Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice!
    Zain P.

If you're looking for big Thai portions at an affordable price, this place is hard to beat. The servings are huge compared to most Thai restaurants and you definitely get a lot of food for what you pay. The pad thai and the pineapple fried rice are the standouts for me. Both dishes are packed with flavor and come out in generous portions that are perfect for sharing or taking leftovers home. When I say generous, I mean HUGEEEE!! One entree is MORE than enough to feed two people so don't over order here. You will end up taking most of it to go. because it is impossible to finish. The interior is designed very nice and there are tons of seating.

Every time I'm in Houston, this is a must-stop. Tony's Taxi has the best wings and fried rice -- hands down! The flavors are crazy good, the portions are perfect, and the vibe is always on point. The service is 10/10 -- friendly, fast, and consistent every single visit. I literally can't come to Houston without stopping here. Always hits

THE BIG: Thai restaurant located inside Chinatown bellaire of Houston. Very big space, pay at the end and parking lot available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I'm always excited to go to Chinatown everytime we're in Houston. We immediately came to Tony Thai since we were famished from our drive from Austin. Since it was 2:30 in the afternoon, we were seated immediately as there were only a handful of customers inside. Service is lightning quick. We got the tom yum soup and tony's wings. The tony's wings were alright, it's your standard soy garlic fried chicken, and the tom yum soup was a nice tummy warmer for the cold day. THE FINAL BAMBOO: For two dishes, what came out of pocket was around $30 for two dishes. Wish we tried more of the original thai dishes, but the two we got was great.

My friend told me that this Tony Thai restaurant has very good steak, so we went there for dinner. I ordered the basil lamb, and my friend ordered the grilled steak. The basil lamb tasted okay, but the steamed rice was not good and of cheap quality. The waiter service was decent. The restaurant atmosphere was okay. This restaurant also sells some grocery items.

I think the food is good depending on what you order. The price is pretty budget friendly. Love the idea of no MSG :o - Pineapple fried rice (good) Pad see ew (yummmy) Tom yum kung (eh, it was quite salty with not many toppings) Staff is nice and the place is nicely decorated

Solid Thai food!!! They keep it simple and do an amazing job with authentic flavors! Everything came out warm, smelling amazing, and cooked perfectly! Wings were very crunch and flavorful. The sticky rice was one of my favorites yet. And overall this place is just a great bang for your buck the serving sizes are huge!! Will be back!

My family and I have been coming to Tony Thai for years since it opened. It's a Bellaire staple for many and for good reason! The portions are hefty and prices are good! It's hard finding an affordable Thai restaurant these days but Tony Thai is exactly that! We ordered the pad see ew, the stir fried green beans and the Tom yum soup. I love their Tom yum soup. It's a dish that my family always orders when we go here. Service is alright, sometimes a bit disorganized and slow but I would attribute that to how busy they are. They have lots of decor in the restaurant which is a nice touch. The restaurant is located in the same plaza as Kim Son on Bellaire and in the far corner. You won't miss it! There's also plenty of parking right out front. Come here for decently priced Thai food if you're ever in Bellaire!

Got takeout dessert. 2 mango sticky rice and one of the boxes the mangos tasted rotten. Very weird taste. The second box was ok it wasn't sweet but edible. Both of the coconut sauce seem spoiled. I def wasn't happy with throwing away an 8$ box of mango dessert. Prob won't go back here again during the summer. The drive was less than 10 mins in an air conditioned car, so either they didn't fridge their coconut milk sauce or it's old. Mangoes I dunno. Maybe it's not fresh?

I was in the area looking for a place for lunch and saw this place while driving. It's a pretty big place and has lots of seatings. Since I was alone I decided to do a to-go. After a couple of recommendations from the server, I decided to order their Tom him fried rice. They told me it'll take 15 mins but it was ready in 5-7. I came back to the office and opened the box - it was full, their quantity is huge. It was hot and looked fresh! The taste was exactly what the server had said it would be - sweet and tangy. The rice and chicken were very flavorful and the present was great!

Fantastic Basil Chicken Fried Rice (medium spicy) !!!
    Michael C.

I went here for the second time ever this past Monday night. I ordered the Basil Chicken Fried Rice with easy oil and medium spice level. It was very fresh, herby, spicy, really delicious, moist without being too greasy as I prefer rice a bit on the dry side rather than soupy in feel. The basil and bell pepper vibes were spot-on and the chicken pieces were very tender. The rice itself had just the right amount of saltiness n solid savoriness. I've had a couple other good ones in other Thai places, but they just don't make it really good the way Thai Gourmet / Thai Garden did in their prime. Some great places don't even sell the basil version either. Each place I just mentioned tastes a little different since they're different places of course, but they nail that same idea roughly, which is superb news. The service was welcoming and this place is far from me, but I will make a trip here from time to time. I am so glad T T is a more authentic Thai place too, bc Americanized ones just doesn't compare.

Great place in Chinatown that serves up many Thai dishes. Tony Thai has been a Chinatown staple for some time now. I've been here a few times with great results. The interior is nice and bright during the day. The lunch specials are gone, but prices and portions are really good, and one can easily split a dish. I really enjoyed the pad thai and pad prick king fish on my last visit. The pad thai had great flavor and pieces of fried tofu, the fish had a nice crisp texture. We asked for both dishes to be medium, but no spice was detected, so we had to alter them ourselves. They do offer take away goodies as well as ingredients to make your own dishes, a bit out of place, but whatever. This is definitely not a place to be missed.

I've only got to-go from here once, and from what I remember, the wait wasn't too bad. The parking is quite difficult since the lot is so small. To share, we got an order of crispy veggie spring rolls and a bowl of tom kha with chicken. Both always hit the spot. Some Thai spots make tom kha too salty but I think this one is seasoned well. I ordered it with beef, and the beef was very tender and not dry at all. Furthermore, the overall dish has the wok hay flavor and was one of my favorite pad see ews I've ever had. Thai Iced Tea - it was your average thai iced tea where it wasn't mixed at first(which I think is a sign of authenticity!) and sweet at the perfect level with condensed milk. What makes this a four star was that the service was a little iffy in my opinion. Even though we were in a large group which makes it harder for waiters to order, the waiter stared at one of my friends and started mumbling despite him already ordering which made it pretty awkward.

The Tom Kha had a lighter, more watery base than the rich coconut flavor I'm used to. They also served a complimentary appetizer, which was a fun surprise, a taco shaped fried wonton wrapper filled with cabbage and their house dressing...Overall, if you're looking for a quick Thai bite with excellent service, this place works. As for the entree, I ordered the Khao Soi with shrimp and my friend ordered the spicy red snapper. The curry broth with coconut milk was fragrant and with the toppings that came on the side (i.e. lime, onions/shallots, mustard greens, etc) enhanced the dish. The flat egg noodles were bouncy and the shrimp was solid. If you're stuck between choosing a curry dish and a noodle dish, get the best of both worlds and order the Khao Soi! We tried their appetizers including Salmon Rolls (flavorfully packed with cream cheese, salmon, and spinach in a crispy shell and loving that actually spicy mayo on the side), Thai Style Jerky (deep fried and sun dried marinated pork and beef served with sticky rice rolls and side spicy tamarind sauce, a bit too dry/chewy), Fried Tofu (perfect little triangles, so good by itself or with the side sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts), Chive Pancake (deep fried and chive packed triangles with a slight chew to it, great by itself or with it's spicy soy sauce companion). As for the mains, the Spicy Seafood Fried Rice is a good value as it was loaded with all sort of fruits of the sea (shrimp, squid, and mussel), with prominent lemongrass and kaffir lime aroma, but a bit wet or moist for a fried rice dish, the Crabmeat Omelet is served with a nice portion of lump crabmeat where you can taste the flavor of the seafood and add sriracha to liking, and the Beef Pad See Ew is made appetizing with wok charred flat rice noodles along with a savory blend of soy sauce, Chinese broccoli and egg. The portion size is alright and filling for a moderately hungry individual, though it would've been even better a tad bigger for those coming in hangry. I'll be back for more when I'm craving some modern Thai food and especially want to try their curry dishes. Service was quick and efficient, attentive to refills on drinks and friendly!
