I had another amazing buffet experience at Nobu. The Sunday brunch had a variety of fresh sushi, along with salmon, steak, waffles, desserts; there was so much to choose from, and everything I tried was delicious. The mimosas were great, and the vibe was nice due to the DJ playing good songs. We were seated right away, and parking was easy with no issues in the lot. The location is super convenient, right near the Galleria Mall entrance, so it's perfect if you want to do some shopping before or after brunch. The waitstaff was courteous and very attentive. Just a heads-up, be prepared to spend a good amount on this brunch. It's definitely on the higher end. That said, the quality, service, and overall experience was exceptional.

The Mother's Day brunch that they accused us of not attending.

I've eaten at a few other Nobu/Matsuhisa locations and this was by far the worst experience. I can't even comment on the food because they caused an issue that left such a bad taste in my mouth, the food seems tasteless. We made a last-minute reservation on Open Table for Mother's Day brunch, because it was one of the few "nice restaurants" in Houston that had availability left for Mother's Day (that should have been a sign). We ate there. Shortly after we were charged a $100 no-show fee. When we called the restaurant we were told we needed to provide them a receipt. We offered to send them pictures of ourselves dining there, as we had taken plenty on Mother's Day. They told us they would accept it, but they would be making an "exception" for us, which is ridiculous considering this is a mistake on their part. They told us to call back in a week if the charge was not reversed. Fast forward a week, the charge had not been reversed. We called in and spoke to a different manager, named STACY, who gave us an attitude, lectured us, and told us it was against their policy to do a reversal without proof and we would need to get in contact with their corporate office with our credit card statement... Is business so bad that they have to try and nickel and dime patrons for no-show fees? I'd understand if they had been fully booked weeks in advance, but we made a last-minute reservation, clearly dined there, and even though their host made a mistake, they were unapologetic and were trying to make us jump through hoops to get our money back. This poor service truly explains their low rating and open availability. Save yourself the headache and eat at Uchi or one of the many other sushi restaurants in Houston. Definitely won't be back.

It was a cool spot just to say you've been. My favorite dish was the miso cod. It was definitely the highlight of the meal. The atmosphere is cute and the drinks were decent. That said, the portions were on the smaller side and we were still hungry afterward.

Atmosphere awesome. Service perfect. Food - Huge letdown. When the best food is the edamame we have issues. The spicy cucumber salad was great also a 8.8/10. Spicy edamame was 9/10. Next we had the yellowtail belly nigiri. Served at room temperature and had not one bit of flavor. Tasted literally nothing. Two rolls were ordered and the salmon was bland. Rock shrimp tempura ordered. Had some flavor. Crust was good. Sauce all in bottom on lettuce. So it definitely was not the meal that we were dreaming of having at Nobu.

Tried their happy hour on a Saturday (love that happy hour is 7 days a week). -- only available in the bar / lounge area At 5:30 pm on a Saturday, there was no wait (quick to be seated) Food: Cut roll - 3/5 decent, nothing special but pretty good price for Nobu Miso cod - 4/5 great flavor, a bit tough to eat with the lettuce but a little pricey (we ordered 2 orders -- each only comes with two pieces) Shshito peppers - 4.5/5 great flavor and deal ($9 on hh) Hamachi crudo - 4/5 very solid and fresh (not fishy at all!) Crispy rice - 4/5 would've been a perfect 5 if the ratio was a bit different (there was not quite enough tuna). Additionally, the sauce was more of a honey sesame than the expected eel sauce (different but not quite as good) Overall, would return for happy hour (seems like a great date spot for happy hour). Around 7 or so, it seems to get a bit more crowded on the weekends. To avoid the valet, parking is close in the Saks lot / structure (purple).

Hubby surprised me with Sunday Brunch here in the galleria. Some how this gem missed us for a while, as we try to stay in the know on all the Brunch Buffets in Houston. We valeted ($12) and took the elevator up because the stairs were not an options (aka I'm clumsy). Upon exiting the elevator, I observed the DJ to my left and the hostess desk to my right. We were able to sit at the bar despite not having a reservation, but we were there right at 11. For groups larger than 3, I highly suggest making a reservation. We were immediately greeted by the bar tender and given a drink menu. Now let's get into the buffet:) Cold options: Tuna/ Salmon and Whit fish nigiri, shrimp tempura roll, tuna and avocado roll, multiple salad options, Cajun Tuna pieces, Shrimp cocktail, etc Hot options: Shrimp & grits, Truffle Mac & cheese, chicken katsu, short rib, grilled veggies & potatoes Desserts: fresh croissants, fruit pastries, tarts, cheesecake cups, mouse cups, chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls, matcha brownies, etc. Atmosphere is great and they even have outdoor seating if you want more of an intimate setting. We enjoyed it thoroughly and will add them to the list...buffet is about $65 per person. Enter freely, they've been approved.

I visited Nobu on a weekday afternoon with a friend to celebrate her birthday! We ordered from the Tanoshi happy hour menu which is available every day from 5-7 pm in the bar and lounge section. The Tanoshi Hour menu offers small bites, appetizers, and select cocktails. The bar and lounge side of the restaurant is less upscale but is still comfortable and great for larger groups. We sampled the spicy tuna roll, shishito peppers, and the classic yellowtail jalapeno. Each dish was fresh and flavorful but the portions were small. If you are rather hungry, Nobu isn't the best option for a filling meal unless you're willing to spend a pretty penny. However, if you're looking for quality sushi for a special occasion, I'd recommend it.

I will say that Nobu is very impressive and the vibe is excellent. We went for the ayce Sunday brunch and the variety of the offerings was immense. The place was packed, but we got a nice table at the back of an inner room. The only detractor was that it was pretty hot inside, which may be heavily influenced by the number of people there. Our server was very kind and attentive, though because our party members arrived at different times, some of our drink orders took a little bit of time. There were three lines for the food, hot items, cold items and dessert. The famous black cod with miso was outstanding! Definitely all it was described to be. I also liked the nigiri and sushi, though as expected, the temperature varied due to sitting time. The pasta, sliders, and pastries were also very tasty, though some items did disappear before I could try them, which again, is to be expected. The meat was very tender and succulent. The karaage and elevated hotdog were good, but not to the level of the other dishes in my opinion. Overall, we had a nice time and definitely were able to sample a variety of dishes, even within a short time frame.

I've heard a lot about Nobu. For the price, the food wasn't bad but I was underwhelmed. I mean the brunch sushi was just basic. The brunch food was okay. They called this dish with was seemed like rice and shrimp, shrimp and grits. I was expecting different. The dessert was meh. I love cheesecake but it wasn't good enough to finish. Personally, I tend to avoid buffets that allow children to serve themselves. I saw this a lot there. If no reservation available, they do accept walk-ins. This was spur of the moment so we did the walk-in and sat at the bar. There is a live DJ there and the music flowed. The DJ did a great job. There is valet for $12. The Brown lot is the closest. Of you want to get a few steps in like I did (not by choice) the yellow garage isnt too far away.

Anita L.

Overall, the vibe was nice and the service was solid. It's not the best Nobu I've been to, but a good option if you're at the mall and want something a step up from the food court. The lychee martini was a bit too sweet for my taste, and the edamame didn't taste very fresh, which was disappointing. The black cod miso was incredible and easily the best thing I had. The skewers were just okay. I think I expected better quality, especially considering the price.

Eint P.

Had a great Sunday brunch buffet at Nobu! It was $75 per person. The miso cod and salmon nigiri were absolutely fab, and the short rib bao bun was to die for. The chicken skewers were just okay, but the Parmesan rice with seafood chunks totally made up for it - so rich and flavorful, though definitely on the heavier side. All the desserts were fantastic and full of flavor. We started with a carajillo, which wasn't our favorite (honestly, I can make a better one at home), but everything else was spot on. Overall, a solid 4-star experience!

Extremely late post! Spent V-Day weekend in Houston and came here with my boo on V-Day. I always love a Nobu visit and this location was pretty solid. Love was in the air. I stuck to my usuals and everything we had tasted good. The staffers were attentive and I really have no complaints.

Ask the Community - Nobu Houston

Where's the best place to park?

They have valet. I think that is the safest bet.

Do i need to make reservations?

You might want to especially on weekends. Makes your life easier because they get booked up fast.

What's the difference between the Seasonal omakase ($85) and the Signature omakase ($125)? Is it more food? Or is it the same amount of food just "higher quality"?

Can I wear jeans with a nice top?

Absolutely! All Nobu restaurants are casual chic.

Any vegetarian and vegan friendly dishes? Looking for a place to celebrate a birthday

If your party is restricted to vegetarian or even vegan option then I do not recommend this place at all - it's a Sushi place and this indicates that their prime offering is fish and seafood. They have options but the offering is slim.

Now for me...I was a little intimidated at first but after asking the waitress what she suggested...she steered me to a few rolls and items I should give a try. And I opted for a few items off their $7 menu of fatty salmon and tuna which both melted in your mouth. I was sad they didn't have ocean perch a single as I really wanted to try a new fish. I also, grabbed an order of spicy edamame as I have to have some veggies when I dine out. The roll I finally decided to get was I can't remember the name right now, but had all my favorites: salmon, tuna, and cream cheese. I also had nigiri yellowtail as I can't go eat sushi without having my yellowtail fix. I really wish I had (3) stomachs as I wanted to try a few more rolls. But after the Cabernet Sauvignon (3) glasses and the nigiri rolls I had I was too full to consume anything else. The restaurant was dimly lit, which created a great ambience. My partner decided to go for the omakase which consisted of 18 dishes. We started with cold dishes, followed by nigiri, and lastly red meat. The pace was perfect and the dish progression was great. The individual dishes were bite sized, so if you are a big eater, you will need more food after. For me, the quantity was perfect. However, the greediness in me just wanted to try their uni pasta, and truffle Wagyu rice. No regrets! I absolutely loved the omakase and would recommend that for first timers at the restaurant. At that point, our daughter woke up, so we hoped to continue dining in as originally planned. I politely asked the waiter if we could finish our meal there. We didn't expect him to continue serving us--we simply wanted to sit and eat the food we had ordered. I had already tipped him on the to-go order. His response was blunt and shocking: "No, you have to leave. The table was given to someone else for a 7:30 reservation." There was no attempt to find a solution or offer an alternative--just a direct order to leave. This was a Thursday night, the restaurant was not busy, and there were outdoor tables and other seating available. We felt incredibly insulted by the attitude. When we spoke to the manager, he simply repeated that the table was reserved and backed up the waiter, without suggesting another table or even asking us to wait for the next available one, until we brought up the point that he could have asked if we have an option to wait for the next table?? Then the manager went ok do you want to have another table just because we asked. What stood out most wasn't the reservation issue, but the complete lack of hospitality, flexibility, or basic courtesy.
