Brian, our server, went above and beyond. He helped me customize my own roll. He was attentive and compassionate! The rolls & spicy edamame hit the spot.

So...I was in the area again, and in search of toro nigiri, so against my better judgement I grabbed a dragon cocktail, lobster crab puffs and about 6 pieces of nigiri before my exercise class. Good news! I do not regret my choice for a second. Sitting at the bar affords guests the bonus of watching each dish come to life, and is consistently one of my favorite seats in the house. Although this spot is expensive, I still stand by the following dishes: the shishito peppers (see my review below), the lobster crab puffs when fresh (my gosh, this eggroll shaped variation of the crab puff is certainly an improvement to the classic dish), salmon toro, and toro nigiri. Each nigiri came dressed, and of the 6, apart from the two mentioned above, the additional nigiri pieces were nice, but not super memorable. A lover of Madai, I'd certainly order this one again, but I can't say it's my favorite Madai within a 2 mile radius. With dozens of sushi options in the area, this spot continues to lure me in. Until someone offers Madai, Toro, lobster crab puffs and shishitos that can compare, I don't see that changing anytime soon :).

Rocket Combo: bbq short ribs, dynamite shrimp, blue crab fried rice - $33

This was in walking distance from our hotel and we didn't want something as heavy as the Italian or pub food next door. We were promptly seated on a Monday evening at 7:30 pm and the interior decor is quite nice. I ordered the Rocket Combo: bbq short ribs, dynamite shrimp, blue crab fried rice for $33. While it offered nice variety, I could make better at home. The flavors seemed westernized and the fried rice was a little dry. At least we didn't have to walk too far to get back to our hotel.

For the Japanese Whiskey, the Hibiki Harmony is very "Petey" , and very scotch like. It's good, just be aware. The Thai Chili Yellowtail was outstanding. Great flavor, and served great. Has a kick of spice , with the citrus flavor. Loved it. The Golden Citrus Kanpachi was very flavorful. Great for on or two people to share; 2 bites each. The Blazing Tuna Roll was great. Good serving of a large roll, with a spicy kick with sweet eel sauce. I had them keep out the cream cheese, even better. DO the Uni sushi, ...Add the Quail Egg... you're welcome. My server Jordan gave me some great recommendations and was very attentive. Had a good night.

Beautiful upscale restaurant however in my opinion the food and service were very mediocre. Upon arrival the hostess asked me if I wanted to sit at the bar even though I had selected standard sitting upon reserving this restaurant. Then after letting them know I wanted to not sit at the bar they gave me a table. The waiter showed up asking me if I had chosen something and had to let them know I just had gotten there. Some other waiter showed up with a roll of sushi and had to let them know I haven't ordered yet. I ordered the misu soup, spicy edemame, and Sake. These were all great specially the spicy edemame. However their most popular sushi roll, choo choo roll was very mediocre and it tasted sweet barely tasted any of the spiciness as described in the menu. Their dessert though was great. I got the Mochi trio ice cream which included green tea, mango, and strawberry. Overall not a bad place, maybe other sushi rolls and food would be better however their service needs a bit of work.

My general rule of thumb is to visit somewhere twice before reviewing, but my wife & I happened to be in Houston for her birthday... Just a quick day trip. She's a huge sushi lover. I like it too, but my wife was the birthday girl...follow? Anyway... This place had great reviews, and was in the area. We showed up just in time and were seated right away, but by the time we left people were waiting for tables. I definitely recommend heading there BEFORE NOON! Our waiter was fantastic! I am sorry I don't remember his name, or I would give a shout out. I opted for the two specialty roll lunch special... surf and turf roll and blazing tuna. Both were so good, I never even poured soy sauce. I don't think I've ever done that! Why wife ate a bunch of sashimi. I almost fainted when I saw the prices, but my wife assured me this place was known for its high quality fish. I'll give 'em that, because there were some fish on the menu I'd never heard of. By the way, there was no stumping or waiter; all questions my wife hurled at him were fielded expertly. He seemed to know everything there was to know about every fish and how it would taste. Impressive. My wife thought all of her sashimi was incredible. I, on the other hand, always struggle with prices for sushi. Let's just say I'm glad I opted for the two-roll lunch special...as I'm just not sure those rolls individually are worth their normal price tag. Overall, we had a great experience and I'd recommend this place for a nicer date spot. Definitely not an everyday lunch spot.

A nice place to go with colleagues or friends. The service is good, the happy hour discounted beverages are a must, and you can't go wrong with the appetizers. I had the blue crab fried rice, which had generous chunks of crab and tasted fresh. The creme brulee was so good our table ordered 3! Will definitely be back to try more menu items :)

Mandi is amazing! Ask her to be your server!! Food was great. Came out fast. The ambience is very nice, they have some sort of cool concrete designs on the walls. There is a cool bar connected to the restaurant. I'd definitely return.

Super cute vibe inside, perfect mix of upscale but laid back. I had the lychee martini...chefs kiss! Had the HTX roll, the cucumber salad with octopus was the perfect appetizer. Also tried the crispy wings and took a slice of carrot cake to go! I look forward to trying a happy hour here. Loved it

We came to celebrate Valentine's Day and definitely enjoyed our time! They had a Valentine's Day menu but it was on the pricey side for the portions sizes we were seeing at surrounding tables (we heard a couple nearby comment as well) so we opted for the regular menu. I love that they still gave us the option because a lot of places force you to order from a menu of things you don't want. I had 2 sushi rolls and they were on the smaller side as far as size compared to other sushi places nearby at the same caliber/price point but they tasted great. Our waitress was the sweetest, but pretty much everyone was really nice and attentive. The food arrived quickly and the restaurant was cozy, clean and moody which I loved! I'd definitely come back and encourage others to visit if you're curious!

    The SOPO! Very delicious

I love this place! Service is great and friendly staff! All sushi is fantastic and has unique ingredients. My favorite sushi roll is The SOPO! Fruity and candied jalapeño are very good accents! They have happy hours and very good prices.

This was my first and definitely not the last time having a sushi date with the bestie here. This place is so much more than sushi and the pictures do it no justice.A couple things were off menu but everything was amazing. The (unnamed) fried cabbage dish was a symphony! No notes, so fresh, flavorful and visually appealing. The scallop was my first impression bite and I had high hopes from then on. The butter sauce was so good we had to run it back with a flaky salmon. The short rib came out sizzling and dazzled with flavor. The Thai chili wraps were so good. Not too saucy so we could really taste the spices. The staff was so kind Linda really made a wonderful experience. Chefie was really putting in labors of love back there, could tell in every bite. Perfect for a date or girls night the vibes were there and the food is the star.

The individual dishes were bite sized, so if you are a big eater, you will need more food after. For me, the quantity was perfect. While the quality and cuts of the fish were great, expectations were not met based on the pictured item. :/ I'm currently in the hospital and had been looking forward to sushi my entire pregnancy, so this was especially frustrating. My husband picked up the order, and the man at the counter was rude both times. The first time, my husband simply asked to confirm whether sriracha was included and was met with an attitude. The second time, the order was placed on the counter without any acknowledgment or confirmation before the employee turned away. I myself cannot speak for the ambiance as i haven't been in person but this alone is enough to keep me away. We're glad I'll be discharged soon so we can return to our usual sushi spot--Sushi Hana in Katy, which has never treated us this way. Come here if you're only looking for sushi and have low expectations for service.

I came for lunch on a Saturday and it was super busy so the service was a bit slow. It took a while for our water and for our server to come and take our order. I ordered the Lunch Special Nigiri Sushi and Noodle Set and got 6 pieces of salmon nigiri with udon noodle soup. The salmon nigiri was fresh and buttery and so delicious! The serving size of the udon was a lot bigger than I anticipated so I feel like I got my money's worth. I definitely recommend coming for the lunch specials since they're good value.

After being seated, I informed the waiter that I would place a to-go order instead. About 20 minutes later, our food was ready. At that point, our daughter woke up, so we hoped to continue dining in as originally planned. I politely asked the waiter if we could finish our meal there. We didn't expect him to continue serving us--we simply wanted to sit and eat the food we had ordered. I had already tipped him on the to-go order. His response was blunt and shocking: "No, you have to leave. The table was given to someone else for a 7:30 reservation." There was no attempt to find a solution or offer an alternative--just a direct order to leave. This was a Thursday night, the restaurant was not busy, and there were outdoor tables and other seating available. We felt incredibly insulted by the attitude. When we spoke to the manager, he simply repeated that the table was reserved and backed up the waiter, without suggesting another table or even asking us to wait for the next available one, until we brought up the point that he could have asked if we have an option to wait for the next table?? Then the manager went ok do you want to have another table just because we asked. What stood out most wasn't the reservation issue, but the complete lack of hospitality, flexibility, or basic courtesy. This experience spoke volumes about the customer service here, and unfortunately, it's the reason we won't be returning.

Every time I come here, they are packed!!! Bustling, and despite having their walk-ins surpass their reservations, and being understaffed, they sure don't show the struggle! They are always hustling while offering incredible, amazing, friendly service and all with a smile! Very communicative if they are running behind and always makes sure that the patron is happy. Replacing plates with new ones when they're dirty, taking empty dishes, offering new beer glasses with a replenished beer orders, and more! They are on top of it and even when they're not, they are quick to own up to it and apologize or find some way of giving complimentary dishes on the house. Most importantly, their service is five stars and they truly go above and beyond for their patrons. This is why I continue to come back. I LOVE that they offer a complimentary palate cleanser before you start your meal! I love coming here and splurging on sashimi, nigiri, small bites, oysters, rolls, and desserts. Here are my favorites here: (in no particular order) - edamame - spicy crunchy tuna roll (makimono) - Hama chili - Kurodai (black bream) - hamachi nigiri - hot rock , if you want to splurge, try the A-5 Wagyu - milk and cereal dessert to finish off the evening This place is one of my favorite places for happy hour too!! A great place for any occasion honestly! I absolutely love this place!
