I've been coming here since I was a young and free single lad, and now I still come here, but as a husband and father of 3. All this to say the food still slaps, no cap. Our old reliables are the Beef Noodle Soup, Tiger Cry, along with Pad Pak Bong. We also recommend the Tony Wings and Tom Yum Noodle Soup. While the prices have crept up over the years, it is still very reasonable. Portions are pretty generous. I will say that it doesn't feel like it's the cleanest place and the decor has not changed (which is not necessarily a bad thing), but the interior is getting older. This establishment has been our go-to Thai spot in the Chinatown area and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
Ordered Tony wings, Pad See Ew, and Pad Prick King Fish. The plates above will always be my go to dishes, wings are sticky sweet with crunch, padSE noods are wok'd with yummy char yet still bouncy, and the fish's spicy spiced up coat of chili is addictive! I like coming here for a fast easy comfort Thai food, the service is always swift and the food is consistent. The environment is causal but can still cater to a big party.
Wanted to check out another Thai place and this one showed up. Got a few dishes to try out and everything was pretty solid. Pad see ew and the tom yum kung was our favorite. It was super flavorful and the spice level was perfect. I think the only let down was the fish. It was over cooked in my opinion so the texture was very soggy-like. Located in same plaza with Kim Son, Bambu, and Long's Coffee so there's plenty of parking.

Great price and great portions - don't get me wrong the Thai places in the heights is delicious but if you want family style Thai food, this is the place to be. I ALWAYS get the fried catfish, the tom yum fried rice - the beef tiger cry can be a hit or miss sometimes so just hope it isn't dry when you order it! An all time classic spot you need to try
Every time I'm in Houston, this is a must-stop. Tony's Taxi has the best wings and fried rice -- hands down! The flavors are crazy good, the portions are perfect, and the vibe is always on point. The service is 10/10 -- friendly, fast, and consistent every single visit. I literally can't come to Houston without stopping here. Always hits
THE BIG: Thai restaurant located inside Chinatown bellaire of Houston. Very big space, pay at the end and parking lot available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I'm always excited to go to Chinatown everytime we're in Houston. We immediately came to Tony Thai since we were famished from our drive from Austin. Since it was 2:30 in the afternoon, we were seated immediately as there were only a handful of customers inside. Service is lightning quick. We got the tom yum soup and tony's wings. The tony's wings were alright, it's your standard soy garlic fried chicken, and the tom yum soup was a nice tummy warmer for the cold day. THE FINAL BAMBOO: For two dishes, what came out of pocket was around $30 for two dishes. Wish we tried more of the original thai dishes, but the two we got was great.
If you're looking for big Thai portions at an affordable price, this place is hard to beat. The servings are huge compared to most Thai restaurants and you definitely get a lot of food for what you pay. The pad thai and the pineapple fried rice are the standouts for me. Both dishes are packed with flavor and come out in generous portions that are perfect for sharing or taking leftovers home. When I say generous, I mean HUGEEEE!! One entree is MORE than enough to feed two people so don't over order here. You will end up taking most of it to go. because it is impossible to finish. The interior is designed very nice and there are tons of seating.
My friend told me that this Tony Thai restaurant has very good steak, so we went there for dinner. I ordered the basil lamb, and my friend ordered the grilled steak. The basil lamb tasted okay, but the steamed rice was not good and of cheap quality. The waiter service was decent. The restaurant atmosphere was okay. This restaurant also sells some grocery items.
I think the food is good depending on what you order. The price is pretty budget friendly. Love the idea of no MSG :o - Pineapple fried rice (good) Pad see ew (yummmy) Tom yum kung (eh, it was quite salty with not many toppings) Staff is nice and the place is nicely decorated
Solid Thai food!!! They keep it simple and do an amazing job with authentic flavors! Everything came out warm, smelling amazing, and cooked perfectly! Wings were very crunch and flavorful. The sticky rice was one of my favorites yet. And overall this place is just a great bang for your buck the serving sizes are huge!! Will be back!

It's hard finding an affordable Thai restaurant these days but Tony Thai is exactly that! We ordered the pad see ew, the stir fried green beans and the Tom yum soup. I love their Tom yum soup. It's a dish that my family always orders when we go here. Service is alright, sometimes a bit disorganized and slow but I would attribute that to how busy they are. They have lots of decor in the restaurant which is a nice touch. The restaurant is located in the same plaza as Kim Son on Bellaire and in the far corner. You won't miss it! There's also plenty of parking right out front. Come here for decently priced Thai food if you're ever in Bellaire!
I was in the area looking for a place for lunch and saw this place while driving. It's a pretty big place and has lots of seatings. Since I was alone I decided to do a to-go. After a couple of recommendations from the server, I decided to order their Tom him fried rice. They told me it'll take 15 mins but it was ready in 5-7. I came back to the office and opened the box - it was full, their quantity is huge. It was hot and looked fresh! The taste was exactly what the server had said it would be - sweet and tangy. The rice and chicken were very flavorful and the present was great!
Great place in Chinatown that serves up many Thai dishes. Tony Thai has been a Chinatown staple for some time now. I've been here a few times with great results. The interior is nice and bright during the day. The lunch specials are gone, but prices and portions are really good, and one can easily split a dish. I really enjoyed the pad thai and pad prick king fish on my last visit. The pad thai had great flavor and pieces of fried tofu, the fish had a nice crisp texture. We asked for both dishes to be medium, but no spice was detected, so we had to alter them ourselves. They do offer take away goodies as well as ingredients to make your own dishes, a bit out of place, but whatever. This is definitely not a place to be missed.
Reviews are mixed. Many praise the authentic flavors, generous portions, and friendly service. The comfortable atmosphere is also appreciated.

Tony Thai Restaurant has the decor of an old family place. There's sauces, spices and goodies for sale in the front, tables with papers, books and overstock on the left partially separating the employee eating area. It feels lived in. A friend and I met up to try and update some old files from Windows Vista. I wanted burgers but the place I chose turned out to be a bust. So, it was his choice. He's Vietnamese and likes Chinatown, I don't like buffets so I nixed his first choice of Kim Son.. and then he said Tony Thai and I agreed. His picks are always good. When we walked in he saw his Aunt and Uncle eating with their family, (small world or just the allure of a place like Tony Thai's?) My buddy ordered the Pad Thai, he said "I always get the Pad Thai." I ordered the Catfish Three Flavor Sauce on his recommendation. We shared both dishes family style. The Catfish three Flavor Sauce was amazing. The cabbage was crisp and fresh, and the catfish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. I could taste at least two sauces, sweet and spicy chili, probably a third but can't place. The Pad Thai wasn't that good to me. I'm not a Thai food expert but the chicken seemed overcooked. It had the texture and mouthfeel of cardboard. My buddy didn't complain so I didn't either. Maybe that's how he likes it, I didn't ask. I like Tony Thai and would go back. The deliciousness of the Catfish Three Flavor Sauce completely excuses the chicken in the Pad Thai, but it does knock it down a star. We came here after a friend recommended us, tried the Beef Pad Kee Mow (light spicy was requested- still pretty spicy, the basil kinda left me uncertain but the overall spite blend was really interesting) and Tiger Cry Beef (we might come back just for this dish!!), and Combination Fried Rice (a little wet compared to what we usually have in another thai places but still flavorful). My brother also tried the chicken egg rolls, nothing crazy tbh, they were good. The Thai tea was so unexpectedly refreshing, it was like a light papaya flavor with evaporated milk (I don't think those were the ingredients lol but it was subtle) Service was very chill and welcoming, the server helped us with some recommendations and was very sweet. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean, they have a little shop section with niche foods and ingredients. Will definitely give it another chance but that Tiger dish was killer!! read more
I like Tony Thai because it's affordable and the food is pretty decent. We went the day before Father's Day to celebrate and it was pretty packed but the interior has a lot of seating. We ordered veggie dumplings, veggie egg rolls, crispy pork with veggies, tofu pad thai, chicken pad see ew, crispy noodles with shrimp, tiger cry beef, and garlic green beans. The tiger cry beef was good but I wish it was a little bit softer or not as cooked. The garlic green beans were so good and had a nice crunch to them. You can never go wrong with their pad thai and pad see ew. Our server was really kind and kept checking on us, refilling our waters, and even packed up our leftovers. If you are ever craving thai food I would definitely check this place out! read more

Got takeout dessert. 2 mango sticky rice and one of the boxes the mangos tasted rotten. Very weird taste. The second box was ok it wasn't sweet but edible. Both of the coconut sauce seem spoiled. I def wasn't happy with throwing away an 8$ box of mango dessert. Prob won't go back here again during the summer. The drive was less than 10 mins in an air conditioned car, so either they didn't fridge their coconut milk sauce or it's old. Mangoes I dunno. Maybe it's not fresh? read more

Tony Thai is definitely one of my favorite Thai restaurants around here. I've been going here for years. I eat here at least a few times a month, either in person or for to-go. The dishes here are simple, authentic, and really tasty. The restaurant can get pretty packed on the weekends though, but if you don't go during dinner rush, it's not bad at all. The service is always fast, and the servers have always been attentive. I always have to order the chicken yellow curry, pork pad see ew, and garlic salmon, but I also love their other dishes as well, such as the garlic pork, pad kee mao, tiger cry, fried rice, and more. Included are photos of the garlic salmon, pork pad see ew, garlic pork, and chicken yellow curry. The prices have gone up over the years, but they are still definitely fair for what you get. The portion sizes are good for the price. It's definitely my go-to for Thai foods in Chinatown. read more

I went here for the second time ever this past Monday night. I ordered the Basil Chicken Fried Rice with easy oil and medium spice level. It was very fresh, herby, spicy, really delicious, moist without being too greasy as I prefer rice a bit on the dry side rather than soupy in feel. The basil and bell pepper vibes were spot-on and the chicken pieces were very tender. The rice itself had just the right amount of saltiness n solid savoriness. I've had a couple other good ones in other Thai places, but they just don't make it really good the way Thai Gourmet / Thai Garden did in their prime. Some great places don't even sell the basil version either. Each place I just mentioned tastes a little different since they're different places of course, but they nail that same idea roughly, which is superb news. The service was welcoming and this place is far from me, but I will make a trip here from time to time. I am so glad T T is a more authentic Thai place too, bc Americanized ones just doesn't compare. read more

This place had great Thai food and service with lots of seating available. My friends and I did family style and still had some leftovers so the portions are decent. We got the beef pad see ew, which was good but too salty for my liking. We also got the chicken fried rice and the Tony wings, which had really good flavors overall. I would for sure recommend the fried rice and wings if you ever come here. read more

This was my go to restaurant when I lived in Houston. I came to visit after not living here for ten years, and this place didn't disappoint. Just as good as I remembered it. We did our usuals, the red curry spicy, basil fried rice, pad Thai, and the green veggies (can't remember name) and everything was amazing. I also had the Thai iced tea and so yummy- you can really taste the tea in it!!! read more

Garlic soft shell crab is a must try-- this was sooo delicious, definitely my favorite dish that we tried. Service was great, they were fast and offered recommendations for us! Got pretty packed on Saturday night but we did not have to wait long to be seated. Located in a shopping mall plaza with lots of dessert options nearby too. read more

I was craving Thai & this restaurant was the nearest place to me. I ordered pick up and ordered my favorite, the Pad See Ew. My meal with tax was $15.10 and I feel that's a reasonable price! Other places, I have paid more (around $17-18). I was suprised when I walked in and there was nobody in the restaurant eating because my food was great! I feel like it was a Good portion and love the noodles. Will be back to try their other foods. read more
This spot is more of a 3.5 star rating for me. Customer service was pretty good. But, their dishes were on the sweeter side, which I didn't care for. Here's a breakdown of the dishes we ordered: Thai fish cakes (4/5): I think this was on par with Thai Bistro. Good texture, ample lemongrass flavor, and tangy sauce. The sauce was still kind of on the sweet side. Grilled squid (4/5): I can actually get past the sweetness of the sauce coating the squid here because it had a wonderful smokey flavor and just cooked to the right texture. The chili sauce on the side will help with cutting the sweetness and add a good amount of heat. It's spicy. Pad Kee Mao (3.5/5): I asked for my dish to have chicken and tofu; and for it to be spicy. Well, it wasn't spicy at all. It had just enough flavor from the wok and the basil. It was kinda sweet. The chicken was ok, but the tofu was tough, since they used the fried tofu that you would use for hot pot. I wonder if they used a slightly less chewy tofu, the dish would be more cohesive. Otherwise, they had large portions, enough for lunch the next day. Yay. We came earlier on a weeknight for dinner and there were few people inside and spaced far enough apart. Later into the dinner, more people came in for dinner and it wasn't comfortable for me anymore. I immediately wore my mask, packed my leftovers and left. Tip is to try to come for an early dinner to beat the crowds, or just get your food to go. Next time, I plan to try out their curry dishes. I won't hesitate to ask for it to be Thai hot, since their spicy wasn't even spicy. read more

Loved the food!! And service !! We ordered the wings again as they are super crunchy and meaty. They drizzle it with a tangy sweet sauce with cut up cabbage ! Super great touch We also ordered the Fried Fish with was lightly battered and fried and then served with a red curry sauce, red and green bell peppers and some other veggie but can't remember what it was - served with rice We also ordered the whole fish to go. They packed it with the sauce in a separate container! Looking forward to having that tonight for dinner!! read more

They do have it. It's not on the menu so you have to ask for it. If the waiter says they don't then ask for the manager. For some reason, some waiters don't know they have it LOL.…
