Went to Hachi for a birthday with the family. As always, Houston traffic is horrible, so we were late, but it was really easy to change the reservation time online. Arrived approximately around 6PM. It was not too crowded, but the room filled as the night went on. It's a small but spacious restaurant. Service was prompt and friendly. We opted for the omakase and we additionally got the koji chicken off the happy hour menu. The omakase is 18-courses, but is not super heavy. It included 3 single bite style appetizers, 13 pieces of sushi, A5 wagyu, and foie gras. Everything was delicious. The appetizers were great bites with good seasoning. The sushi were long pieces with small amounts of rice and already prepped with soy sauce and wasabi, that they recommended eating with your hands. The flavor profiles were great and they also had some seared versions too. The fish was smooth and buttery, no fishy taste, with some great fatty cuts. You don't feel extremely stuffed by the end of it and it is a bit pricy for $165, but overall a fantastic experience. We also got dessert and that was great. Not too sweet. They even gave us a free flan for a birthday gift! The plating is beautiful and service was impeccable. Definitely a must try! Will have to come back and try their à la carte items! read more

They have complimentary valet. When you walk in they have a bar and a long table for groups. When you turn the corner there's a sushi bar and multiple tables and like a hut. The spot That's a hut is for bigger groups or VIP. I sat at the sushi bar and was able to see them Prepare the fish. I tried on their lunch special the oysters, 5 set nigiri which came with a salmon and some white fish and lean tuna. The quality was fresh, smooth, and buttery on some. One of the fish was seared which gave it a smoky flavor. I tried the oysters which were a small size and filled with a spicy and tangy sauce. The chawanmushi had a nice texture and flavor. You can also add foie gras, Uni,. Or crab to it for an additional charge. If You eat it plain then it does have some mushrooms in it. Also tried their scallop which was buttery. The Handrolls were okay. I don't feel like they were packed with flavor. I tried the salmon and crab Handrolls. It seems like they like to give most of their fish a little zesty yuzu flavor and some dishes a little spice as well. The fun experience was the fish Kasugodai where they serve you the sliced meat from the fish and then fry the fish bones for you to eat afterwards. Came here for dinner on Friday night at 6:15pm and the restaurant was not crowded. My partner and I were warmly welcomed by the hostess. The restaurant was dimly lit, which created a great ambience. My partner decided to go for the omakase which consisted of 18 dishes. We started with cold dishes, followed by nigiri, and lastly red meat. The pace was perfect and the dish progression was great. The individual dishes were bite sized, so if you are a big eater, you will need more food after. For me, the quantity was perfect. However, the greediness in me just wanted to try their uni pasta, and truffle Wagyu rice. No regrets! I absolutely loved the omakase and would recommend that for first timers at the restaurant. I would recommend making reservation as the restaurant gets crowded during peak hours. You can go for valet parking or self parking at the garage behind. You will be charged for parking at the garage, however parking is validated. Remember to ask the hostess about it before leaving the restaurant. read more

I came here to try their lunch special (11:30am-3pm) menu after a friend was raving about this place, and it is such a good deal for some quality sushi! Five pieces of nigiri + soup & salad for $25 was a pretty good price, and they also have 7 piece, 3 roll/HR lunch set options as well. The ratio of rice to fish was just right. I also got to try their agedashi tofu, which was served beautifully, and the Japanese melon + a desert that I don't remember the name of but it was probably creme brulee + vanilla ice cream. These were all good, but the nigiri was the main star. Their HH menu also looks enticing, so I will be back to try that! Service was very attentive and the staff were all friendly and accommodating. We came in for dinner with a party of 6. Birthday girl wanted sushi so figured we would give it a try here. It's nice that there is a parking garage for self-parking, parking is validated by the restaurant. There is also complimentary valet. The interior dining area is modern and clean with big sushi bar. We had the nicest seat in the house (aside from the sushi bar), beneath a little wooden structure. However, the noise level was louder than most restaurant we're used to, having to yell to talk across the table. Not sure if this is the norm for their Friday night dinner service. Table service was great, Enma and Alex were attentive with constant refill of water and plate changes. They even sent out complimentary sake toro nigiri for the table and a birthday flan. Some of our dishes were good but nothing that was outstanding. I couldn't tell if MOST of the nigiri and sashimi were fresh since they were drenched with sauces that overwhelmed the fish taste. Here's what we enjoyed: * Botan Ebi - pretty presentation, fresh, well dressed. * Nama Hotate nigiri - one of the few nigiri pieces that were nicely dressed and was really fresh! * Lavender Gin - pretty presentation and tastes great! * Hirame nigiri - also dressed nice, fresh and great texture * Golden Softshell Crab - served warm, cooked well, sweet crabmeat. * Tsubugai - this Japanese whelk was served in a pretty presentation - flaming hot nice broth with picks and spoons to enjoy. My favorite dish of the night. Order only if you like whelk! * Truffle Mix makimono - melt in your mouth bite size pieces. I would skip ordering: * Chawanmushi- lacked flavor. * Uni pasta - ordered two and the pasta was overcooked in both! I was so looking forward to this dish and was very disappointed. * Sake & Himachi sashimi - well presented but completely drenched in sauce, never knew it was possible to ruin sashimi! * Sakura Masu nigiri - overpowered with sauce, could barely taste fish. * Tarabagani nigiri - please don't drown my $24 piece of nigiri in sauce. Please remove the cartilage so I'm not having to pull it out of my throat after swallowing it halfway. * Matcha Flan - this deceptive name made us think the flan was matcha flavored but it's not, just served with matcha ice cream. We got two of them and they were both frozen in the middle. The food service was spotty, took a while for dishes to arrive. There a 20 minutes lapse in service between sushi pieces, even though we ordered everything together after the initial appetizer order. Our servers apologized and explained the sushi bar was running behind. We arrived at 7 PM but didn't leave until 10 PM, that's how long it took to get our food. I went here on a surprised date and it was so good. The ambiance had a personal feel to it. There were friends meeting up there, family meeting up there, and it was also great for a romantic dinner as well. We arrived Friday evening and parked in a garage close by. It is free to park, you just have to show your parking ticket to your waiter/waitress. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us with all our questions. We started off with 1/2 dozen raw oysters. These were very good. And then we tried a couple small plates. These hikari hotate was amazing. It was a special. I love scallops and this was a raw dish and it was so refreshing, I felt lucky as I heard they had just added this on that week. The toro foie gras was a chef selection but honestly I think the fried chip that held the sushi through me off. It was okay. I tried their sake toro fatty Scottish salmon and that was really good too. Top notch and savory! Just melted in my mouth. For the main meal we decided to just makimono (rolls). These were great and filling. We got: Wagyu kabayaki Truffle mix Sunset scallops They were all unique in their own way. My boyfriend really enjoyed the wagyu kabayaki and my favorite was sunset scallops. At the end we were gifted a set of nigiri kampachi- amberjack. That was very sweet of them. I came here to meet a friend from out of town for lunch, who was in the galleria area. This was on a Monday. Upon entering the area, there's complimentary valet out front and a nearby parking garage that's in walking distance. The place has a nice, intimate ambiance. It was not crowded and perfect for a 2 person meet up. For a place like this with a signature menu, I went for the chef's choice combo and selection to try out fish that I usually don't try. The lunch special also comes with a miso soup, salad, and hand roll. Everything was fresh and really good. There was one fish that was buttery to taste. Loved it and wish I could remember the name. (madai may have been part of the name?) It was different than the usual yellowtail and salmon for me. Sea bream was also new to me and tasty too. The other surprise was the crab hand roll. It had this flavorful, crunch and the crab was fresh with a slight sweetness to it. That was a great rec by our waitress! Between my friend and I, we also ordered other items to share. The yellowtail crudo was refreshing and we especially love the eggplant nigiri. When it first got to the table, it reminded me of unagi (eel) but it wasn't. The pairing of the eggplant with the sweet, salty umami caramel sauce - so good! I could probably order like 10 of these. For a drink, I got their lychee mocktail. It tastes like lychee in a glass. If you don't lean towards sweet, don't get it. As for dessert, we tried the Japanese Musk Melon. It was like eating a cantaloupe, infused in its own juices. Each bite was so saturated in its own natural juice, that it was like eating the perfect, ripe cantaloupe. For us, it was a great ending to all the deliciousness - light, refreshing, and sweet. Highly recommend this place for lunch on a weekday. Ps.) I have visited this spot for dinner, but the experience was different. I had my kid with me. While the restaurant did accommodate to my child's needs and have child seats, I didn't get to enjoy the experience as much as this time so I'm glad to try Hatch again and really enjoy what they offer. First time at Hachi as we wanted to try out a new sushi spot. They have complimentary parking and there is also a parking garage nearby which they also validate. Ambience is great especially for date night and we were just in time for happy hour. We ordered oysters, fried chicken, hamachi chili, Brussels sprouts and five chef choice nigiri set. Everything on the happy hour menu is a great value and the sushi was great quality, my favorite being the otoro which melts into your mouth. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and had a sweet glaze on top. We finished off with dessert with a vanilla mouse with white chocolate and raspberry which was a nice ending to our meal. Staff were also very attentive and helpful with recommendations. Would recommend the happy hour menu and I look forward to trying more hot dishes and their meats the next time I come! read more

First off, Hachi is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with impeccable attention to detail and customer service. From the complimentary valet, to throughout our entire dining experience, the staff created a really awesome evening. Since this was my wife's birthday, we opted for the omakase. Being that it's an omakase, I will not drag you through a play by play of each piece. All I will say is that every piece was great, with many being even spectacular. It was completely worth the price - not something I can say if every omakase. Their food was so good and their menu so unique, we are actually eager to return to try things off the regular menu à la carte. Admittedly I did not ask why they are called Hachi. First time, won't be the last. We arrived at 6pm for a birthday dinner and the dining room was quiet with just a few tables sat. Our server Vincent greeted us and was a great help in navigating the non-nigiri part of the menu. We started with a crudo, hot rock and gyoza. These are mentioned in order of the table's preference. Nigiri was excellent and featured an excellent fish to rice ratio. I feel some spots are heavy on the rice, which mutes the fish. Not here. In some instances, you couldn't see the rice under the fish. Everyone at the table agreed. Stand out pieces were: engawa, kin medai, ensui uni, akami with a caviar bump, botan ebi, hottate and kanpachi Vincent kept the night going with a birthday dessert and when we were leaving, the dining room was buzzing and full. We are regulars at Kata Robata and Uchiko along with their more upscale restaurants Katami and Uchi. Hachi is now in the rotation. read more

I am writing to share my wonderful experience at Hachi. I recently visited to celebrate a birthday, and everything from the food and service to the ambiance was truly great. I particularly want to mention how helpful our server was; they helped us successfully navigate the menu and were incredibly attentive and quick to respond despite the restaurant being packed. Enjoyed the Hamachi-wild caught yellowtail, Sake Toro-fatty Scottish salmon, and grilled corn to start. Followed up with Sunset scallop and dragon roll. For drinks we had the mocktails.The manager and the rest of the staff were also very attentive throughout our meal. While I didn't manage to capture many photos of the main courses, I did make sure to get a picture of the delicious dessert! Absolutely enjoyed the matcha dessert. Not overly sweet. read more

What a gorgeous place. If you want to wow someone with ambiance and presentation with great service to boot, Hachi is your spot, especially if you lean more traditional when it comes to sushi. High-end Japanese restaurants in Houston have come a long way in the last twenty years. Generally speaking, they first got better at sourcing fish and getting them shipped directly without having to go through Dallas like before. Then, they delved into the details, developing their own voices on the curing of the fish and also the rice - flavors, consistency, amount, which salts, vinegar, kombu to use, etc. I personally also appreciate the earthenware and Japanese glassware switches that were made over time. Then there's the per-piece flavoring. Some restaurant groups that specialize in sushi lean more modern: More flavors layered into the crudo sauce or onto each nigiri, more pop and pizazz of flavors. Some are strongholds in the more traditional: Fish-forward. I place Hachi in the latter group. I didn't order (just flipped through the menu for pics and future reference), so I was truly in for the ride. Still, the standouts were: - Brussels sprouts with a citrus (yuzu?) on it. 6/5. We got four orders for 7 adults and 4 kids. - Chutoro. 6/5. Just. Get it. I liked it better than the otoro. - Half beak sashimi. Was this even on the menu? Stunning presentation with a fascinating texture. 5/5 - Honeycup. I think this is an off-menu item. Try it for the experience. It's smoked in the box. Uni (sweet so I assume Sta Barbara and not Hokkaido) over chopped toro in fried rice paper and a dab of osetra. Inhale it before you take the bite. - Nigiri: Engawa. Hotate. Ikura. - I actually liked the cucumber maki! Good flavor on the rice and tamari. The list above should be sufficient for most groups of 4-6. We were a group of 11. Enjoy! ---- Complimentary valet parking is pretty much your only option so bring cash; I did see a garage but it's far away. Other items ordered I wouldn't get again: - Pork ribs: Very fatty and must've been St Louis ribs. I arrived early since I wasn't sure about the parking situation as I remember many businesses in this area don't have complimentary parking. Luckily there are 2 garages for office building visitors ...and if you park in them they'll do validation for either one. I've been eyeing this sushi restaurant since it opened, and it was definitely worth the visit. Service is great, as expected. Our server was very attentive and also gave great recommendations. The restaurant's tinted windows gave it a moody feel and is perfect for a date night. Although, I highly recommend coming during lunch! To start off, we had the truffle medai, hamachi chili, and oysters. The crudos were good, especially the truffle medai! I love oysters and this might be the best oysters I've had in a while. Out of all the appetizers, I highly recommend their oysters. On the lunch menu, their Chef 10pc nigiri set immediately caught our eye. What an amazing lunch deal! I enjoyed most of what the brought out. The Hamachi Toro just melts right on your tongue. My friend is picky when it comes to white fish, but we both raved about all the white fish nigiris they brought out. I love chu toro, but it was a bit underwhelming here. Maybe it was a bad cut. It did come with a house salad, and a miso soup that was lacking in flavor. Regardless, I would definitely order the 10pc again. We also wanted to try their engawa, foie gras, and uni pasta. Unfortunately, they were out of kinoko. If you never tried engawa before, you need to here. Whenever it's on the menu, I always have to order it. They executed it perfectly. The searing and the rendered fat was *chef's kiss*. The foie gras was a great last piece, I have no complaints. The uni pasta was also good, but I wish the uni-flavor was more pronounced. As for drinks, I had the lavender gin to start. I am a sick for any drinks with egg white. I just love the creaminess. I ended with a kikori mule that had a strong ginger taste - yum! For dessert, we had the Matcha Petit - Beurre. Very creamy and delicious. I would get this again. The only thing I wasn't very fond of was the ice cream on the side tasted like Blue Bell. Just my personal preference. This has become of my favorite sushi restaurants in Houston. I'd like to note that fish to rice ratio made the quality of fish really stand out. As a sushi lover who hits up all possible sushi places in Houston- here I am. Came for the first time to come check out a new sushi place during lunch hours. Surprisingly walked into lunch special menu/ got the 7 piece sashimi and spicy yellowtail roll combo, got the young yellow tail inada sashimi special, wagyu fried rice, and braised short ribs of some sort. Sadly sushi here is pretty average... it wasn't bad but it wasn't good. The wagyu fried rice was in fact disappointing compared to all the other versions of wagyu offered at similar Japanese restaurants. Braised meat was decent. Pretty expansive list of fresh options to choose from. Our waitresses was able to go on for a while listing out the varieties of fish that you could get that wasn't just a standard tuna or salmon. Our experience went pretty smoothly overall, starting from arrival it looks to be valet only with a garage sort of nearby. The space is familiar for a Japanese restaurant in Houston, no dissonance between menu and concept. Pace was good too. We ordered everything up front and they brought out plates such that we always had something to chew on but not overwhelmed ever. Flavors are subtle compared with to some other spots I've been. Nothing was wrong or bad, but for the amount of items we ordered there's was nothing that really stuck with me as I think back. Located in the Galleria area; parking is valet only, which again, is a bummer for Houston. The interior is fairly nice and upscale. Their menu printed on regular computer paper cheapens the experience a bit; there's also a few too many line items on the menu; this reminds me of a more casual neighborhood sushi spot instead of the higher end sushi spot prices that they are trying to command. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly and fairly descriptive with the menu items. We ordered a variety of hot appetizers, nigiri, and rolls for the group. The fried chicken with the mayo sauce was good, although the chicken was slightly dry. The wagyu skewers were fine but definitely not melt in your mouth, like skewers at other higher end sushi spots. The nigiri were fine as expected for the most part; the snapper nigiri with skin left on was extremely odd and didn't taste great. The foie gras nigiri was great, the hotate and geoduck nigiri were good as well but the Uni toast was a bit of an overpriced letdown. The rolls were fine, again, resembling more of the rolls you can find at a casual neighborhood spot. I was not a fan of their sushi rice in general; the texture and mouth feel felt a bit off and amateurish. Overall, it was a solid meal with some highs and some lows. However, at the price that they're commanding, the quality and value proposition didn't quite line up. There's a fair number of sushi spots with similar quality that are better value; in the same vein, at this price point, you expect a much, much higher end experience. I would recommend sashimi over their nigiri and also avoid flashy items like their Uni toast; just get the Uni on rice with seaweed and keep it simple. Decided to do a lunch bday celebration at Hachi and did not disappoint! A friend had let me know that their lunch special was quite worth it and it really was. Janie was our server and she made some great recommendations on what to order as it was our first time. She provided great service and was friendly. Ordered a mocktail first which was the guava punch (it was okay, wish it was a little sweeter). Decided to go with the Chef 7pc Nigiri + Makimono Sushi Lunch set, which also included miso soup, house salad and vegetable tempura. Noteable items from the Chef 7pc nigiri was definitely the yellows tail, salmon and toro salmon. I believe there was also seabass as well. The Toro Salmon was so tender and fresh. Did not even use soysauce, because all the of pieces were individually dressed. For Maki, we chose the spicy yellowtail and eel avocado. I liked that the spicy yellow tail even had a bit of crunch to it as well. The vegetable tempura included sweet potato, pepper, eggplant and a large mushroom. The batter was super light! For extra, we also got the Toro Foie Gras Crudo. MUST GET. Totally just melted in your mouth and it sat on top of a tempura shiso leaf. Gave it that extra texture and bit of crunch. Because we were celebrating a birthday, Janie brought out a complimentary dessert which was a delicious caramel flan and greentea icecream. Perfect sweet treat to end the meal! What a great meal! Really enjoyed the food here even though I can't eat much raw sushi. Despite this limitation, there's still plenty of menu items that I could and did enjoy. The A5 Wagyu nigiri was divine - it was truly 30 seconds in food heaven. The rolls were both very good too, and a standout was the Uni Pasta. It's rich in flavor, creamy, and the noodles are cooked well. A nice gift that we really enjoyed is the Green Tea Shot (Akashi Whisky style) - I'm usually very weary of drinks at restaurants because more often than not the alcohol overpowers anything else in the drink, but this shot was so enjoyable! Not too hard, and had a nice citrus flavor, despite being called "green tea" Service was good and they were quick to take empty plates away. At times the dishes felt a little slow to come out and I'm not sure if that was intentional pacing, or if they were just a bit understaffed. When I went it was busy but not packed. That being said, if you order a decent amount of nigiri, just be prepared to have a longer dinner. Initially I found the paper menus to be cheap, but there were two things I realized; 1. Take the opportunity to mark up the menu! Instead of trying to remember all the pieces of nigiri your table will want, just write on the menu 2. I was made aware that perhaps the menu changes often, so making permanent menus is not practical, which I understand. Came on a Sunday night and was seated right away --always a good start. The interior is modern and chic, giving off an upscale vibe without feeling pretentious or intimidating. We got the wagyu skewers, the bluefin kombu, and the truffle mix makimono, and two sakura masu nigiri to try. The wagyu skewers were incredibly tender and juicy--exactly what you'd hope for with wagyu. The sauce added a savory depth, and the pineapple brought a sweetness and acidity that balanced the richness beautifully. Melt in your mouth perfection. (8.5/10) The Bluefin Kombu was fresh and flavorful with high quality fish and the crispy vegetables, what more can you ask for from a roll. (7/10) The truffle mix was definitely the highlight of the meal. There was a luxorious mixture of yellowtail, salmon, and toro dressed in truffle oil paired with a soy based sauce. Each bite was rich and umami with a hint of freshness from the jalapeno. Definitely a must try! (9.5/10) The sakura masu nigiri were a great recommendation from the waiter. She informed us it a rarer, fattier cut of salmon that was their weekly special. It was very fresh and rich in flavor. If you love fatty salmon you should give this a try. (8/10) The service was super attentive and constantly checked in on our table throughout the night. They also bring you hot towels before you eat to cleanse your hands which was a nice surprise. Parking is in a garage for $2 an hour or complimentary valet. If you are looking for a new some high quality sushi in the loop, Hachi is worth a try. read more

We had dinner here on Saturday night for a celebration. Our table was by the window, which was nice. We had the hama chilli and chu toro cold tastings along with different sashimis. One of the sashimis came with a fried carrot garnish and ponzu sauce and that was a fail because the friend carrots weren't crispy but soggy/greasy mess. I love chu toro but IMHO the amberjack was probably their best fish because the chu toro pieces weren't sliced correctly. They were kind enough to add a complimentary dessert flan, which was yummy. Hopefully, the house reads this and no one else runs into greasy soggy carrots on expensive sashimi grade fish. read more

Went to Hachi in Houston during the tomo pop up event. I've had Hachi on my list for a while for their lunch special. They have complimentary valet and also comp your parking garage ticket. For the pop up, every lunch special comes with a matcha instead of the usual soup, salad, and vegetable tempura. I got the 5 piece nigiri and eel avocado hand roll. They asked to eat the nigiri from left to right (lean to fatty). The pieces include madai, hamachi toro, inada, chutoro, and Scottish salmon. I liked the tuna more than the salmon, it felt more fattier to me. The nigiri's were pretty solid and they have a huge fish to rice ratio, the slices themselves are on the smaller side though. The eel avocado handroll was actually really good too. As solid as this was, I think I would've preferred the regular lunch sets where you can get a makimono, soup, salad, and tempura read more

Hachi is a Japanese sushi restaurant located in the Galleria area. The restaurant has complimentery valet and is located in the back of the plaza. The interior is very sleek and modern. I went during lunch time and had their lunch special at an amazing price! I got the 5 piece nigiri + makimono set, which came with miso soup, tempura, salad, 5 piece of chef's choice nigiri, and 6 pieces of a roll for the price of $24 (2/28/2025). The nigiri set came with salmon, otoro, madai, and two others that I cannot particularly remember and is subject to change each day. For the makimono, you have a list of options to choose from, and I chose the spicy tuna, which was standard and fresh. The nigiri was a bit smaller than others, but very fresh and delicious. The otoro was so buttery and melted in my mouth. The miso soup was balanced and paired well the nigiri. The tempura had 5 pieces. I had an eggplant, shitake mushroom, shishito pepper, pumpkin, and sweet potato. I also got an enagawa nigiri, which was also fresh and melted in my mouth. Service was fast and friendly, and I think this is my new go-to spot for lunch! The set was filling, and the meal was amazing and delicious for the price! read more

Really friendly and attentive service. Waiter asked if it was my first time and patiently explained the menu. He even offered to check on ingredients when I shared I didn't like shrimp. The restaurant is quite large and packed but dimly lit to give it a cozy feel. Very chic space and convenient for those staying in the Galleria area. Certainly more affordable than Nobu. My only complaint is that the pacing of the food was fairly slow - not just for me, but I overheard others complaining the same. The dishes were nicely presented and sushi was fresh. There was only one disappointing dish - it was the veggie tempura - inexpensive at $8 - but half of the items were soggy! The restaurant is located next to the Galleria mall so plenty of parking nearby. I still personally prefer the flavors of Uchi but this is a good option if you don't want to trek to Uchiko nearby or Uchi. read more

So that was a little off putting but I pressed on & I'm glad I did! Once my server came he was friendly & very knowledgeable of the menu so he was able to answer the many questions I had. Had a girl's night/late birthday at Hachi. We found out it's only been open for 3 months but were very happy that we found this spot! The inside is small and intimate, perfect for date nights or GNO's. Our waitress was great! She took her time in explaining the menu and giving her recs. Some of our rolls took a little longer to come out but she checked on them for us often. The food: amazing. The sushi was so fresh. Salmon, delicious. The otoro nigiri was super rich and buttery. The uni pasta I could've had another bowl. We got fruity cocktails that were dangerously refreshing and good. Will be returning for future girl's nights! read more

Love that Hachi has happy hour every day. First had omakase here to try out the menu and we quite enjoyed it. However, upon our next return, we ordered a la carte based on what we enjoyed from the omakase and interesting things from the menu and enjoyed it even more. Third time, ordered from the happy hour menu + some regular menu items and decided this was the winner. This place is not quite in the main Galleria area, so traffic is not horrendous. Parking is also easy - either valet or the spacious covered garage next door. They validate parking, but every time I've tried to validate, the ticket they give me doesn't work at the exit. So, expect to pay for your garage visit ($1-2, not excessive). But I do have to say I'm a bit peeved that they say they validate, but it doesn't work, so I guess they just print out stickers and pretend they validate? If it was just once, I'd assume a glitch, but 3x in a row? I think it's fake news. Even more baffling, once I called them back to tell them about it and the response was, "well you just have to press the button and explain to them" like it was obvious there were more steps to the process than sticking the ticket in the machine?? Why do i have to press the help button to then engage in a conversation with someone in another building to explain I'm trying to validate my parking ticket? On to the food! Honestly, most of the carpaccios are spot on - I order multiple of these during the happy hour. The soft shell crab is legit meaty and yum. Special call out for the truffle rice on the regular menu (5/5), as when it comes out and the lid first comes off... the smell is heavenly. The taste is even better. read more

I ordered the 5 piece nigiri and makimono lunch special which was surprisingly filling and well prepared. The miso was pretty standard. The house salad came with a tasty sesame vinaigrette. The vegetable tempura was piping hot, and came with a mushroom which I'm not used to getting with tempura. The 5 pieces of nigiri were quite varied, and the fish quality was great. Each piece had special toppings that help accentuate the flavor of the particular fish. The salmon and avocado makimono was delicious, and the rice was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The decor is quite nice and the restaurant is clean and new. I had two servers who were very attentive and knowledgeable. They offer complimentary valet, and you can also park in the 5333 parking and get your ticket validated. Do NOT park in the parking provided for PF Changs unless you're willing to pay. I saw this restaurant on Instagram and decided to give it a try for lunch on a Friday. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised! The ambiance is classy, service top notch, and food quite tasty. I don't remember the last time I went to a fancy sushi restaurant and left full, but this lunch special was very filling and satisfying. I got the Chef 7 pieces nigiri plus makimono and it came with miso soup, salad with delicious dressing, vegetable tempura, nigiri, and a roll (makimono). So much food and everything was great! I will definitely be coming back and will bring many friends. The restaurant is on the smaller side. It felt very cramped with all the tables so close together. My table for 2 was also very small. Another thing I didn't enjoy was the noise level. It was so hard for me and my boyfriend to hear each other. Service-wise, the staff was nice and checked up on us often. They were really good about clearing our plates as soon as we were done, so we had more space on our table. But it did take a pretty long time for each dish to come out. We ordered: - Wagyu skewers - Chilean sea bass tempura - Patagonian lamb chops - Hotate shioyaki - Wagyu toast Nigiri: - Kasugodai - Aka mutsu - Kinmedai - Yuki masu - Kama toro - Fuji salmon - Hamachi toro - Sake toro - Ora king salmon - Chu toro - Nama hotate - Unagi - A5 wagyu - Foie gras w/ melon All the food was pretty yummy. The fish quality was great. The nigiri were well dressed with no need for any additional soy sauce. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the Patagonian lamb chops. However, the portions were teeny tiny with steep prices. We spent over $500 with tax and tip, yet were still starving when we left. Personally, if I were to spend that much money, I would rather spend it on a different sushi restaurant. I'm from the Bay Area and was visiting Houston, and I have to say -- Hachi Sushi absolutely impressed me. Coming from Northern California, I don't say this lightly: this sushi is some of the best I've had. It's honestly up there with some of the San Francisco staples I frequent back home. The fish was incredibly fresh -- clean cuts, buttery texture, and perfectly balanced rice. You can taste the quality immediately. Every piece felt intentional and well-crafted. The service was just as impressive. Attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely welcoming. It made the entire experience even better. And the atmosphere? Modern, clean, and vibrant without being too loud. Great energy whether you're on a date, with friends, or just enjoying good sushi. Houston -- you've got a gem here.
