This place is really good. We came here a while back and I forgot to write the review. When we came they didn't have their liquor license yet so we didn't get drinks. But the sushi was really good and fresh. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and helpful. They even accommodated a special request for a roll. We will certainly be b

I ordered from the lunch menu on a Thursday afternoon in person. I was a bit disappointed their bento box doesn't include a portion of California roll so I went with the sushi maki lite A. This includes two rolls from a pre selected list and a soup or salad. I got the salad but used my own dressing. I chose the California rolls and jalepeno roll (up charge $1) . I usually don't like fried rolls but I liked the ingredients inside the roll and I really enjoyed it. The California roll was just ok. The wasabi wasn't strong but they gave a healthy helping of ginger. I'd go back for the convenience

This is a tough one, but I settled on 3 stars because that's supposed to mean "Ok" and that's what I felt overall about my visit to Akiko. They recently opened off of San Felipe in the same shopping center as Randall's, Los Tio's, and Adair Kitchen. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have tons of seating, booths, tables, and a long bar top. The interior looks brand new since they just opened up, so everything still has that new restaurant gloss.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We came by for a late lunch while running errands, and it was more or less empty besides a guy or two eating at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered sake and wine, but they don't have their liquor license yet FYI. The lunch menu has some very well priced sushi combo deals($13 - $20), bento boxes ($16), as well as hot lunch combo meals that come with soup or salad, and a bowl of steamed rice alongside the main protein you pick ($10-$13). I was really surprised by the pricing compared to other sushi spots in the area. I settled on a sushi Lunch Combo, the Maki B, which was one roll of your choice and chef's pick of 5 nigiri pieces. My tablemate went with the Sesame Chicken from their Hot Lunch Combos. Service was prompt and friendly. They checked in on us a ton, especially after handing us the check while we were still finishing our meal. They kept checking to see if I had put down my card which was offputting. Otherwise, they did a fine job refilling waters, and bringing food out. The quality of the sushi and other food is what makes me settle on "ok", because if you're looking for a high level serious sushi meal (MF Sushi, Uchi, 5kinokawa, Kata Robata, etc.), this isn't it. If you're looking for mid grade sushi that won't break the bank (Miyako, Ra Sushi, places where sushi rolls covered in mayonnaise and stuffed with cream cheese make you happy, etc.) this will work fine, and may even surprise you at how affordable they are. The nigiri rice was cold and firm, the sesame chicken was clearly a frozen bag of premade chicken nugs covered in an oversweet syrupy sauce, the soy sauce was super low sodium almost like water, and overall it just felt like a phoned in meal, but again, maybe I was expecting too much. I suppose the short review is they get 3 stars if you're a pricy sushi fan and expecting a top tier high quality Japanese meal, but 4 stars if you like a cheap sushi deal that will scratch your sushi itch.

Akiko is our neighborhood Sushi place. The sushi is always fresh and the prices are very fair. They have a happy hour for premium sashimi that's a huge value compared to other big brands. The service is quick and super friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you want somewhere nice, but not expensive and great fish, this is a really good spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (Also love their Bento Box)

Ordered delivery. Got the BOGO twister roll. I always do a sniff test on sushi as I am VERY picky about it smelling fishy. It passed the sniff test with flying colors. Very fresh fish. Packaged very well. They listened to my special requests also--spicy mayo on side and extra wasabi. Would recommend.

My friend and I found this place while we were shopping nearby. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is clean and has a nice ambiance which is quite surprising when it's next to a grocery store.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is great. The food is decent but for someone who is a sushi lover and eats sushi all the time, I would rate the sushi a 6.5/10. The fish is nice but the sauce (ex spicy mayo) taste different from what I am used to which gave it a taste that I'm not used to. However, this is a personal preference and I can see others loving it.

I discovered this place a few weeks ago and have loved it! I think it's fairly new, have been here four times since . Service Is so fast! I love sashimi and it's always very fresh. I think they're still working on their liquor license and can't wait to have dinner with a drink soon! Food is great!

Absolutely delicious! The service was fast sand the staff was so friendly and helpful. There are a ton of gluten free options available as well. 10/10 would recommend!

So this is my second time coming here and I really like it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its seems to be a pretty new place but I think the design of it and the interior is very nice and a lot of space for seats as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone is very friendly and helpful both times I came. I enjoyed the sushi a lot. I got the super Catapiller roll and it comes with shrimp tempura and eel. This was one of my new favorites now. The Takoyaki was alright as the cream stuffing was as sweet as I was expecting it to be. This is a new item on the dish and they are testing it out from what I was told. The manager came to my table and asked for my opinion on it as it was the only thing I didn't finish and I gave her my honest answer and she was very friendly and understanding and even said she would pass along my recommendation to the chef and I hope it works out for them. Overall I am a big fan of their service and food. I know I will be coming back for sure.

Bad experience before close. I ordered on uber eats , in the picture the shaggy dog has avocado but when they give to you its is only shrimp tempura. Also I requested add ons and the resteraunt updated the total of my order so charged me for those add-ons but DIDNT even ADD it on to my sushi. Thirdly, the shrimp tasted bad like they are trying to clear the shelves of old food. Terrible terrible service. All I wanted was crunch and eel sauce and I would have been fine but no, they charged me for it and didn't give it to me. SC

They have a variety of special rolls. You can't go wrong with any of the lunch specials that are reasonably priced. The quality of the fish for nigiri/sashimi is pretty good!

This place opened fairly recently and I've already gone 3 times! It's been pretty empty when we've been, probably because it's still new. I hope more people start coming in because this is probably the best place I've had in this neighborhood that isn't really expensive. I love sushi but most places around this area are really pricey. This place is a great balance of reasonably priced while still having really great quality fish. The lunch specials are especially great! I usually get a lunch bento with sashimi and one of the cooked meats for my toddler. Service has also been really good. We will keep coming back!

Upon arrival, I was told that I could not sit at the sushi bar and eat. If I wanted to order I had to go sit in the common area of this dining hall. After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

I got the pan daiquiri as my drink to start and my friend got the herbed lavender lemonade. For food we shared the hamachi crudo, the chutoro nigri, the kanpachi nigiri, the A5 tartare, the kani handroll, The kinoko yasaimono, and the hot scallop dish to share. The pan daiquiri was SO good. The smokiness from the mezcal hits you first and then the sweet and creamy after taste takes over. It was so well mixed and I would highly recommend trying this if you are a mezcal lover like me. (9/10) The herbed lavender lemonade was too tangy and sweet for my liking. The lavender flavor get lost in the drink. It tasted like a typical lemonade, nothing special. (5/10) The hamachi crudo was so fresh and I really enjoyed the sweet and tangy broth. I'm not sure I would call it tom kha broth but it tasted good regardless and paired well with the tomatoes. (7.5/10) The chutoro nigiri was SO buttery and melt in your mouth delicious. I would definitely get this again. (8.8/10) The kanpachi nigiri was fresh and I enjoyed the sauce paired with it. It was my first time trying amberjack and I liked it. (7/10) The A5 tartare was super unique and well seasoned. There was plenty of tartare compared to the amount of milk bread you are given to eat it with. The uni, caviar, pate and waygu all mixed together was a decadent combination full of flavor. My only note was the contrast in temperatures that I did not love, the tartare came cold while the milk bread was warm. Overall, a very luxurious and tasty dish. (8/10) The kani handroll surpassed my expectations. Typically I don't go for crab first, but I did enjoy the flavors paired with the crab and the hand roll was well filled. (7.8/10) The kinoko roll (king trumpet mushroom roll) really surprised me. I was weary about getting this roll because I normally don't opt for vegan options, but this king mushroom was so well prepared and the sauce was so delicious that dare I say that I enjoyed this more than some of the fish/meat sushi rolls I've had in the past. (8/10) The hot scallop dish was one of the best bites of the night. The scallop was perfectly charred and cooked and the creamy polenta base with the umami salmon roe, with the fried red cabbage to add texture was amazing. I would definitely order this again. (9/10) Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Aiko and the food surpassed my expectations. I loved everything I tried and do want to come back to try more. The service was quick and helpful with the menu. Parking can be a bit tricky, but there are some free street parking spots around the plaza. The ambiance is definitely upscale and classy. It's a great place for a date! My only complaint was that I made a reservation for 2 at least a week in advance and upon arrival, though they had plenty of open tables, we were seated at the opposite end of a table that was already occupied. We were close enough to hear their entire conversation throughout dinner, and I just thought it was an odd experience because that had never happened to me before. Though it did not hinder me from enjoying the food I would have preferred to be seated at our own table.

GENERALIZED REVIEW:…read more Came here with a friend from theatre after a full run--he had this place recommended to him by another theatre friend, so we're just passing on the word. The plaza was a bit confusing to navigate, and I'm pretty sure if the place weren't full of Asian parents and their kids, it would've felt like the shadiest place ever because you have to enter from the back. Otherwise, the plaza had a lot of great-looking stores overall. My first go-to: I've loved drinking Kirin Light ever since I discovered it in Chicago. The flavor is literally so light, with a slight acidity that brightens up my meal. The sake here was frankly also delicious. I didn't order it, but my friend did, and they had it warmed. The flavor was soothing and subtle, almost like tea. It was exceptionally easy to drink, and the ocean-themed ceramicware was a beautiful touch. We ordered two rolls: the Shaggy Dog and the Truffalufagus (a fun tongue-twister). I personally chose the Truffalufagus (which is not fun to spell) because it seemed like the most unique dish on the menu, and I enjoyed it very much. What I liked most about it was that it was subtle yet impactful. I also loved the textures--from the internal crunch paired with the fresh jalapeño to the softness of the fish. I'm glad I gave this roll a shot, and I would be excited to try it again anytime. The Shaggy Dog was great, but it appealed less to my flavor profile. It was a little too rich and creamy for me. I recommended this place to my BF as a potential future date spot--I personally think he would like it... if he weren't the type to enjoy AYCE sushi so much. If they had more unique rolls, I would definitely come back just for those. I was tempted to order the Surf and Turf for this round, but I didn't want to seem like a glutton, hahaha.
