kitchen area so it made for a great solo date night! Perfect for couples, birthdays, or a night out with friends.

This was some of the freshest sushi in all of Houston. We were just next door shopping at Zadok. We used the Uchiko valet as soon as we arrived with no issue. We had a reservation for 6 but showed up early and were seated promptly. I am not a huge fan of eating in dimly lit restaurants so try and get a table near the kitchen if you're like me. We opted for the 10 course Omakase and left entirely too full. They served us so much food that we ended up taking some dishes home. We will be back!

Happy Hour at Uchiko was indeed happy!! The salmon was perfectly seared--crispy on the outside, buttery and tender inside--paired with fresh herbs and a savory miso broth that tied everything together beautifully. Initially the dish came out cold, and our waitress immediately rectified it. The karaage-style bites were crispy, juicy, and addictive. Even the sides were delish. The greens on the salad were fresh and the Brussels were perfectly charred and tossed in a delicious chilli sauce. The and that dessert was bright, smooth, and the perfect sweet finish without being overpowering. Flavor, presentation, and vibe were all on point. Our waitress was amazing. The happy hour menu is such a great way to experience high-end Japanese cuisine without going all in on price.

First the ambiance-- loved the moody lighting and chic furnishings. Vibes were great for a nice dinner out with my college roommates. Then the service- every single person who works here was so kind. Our server was probably the best I've had in a long time. She was just awesome!!! We came for the food and every morsel delivered. I thought how different can sushi be- but every dish was unique. Lovvvved Uchiko!!! Wish I lived closer to one!!!

This place has an awesome lunch menu/happy hour. The service was pretty good and you get complimentary valet and you can make reservations. However, if you make reservations everyone has to be present before you are allowed to be seated. You can wait at the bar until your guests arrive. I liked that they had multiple types of seating and even patio seating. There's bar seating and a sushi bar seating, boothe seating and table seating. My favorite drink was the lychee martini. It has a yuzu flavor so it's a hint of lychee and kinda like a slush of a drink. I enjoyed it. The espresso martini was ok it wasn't the best I don't think they use fresh espresso for their drink. I tried the waygo sando although it was good I feel like it was overpowered by the Beni shoga. I also tried the 3 different fats of the tuna nigiri and my favorite one was the medium fatty (chutoro). It's the only one I felt melted in my Mouth.. the hamachi chili was okay It was more of a citrusy flavor and the mandarin is ok in the sauce but not eaten together with the fish. The hot rock wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be but it cooked really well on the rock and didn't even burn my tongue after heating it up.

When you walk in with a party of 11 last minute, you hope for organized chaos at best. What we experienced was polished precision. Jason, our server, was simply outstanding. He handled our large table with ease -- pacing courses thoughtfully, guiding selections, and ensuring every guest (including several vegetarians) felt seen and catered to. Nothing felt rushed, nothing forgotten. For a group our size, that level of seamless service is rare. The food was Exceptional - simply stated... The nigiri was some of the freshest we've had -- clean, delicate, and beautifully balanced. You can taste the quality immediately. Knowing that much of the fish is flown in daily from Japan makes sense after that first bite. The texture, the purity, the subtle seasoning of the rice -- it's that elevated sushi experience that reminds you why Uchiko stands apart. And then... dessert. Do not skip it. The dessert course was a true finale -- creative, indulgent, and perfectly executed. Each plate was as visually stunning as it was delicious, striking that balance between refined and comforting. It felt celebratory -- the kind of ending that has the entire table passing forks around for "just one more bite." Cocktails were beautifully composed (mine arrived crowned with a dehydrated citrus wheel that felt effortlessly chic), and the overall atmosphere carried that signature Uchiko vibe: upscale, energetic, but still warm. Large group dining can easily go sideways. Here, it felt intentional, curated, and special. Jason elevated the entire evening -- and Uchiko delivered at every level.

I came for their soft opening years ago and even though we've been back many times to Uchi it wasn't until recently that we went back for my Wife's birthday. Ever since moving to the suburbs we don't get to have as many in town date nights anymore so when we do we want them to be special. Uchiko delivered! Their sushi is always fresh and delicious and they have some new inventions that are really mind blowing. On this trip we stuck to some classics uni, engawa (my absolute favorite! Yellowtail, and hot rock. We added some new additions the quail and tiger cry. The tiger cry was a unique addition with it being crunchy and light. For dessert we got the classic fried milk and added in the mochi churros. Wow! The mochi churros might have overtaken the fried milk! The service was always spot on as each dish comes out with a great explanation. Thank you making my wife's birthday another great experience!

Came with a friend for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We made a reservation for 11:30, and when we had arrived it was a bit empty, but by 12-12:30ish it had definitely gotten quite crowded so would recommend a reservation if you're planning on coming during more peak times. I went with the lunch prix fixe menu and chose the hama chili as my starter and the karaage for my main. Both were really yummy. My friend had chosen the salmon for her main, and if you're looking for quantity, I'd go with the karaage. They also had happy hour during lunch so for drinks I tried the nashi g&t and the suburashi (they were out of the lychee martini unfortunately). Both drinks were good as someone who generally prefers sweeter cocktails. If you prefer sweeter I'd go with the suburashi, but the g&t wasn't as alcohol forward as I thought it might be either. There's valet out front or you can park on the roof of the attached parking garage.

Went to Uchiko for their $25 lunch special and it's such a solid deal. We went on a Friday around 12:30 PM, and the experience was great overall. Parking in the garage was easy and efficient and we were seated only after a slight wait even though the place was packed! The lunch special includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert, which is hard to beat especially at this quality. For the appetizer, we got the Hama Chili, which is obviously one of their best dishes ever and never disappoints. BTW, this dish is about $23 on their regular menu so just for this alone is worth it! For our mains, we shared the karate bowl and the burger, and finished with sorbet for dessert. Everything was delicious and well-portioned. Bonus points for the $5 cocktails, which made it an even better lunch outing. The only downside was that the fries and burger were a little on the salty side, which is the only reason I'm not giving a full five stars. Still, an excellent lunch deal with great flavors and value and I'd absolutely come back.

Where do I start??? Have you ever walked in to a consistently slammed restaurant full of happy patrons in a failing economy and they are thriving? That's Uchiko! Every time I come here, they are packed!!! Bustling, and despite having their walk-ins surpass their reservations, and being understaffed, they sure don't show the struggle! They are always hustling while offering incredible, amazing, friendly service and all with a smile! Very communicative if they are running behind and always makes sure that the patron is happy. Replacing plates with new ones when they're dirty, taking empty dishes, offering new beer glasses with a replenished beer orders, and more! They are on top of it and even when they're not, they are quick to own up to it and apologize or find some way of giving complimentary dishes on the house. Most importantly, their service is five stars and they truly go above and beyond for their patrons. This is why I continue to come back. I LOVE that they offer a complimentary palate cleanser before you start your meal! I love coming here and splurging on sashimi, nigiri, small bites, oysters, rolls, and desserts. Here are my favorites here: (in no particular order) - edamame - spicy crunchy tuna roll (makimono) - Hama chili - Kurodai (black bream) - hamachi nigiri - hot rock , if you want to splurge, try the A-5 Wagyu - milk and cereal dessert to finish off the evening This place is one of my favorite places for happy hour too!! A great place for any occasion honestly! I absolutely love this place!

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

I didn't really get to enjoy this dish! Sizzling Steak - we asked for the sauce on the side. But the dish was not sizzling and the plate wasn't even hot. The steak was tender, noodles al dente, but the sauce lacked flavor as well. I couldn't really tell what sauce I was dipping into. The food looked incredible in the reviews, and it really was! However, we were expecting more of a traditional Saturday night dining experience with waitstaff, so we were surprised to walk in and find counter service and a fountain drink machine. My friend initially wanted to leave, but I convinced her we should stay and try it since neither of us had been before. I'm glad we did because the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food did not disappoint. That said, the self-service setup could use some improvement. The process for getting water and dinnerware wasn't intuitive, and we weren't sure where to go or what was available. We ordered the shareable Edamame appetizer, which was delicious, but it didn't arrive until after our entrées, so we had to ask about it which was disappointing because we wanted to nibble on that before the main entree. Interestingly, another table that was seated after us received two or three shareable appetizers soon after being seated & before we received any food at all. When our entrées arrived, we also realized we didn't have any cutlery. We were seated on the patio where there was a nearby station with napkins, spoons, chopsticks, one knife, but no forks. Since we didn't want to eat our bowls with chopsticks, we had to figure out where to get what we needed. For a Saturday night at 7:30pm, this felt like a lack of preparation. I think Loro could significantly improve the experience by having ONE clearly designated self-service station with everything guests need - water, napkins, forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks, etc., and having staff briefly explain the setup to first-time guests. That small change would make the experience much more seamless. Now, the FOOD! My friend ordered the Shrimp Bowl and I had the Steak Bowl. They may not look like much, but WOW, both were incredibly delicious and satisfying. I also tried the Frozen Beverage Flight, which was such a fun treat and a great way to sample the different options before choosing a favorite for the next visit. Despite the service-flow hiccups, the food was excellent, the staff were friendly, and I'd definitely come back. I just hope the self-service experience becomes a little more intuitive because Loro has some seriously good food!

I was greeted at the entrance by friendly staff and was asked if I preferred to sit closer to the entrance or towards the back. I chose the seats deeper into the restaurant because it was a humid day and I wanted to keep my distance from the front door. We were promptly seated and here handed the menus. The menus must have been hot off the press because they were in very good condition. We proceeded to order two entrees (date night with the wife) and the food came out rather quickly. The flat rice noodle (pad si-ew) with beef is one of my go to dishes at any Thai restaurant. The one here was very good! It came out hot, presentation was nice, and the portions of beef were very generous. We also ordered the tofu yellow curry and it was delicious. The tofu was fried very well - so well that it kept up its crunch despite being soaked in the yellow curry. We got spice level 2 of 4 and it was perfect. The waiter called it "mild" but I would say closer to medium. Maybe mild for Thai food. Anyhow, no regrets and we devoured the yellow curry which also came with a side of rice. By the end of dining experience we were so full that we unfortunately did not have room for dessert. All in all, a great experience and we will be back for sure. Given that it's Uptown which generally means pricier food options, I thought the dishes were all fairly priced.
