I took two others with me and we decided to try some new dishes and introduce them to some of my favorites. - Jumbo Lump Crab with Coconut Sauce (5/5): Oh my god. I was upset for a bit that they rotated out the Tiger Prawns, but I've found a new gem in their new seasonal dish. The perfect amount of crab, a sauce that you could mop up with rice (and I did, with rice from the curry), amazing little bites to enjoy it with. You've got to try this. - Pad See Ew (5/5): Still a must-get every time. Still fantastic texture and balance. - Garlic Chive Pancakes (4.5/5): Still a great way to start the meal but the texture is a little more dry and not as chewy as I remember? - Laab Pork (4/5): Still a fantastic mid-meal blend of vegetables and meat. As always, I wish they gave more cucumber. - Red Curry with Pumpkin and Chicken (4/5): I honestly thought this was pretty good but I was overpowered but how great the jumbo crab was that this felt a little weaker in comparison. It's still got great spice alone and nice that it comes with rice to be very filling. - Coconut Shallot Ice Cream (???/5) So.. I'd call this an experience LOL. Three small scoops of what seem like dairy free ice cream, with caviar and crispy shallots. It's as weird as it sounds. Reminds me of a salted caramel dish but.. more salty, more coconut than sweet. It's very weird. I wouldn't order it again, but if I were served this as an eclectic tasting menu dessert I would let the chef cook. Interior is way different than I expected from the outside view. Very modern aesthetic, good for a date. Service was iffy towards the end, there was a lot of delay/miscommunication in receiving our check and takeout order. For food- everything runs a little salty but flavors are really great. Also beware of the spice! - Garlic chive pancakes: recommended by our server, was super crispy outside and gooey inside. Reminds me of a Korean pajeon flavor. Super interesting dish! - Lump crab: lovedd this dish. Lot of coconut and lime notes in the sauce, this was my favorite. - Crispy pork: super crispy and tender. Huge fan of this dish. I've heard so many good things about street to kitchen over the past few years and since then they've even gotten michelin bib gourmand recognition as well. I went once when they were at their original location a few years ago but wasn't blown way. However, I always usually like to try restaurants twice before officially deciding whether or not I like it. I went again recently to their new location that is much bigger and nicer. We made a reservation about a week in advance. Drunken noodles: 3/5 Green curry: 3/5 Crispy pork belly: 4/5 Grilled chicken: 3.5/5 Overall, the food is good but it doesn't blow me away. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, 11/10. One of the best Thai meals I've ever had. Believe them when they say mild is spicy. I'm glad I didn't order medium because even the mild had a strong kick and leaves a nice lingering spicy aftertaste. The ingredients tasted very fresh and everything was cooked perfectly. There was very little chicken, maybe about four small pieces, but the chicken that was included was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The only downside was the portion size, which was smaller than most Thai restaurants. You can tell this place is very popular and a bit more high-end. Every seat was full and parking is valet only, which is something to keep in mind. Even with the smaller portion, this is some of the highest quality Thai food you'll find. Amazing! Best thai I've ever had! I had the Gand T which was terrific. Lots of gluten free options. I LOVED the massaging curry with lamb shanks. The lamb fell off the bone when I touched it. Located inside a warehouse that is currently being updated, Street to Kitchen is an unsuspecting delight. With authentic Thai food offered in real Thai spice levels, this place is definitely one of the best Thai in Houston. We ordered a few plates to share. For appetizers, we got an egg salad dish that was just okay. It was a little too doused in fish sauce for my liking, though still good, the least memorable dish of the day. We also ordered a large tom yum shrimp soup to share and even the mild spice was extreme. The sweet and sourness of the soup was some of the best I've had. For entrees, we ordered the crispy pork, pumpkins red curry and massaman curry. The curries were absolutely, insanely delicious. The massaman was coconutty and packed with flavor. The pumpkin was something I normally would not order, not being the biggest fan of pumpkin, but the roasted pumpkin in here was incredible. Highly highly recommend these two. The crispy pork was super crunchy and the sticky rice was a delight. Mango sticky rice is a must get for dessert. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, as well as attentive. This is going to be an unpopular opinion but I just didn't think it was that great. My expectations were sky high as this place has been winning all of the awards from James beard to Michelin. It appears their space is newer than the place that was in many of the previous reviews so wonder if that has any impact. It's located on the east end and the venue itself is well built out but the surrounding area is still sketchy. Mostly street parking but there is a small lot. Once inside the place is decorated well and the vibes remind me of Montrose with lots of loud eclectic music, hardcore trap to edm to hip hop. The bass was really hitting. As far as the food, just a heads up everything will come out pretty spicy. They give you a warning but most of the group felt the dishes were just too darn spicy. The best dish of the night was the fried egg appetizer, it's quite interesting and nothing I have had at any other place before. The drunken noodles were solid, but nothing mind blowing, could be found at most places in town. Only difference is that it's kicked up on the spice by default. The Khao Soi is okay the meat is very tender. The crispy chicken lard comes out dry and the topping once again is super spicy. The green curry was very light, a little bland even. Ended the meal with the mango sticky rice, once again good, but nothing special. Just hard to justify the prices when there are so many other amazing Thai places in town. We got the Khao soi, which was excellent with the soft tender beef and great spices and flavors of the broth. The noodles were also very delicious and chewy. Came here to celebrate a birthday and made a reservation in advance. The food was really spicy - we got their papaya salad, tom yum, pad Thai, drunken noodles. The Tom yum was too sour and hot for me. Everything was extremely spicy honestly I couldn't even taste the dish just heat. Valet parking. Absolutely loved the chicken and noodles dish, tons of umami and perfectly seasoned, will get this every time i go back. I liked the pad see ew but would probably opt for the vegitarian version next time there was a TON of pork in there. The pork jerky was definitely worth getting. I also liked the fried rice quite a bit. I will say this place is expensive, typical noodle dishes like pad see ew or pad thai from other places in the city are typically around $13, paying $20 for a noodle dish, almost 50% more expensive is pretty steep. I will say it is the best version ive had in the city. Will definitely come back again. read more

Basil Chicken - 3/5 The spice level was good, but the dish tasted a little bitter, probably because there was too much chili. 2. Fried Rice - 3/5 It seemed a bit burnt. The flavor could have been good, but the burnt taste was too strong. 3. Vegetables - 1/5 This dish was extremely salty and hard to enjoy. 4. Mango Sticky Rice - 3/5 Very small portion for $14. Heard about Street to Kitchen and meaning to them out. We had made reservations and were promptly show to our table. Please note that you have to reserve with a credit card with a $30 per person fee for no shows. The place is dark and pretty packed. They were pretty busy on a Friday night. We started with the papaya salad with dried shrimps & peanuts. The papaya was crisp with a kick. Next, we had the tom yum shrimp. The shrimps were big and juicy and mushrooms completed it wells. For our mains, we ordered the green curry chicken, krapow pork and crab fried rice. The green curry was one of the best we had. Perfect amount of chicken and vegetables (eggplant, Bamboo, etc). Chicken was tender and seem to have been mashed. The curry itself was delicious! Next was the Krapow Pork. Our server asked us to pour the fish sauce over the egg and mash the egg with the rice. That works! Pork has a salt, sweet taste that complements the mashed egg rice well. Last is the crab rice. There were big chunks of crab. Others have commented that it is a bit wet. That's how I remember Thai fried rice should be during my time in Bangkok. We ended our night with mango sticky rice. It was yummy. Wish there was more mango as there was disproportionate amount of rice. Overall, food was delicious and authentic. They are on a higher price point but can appreciate based on the ingredients. The food at Street to Kitchen remains outstanding but I feel like the service could use some tweaking. We were excited to go to dinner there with another couple that had never been. We were seated right away and the waitress took our drink order and let us know that we would need to place our order all at once and they would "course it out". We took some time to go over our options before placing the order and our drinks had still not arrived at this point. Two of our appetizers hit the table before our drinks finally made it to us. After that it was just rapid fire dishes hitting our table one after the next to the point where they couldn't fit them all on the table. I understand if they need to take the whole order at once for kitchen reasons, but if they are going to do that then they need to actually course it out and not have 10 dishes arrive at the table at one time. I wish I had snapped a photo with everything crammed and jammed on there. I ran into another friend while there and he said they were having the exact same service issue. A group of colleagues and I we having drinks at a nearby cocktail bar and decided to continue the night with dinner. We walked over to Street to Kitchen to see if they could accommodate us and luckily they could because one of our team members had to go home (max of 6 people for walk-in dining). As the team wanted to try a lot of the dishes, we opted for family style dining and planned to share a large amount of items. I was the only one who doesn't enjoy spice so I made the server aware and he did a great job at cautioning me on which ones may be too spicy for me and at making suggestions for non-spicy orders. We also had others with food preferences (vegetarian/ gluten free) and they did a great job at directing us for this as well. The food came out in a very timely manner and everything tasted great! Stumbled upon this restaurant during a lunch break with coworkers. I really didn't know what to expect of this place because it was kind of hidden. You have to know exactly where you're going to find this place. But once we arrived in the restaurant, it was nicely decorated the lights were dim it gave off a real nice vibe in the daytime so I'm only imagining what it's like in the nighttime. Our host was very friendly. He seated us immediately, and we began to review the menu. Our waiter came by and took drink orders, but also informed us about how their flavor pallets work. Which was very helpful because many people in my party cannot handle spicy foods. I am one of them.. I ordered the drunken noodles mild. And the flavors were all there you can taste the basil and the garlic however, the mild was spicy. In my opinion. Because the spice was intense for me, the waiter graciously offered me a shot of half-and-half cream to soothe the spiciness. Overall, this is a great spot to dine. Street to Kitchen only affirms Thai food as my favorite cuisine and also gave me a new appreciation for excellent service. This restaurant was bustling with energy on a Friday evening at 8pm. I immediately understood why it was necessary to make a reservation far in advance. Even so, I was able to call a few hours before and have my reservation pushed 30 minutes because I know I'd be behind. They accommodated without issue. Onward, my date and I were pleasantly greeted by a our lovely server who graciously explained some of the menu items in detail and gave us fair warning regarding the high spice levels of many of the dishes. I ordered the beef Khao Soi while my date ordered the pork fried rice and some grilled chicken dish. We ended up sharing everything family style and it was more than enough food for both of us. Everything was bursting with all the flavors I love plus some unexpected ones. The spice level was challenging but I handled it with grace haha. Glad I finally made it here! Definitely recommend a reservation because this place is deservedly quite busy. Plenty of street parking available around the area. The decor is very fun, lots of plants! The menu isn't too complicated and the servers definitely give a valid fair warning that the spice is quite serious. It's also "chef driven" so can't make modifications. That being said, there are plenty of not spicy items! Started with a lemonade and I'm so glad I ordered it because the sweet acidity helped quench the spice! The khao soi (beef cheek) is superb. Incredibly flavorful, full of complexity. The beef was perfectly tender and falls apart. The noodles are crispy but become the perfect soft texture once mixed into the broth. The broth is so savory and all the toppings perfectly complement the beef, including onions and cilantro. The spice is no joke, though! It is definitely hot, but the flavor is so worth it. Pad see ew was probably the best I've tried in Houston. The charcoal flavor is so pronounced and I love that there's Chinese broccoli in it. The pickled Serrano juice isn't too spicy, it's a nice bit of acid to add on top. If you did want spice, there is a side of chili flake. I did not use this because the khao soi was plenty spicy haha. Garlic soy veggies were simple but also phenomenal, the mushrooms were a little sweet and this dish really helped relieve some of the spice as well. The Pandan coconut cake was a decent dessert, the cake was denser than others I've had but very pandan forward. There were chunks of coconut on top which I appreciated! Came here on a Saturday night with a reservation. I guess people cancel a lot because there was a $30 charge if we missed our reservation. Table was ready for us and the hostess was a bit brusque. For a place they charges in the $30 range for a plate of Asian food and is in Eado, I thought they would be a bit nicer and welcoming. Our waiter however, was fantastic. Super nice guy and explained that everything is spicy to begin with so beware. Shrimp and watermelon: refreshing with a slight hint of spice but not overwhelming. The shrimp being sliced in half threw me off. Garlic and chive pancakes: they came in these rectangular sticks and also had a mochi type texture with a weird pull. Waiter said reheated the would taste funny but they tasted the same funny as when they came out. Waiter said we got a free bottle of sparkling water with this because the chef had just won a Rising Star award for Houston for that particular dish. Corn fritters: meh. The spice had a bitter hint to it. Wouldn't get those again. Noodles: they were the ones with chicken and came with pickled peppers on the side. This was the best savory dish because you could control your spice with delicious editions and the items were spot on. Mango sticky rice: came with whipped topping but it was coconut. Winning. A story about this-the server told us that they didn't had ripe mangos. Magically when it was time to order dessert they found some. Confused. Leftovers are waiting for you at the front with a coat check. Kind of weird but whatever. Also there is an hour and a half limit for your dinner. I was miffed by this. Amazing dining experience! The food here is fantastic and the service is exceptional. The employees greet and converse with you as if you have known them for years. The restaurant is very trendy and typically plays upbeat Thai music, there are cool Easter eggs like Thai movie posters set up around the restaurant. Most of the entrees are $15-$20 and are built for sharing. The quantity of each entree is a normal size for one person, but you might end up sharing bites of each dish with your dinner companions as the night goes on. My go-to choices are the crispy pork belly or the drunken noodles. You get a choice of mild, medium, or Thai spicy for most entrees, I would recommend mild for a first timer. I go medium when I want to sweat, but Thai spicy has been tried and is a no go for me. The specialty cocktail list here has something for everyone. I have tried familiar favorites and drinks I've never heard of and all of them have been fantastic, you really can't go wrong. Some of my favorites are the Frozen Thai Tea, Embassy Margarita, and Toki Highball. The drinks are fairly pricey at $15-20 per glass but the presentation is on point, ingredients are high quality, and each drink is strong. read more

My friend and I met up for dinner on a weekday and Street to Kitchen was vibing! It was the end of January just after the snowstorm of 2024, and the Christmas decoration was still up, which I adored. We ordered the red curry and the pad see ew, with green beans on the side. We were eating completely vegetarian, and everything was absolutely fabulous. The server courteously let us know that spice here means *spice* and he was right. The red curry spice was not here to play games. My friend and I both felt the heat in all the good ways, and the pumpkin was texturally perfect. I must admit that living in the Netherlands has made me soft on being able to handle heat, but it was absolutely divine. We had a 6:45 reservation, came in at that time, and were seated promptly. Our servers were very attentive and the sommelier clearly passionate about helping customers get the best experience possible. It is a place on the smaller side in terms of space - it got even busier pretty fast (which is to be expected, especially on a Friday night!) and so was fairly loud with the music playing also. Because you are expected to order everything at once (I knew this before coming, and had informed the people I was dining with also), it got a little overwhelming trying to decide what to get when there is so much background noise. To try to avoid this, I would suggest viewing recent photos of the menu online before coming! Don't be surprised if something is changed or runs out due to demand. I was pretty disappointed tonight when they had run out of the Yen Ta Fo special & replaced it with the Crispy Prawns, but especially disappointed to hear that they had run out of Mango Sticky Rice. Another thing I would also like to note is that table space fills up very fast if you are ordering a lot to share and it can get tough to pass things around. We got Grandma Pluentha's Corn Fritters, Yum Kai Dao, Shrimp Tom Yum, Green Curry with Fish Balls and the Pad See Ew with Tofu. For dessert we got the Pandan Cake and the Coconut Caviar ice cream. The fritters were flavorful and soaked up the sauce well. The Yum Kai Dao was delicious - the egg mixed together so well as the runny yolk blended to form a rich, pungent sauce over the greens and vegetables. The Tom Yum was great - even at a mild it has a definite kick to it. The green curry special was probably my favorite dish of the night. The creamy curry and the tender fish! So good. Both of the desserts were delicious. Give the ice cream a try! I do wish that the portions were a bit bigger given the price, but everything was very tasty and the service was nice. There is something about an unapologetic menu that I am OBSESSED with. Street to Kitchen brings the heat, Thai Style and they warn you in advance. No substitutions, which maintains the integrity of the food and the overall balance of flavors. Located inside the Plant, you'll find parking sparse due to the building hosting more than just one business. So, plan accordingly. Reservations are available on Open Table- something I also highly recommend especially for a Friday or Saturday evening visit. They have a fantastic collection of house-made non-alcoholic drinks which I valued. I was able to try Thai Tea and their homemade limeade. Both were great, if not slightly sweet. The recommendation is to order all food at once. Food comes out as it's ready, which is a different experience, but one I did not mind. My table ordered both the corn fritters and the garlic chive pancake as an appetizer. They were both served with flavorful sauces-which turned out to be my favorite thing about both dishes. My entree was the Krapow Beef with rice. I ordered the spice level at a mild (and this seemed to be enough for me) It's presented beautifully, with tons of colors. Portion is a bit on the smaller side, but the flavor is 100% there. Unfortunately, I did have to send my plate back due to finding a hair in my food, but they immediately dealt with it and fired a new dish for me which I appreciated. Finally, for dessert, I ordered the mango sticky rice and this may be my go-to spot for this dish moving forward. Noodle dishes were very very oily. Pad Thai was very sweet and oily. The curry was poor quality chicken and unremarkable. The star was the mango and sticky rice. Food was very good with top quality ingredients. Portion size too small for the price. They don't joke around with spicy level. Ask to level down if you are not used to spicy. They didn't even ask me the level- bring it up. Overall, great experience. On another hand, houston has so many great Thai places with cheaper prices, better Portion size, less wait, great dishes. Highly recommend this place! We went to celebrate a friend's birthday. The restaurant is family-style which makes it fun to get a bunch of dishes to split. The restaurant is authentic Thai food, so the minimum spice level is still spicy. I am good with spicy food so for most things I could have had it spicier, but my friends would not agree! the fried rice, stir fried Thai basil, and drunken noodles were all top knotch. The desserts were unique but still delicious. The service staff were helpful and efficient. Pro tip: start with mild, because their medium is more like extra hot on most scales. That said, the heat doesn't overpower the flavor - the food is absolutely delicious. The cashew chicken was dynamite, with perfect texture and bold flavors, and the pad Thai? Easily one of the best I've ever had. Balanced, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent. Food was delicious, Drinks were creative and the best I've ever seen at a thai restaurant. That's why I give it 4 stars. However, honestly the experience itself was 2 star. After we were sat at our table, it was 45 minutes (maybe more, I stopped checking the time) before we even got a drink order in. Then whoever placed that order must have forgot, because they didn't come and we had to place the order again. We then made our food order at the same time which came right around closing time after we had been sat for over 2 hours. I asked for hot sauce or chili oil and our server gave me a snobby "You'll be fine without it" and told me that the dishes are made in the chef's vision and are meant to be eaten that way. No extra spice available at a Thai restaurant is weird but this behavior from the waiter made me feel crazy lol and I was a waitress at a thai restaurant for years. TLDR: Best Thai in Houston Dish ordered: Khao Soi with beef cheek (first two pictures) Also tried: Drunken noodles (sharing with the table, third picture) For context, I attended dinner on a Monday night at 8:30 pm, an hour before they close. They also have a cancellation policy, where the party is charged $30 for every member of the party that does not show up if a reservation was made, which we opted not to do for our party of 6. We had no problem getting seated and we received amazing service throughout the night, everything from our drinks constantly being filled to great suggestions and advice from the waiters, without feeling like we were constantly being hovered. We were walked through the menu from top to bottom, with popular options, personal favorites, and options for customization with our restrictions. Overall, thoroughly impressed from a service standpoint. The Khao Soi was the star of the night. It comes with 48 hour braised beef cheek in a fragrant coconut curry over hand pulled egg noodles, topped with crispy noodles and house pickled mustard greens, and it tastes as wild as that sounds in the best way possible. The broth was rich and layered, the noodles have that perfect chew, and the beef cheek is fall apart tender. Our server recommended it as a dish big enough to share and they were right. One bowl was easily enough for two people, especially if you are ordering family style. Also pictured were the drunken noodles. This portion is definitely only enough for one person, but nonetheless the flavors were outstanding. The noodles were wide, great flavor with an above average level of spice for the mild, the right amount of char from the wok, and not too oily or heavy. I would order this again, but keep in mind that this is not enough for multiple people to get full like the Khao Soi was for two people. Overall, I will definitely be frequenting this establishment and will be recommending it to locals and those coming in from out of town alike.
